Five stars for overall experience. Our party of 6 shared the parm crusted tempura cauliflower, Posada's Mixta Paella, and King Ranch Enchiladas and enjoyed the live music offered on "Paella Monday". As our organizer mentioned, they were fully booked that night so do reserve early. Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. Overall a lackluster birthday meal with our server Jessica. She was unfriendly and inattentive throughout the visit. She routinely checked on every table but ours. It had been years since I'd last been here, so I came back with a couple of friends for Paella Mondays. I really liked that they had live music playing, it added to the overall vibe of the evening. The paella was a good portion for two people to share. It came out in the classic paella pan and was pretty good overall. We might've had leftovers if we weren't so hungry. My only complaint was that it was missing that crispy rice layer at the bottom, which is my favorite part of paella. For dessert, we shared the tres leches cake, and wow, the slice was huge and definitely meant for sharing, and also delicious. The restaurant was very busy that night and packed with people. Some of the other menu items are on the pricey side. As someone who grew up eating Mexican food, it's hard for me to justify paying those prices for dishes I'm used to making at home. That said, paella is something that takes time and effort and isn't something I normally make myself, so it felt more worth it. I really wanted to love this place because the owners and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The cocktails were outstanding and were easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the food experience didn't live up to the service. Charging extra for chips and salsa at what is essentially a Mexican restaurant (even if it's branded as "Southwestern") was disappointing, especially when the salsa portion was so small. Chips and salsa are such a staple that it felt out of place to pay extra for them. The biggest issue, though, was the tortillas. They weren't heated, which made them feel dry and mealy and they fell apart while eating the tacos. The steak itself was flavorful, but the tortillas made it difficult to enjoy what could have been a really good dish. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. We went here for lunch to this hidden gem in Livermore. We made a reservation in case they were busy but being a Friday afternoon, it was not busy. The place had a very romantic ambiance and the lights were dim. They had a large selection of drinks and a full bar. The food was delicious. Came here on Monday and it was phenomenal. I enjoyed the live music and the Chipotle Chicken Paella was great with a lot going in a good way. The chef was accommodating and allowed us to order the Roasted Poblano Pepper-Honey Butter Vegetables even though Mondays are only for Paellas, and we were able exclude the chorizo due to dietary restrictions of my accompanying party members. I liked that they accommodated the hurry we had because my mother had a flight to catch. The poblano pepper dish had a salsa-ey vibe in terms of taste going on with a nice honey taste and the pepper was also great. Came here on a weekend night and this place was pretty packed. We had made an online reservation and the place was pretty crowded when we got here. I ordered the King Ranch enchiladas and my partner ordered the shrimp and chorizo pasta. We shared the crispy cauliflower. The cauliflower was probably the best dish with its sauce. The pasta was bland even though the shrimp and chorizo had some flavor. The enchiladas were cheesy yet bland and I don't think the bacon went very well with it. The rice that came with the enchiladas was a little hard and there was very little corn with it. The enchiladas could have used more flavor and sauce. I ordered salsa on the side and they charged $3 extra. The drinks were also fine, but again nothing special. We also ordered churros and those were pretty standard. I think what annoyed us is that they charge a 3% charge to use a card -- as if the prices of the food was not already high. We weren't very happy with our food here and I'm not sure we would return. read more

WOW!!! I brought my mom, aunt and daughter here from out of town. We went based on the Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. We ordered the cauliflower and chicharrones to start. Delicious! The two were a perfect balance. We each ordered something different, wagyu tacos, mahi mahi tacos, chicken tinga taco, rajas taco, watermelon salad, beet salad, and the table shared the king ranch enchiladas- all were phenomenal but the service, Sheri our waitress made all of our day! She was so wonderful, she thought of everything. We had leftovers and she knew we were planning on going downtown for a little shopping, she carefully packed our leftovers in a bag with ice to keep it fresh, she brought extra sauce for our enchiladas that we had for our to go container, she took our picture after eating, she is a jewel of a person. Love the place, the food, the ambiance, the service, but that 3% surcharge on credit cards has got to go. It simply gets deducted from the tip anyway. It's not the waiters' fault, I know, but it's the only recourse I have. Maybe when enough waiters get dinged they too will ask that it be removed. It has been determined in study after study that people spend more when they use a credit card. In today's economy, it's a reasonable assumption that if you did not take credit cards your establishment would be a lot emptier. Just like the lights and the heat bill that you build into the price of your menu items, credit card fess are a cost of doing business. Instead of appearing petty, simply add the 3% into your menu prices if you must. One way or another, I'm not paying it. Even though we could not make reservations online for lunch on a Sunday, only one other party was there. So don't worry about coming early to get a table. Our waiter was very friendly and kept checking on us. I ordered the shrimp and chorizos with fettuccine pasta tossed in a lemon cream sauce, Mexican chorizo, Spanish-style sausage, and crostinis. I was the dish having too much lemon flavor, but I couldn't taste the lemon at all, which is a good thing. I like the bits of Mexican chorizo in the dish and a grilled sausage on top. The dish was delicious, and everything worked well together. My favorite part was using the crostinis to dip into the cream sauce. I highly recommend this dish! [BEWARE] This restaurant does not carry any hot sauce at all. This is weird, especially for a Latin restaurant specializing in southwestern cuisine. Even the most basic restaurant has hot sauce. This was our first time to Posada. I've been wanting to try this for a while and since it was a Resy restaurant, decided to give it a try. We ordered the cauliflower, short ribs and the wagyu flank. 5 star system (Service, Food Presentation, Value, Ambience, Food Taste) 1 star for service - great service! 1 star for food presentation - came out looking lovely 1 star for ambience - the restaurant gives off a really romantic vibe - love it!! That's a total of 3 stars for this visit! Posada did not receive a star for the Food Taste because I ordered "medium RARE" for the wagyu flank and what was delivered to the table was well done, which completely ruined the texture and taste of the meat, making it taste like sand paper. I've had Wagyu at different restaurants plus I've ordered Wagyu from places like Snake River and The Wagyu Shop. The piece of meat that was served did not taste like Wagyu. As far as I could tell, there was no marbling and no buttery taste. It really was "sandpapery". Was a disappointment as I was looking forward to a great piece of meat. Posada did not earn a star for VALUE for two reasons. The prices are high for what is served. For the amount charged, I can get some really wonderful dishes at other local restaurants in the same level AND Posada is one of a small population of restaurants that charges a 3% fee (3% of the bill) if the customer elects to use a credit card. A long time favorite...this year we had the pleasure of dining on Thanksgiving. We have always had a homemade feast, but it was just us....my hubby, DD and her family this year. Dining out at one of our favorite restaurants was very appealing. It was also very last minute...fortunately a call secured us a table. The menu was amazing... so many choices on a Prefixed Menu. Wine list was wonderful. My meal... I felt the Turkey Milanese was a tiny bit over breaded...but the meat was tender and delicious...portions were very generous. The veggies were perfectly cooked, and mashed potatoes were grandma quality. Others raved about their choices, we were a throughly satisfied group. Our GF young woman was graciously accommodated. The first time we went was a little warmer so we were able to sit outside (which i prefer) but the second time we went was way colder so we had to sit inside which to be honest i didn't really love..There's this older man that was at the host stand which i don't know if he's the owner or what, but he was a little on the rude side to us which is why i only rate this place 4 out of 5 stars. The food is 5 out of 5 & i will definitely go back a third time, but just the older gentleman's demeanor made us feel belittled by the way he responded to us wanting to sit in a specific spot...not a HUGE deal, which is why i wont take away anymore stars from them, but he was very short with us after that whole encounter. My wife absolutely loved this tacos, & our friend was a fan of the chilaquiles. The menu is relatively small, but there are some interesting dishes on there. The guacamole was pretty bland. The King Ranch enchiladas were tasty and cheesy and gooey but the rice on the side was just plain white rice. The shrimp tostadas were only decent, though the shrimp were huge and very nicely grilled and super tasty. The spicy Santa Fe margarita was very tasty, but the sangrita was just a frozen meh lime margarita with a little floater of sangria on it.
