Romana's Pizza is relatively new to Danville. There is abundance of pizza parlors in Danville so there is a lot of competition. I have walked by Romana's a few times which is in downtown Danville. I finally tried the pizza. I got four slices: pepperoni, cheese, Delizia Della Casa (pepperoni, sliced sausage, onions, garlic and mushrooms) and basil (I think, I see a square pizza called Nona's Pie that sounds like the regular pizza slice I got). All of the pizza slices were good, thin crust with a slight crisp, chewy, crunchy edge and good flavored. The prices of the pizzas are in line with the other pizza restaurants in Danville but more mid-range priced. They also have pastas and other dishes to try. I'm big on meatballs so I plan to go back and try the meatball sandwich or the spaghetti with meatballs. Take the family and give it a try, there is something for everyone. They gave in-door and outdoor seating. Guy that works at night was nice. read more

I stumbled upon this place by accident and I'm glad I gave it a try. I got the chicken capricciosa and it had really good flavor, definitely enjoyed the toppings and overall taste. And what was supposed to be rosemary foccacia croutons definitely tasted like a store bought bag of croutons. I was very disappointed cause if you advertise rosemary foccacia croutons, that's what you should serve your customers. * Garlic knots: 2/5 6 pieces with side marinara. Garlic knots are always a gamble. When it's done right, it's so delicious. But 70% out of 100%, it is often burned and dry. * Linguni Carbonara: 2/5 with white creamy sauce. The taste was there. But the pasta didn't taste fresh. It was soggy and overdone. I like my pasta al dente and this was far from it. * Baked Ziti: My Nana was not very happy with his baked ziti. He said the pasta was overdone. Too soft. And he said he would not get it again. Overall, I like supporting Romana Pizzeria. He makes good east coast pizza. But the food is inconsistent. I would never get their pasta again. But i'd still support them for their pizza. Tip: It is better to call in your order, if you have special requests. They will accomadate with a phone order. Both the squash AND beets salad were not available. You would think they would know ahead of time after they just opened what they were out of. Ambiance was odd. It's clean, but it's an Italian pizzeria blasting country music. Pizza was hard, more like stale. It lacked any real flavor. Our third choice for a salad was soggy. I was kind of shocked it wasn't as busy from 4-6pm on a Wednesday. No one else dined in, and maybe a few take out orders. The menu had a large variety of pizzas and pastas. We ordered a Caesar salad and a half margarita and half lasagna pizza. The kids REALLY loved the Cesar salad which I thought was funny because we eat Caesar salad a few times a month. For the pizzas, margarita was the family favorite, but my favorite was the lasagna pizza. I loved the slices of ground beef that were super thin and flavorful. They bake the meatloaf first, and then slice it thinly for the lasagna pizza. Yum!! After our meal, the owner spoke to us and told us how the sauces and cheeses were organic and very light so that you won't walk away with a heavy feeling - you will filled satiated and ready for the rest of your day. I came around 8pm ish on a Saturday. First the positives, the staff was very friendly and my order was ready when I got there. I was able to eat my food I ordered online at the restaurant, they plated it for me and everything. The restaurant is very nice inside and has a lot of seating outside, a really nice place. I ordered a slice of their artisan and pizza and when I got there it definitely looked like the slices have been sitting there for a few hours. It's your typical pizza place where they reheat it in the oven but I don't think there was saving this slice. It just did not taste good at all. The chicken Caesar was a generous amount but I found the chicken to be dry and overcooked and the croutons were soft and no crunch. It didn't feel like the pizza was made with love. 2.5 stars. Came here looking for some good Roman pizza and it left us thinking it definitely could have been better. PARKING - they have a few spaces behind their store but they are kind of hard to park in. There's also street parking which may not be too hard to find. It was good for us since we had 4 adults and 2 kids and lots of stuff. They had high chairs. The inside was pretty inviting, casual and no complaints. FOOD - we called ahead to order a fresh pie since we didn't want to wait too long with kids. They had it ready right as we got there so I would recommend this! They say call about 15-30 minutes before you want it. DELIZIA PIZZA - not bad, I preferred this over the chicken pizza below. The pepperoni was a little spicy (I'm weak) but overall the flavor was decent. The cheese is the kind that just falls off with all the toppings when you try to eat it though, which was annoying. The other bad thing was the crust was soggy. The outer crust when you get to the end was pretty crispy/good but the rest was soggy. CHICKEN GENOVESE PIZZA - unfortunately the chicken was really tough and rubbery, which kind of ruined the pizza. The pesto sauce was also barely detectable so not that good. There's a long marble table in the middle of the restaurant, high bar seating by the window, and small tables with outlets on the wall which was super convenient because I was able to work/charge my laptop while eating. There's also a front patio with outdoor seating and string lights. Overall, the decor was cute and well thought out. Service: Friendly and fast. You order and pay first, then they bring the food out to you. There's a self serve water station. Food: Good variety of salads, pizzas, and pasta. Pizza is very good with a nice crisp, thin crust. My only nitpick is they have a sign out front advertising $2 off slices and drinks from 8-close. I ordered two slices at about 8:30PM and they rang up for a total of $12. This made me think that the normal price for a slice of pizza is $8, which seems like a lot. I asked the cashier about this and she said the normal price is $6 per slice. So what about the "happy hour" discount? She didn't seem to know anything about it. If you're going to advertise a special, you really should program your POS system so that the price changes depending upon when the order is placed and the cashier doesn't have to keep track of the changing prices. read more

Didn't look the freshest, and makes sense, they're new and slowly building up the business which will help with the turnover. I have comments for each, but what applies to all is that they use the finest ingredients for the salad and pizzas. * Margherita Slice (Sicilian-style) [$5, 4.0 stars] -- great tasting crust, but way too crispy. Of course, that gave it a nice and surprising crunch. * Arugula Salad [$10, 4.5 stars] -- wonderful salad topped with fresh halved walnuts. Very thinly dressed. We had gone here based on not only friends recommendations but the reviews. I have to admit I was expecting outstanding everything! We wound up as a family sharing garlic, knots and antipasto salad. The kids had to build your own pizza and we tried their Roman style pan pizza. Everything was pretty mediocre. The salad was okay but would have been better if the dressing had been better. It was basically bottled Italian dressing. The garlic nuts were garlic bread and the Roman style pizza. The crust was interesting, but the burrata that they put on it basically melted and slid everywhere so it was just kind of mushy. Service was fine, although a little slow ambience was terrible. I heard it was NYC style pizza so had to try having lived many years in NYC and tried a few places purporting to be that on the West Coast and generally finding them leaving something to be desired, and not super impressed with other pizza places in Danville I have tried. I Just ordered the cheese pie as a tester. The crust was good, thin and crispy, but the topping was perfect. The tomato sauce was very flavorful (hint of garlic) and the ratio of cheese and tomato was perfectly balanced and combined well so every bite was consistent. I am now a huge fan and will be a regular. The staff seemed friendly but not eating in I can't comment much on the service and ambiance but the pizza is the real deal.
