On Thursday, June 4, my friend and I visited Barnyard after seeing the following promotion on the website earlier that same day: "Owner's Choice Flight - $15. Three wines, three pours. No decisions needed. Just relax and enjoy your happy hour. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM." We arrived promptly at 4:00 PM expecting to enjoy the advertised happy hour, only to find the Wine Bar closed. We spent the next hour in the Livery and returned when the doors finally opened at 5:00 PM. After being seated, we politely asked why the website advertised a 4:00-6:00 PM happy hour that did not appear to be taking place. The server offered an explanation that was difficult to understand, then handed us the menu. No apology was offered, nor was there any attempt to honor the advertised wine flight price. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of acknowledgment from management. The owner--whom we recognized from photographs displayed on the premises--did not approach our table or offer any explanation for the discrepancy between the website and the actual experience. We each ordered a glass of wine, and to be fair, the wine itself was excellent. However, the experience left us disappointed. Businesses should either honor the promotions they advertise or clearly communicate when those promotions are no longer available. read more

They have a cozy corner when we want to have a date night and a more open area when we want to people watch. They also have a nice patio for the beautiful summer nights. First the good things. The atmosphere is very nice and pleasant. They have some really cool live music on Saturdays, often young HS aged kids playing some very good mood music for this type of place - a nice plus. Now the not so good things. On their web site they show this nice menu of food to eat. I ordered a shrimp pasta dish. My food came in a delivery sack placed in front of me - no plate, utensils, anything. So, I had to open up a plastic container, peel open a plastic bag to get a plastic knife and fork, and then eat out of the plastic tray. I'm sorry, I don't think this is what people should expect when handed a food menu. One might as well have a pizza delivered there. OK, it's about the wine I suppose. The wine list is VERY limited. I've been in there several times and they have no Bordeaux style red blends. - a FUNDAMENTAL wine category. So, I ordered a tasting flight of basic CA Cabs but they were out of the best Cab. This was just after the place opened on a SATURDAY. Look, if you are out of one of the FEW wines your menu offers BEFORE opening, just go down to Lunardi's and pick up a couple bottles. Bottom line, this place needs to figure out WHAT it wants to be and then focus on doing THAT well. read more

One of my absolute favorite spots to unwind. Service is super friendly, very knowledgeable and customer oriented. The owner is a wonderful proud business owner who takes pride in his business and prioritizes customers. A beautiful interior that is well decorated, comfortable chairs and plenty of fun things to buy. Some good snack options and the charcuterie boards are delicious. Join the wine club - interesting and great selections. Also a release party so you can taste what you are getting. Sorry to say, I really loved this place a couple years ago, but quality of food was so disappointing. The $50 sampler that once featured a fine assortment of gourmet crackers and meats, chocolates, dried fruits, delicious mustards and fig jellies is now a cheap imitation. Wheat thins and a mountain of cubed swiss cheese, cheap yellow mustard, jelly from a jar, standard green olives, a few cucumber slices and a few pieces of dried apricot!! No chocolates at all. We had to remind the server to even bring the cheap jelly and mustard. Not worth anything near what we paid. Ordered simple angel hair pasta from the menu, and got a completely different dish with dry chicken and capers on top that we did not ask for. We were actually told that when pasta is ordered, the restaurant they have partnered with delivers whatever they have left!!! I have attended lovely gatherings here, and the atmosphere and food were wonderful, but if the current food offerings don't match the menu at all, what's the point? I wanted to treat my friend to what I had remembered as a true gourmet wine experience, and we got a very unwelcome and expensive surprise. read more

The Barnyard Wine Bar is fantastic!! My friends and I hosted a happy hour/networking event at Barnyard Wine Bar last week. It was part of our "Female Physician Self Care Series." The theme was "Cookies and Cabernet" - we had wine pairings with Girl Scout cookies! We reached out to the Barnyard team and they were able to help us organize a wonderful event! We had stopped by Barnyard the week prior to pick wine and food - Lisa was so incredibly helpful! On the day of the event, we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome signs they had put together. The bar and tables were set up beautifully. The wine tastings and the food looked great! Lisa, Will, Aimee, and the other Barnyard staff took amazing care of us the entire evening. The food, the wine, and the ambience was top notch! The team definitely went out of their way to make us feel welcome! We selected five wines and ordered various boards (the epic board, the veggie plate) and assorted skewers. We will definitely be back! While all these photos are quite nice, they are very deceiving! It is VERY tight in there and for me (in a wheelchair), I had no access, even to the bathroom, without having to move all the people in every barstoolto make room. In an emergency, the only door I could use swings inward and is impossible to exit without assistance (which was non-existent) and which brings us to service...I had pre-ordered a vegan charcuterie platter via a number of text messages several days before the party, but instead, I was received with (two different servers, two different times) who cut me off at the knees without listening to my explanation about it. They simply stated, "I don't know anything about it. If you want vegan, we can add cucumbers and carrots. Here's the menu!" Quite rudely as well. Then, as an afterthought on their part, I was asked if I wanted any wine? I asked for a meritage, table wine, or a California red blend. I was directed to the red wines on the menu with no further discussion about blends, vineyards, or options and the kicker was that when I finally received my red wine, it was served refrigerated. I have never had refrigerated red wine anywhere in any kind of venue! Large pretzels were on the bottom of the platter covered in wet items like olives, sliced grapes and strawberries. I thought the pretzels were figs because they were soggy and stuck to the tray. We had issues with trying to pay our check because we wanted to leave during a break in the music and no one seemed to care if we paid or not. We almost just left because we couldn't get anyone's attention. All I could think about was "fire" and "exit!" I would not be here to write this if that had been the case. I was extremely disappointed because I was so looking forward to this night out. It couldn't ALL have been the fault of the full moon! Needless to say, will never return there and won't recommend you do either! read more

Was looking forward to trying this place out but was very underwhelmed. We are there in a Friday evening and it wasn't busy at all which we wondered why. Well, extremely overpriced wine; 3 oz ran $10-11, 6 oz $20-23. They measure each pour with a tool which is fine. Two of us each ordered a 6oz glass. One was nicely filled and the other one was at least an ounce short. I asked our server why the difference and was told that this is what it should be but if I was so picky that he would top it off. Well, come to find out, I got the bottom of the bottle I ordered and he was too lazy to open a new bottle. And since they are the ones so picky about the very measured pours, I felt that at least I should get the right amount. Not impressed by the service nor the snide remark. Two glasses of wine, $58 that included tax and tips which was included in their tip calculation. Not a fan of tipping on taxes or businesses that have their system set up that way. Came here on a Saturday afternoon on the recommendation of a good friend Lana, thanks Lana! As we got there upon opening we were greeted so warmly by the owners and bartender. The ambiance is comfortably airy and relaxing with a lot of natural lighting, service is very attentive and all so friendly. We started with the white wine flight which lead to 2 glasses of Chardonnay and the Barn Board Charcuterie, the selection of meats, cheeses, fruits and nuts was very good as well as the portion size for 2. It's such a nice place to have a glass of wine or two, order a charcuterie board and just chill even if you're by yourself. We're definitely looking forward in returning soon! read more

Don't get me wrong the atmosphere is really nice at the Barnyard. Very cozy and comfortable. Where I take issue is the pricing and wine varieties. It's astronomically expensive for the wine they offer. It's stuff you can go down the road to Costco or a grocery store and pay 1/3 the price. The real kicker is their flights. It's $26 for 3-3oz pours. However if you add up the individual 3oz pricing for the same wines it's $23. And keep in mind the normal bottle price of these wines is maybe $30-$40. Not worth it in my opinion. Much better options in Danville. read more
