The Meatball Spatzle was great. Rich and tasty and perfect for a cold rainy evening. The pork belly entree however was on the dry side and lacking favor. Cocktails were good. Service seemed to be on auto pilot. He was saying all the right things but was looking elsewhere the whole time he was at our table which was a little odd.

We had an absolutely amazing experience here. The service was fantastic. The food was equally fantastic. We had a wonderful time here. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waiter was a joy and was very helpful, informative, and attentive. The food was cooked perfectly. Overall, if you can't tell, we thoroughly enjoyed everything here. My only caveat is if you have tried German food and didn't like it, then don't bother. If you have never tried it, give this place a try. And if you love German food you probably have already been here, and if not, come try it out. They also have an excellent selection of southern German and Austrian beers! Score!

Käse Spätzle with Meatballs

Naschmarkt features a contemporary take on Austrian cuisine in an atmospheric setting. What is Austrian cuisine exactly? There are some unmissable iconic items like the (overly expensive) Homemade Pretzel, served with a huge bowl of beer cheese sauce topped with bacon bits and chives. A highlight dish was the Käse Spätzle, soft egg noodles baked in a cast iron pan with cheese sauce, caramelized onions, and meatballs, garnished with crispy onions on top. The huge portion was decadent and satisfying--the pasta, cheese, meatball, and onion combination was sweet, savory, unctuous, creamy, and crispy all at the same time. On the lighter side, the Chilled Cucumber & Avocado Soup was a cool, creamy soup; and the Beet Salad made with red and golden beets, mandarins, goat cheese, Greek yogurt, and dressed arugula made for a refreshing side. The Fish Tartine was three grilled rounds of sourdough bread topped with a chilled fish salad, avocado, radish, and sprouts; and the Schnitzel Sandwich was a breaded pork cutlet on a soft pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and house aioli. Both of these were served with tavern fries (potato wedges)--some pieces were undercooked, but others were perfectly soft and crispy. Overall, the food here was decent, though there were a few misses when it came to the execution--the dry fish salad, the undercooked potatoes, and the generic pretzel bun. Other components were hearty and delicious, including the Käse Spätzle and Schnitzel. However, the menu prices were definitely on the high side, though not unusual for downtown Pleasanton.

I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner at Naschmarkt recently. From the ambience to the cuisine to the decor, my boxes were being checked. I truly marveled at the presentation of the food. My family scarfed their entrees up with zero complaints. I on the other hand had a few minor gripes: -Certain bites of my steak were difficult to chew through -The ends of the asparagus were woody -Our server fell off the face of the Earth toward the end. As someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, the schoko kuchen was everything! I also enjoyed the presentation of the sweet corn soup (get your phone out!). And feed me scallops all day, every day. I will definitely recommend Naschmarkt to others (as will my Hungarian mom!).

Great food (I was honestly skeptical for months and felt like I was probably going to just have to eat sausages). I tried it, I did eat sausages lol and they were the best sausages I ever had. We also ordered the chicken pot pie-- loved it! It hit the spot, a little hint of sweet on the bread filodough style rim with the salty center was lovely. My husband ordered the Schnitzel and they made it for us with chicken and it was amazing-- the kids devoured it too. We had this wine recommended by the staff called Nigl-- my new favorite!!!! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this place.

Naschmarkt, a spot that may imply nibbles of small bites at the market, but the menu is far from that, and the restaurant is not just a market. The menu features drinks from all over the world. So NEIN (NO), it's not just small plates. The entree's are big and feature a special European cuisine experience, perfect for a wünderbar practice for Oktoberfest adjacent fun.

This is a new restaurant in Pleasanton . The first one was in Campbell since 2011. The menu is extensive with many choices : from appetizer to main dishes , soups and salad , all the way to desserts . The Austria European cuisines are amazing . Ambience was great with the elegant decoration and jazz music . Great customer service . Wine and bar are great. The bar has many good red and white wines , European beers and many interesting cocktails . Their coffee menu is extensive , so many choices . The main dishes we tried were Hungarian beef goulash . Slow cooking beef shoulder in paprika served with herbed spatzle , sour cream and Fresno chilies . Also love the pork blade chop . The mushroom gravy was so delicious. It was cooked with honey mustard glaze and savory cabbage . I grew up in an international city with a lot of European cuisines. This brought back memories and activated all my taste buds . The cocktails are interesting. I like the blackberry bramble and crime of passion . Would like to try something new next time . Coffee menu looked amazing . We did not try this time . The dessert was fluffy vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote & vanilla bean ice cream . It was not too sweet and could taste the blueberry and the freshness . Ingredients of the food are fresh and top picked . Amazing cooking skills and great service . Price is on the high side but the portions are good . This would be some place I like to come for a special occasion. It was romantic , upscale and trendy .

Having been to the Naschmarkt Campbell location a few times, though its been years ago.. was happy to have a closer location to visit in Pleasanton! The ambiance is lovely and the staff were attentive. The prices seem a bit on the higher side but the portion sizes make up for it. Started with a bowl of each soup, the Chilled Cucumber & Avocado and the Garlic soup. They split the bowls for two people which was nice we didn't even ask. Both were tasty and unique! Followed by the Spätzle with Smoked Chicken and their special of the day which was a confit pork knuckle. The pork was topped with a light gravy and was served with red cabbage and some more spätzle. Sehr lecker!

Found this place on Yelp since i was traveling and orders it to go. After a long day of meetings. i just wanted a great dinner and go back to hotel. Upon entering was greeted by the owner/manager and he took my order for one of their barrel old fashioned drinks, this drink was spectacular, I ordered the wiener schnitzel (pork) and a side of spaetzle. Everything was delicious the wiener schnitzel with the lingonberry was a perfect pair. The ambiance was quiet and i look forward to returning and dining in instead of to go! Service was quick and friendly and would highly recommend this place for anybody to dine in or get as a to go order you won't be disappointed.

CLASSIC WIENER SCHNITZEL - Pork cutlet

While there's some good things I can say about this place (which I'll get to) I can't tolerate being served raw pork. Photo is of the CLASSIC WIENER SCHNITZEL pork cutlet. When it arrived it felt squishy but I couldn't see it properly due to dim lighting at the restaurant. Decided to just eat the edge pieces and save the rest for home since we had lots of other food so I could look at it at home. Was even more disgusted when I got home and saw how raw it was!! This was our 2nd time visiting and my family reminded me that the last time the pork also wasn't cooked properly. Im SO glad I didn't just eat it there! Also had the pork belly. The pear pairing was great, the pork belly tasted good but half the dish had to be thrown away because it was just sloppy gross fat. The sausage trio, pretzel and red cabbage side were all good. The mocktails were good! The best part and definitely worth going back for was the molten lava chocolate cake dessert but besides that I won't be eating anything here again. Service was also good.

Double cooked pork (I forgot actual dish name)

his spot popped up on Yelp when my wife and I were looking for dinner near Pleasanton, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and the menu featured what I believe is Austrian cuisine, which closely resembles German food. We ordered the sausage trio, and it was delicious. Each sausage was full of flavor and paired with its own vegetables, which made the dish feel well thought out. The double-cooked pork was phenomenal as well. It was cooked perfectly--tender with just the right amount of chew. Overall, everything we had was wonderful, and my wife and I would definitely come back again.

Went here for a birthday dinner with a party of 13. They started us out with drinks and apps, providing recommendations for both. Then we ordered dinner and the portions were huge (which is good given the price!). We got several desserts, the best one was the apple strudel. All the food came out in a timely manner and the wait staff was able to constantly check in on our group, making for a seamless experience. Most importantly, all the food was delicious. It will cost you a pretty penny, but as mentioned well worth the price. We will definitely be coming back!

Jager schnitzel with broccolini in mushroom sauce
Cynthia L.

Finally got to try this place and it did not disappoint. Everything from food to service to ambiance was top notch. Got seated quickly and our servers were super attentive. Helped recommend us food, gave bread, refilled bread and just mainly kept track of us. Food wise, we ordered their sausage trio with potato salad for the appetizer. For my entree, I had the jager schnitzel and my husband had the roulade. We then split the spatzle that came with my entree. For the sausages, they were all cooked well and tasted really good. The spicy sausage is spicy but just under the heat that a hot link would have. The other two sausages were flavorful too. Sauerkraut generally isn't my thing, but my husband loves that. I tried a bit of it and I will say it's the best sauerkraut I've had. Or at least one I can eat. The potato salad is basic but still good. Now the main entree was on a whole different level. The jager schnitzel was DELICIOUS. Mushroom sauce is my favorite. It's almost the same base of what I love in mushroom soup. The schnitzel was cooked well. I like the non fried version honestly. Spatzle was really good. A bit heavy from the butter I think but it's still a solid dish. I tasted the roulade and while it was good, it wasn't my thing. I didn't get to order dessert since we were full and I want to order the goulash next time. So guess I just have to come back! Otherwise as far as ambiance was concerned, I could have a conversation and not yell. Bless.

A Charming Birthday Celebration in Downtown Pleasanton!…read more We came to Ruby's & Roses, located at the end of historic downtown Pleasanton, to celebrate a friend's birthday. The restaurant itself is exceptionally charming with fantastic decor and a wonderful vibe--we couldn't resist taking a few pictures before sitting down! The staff throughout the restaurant are super friendly, and our waitress, Natalia, was outstanding. She was efficient, warm, and made our entire dining experience seamless and special. The food and drinks made for a fantastic night out: * Beet Salad: This was so good we had to order a repeat! It featured the most amazing garlic goat cheese, crisp, fresh arugula leaves, and a top-notch dressing. * Mango Spicy Glazed Chicken Wings: Arrived warm, perfectly crispy, and packed with incredible flavor. * Side Bread: Served warm with delicious garlic butter. * Lamb Chops: Really well-made and tender with great flavor. The only minor downside was that the portion felt a bit light given the price tag, but the taste was definitely there. * Street Noodles with Prawns: Incredibly tasty, rich, and full of flavor--a total winner for the main course. * Cocktails & Espresso Martini: We tried a few great cocktails, but the star of the entire evening was hands down the espresso martini. Absolutely amazing! * Warm Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream: Ended the meal on a sweet note with this warm, decadent chocolate cake paired with ice cream--it was super rich and delicious. At that time there were no other patrons dining and the staff by the bar were loud and talking about whatever and that was annoying. Our server looked sloppy, long hair not neatly done and wrinkled old looking uniform. Service was a little rushed. She kept coming back asking if we were ready and my friend had explained that we wanted to enjoy a cocktail first. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer. It was flavorful but had too much lime no peanuts and could have been crispier. We both ordered the Petrale sole with beans and vegetables. The fish was dry and had no sauce, not seasoned well and very lackluster for $40. The beans were the best part unfortunately. After recently having a sole dish at Absinthe which was out of this world, this was disappointing. The noise level was horrible and we could not even hear each other to carry on a conversation so left shortly after finishing our meal rather than enjoying a dessert and after dinner drink. I'm so happy I finally tried it before they move locations, even if it is only across the street. We tried lots of food and almost everything made me want to come back again. The pumpkin borani with the yogurt sauce on top was the star of the show for me. The garlic hummus was one of the best hummus I've tried because they really don't skimp on the garlic! The dolmathes were more standard compared to the rest, but this platter is still a must get for a group, even though it was just the two of us. Spicy beef cigar rolls (10/10): The flavor was amazingggg and they were so crispy. As an Asian, it felt like a unique version of an eggroll to me, and the tzatziki was the perfect complement. I will get this dish every time. Koobideh kabob platter (9.5/10): Amazing spices and cooked so well. The spicy harissa was nice, although I wouldn't get extra sauce next time since our appetizers already came with similar sauces we could use.
