Wildseed is a plant-based restaurant that knows what it's doing. We ordered the Fancy Yellow Juice (5/5), pineapple, orange, turmeric, ginger, and lemon, and it was refreshing and genuinely interesting, not just a wellness shot. The food followed suit. Beet Poke (4.5/5) was a standout, with ginger sesame vinaigrette, taro chips, and seaweed salad making it feel truly intentional. Hummus Basar (4.5/5) was bold and satisfying, and the Lemon Poppyseed Shortcake (4.5/5) closed things out beautifully. Skip the Potato Pizza (3/5), which felt flat compared to everything else on the table. Service was attentive without hovering, and the outdoor setting is gorgeous. Wildseed knows how to feed a crowd without dumbing anything down. We'll be back.

Ranks in my top 10 All time favorite vegan restaurants in the country. Honestly I find the Palo Alto location more satisfying, can't tell the right reason... maybe it's a combination of experience with staff, location, and the cozy ambiance. I am a fan of the brunch options and what they accomplished with the vegan food there. I had a great experience for a recent dinner on March 13th, especially because of the kind gentleman serving us patiently with a smile. I wish I remembered his name. We loved the food and huge likes for the desserts , so good!! I loved the vegan feta cheese.. especially... great texture! The salad dressing, the falafel, the chocolate cake and GF cookie, were an amazing!!

So originally the plan with my girl friend was to dine at Teleféric Barcelona a couple steps away from Wildseed but their waitlist was 2.5 hours in a Thursday night! We walked into Wildseed and were greeted with a hello and "do you have reservations?" to which we felt was going to be a repeat of Teleféric but when we said that we didn't they offered us outside or the high table by the entry. We were delighted we could eat inside since it was a chilly weeknight in January 2026 and didn't mind that it was a vegetarian menu. FOOD We had the cauliflower appetizer and the beets tostadas appetizer, both of which were absolutely delicious! We didn't even think about missing meat products which I expected as a person with an omnivore diet. My friend had the orecchiette pasta and I had the tofu tikki masala. We both throughly enjoyed our dishes and even got full before we could finish! I was shocked given it was meatless. The portions aren't small but neither too big. Just right like Miss Goldilocks, the criminal would say. AMBIANCE The place is bright airy and open with a view of the happenings in the kitchen. Always a delight to be able to see your food being prepared because it shows transparency and maintains a standard of cleanliness. SERVICE Our waitress was incredibly friendly and even confirmed that our two appetizer choices were exactly what she recommends to her guests! We definitely "beet" her to the punchline for those tostadas and cauliflower appetizer choices! The women's restroom was out of order that night and the waitress got another male staff member to check that the bathroom was empty before allowing my female friend to use it. She even stayed by the door and chatted with me while my friend was in the restroom to make sure she didn't get a surprise visit from a male guest. BOTTOM LINE TLDR; great tasting food that actually gets you full and feels healthy with friendly staff!

    Hawaiian pizza

Came in for a cleaner light dinner after the cooking class. The menus are all vegan with a variety of drink options including draft Konbucha on tap and mocktails. The bartender was attentive and kind, and the Hawaiian pizza came in quickly after we ordered it. I liked the thin crispy dough, and the vegan cheese tasted good. Good for our purpose (clean lighter meal) but could be too light for other people. I liked my mango yuzu kombucha that came in a beer glass - felt a little boozy for some reasons but I might be just tired - and hope it doesn't have ABV in it from fermentation cause I'm in my last trimester. Will return for a quick cleaner meal option

The interior of this restaurant was so pretty! I like how they decorate with plants and it looked clean. Although the food doesn't look too beautiful, it tasted amazing and so flavorful. It was fresh, piping hot, and filling. Our server was nice in helping us order. We came at lunch time on Sunday so there was a 20 minute wait but they put your number down and will text you once your table is ready so we walked around the plaza to kill time.

    MUSHROOM ZEPPOLE

Showed up at around 6:30pm on Wednesday without a reservation and it was pretty busy. We were able to snag one of the high top tables located near the bar. We decided to order the following to share: 1) Wild Mushroom Zeppole - yum! I love mushrooms so this was a good one. Quite tasty. 2) Fries - arrived hot and crispy and served with a chipotle aioli, herb aioli, and ketchup. Can't go wrong with hot and crispy fries. 3) Winter pizza - enjoyed the thin crust and all of the toppings. It was light and full of flavor. We enjoyed all of the dishes. I'd return to try other menu items.

Another phenomenal experience at Wildseed! This place is so special. This time, it was just my girls and I. We tried many dishes, and the only two I didn't fully connect with were the cauliflower dish and the beet tacos. That isn't to say that they weren't excellent--just not my personal favorites. We had tastes of at least 6 other things, and they were all terrific!!!! An easy five stars for innovative and delicious food plus superstar service. Thank you, Wildseed!!

Lovely ambience. great food .. amazing service and good options for vegan Portion sze is amazing too .. freindly staff Will go again and again

The food is incredible--rich, creamy, and you'd never guess it's vegan. Even my meat-loving partner, who's usually skeptical of vegan dishes, said, "This is rewriting the narrative of vegan food for me." They offer a rotating seasonal menu, fantastic cocktails, and consistently delicious dishes. The service is excellent, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, filled with plants and a clean, modern aesthetic.

The MASALA BOWL , smaller portion size than I would like.

This was my second time at Wildseed Palo Alto, the first time was for lunch on their patio in the summer, which was especially nice, I prefer the lunch menu actually. Service has been consistently good here and the ambience is fabulous and upscale which is perfect for an elevated meal out or special occasions with a big group. This is not the best vegan food I've had, but with few and far between upscale-all-vegan-restaurants nowadays, it's a nice place for a special event.

French toast, beautifully presented, with a decaf Americano. March 2026.
    Kathy J.

It's definitely helped to have reservations, especially on a Sunday, high noon. We were seated inside. The outdoor patio, shaded by trees, looked comfortable and quiet like you didn't need to raise your voice even with traffic and people walking by, but no tables were available unfortunately. Being my first time here, I had a very pleasant experience and enjoyed my French toast, topped with fresh berries. They provide a carafe of water for convenience. My Americano was strong. The friendly and attentive wait staff - solid. As for the parking, bring patience for coming and going. I arrived around 11:30 am and after a few minutes behind other drivers, I found my spot in the area north of Trader Joe's and as I walked toward Wildseed, could still see open spots at the eastern edge.

    Their lavender mocktail
    Isabel L.

The many times I've gone to Wildseed they never disappoint. I'm so glad there's a restaurant that's not only vegan but also caters to gluten free individuals. The workers are very mindful about anyone's dietary restrictions explaining that there can be cross contamination in the kitchen which is valid. I also feel this restaurant is great for anyone who is seed oil free, definitely check in with your waiter if you are so they can gear you towards the right food. The restaurant is the same shopping center at the Trader Joe's in Palo Alto, parking lot can get a bit busy but it's ultimately not hard to find a parking. I love that they have a mocktail menu. I recently had their lavender mocktail, it was so cute and very refreshing! Definitely try their Mezze platter, my understanding is that they make their own cashew cheese in house, so good!

    Curried Chickpea Tartine
    Ashwini A.

SERVICE - located in the town and country shopping center in Palo Alto - parking can be hard to find especially during busier hours - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - indoor decor is plant themed which makes it feel natural and welcoming - staff are friendly and check in frequently on table - food served relatively quickly - ambiance good for a semi casual meal MENU - cafe menu of small plates, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads - all vegan/vegetarian - average price ($17 for entree) FOOD - curried chickpea tartine (8/10): toasted sourdough topped with chickpeas mixed in turmeric mayonnaise with celery, onion, and raisins and served with chips. This is such a great summer lunch. The tartine is light in flavor yet filling with the hearty chickpeas and crunchy bread. I love the tang of the sourdough paired with the richness of the turmeric mayo. With such a refreshing toast I would have preferred a side salad or roasted potatoes rather than chips. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The menu is great for any time of day and the ambiance is welcoming.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

Food: 3 / 5 Service: 3 / 5…read more Ambiance: 2 / 5 Let's start off by making sure that we're all on the same page... This is NOT a speakeasy. Using that language sets up an expectation that neither the ambiance nor the vibe is able to live up to. I can only assume that those reviews that commend this place as a speakeasy have never actually been to a real speakeasy and are more accustomed to box restaurants and bars. I sat at the bar and ordered a bourbon neat with a water back. There were three staff members behind the bar, none of them were particularly friendly or outgoing, which as someone who worked in the industry for years is surprising as a new establishment. Even though it was happy hour time, it was a Wednesday the place was less than half full and good servers /bartenders normally add to the experience and help creat a customer base of regulars to sustain business after the "come see" crowd is over. I ordered d' nuts as a snack and they weren't very special, even a bit overcooked / burnt. Maybe this place is exciting for a Palo Alto crowd that doesn't get out much, especially on the stretch of California given the lack of competition. My guess is that after a few months they will be hard-pressed to find a steady crowd.

I got 2 quesobirria tacos and 2 tacos al pastor, and visually everything looked on point -- the plating was clean, tacos looked well-stuffed, and the birria tortillas had that nice golden crisp. But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

If you care about your waistline, do not get the Umami Fries with curried ketchup; that pile of deliciousness will have you addicted like a fiend with its tangy, savory flavoring. Deviled Eggs were standard, if not for the hint of kimchi. I didn't try the Chicken & Waffles or BLT my table ordered. I ate my fair share of Lemon Butter Prawns; a side comes with six pieces & trust me, you won't want to share. The Loco Moco was incredible -- earthy mushroom gravy over sticky sushi rice and a chuck & brisket patty. Topped with an egg (made over medium like I requested) & finished with a side of arugula salad (my favorite greens) & I was full for days (just kidding, hours.) We ordered a lightly-dressed Caesar Salad with avocado just to cleanse our palates from all the rich textures & flavors. I'll be back for dinner STAT, so please save me a seat.

Our absolute favorite? The vegan tacos and yes, we're not vegan. We always pair them with a side of refried beans and chiles toreados, and it hits every time. What makes this place stand out is how incredibly flavorful and satisfying their meat-free options are. Vegan dishes can be hit or miss, but this is a full on hit. The menu overall is solid across the board. You can pretty much close your eyes, point, and end up happy. Brunch is also top tier. The pancakes are excellent, and the traditional Mexican dishes like chilaquiles and huevos rancheros are comforting, flavorful, and consistently well done. Must try cocktail: the Chapulín. When it first comes out, you might think they brought you a green juice, but trust us, this one will surprise you in the best way. It's made with jalapeño-infused tequila and packs a flavorful punch. Fair warning: if you're one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes like soap, this one may not be for you since it's part of the mix. Service is consistently great. The staff is attentive, friendly, and makes the whole experience feel easy. And honestly, there's not a bad seat in the house whether you're outside, inside, or at the bar.

Cooking out the liquid from squash, tomatoes or mushrooms is cooking 101, in my book. Their mole is an American version and not at all a traditional one. Beware. Service and ambience are fine.

This review is for the private event experience not regular dining. Service - Incredible! The servers were very attentive and food came out seamlessly. Ambiance - The private room is divine. Classically decorated. Very quiet. We had 22 people and it did not feel crowded. Zola did the flowers for the tables and they were beautiful. Food - Absolutely delicious. I wish I'd taken photos of all the dishes, but I got distracted A few key dishes (all but the salad and desserts were served family style): Chickpea Panise - absolutely divine. So flavorful. (Picture included) Bib lettuce salad - delicious. Bright. (Picture included) Bread and butter - omg. I couldn't stop eating it. Olives - was told they were awesome, I'm not an olive fan (Picture included) Chicken and salmon - both were to die for. So good. Crème brûlée and chocolate mousse - perfect small size with big bold flavors. Both were amazing. (Picture included) They also baked her a beautiful strawberry cake. It was fresh and very tasty. There were more dishes that were also all delicious. I included a copy of the menu too. The birthday girl selected the menu options. Highly recommend for a private event.

I went to Bar Loretta in Menlo Park for a night out with friends. I was excited because the…read morebuilding was one of the first places the Grateful Dead played in and I assumed the establishment therein would inherit or be somewhat true to the deadhead vibe. I was the Designated Driver so I ordered an Iced Tea while others in the group ordered expensive double whiskeys and top shelf cocktails, The owner of the bar comes up to me and says, and I quote, " I paid 1.5 million dollars for this bar, you can't come in here and order iced tea, It's not a coffee shop, you need to order something more expensive" Despite a lifetime of experience of ordering food and drink, apparently I ,the customer, ordered wrong. Not having Iced Tea at a bar is like not having vanilla at Baskin Robbins. There are non-alcoholic drinks here which I was well aware of, but mocktails are usually full of sugar or zero-proof alcohols which often taste like salted donkey anus, So that's not happening with me. After taking a second to process, I put 2 & 2 together and thought this was a money issue, So I said "I don't care, charge me whatever, but I would like an iced tea" and the response from the owner was " I don't care, GO FUCK YOURSELF, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY BAR" as he pulled all of the entire groups drinks back over the bar and started gesticulating wildly. At which point further "Pleasantries" were exchanged across the bar and at the end of it all no additions to police records were incurred and we parted ways. This gatekeeping and aggressively inappropriate behavior seemed wildly incongruent with the mantra of "What would Jerry do" ( Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead ). Regardless, I am never going there again, nor their sister restaurant Bistro Vida. This pretentious, overpriced, clown show of a venue can collapse in on itself as far as I care. The bars decor of cosplaying as a secretive 1920's speakeasy burnishes the venue's lack of differentiation which is in direct conflict with the bars new money aspirations of being elite or exclusive. The ridiculous idea that the owner spent X dollars necessitates you ,the customer, spending Y dollars breaks all social conventions that I have known throughout my entire life. There is no reason for a host/owner to behave like a foul mouthed spoiled child when asked for the basest of requests. The kicker is that this is not new behaviour from the owner and has been a long running aspect of the business https://yelp.to/rVUTLHQ53y ( review from 9 months from my encounter ) I refuse to support businesses that don't respect their customers. We were attended to by four staff members, and while that may sound like a lot, their service was seamless. Every movement felt intentional and unobtrusive, enhancing rather than interrupting the ambiance. The craftsmanship of the food--wow. This Michelin rating is absolutely well deserved. Each dish had such depth of flavor that we couldn't help but murmur "mmm" with every bite. The presentation was, of course, stunning, with flavors that matched the beauty on the plate. I can't wait to return and experience the dining room next. I highly recommend adding Protégé to your "Best of the Bay" list.
