Great Cocktails!
Michelle L.

Random bar near the RWC Caltrain station that surprisingly stayed open on the later side (we're talking past 10pm!) while all the other eateries went to sleep (it was a school night). Service was efficient, not the friendliest but can't complain because drinks were consistent and well made. My girlfriend and I caught up in the front patio area and went through multiple rounds -- music indoors was on the louder side. Bathroom situation isn't ideal so plan to hold your pee!

My friend and I decided to have a couple late night drinks in Nighthawk. The music drew us in. They were playing OM Records style house music- the likes of Miguel Migs, and Lisa Shaw. Since, there were two of us we decided to sit at the bar, but the lounge seating looked inviting also. Looks like they also have a patio, but it was brisk last night. Carlos was the bartender. We started off with a mojito, and I asked for the Love For Shrub tequila cocktail. I enjoyed it but was feeling like a Paloma next. They didn't have any fresh grapefruit juice for my Paloma. So I asked for a Tequila Smash- lime, orange juice or lemon juice, mint and tequila. I knew Carlos may not be familiar with my request, but he was nice enough to look at the ingredients on my phone and make an amazing cocktail- even putting in the extra work to squeeze the oranges for us. Thank you Carlos! We would not do this if the bar was super busy, but we both appreciated his solicitousness. There's no food here, but apparently you can bring in food according to another Yelper. This is more like an after dinner cocktail joint for me. It's the music that drew me in. It's likely I'll be back again. The atmosphere was pleasant and fun.

This restaurant's ambiance is unmatched. Decorated really well, with it being outdoor but feels very indoor with how well the plants and tables are set up. Flames, fountains and greenery everywhere. Our server was very helpful, our group has some restrictions and allergies but we were able to find a good balance of items to share. We ordered the meze collection to start off to share. Every was very fresh and we are every single bit. We also had the Greek salad, which was very finely chopped. We ordered another order of hummus/pita. Our second pita was very different from the first, didn't seem consistent as the night went one. We had the salmon plate as well which was good. I would say the food was decent but it's not really what you come to this place for mainly. Plan to come back to try some of their yummy drinks!

3.5 stars. Good bar, pretty laid back. Good cocktails, not great though. Decent service. I like the indoor/outdoor area.

Arrived around 9:30 PM on a Friday night and the bar was full but not packed. The space is small with one bathroom (the door didn't lock!!!) The drinks were well made and the music was as extremely loud (EDM). I didn't have any issues ordering the drinks with staff, like some other reviewers pointed out. It was a fun stop on a girls night out.

The bartender was really good and oh my the cocktails were fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The music is relaxing and you feel very comfortable.

I had a cosmopolitan and it was delish! I have also had an espresso martini here before and they are very good as well. Perfect place for an after dinner drink!

Loved the vibe at Nighthawk. The indoor space had great music and cozy energy, while the outdoor seating was perfect for people-watching and soaking in the downtown Redwood City buzz. I started with the Love For Shrub, but it ended up being way too sweet for my taste. I usually just deal with it, but this time I asked the bartender if I could switch--and they were incredibly kind about it. They even offered two wine samples to help me find a better fit. I didn't go with either, but the gesture was appreciated. Landed on an Old Fashioned, which turned out to be exactly what I needed. Great service, strong drinks, and a space I'd gladly come back to.

Went here for a drink before dinner. The vibe is very dark with loud music on Fridays, so definitely more of a lively spot. It's a casual place that works for a date or grabbing drinks with friends. The cocktails were good, just a bit on the pricier side. Service was pretty mid, but overall still a decent stop for a quick drink.

I don't usually go downtown but when I do, I like to go to nighthawk. The vibe is totally fun, the DJ plays, great music, and I always have a good time with my friends. The only downfall is the time it takes to get a drink when it's busy on the weekends.

Meltem O.

The ambiance was actually really nice. The cocktail and the music were great. But the woman at the bar was incredibly unfriendly--completely expressionless. A little smile wouldn't hurt, but nope, nothing. We were hoping to grab a bite while enjoying our drinks, but there was no food on the menu. We didn't notice that before sitting down. Since we were hungry, we ended up leaving early. Otherwise, we would've stayed longer and tried more cocktails. I'd still love to go back and give it another shot.

Update: consistently delicious craft cocktails. Quiet and good for conversation/date night some nights, but on Friday and Saturday it's more packed and loud with a DJ.

3.5 STARS Dates: Thursday, September 22nd, 2022 - 6:45pm Saturday, April 15th, 2023 - around 12:45am *Native Sons ($14) *Ginger Beer ($3) I've been here twice. Once before dinner and another time after dinner. The order above was from my 2022 visit. It was a chill Thurs night and not too busy. So we sat at the bar and I enjoyed a cocktail. The later visit in 2023 was late and a Fri, so packed. We had to make our way to the bar and talk over the noise to order. Your typically bar with loud music, maybe some people randomly dancing, etc. I'm old, so I preferred the more chill vibe. Fun spot to grab a cocktail. I just wish it wasn't so chaotic on a Fri night. Definitely would only come back on a slower weekday evening. Yes, gma, right here! REVIEW #3610

It's 9pm and I'm just walking down Laurel Street, which by the way has some REALLY good spots, they really do, and then. THEN. I hear it. Pianos. Two of them. Are they fighting?? No wait, they're DUELING. Two guys absolutely going at it on the keys, taking requests, and the crowd is just vibing. I mean really vibing. The cocktails are flowing, people are singing, and somewhere in the back of my head a little voice says "this is going to be a late night." I did not listen to that voice. No regrets. The whiskey selection is, and I say this with complete authority and only slightly blurry vision, "surprisingly incredible". The cocktails are also dialed in, they've got concoctions on the menu that you may have never heard of, or just pick the vibe you're going for and trust the process. I trusted the process. Multiple times. I used to go to Savannah Jazz back in the day. RIP, still not over it, but honestly?? This place might actually be BETTER. I said what I said. The music hits different when it's right in the middle of the whole room instead of tucked in the back somewhere. Oh and there's an outdoor area too for when you need some of that cool peninsula night air to... recalibrate. I used it. It helped. Briefly.

Seven months ago: I wanted to try the Nomadic Kitchen, but…read morethey'd close before I got there. Next choice was Pasha, with a covered patio & hookah lounge, as well as a large open space inside. The lemonade cost $7, which I wasn't willing to pay unless it was at least 20 oz. Iced tea isn't listed on the menu, so I asked. Made of freshly brewed real tea the day, it was quite welcome. The tea was served in a cut/molded glass pineapple shaped glass. Truly practical: good grip, less likely to slip. Uncommon, but attractive. I ordered the salmon wrapped in lavash bread, minus onions & mayo. I asked for hummus bi tahini instead. There was lettuce, cucumber, & unripe tomatoes (It's tomato season, folks, but most restaurant produce suppliers just sell for bulk, not necessarily peak/in season. That's a different, more costly supplier) inside the wrap, the char-grilled salmon just right. I'd say that even if I had eaten earlier. The salad was marinated (I think) red cabbage over lettuce, cukes, & pale tomato. The whole meal--no dessert--was really tasty and welcome. The staff was pleasant, the food was true to its eastern Mediterranean roots. While ostensibly Turkish, there were Armenian and Greek elements (erm, both done wrong by the Turks). I did get a top-off offer for my iced tea, which I happily accepted. My meal was just over $20, including tax. I'm going back next time I have a medical appointment at the Redwood City Stanford Clinics--or a special trip to Sigona's (after I e. As Kaiser offices & hospital are nearby, KP members can enjoy a pleasant meal at Pasha as well. Here, I hope, are photos of the iced tea glass, and the ceiling of the ladies' room. 5/22/26 Meal photo taken after I started to eat, in order to enjoy the fish while hot. Grilled salmon had a sauce to add to the lovely flavor, but was slightly overdone for my taste/ uniform pink, as opposed to darker pink center, which if reheated, will not be too dry. In spite of using red onion instead of the whites of green onions, the tabbouleh was just right. The red onion dice didn't bite, as un- or slightly cooked onions do to me. The tomatoes were ripe, too. I have to take most of the tabbouleh and pita, and half the salmon home: portions bigger than stomach. Happy tum!

There was a lot of miscommunication between employees, one staff member told us one thing, then another employee came over and told us the opposite. It honestly felt unorganized and confusing, and when we tried to clarify, the interactions came across as rude rather than helpful. Before coming, we had already noticed the reviews were pretty mixed, with a lot of people praising the food but also many mentioning issues with the service. Sadly, after our experience, we can understand why. Customer service really sets the tone for the whole experience, and unfortunately the staff interaction alone was enough for us to decide to leave instead of staying to dine in. We genuinely wanted to give this place a fair chance since we drove so far for it, but the overall experience just didn't make us feel welcomed.

It's been a minute since I've been to LV Mar but the food is still tasty, albeit a bit pricey. They are kind of the upscale sister to La Viga afterall. We started the meal with the birria fries which were pretty good. I liked the huge chunks of beef which were really nice and tender but I would have liked to see more inclusion of birria into the dish instead of just the meat, like maybe some of the consommé on the side to dip or maybe tossing some cilantro, onions with the cheese or giving it that fresh squeeze of lime. As is, it's fries with some melted cheese and the chunks of birria. Good, but not a standout to me. My personal favorite came with my tacos. I really liked the scallop taco which came on a jicama "tortilla". It was sweet but crisp and worked well with the fried scallop which was also done well and not over fried. I also really liked the huitlacoche which is a bit of a rare find. It's like corn and mushrooms had a baby. It was really tasty. Both of these completely outdid the pork belly taco which was honestly very good in its own right too. The only downside is that the price is about $8 PER TACO which is a lot so while I applaude the creativity for some, that's tough to choose regularly. Overall, food was good and the vibe was fun. It's a good option on Broadway in Redwood City (but yes, I also think you should choose La Viga first).
