It's connected to…read moreCurry Pizza House just next to the Sequoia Station Caltrain stop, and I never thought to stop there for a drink & some bites before heading to DTRWC for their many entertainment venues & restaurants along Broadway Street (Century 20 movies, Little Fox Theater, clubs, bars, and street events), but we did today! It was SO WORTH IT. Such a nice little bar-section offering a comfortable space, great service, and a good selection of beers, cocktails, and even food. Located just next to Box, the Caltrain Station, and facing the Middlefield Promenade, this discrete & small bar is easy to miss. You'd have to look for Curry Pizza House and it's immediately next door. The room is bright, airy, clean, and well layed out. It has a big bar counter, and some smaller tables & cafe tables to accomodate maybe 20-30 people. It has 3 TV screens going on all day long showing local sporting events like Valkyrie's, Warriors, College Basketball, MLBaseball, Soccer, and College & NFL football games. It has tall ceilings, lots of airy space, it's bright, clean, and spacious for being so small. The bar is stocked with local craft beers, ciders, IPA's, hazy's, lagers, Pilsner's, Stouts, and ales. They even make good cocktails here. We happened upon Happy Hour here before going to a 7pm movie, so we had to try it. I tried the 1911 Cider, a Hazy IPA, and a Lager, while my friend tried a Sour, Pilsner, and a couple of cocktails like the Hibiscus Highball & Apple Maple Barrel Bourbon. Every drink was delicious & reasonably priced, esp during happy hour ($7 taps, $2 off cocktails). Service was excellent from the sole bartender. He was attentive, helpful, nice, and engaging. He serves excellent drinks, with a friendly & professional demeanor. He even guided us around to ordering food, and we got some small bites such as the Desi Garlic Sticks, Masa Chips, and the Onion Samosa. You can even order anything off the menu from the Curry Pizza House next door, we will try that next time. The food was excellent, fresh, hot, tasty, and served in reasonably-priced & very big portions. The garlic sticks were particularly good, and not even sticks, but equivalent to a small pizza-sized, such a great value for $10. Will be back again, this is my new favorite bar in DTRWC. I love the atmosphere, service, drink selection, small food bites, and most of all, the cheap prices, considering that everything in this area is very expensive. Can't wait to try more drinks, food, and spending more time here. It's very casual and bright, and doesn't have the feel of a singles meat-market bar, dive bar, or a techie gathering hole full of attitude & testosterone. It is very casual, friendly, relaxed, and fun here. They play soft modern music in the background, which lends to an upbeat & fun atmosphere, and it is a nice place to unwind, pre-game, or just relax and watch a few sporting events on TV while snacking on appetizers & washing everything down with some great drinks. 5/5, best new bar I've discovered in a long time, quite by accident. I never even noticed or knew that this place existed. Hidden Tap is appropriately named, it is quite hidden, but now that I know it's there, I'll surely come back every time I'm in this area, which is often.

We arrived starving after a long hike at nearby Corte de Madera, and were craving some comfort food and beer to appease our appetites, and Ghostwood hit the spot! The Good: * Street, lot, and garage parking available, but more on that later. * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Game room in the back with pool, pinball, and other forms of entertainment. * 50% off all drinks Fri & Sat night from 9 p.m. until closing. * Happy Hour Mon - Fri 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. * QR code menu ordering and payment through Toast, which is our favorite. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Fresh housemade beers and full complement of spirits and mixed drinks. * Chicken Tacos were a pleasant surprise, as they were delicious and packed with chicken and toppings. * Redwood Rodeo Burger was an outstanding smashburger! So much flavor and the meat-to-toppings-to-bread ratio was perfect. Definitely hit the spot! * Special big ups to the Beef Tallow Fries that were crispy and just fantastic. The Meh: * It is a family-friendly establishment, so prepare for unsupervised kids running amok in the game room while the parents get plastered. -_- * I thought the Fried Pickles were pretty good, but Carissa felt like they needed more batter or something. The Ugly: * Downtown Redwood City can be extremely popular, especially on weekends, so parking can be a real hassle. I'd recommend finding the Jefferson Avenue Garage which gives you the first two hours for free. Conclusion: Come for the beer but stay for the food. Highly recommended.

All visitors have gone thru the challenges of life despite their differences--respectfully. We were in Redwood City, and the local Oktoberfest celebration looked like a huge scam with its ticketing system and required payment to enter. Plus, we don't even drink that much. It was a Sunday afternoon and not too crowded, since the Oktoberfest was happening a few blocks away. I got a stout they had on draft, and my boyfriend and I shared a pretzel and some sausages. Everything was perfect. The beer was great, poured well and in an appropriate glass. The pretzel was perfectly warm and soft, and we liked the beer cheese sauce. They had a range of self-serve mustards that I really appreciated. The sausages were also really good. Service was fast and friendly. We'll definitely go back when the craving hits!

I knew it was on California Ave. This was an old haunt of mine back when The Edge dance club was the place to be in this part of Palo Alto. Over the years I had still visited the area for its restaurants and the old camera store Keeble & Shuchat (closed for many years). Stepping into the very dark bar lit by small candles on the table I was immediately reminded at how old I was. It would say it was intimate, but it was a bit too loud to be that. However, it did have an intimate vibe. This joint's specialty (I assumed) was a menu full of house drinks. Sadly, I did not recognize any of them. I went with "You Should Try It" and it was fine. I could not describe what it tasted like, other than it was a mixed drink. My buddy ordered a "Vesper" but it didn't seem like the one Daniel Craig ordered in "Casino Royale". Service was okay and our server was very busy. Still, we got our drinks without having to wait too long. I had forgotten what it was like to go to a popular bar. Pic time.

June 2026 -- Santa Clara, CA Beer, Brats, Bladder Strategy…read more Pretty fun place. Good food. Great place to watch a World Cup soccer game. One word of warning: arrive with an empty bladder and a working relationship with patience, because the restroom line moves like it is being reviewed by a committee. Das Bierhauz is located right next to the VTA and Caltrain station, which makes it a very practical stop before heading to a game at Levi's Stadium. There is shaded outdoor seating and indoor seating, but this place fills up fast. Do not show up late and expect the universe to hand you a table. The universe has other appointments. The beer selection is very good. We got there around 6 PM before the Austria vs. Jordan World Cup match, and the stouts were already sold out. That tells you two things: people know what they are doing here, and you may need to move with purpose. Order the huge 20 oz glass if you want to have fun. It is not subtle. It announces itself. Food-wise, the combination appetizer is a strong move for a group of three or four. It comes with hummus, crushed eggplant, olives, a cucumber-yogurt-style dip, and other Mediterranean support staff. For the main dish, I recommend the veal knockwurst with fries. It was simple, filling, and did its job without trying to explain itself. The ordering system is where things get a little loose. Seating is basically self-directed, which means the bold inherit the tables. The line to order can feel scattered, although the menu is clearly posted above the cashier. You order, pay, receive one of those coaster number things, then sit down and trust that civilization will continue. To their credit, the staff found us with the beer and food without incident. There were TVs everywhere showing Argentina vs. Algeria, and with the international crowd in the room, the energy was like getting electrocuted by friendly aliens experimenting on how to make adrenaline surges in the body lightning fast. Loud, lively, and just the right amount of chaotic. Overall, I would give Das Bierhauz a 4 out of 5. I would not want to be here when it is absolutely packed, mostly because the queue system could become chaotic like a school of fish in a class on how to properly get into an auto accident. That said, the staff were reliable, the food was good, the beer was strong, and the location is hard to beat before a game.
