Chicken seekh
Melissa G.

This place is very good. Of the seven dishes we had, only one missed the mark. We had the taro root chaat, flaxseed poee, king trumpet mushrooms, woodfire chicken seekh, hispi cabbage, Eylan chicken yakhni pulao and a granita desert. Everything was excellent (except the chicken pulao), super flavorful and wonderfully textured. I really appreciate a restaurant that can take a humble ingredient like cabbage and make it taste better than a meat dish. Using a taro root chip was a super cool way to serve chaat because it doesn't get soggy. I was weary of ordering this at first because there is no shortage of good (affordable) chaat spots in the area. But wow it ended up being so good. Chicken pulao was no good. The chicken was very dry. Id rather go to paradise in Santa Clara to get a nice biryani. But one dish as a miss is okay in my book since everything else was exceptional. Service was excellent, they had really nice mocktails and the space is beautiful.

Great atmosphere and decor, fun and not overly formal. Servers were observant and helpful, but we waited quite a while for our food. It had also been a hot day, though, and the space was uncomfortably warm. We tried half a dozen items and all were tasty, but the cost is pretty high for what you get, probably close to $3 per bite. Fried chicken was our favorite dish, Cornish hens, and ground chicken kebabs were also great. Paneer stuffed roti was good, Eylan Eye tasty but quite small. I'd come again, but a bit spendy for what you get.

Beautiful restaurant! Stylish and modern with chic Indian style. I'd requested to be seated near the indoor tree. Fellow Yelp friends Harmanjeet K. & Aurko G. and I were seated at a table 10 feet away, still within viewing distance. It was packed on a Thursday in November. Make sure to secure a dinner reservation. Drinks: *Everything But The Gimlet *Techies, Guns, & Money We ordered another drink but I forgot the name. Eats: *Chilled Green Grape Chaas (pani puri) *Eylan Crispy Chicken x2 *Kohlrabi & Pineapple *Woodfire Chicken Seekh skewer *Anar Chicken Sigri skewer *Roasted Cornish Hen *Eylan Chicken (Yakhni Pulao) *Paratha Dessert: *Shaved "Mango Lassi" *Frozen "Shrikhand" x2 The Techies drink was too strong for me so we switched it out for the green Everything but the Gimlet. First time having pani puri and it was quite the chilled, crispy experience! I loved it! It's a mouthful though. So many chicken dishes and amazing flavors! I liked the sauce from the fried chicken. Paratha(?) scooped up the sauces wonderfully. My friends ordered the dishes so I wasn't always sure what I was eating but it was great! Dessert was impressive! Shaved mango lassi was sweet and the perfect ending. I liked the passionfruit sauce pooled around the shrikhand (block of frozen yogurt). Underground parking can be accessed via two ways, east side of el camino when heading north via Middle Ave or right past the place. Make sure to take the correct elevator up closer to the parking entrance, not the Villa Menlo Park elevator.

We finally made it to Eylan after having loved Ettan and Copra for years, it had been on our list forever, and the new weekend brunch felt like the perfect excuse to go. One thing to note: the brunch menu is brand new, so all the Yelp/Google research honestly didn't help much going in. But that also made the experience fun. The space is beautiful the moment you walk in with the entrance rickshaw, patterned tiles, bold wall art, and warm lighting make it feel upscale but still relaxed. Compared to Ettan, the pacing here felt noticeably calmer, which worked perfectly for a slow, rainy day brunch today. For food, we shared a bunch of dishes: The chicken tikka puff was easily the standout and something I would go back for alone. It had flaky puff pastry stuffed with chicken tikka and served with tikka masala around it, super creative and genuinely delicious. The anar chicken sigri (chicken kebab) is wood fired and tasted delicious with the chutney. The moong dal vada chaat was refreshing and familiar in the best way, similar spirit to Copra/Ettan chaats but still nicely balanced. For mains, we ordered the chicken yakhni pulao. The rice and chicken were both deeply flavorful and comforting without feeling heavy. Since it was cold and rainy, the masala chai absolutely hit the spot, warm, aromatic, and cozy. Dessert was the tender coconut & lychee payasam, which was light, refreshing, and a great finish after a savory meal. Service was warm and friendly overall, though a small note - we had to ask a few times for serving spoons and dessert spoons. Minor annoyance, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall, we had a really relaxing brunch and a great time. I would definitely come back to try the dinner menu next!

Green grape chaas

Non-alcoholic drinks: expensive but worth it. Grilled banzino with 9 grain: the side 9grain porridge type with Brussels sprout is great. The grilled fish is okay, still have some bones in it. Grilled pineapple and kohralbi: least favorite dish of the night. The flavor combo just don't work. The char flavor is missing Green grape chaas: best dish of the night! Very refreshing. Highly recommend Shrikhand: very interesting texture. Taste is pleasant too. Highly recommend

Came here for an 8 pm reservation. Unfortunately, the hosting experience set a negative tone right from the start. The entry host was not welcoming at all. We were asked to wait outside and told we'd be seated in a couple of minutes. Even after waiting over 10 minutes, no one came to get us, so we went back inside ourselves. Only then were we taken to a table. The table we were given was uncomfortable--one of us was facing the restroom area and the service station. We asked if we could be moved. The host said she would check and came back saying all tables were reserved and that switching would require a 45-minute wait. While I understand reservations, there were 3-4 open tables at the time, and the specific table we requested was not reserved. We didn't want to wait longer, so we stayed. The host mentioned she would move us if something opened up. The restaurant has multiple layers of staff--entry host, table host taking orders, and servers delivering food. Service at the table was fine. We ordered drinks, Bellwether (ricotta) kebabs, taro root chaat, chicken seekh kebab with rumali roti, and chicken yakhni pulao. We were told the food would be paced and served family-style. Ricotta kebab: Don't be misled by the photos--these are tiny fried ricotta pieces. Flavor was decent but nothing memorable. The chutney was better than the kebabs themselves. Taro root chaat: Complete disappointment. The dominant flavor was an old-smelling sev. Chaat should be bold and layered, but this fell flat. We've had much better chaat elsewhere (Ettan's betel leaf chaat, for example). The taro root concept itself didn't work here. Chicken seekh kebab: This was good--nicely charred and well flavored. Rumali roti was also good. However, it felt overpriced for what was served. Chicken yakhni pulao: Decent, with well-cooked chicken, but overall very mild and lacking depth. Again, not worth the price. Coming back to the seating issue--after the appetizers, the host returned and said a corner table would be available soon and that we could move. The table did become free, but no one followed up. Our entire meal was served, and we were almost done eating when she finally came back with a casual apology. Between the poor hosting experience, average food, and extremely high prices, we won't be returning. The only bright spot was the actual serving staff and floor host; the entry hosts (both the female host and the Asian male host) seriously need improvement.

Eylan was fantastic for dinner! We visited on a Wednesday night, having made a reservation in advance. The interior was beautiful - dim lighting, funky lighting fixtures, trees and plants everywhere, etc. Much like Ettan, this place was decorated impeccably. For drinks, I chose the Not A Trace mocktail. The flavors were tasty, but this one was a little too sweet for me. For food, we ordered a bunch of items to share between the 3 of us - the Eylan Eye, Cured Hamachi, Anar Chicken Sigri Kebab, and Roasted Cornish Hen. All of these were phenomenal! The Hamachi was so soft and fresh and the different flavors in the Eylan Eye went together perfectly. Both the Anar Chicken and Cornish Hen were well-prepared, and I especially loved the tomatillo butter chicken sauce. The entire meal was an elevated take on familiar Indian flavors. We also ordered a dessert that I don't see on the menu now, but it was refreshing and fruity. Service was very professional and seamless. My partner and dad said the portion sizes were too small, but they were perfect for me. Would return in the future!

Really sexy vibe here. Great energy and lively ambiance. We came for a NYE prix fixe course. All the courses were delicious and the cocktails were great. Of all the dishes we had, only one missed the mark and that was the dessert of the gulab jamun...which I'm not typically a fan of anyways. We left stuffed and happy. This is not your typical Indian food that's heavy, salty, and dense. All the food was light, well-balanced, and yet still very flavorful. Service is really friendly but felt like there could have been better communication as during our meal we had our next course arrive before the previous course was cleared on more than one occasion. We just chalked it up to a really busy and packed night and possibly new staff working during the holiday. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Chicken with tomatillo makhani sauce

A lot of stellar food in a well decorated interior, but subpar service. Standout dishes were the taro root chaat, cabbage, fried chicken, and frozen shrikand. The fried chicken was phenomenal, perfectly cooked and served with an incredibly flavorful sauce. Taro root chaat had a great texture and balance. In the frozen shrikand was served almost like a block of ice cream that had incredible complementary flavors from the toffee and passion fruit. There were several service blips that felt disappointing given the reputation and Michelin star, from dishes served without utensils, to missing water, slow drinks, forgotten dishes, and more. I don't care too much about it personally but it was surprising nonetheless The interior is tastefully decorated with some great art.

Fantastic service, beautiful and delicious food - the presentation is so classy. The flavors are bold but approachable and the spice is just right. Gorgeous, stylish interior. We came for brunch but I'd be so happy to explore dinner. Impressive wine list and tasty cocktails.

Having dined at Eylan, one thing's for sure; you can celebrate any occasion here as long as you're ready for a whirlwind, busy and a bustling atmosphere that's loud yet comfortable and very classy! I loved the furniture. I loved how comfortable the chairs were. Yes, I notice these things because if I have to spend 2 hours dining and enjoying myself, I might want to get the most comfortable seating. Not many restaurants work on this aspect so full marks to Eylan on that! They recieved a Michelin recognition for their drinks and those looked cute. The gimlet and the paloma were great drinks! The third drink was too strong for us so we sent it back and the staff obliged and exchanged it for us. We started off with the very refreshing and beautifully made Grape chaas pani puri. We enjoyed it! I could taste green grapes, buttermilk and very subtle spices. Excellent! The Eylan crispy chicken was exceptionally tiny with 3 pieces but was extremely delicious and thankfully we had ordered two of them. The chutney that came with the chicken was Outstanding! The kohlrabi and pineapple skewer was spicy, tangy and a very good dish! It was very small portion also. The chicken seekh kebab, charred chicken tikka were both nice as well. The chutney and salad that came with it was also nice. For mains we ordered the cornish hen and the texture was exactly that of chicken thigh. The flavors were amazing! I loved the dish with green tomatoes atop. The eylan yakhni pulao was amazing. It was subtly spiced and had bone in chicken in it. Very very good! Tasted like a good samba biryani sans the heat. Rumali roti went great with the cornish hen curry. I was expecting it be softer so the texture was just alright. For desserts, we had the most amazing shaved mango lassi and it was phenomenal. Such a great dish, beautifully crafted and reminded me of flavors of my childhood. Well done! The frozen shrikhand was a good desert but I liked the caramel and pasionfruit sauce better than the dessert itself. The ambience was chick, the wall art was classy and service was very good. We'll be back for many more classy evenings!

Delicious, Creative Indian Spot in the Bay Area!! So, we finally hit up Eylan, which is part of the celebrated family of Bay Area restaurants we love. We were pretty excited for our weekday evening visit! Just a quick heads-up: finding the entrance can be a little tricky if you're following Google Maps, so keep your eyes peeled. Before you even walk in, the entry area is cool. It's quiet and decorated with beautiful Indian pieces like wall art, and this cool cycle rickshaw and fabric-covered bicycle. Once you open the main door, though, it can get a bit loud. Like most upscale spots, it's dark inside, but the decor is totally on point! We really liked the style. My one small gripe? They're using fake tea light candles! I mean, why skimp on that detail? Digging into the Food, I loved checking out the menu. It sounded so interesting! They do these really creative twists and combos while staying true to traditional flavors, which I thought was awesome. Just note that the food does tend to be on the spicier side. What we tried: Taro Root Chaat: This was a perfect starter...a total flavor explosion! Flaxseed Poee with Avocado & Amul Cheese Dip: The Poee itself had a beautiful texture. The dip was tasty, but I think it really needed something crunchy to break up the texture. Hispi Cabbage with Roomali Roti: The Roti was seriously soft! The wood-fired cabbage was such an unexpected and interesting mix of flavors; I have never thought of using cabbage like that. It was a good surprise, though the spices were quite bold. It had Burrata, but honestly, it needed a little more to give it that great, creamy bite. Frozen Shrikhand: This was our final course, and we loved it, especially with the passion fruit sauce. We love Shrikhand generally, so the frozen texture was a great treat. The only bummer was the hazelnut shavings garnish, it tasted a bit off, maybe slightly rancid. The service was definitely fast, but it felt really impersonal, indifferent. It wasn't friendly at all, which was definitely a disappointment. Overall though, it was a solid experience, but it could have been better. We are still absolutely planning to go back, especially to try out their special tasting menus!

I've gone twice and was so impressed both times! The ambiance is lovely although the main dining room is very loud. This time I wore a thick coat and sat in the "heated" outdoor dining area - I wish I'd dressed warmer! I recommend asking the waitstaff for recommendations, but this time we really enjoyed the taro root chaat (4.5/5 stars), flaxseed poee (5/5 stars), Eylan crispy chicken (5/5 stars from the meat eaters), crab mutabar (??/5 stars, I forgot to ask, sorry!!), roasted Cornish hen (5/5 stars - amazing, I loved the creamy tomatillo!).

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse. So even though the food wasn't great, and the music was horrible, I will return funnily enough because the decor and the people were worth it.
