It's definitely a fine-dining experience on the pricier side, but the service makes it feel worth it. The servers were incredibly welcoming and took the time to explain the nuances of each dish, which really added to the meal. The food itself is where things get really interesting. Their take on vegetarian Indian cuisine is a major departure from what you'll find at almost any other spot; it's the kind of creative approach that people will either absolutely love or find a bit polarizing, but it's undeniably unique. The Bellwether Farm ricotta dish was a standout--essentially a "dahi ke kebab" reimagined with ricotta--and the taro root chaat was lovely. While the flaxseed poe itself was just okay, the eggplant choka served with it was "too good," and the squash blossom was absolutely amazing. To round out the meal, the rumali roti and kulcha were both solid, though the hispi cabbage was just okay for me. Even with a few hits and misses on the specific textures, the flavors were consistently tasty and thought-provoking. There are plenty of vegetarian & vegan options, as well as non alcoholic drinks. The stuffed squash blossom is unique & really good. The ambiance & decorations are creative. Eylan is a sister restaurant of Copra, which is one of my favorite restaurants in the bay. Upon walking in, I could see the resemblance with the restaurant's abundant greenery. The space is full of verdant plants and vibrant paintings, imbuing the space with a vivacious energy. The food was more of a mixed bag, with all of the snacks and small plates being exceptional, but the large plates mostly missed the mark. Although, this may be due to just our selection being lacking. Fortunately, the cocktails delivered! The service went far and beyond what I expect. The servers were attentive and ever-ready for any requests. My party felt well taken care of. Taro Root Chaat: A novel approach to chaat. I found the taro to be a great add, and made the chaat more savory and earthy than most. A really enjoyable snack. Eylan Crispy Chicken: A cousin of Copra's chicken dish, and equally as impressive. However, it is less crispy and more saucy than its counterpart. Bursting with flavor and juicy, tender meat. Perfectly fried. Another homerun from the snacks section. Anar Chicken Sigri Kebab: Excellent execution. The flavors of wood char are apparent and appreciated. Woodfire Chicken Seekh Kebab: Herbaceous, tender, and delectable! Gulf Shrimp: Plump shrimp with an indulgent bite. Roasted Cornish Hen: The first of the large plates, and the beginning of my disappointments. This was technically sound, but the "butter chicken sauce" was far too subtle and lacked character. Hispi Cabbage: My favorite of the large plates that we ordered. The cabbage was well cooked and caramelized so that its natural sweetness was apparent. The tikka masala sauce harmonized well with the star veggie. The burrata didn't add much, but i appreciate the attempt at remixing an Indian staple. Eylan Chicken "Yakhni Pulao": I have no complaints, but also no compliments. We celebrated our anniversary at Eylan and honestly had such a great experience. We did the vegetarian seasonal tasting menu -- five courses, and it was very filling (we definitely didn't leave hungry). The first course itself had five smaller bites, which I loved because you get to try so many things right away. They even had a vegetarian take on caviar that was surprisingly really good -- creative and fun without feeling gimmicky. Everything tasted great and felt thoughtfully put together. The flavors were on point throughout. If I had to nitpick, the dessert was a bit too sweet for me personally, but still beautifully done. Having been to Chef Srijith Gopinathan and Ayesha Thapar's other restaurant Ettan, I had some idea what to expect at their latest Menlo Park venture, Eylan. Upscale California-Indian fusion cuisine with dazzling decor and furniture. They also recently won the "2025 Michelin Guide California Exceptional Cocktails Award". So I was eagerly waiting to dine and drink at Eylan with my co-worker after a particularly rough couple of weeks at work. The waiting area features a wooden tuktuk and a surreal wall-sized collage with dozens of scenes densely distributed throughout the landscape. Once they opened, me and my co-worker passed through an enormous wooden door with an ornate door handle. We were seated next to the window of a bright and colorful dining room, with dozens of lanterns mounted to the ceiling and ornate tiles. For appetizers, we ordered the Chilled Green Grape Chaas and Bellwether Farm Ricotta. The lime and mint chaas was served in a pitcher to be poured into pani puri. It was refreshing and crispy, although I urge caution in pouring the chaas. I poured too much chaas and tried to take a partial bite...big mistake! Chaas ran down my fingers and created a puddle on my plate. Don't do what I did, pour a little and eat the whole thing in one bite. The ricotta was breaded and fried. It was delicious with both the mint and mango chutney. I ordered "A Cut Above," for my cocktail. It has shades of an Old Fashioned but is made with reposado tequila, corn liqueur, dry vermouth, umeshu & cacao bitters. It was spirit forward with an interesting Japanese touch from the umeshu and garnishings. Engraved into the ice cube was a hand doing an "OK" gesture. I had hoped to try 2 or 3 drinks but not having ate prior all day and driving dissuaded me from doing that. For the entrees, we ordered the Roasted Cornish Hen and the Fava Bean Composition. Both dishes were bright green due to the tomatillo used in the butter chicken sauce and spinach and mint used in fava beans. The hen was juicy and tender. The tomatillo gave it a bit of Mexican flavor melded into a superb butter chicken sauce. It was served with a kulcha stuffed with dried fruit and paneer. The fava bean patties with beans and mint leaves on top crumbled apart and were difficult to raise with a fork. They tasted decent but the star of the dish for me was the saag in the platter, which was some of the best saag I've tasted in quite some time. It was fantastic when scooped up with the kulcha. Couldn't resist ordering a couple more appetizers of the Eylan Crispy Chicken and Gulf Shrimp. The chicken was perfectly breaded and fried, delectably moist chicken inside. It paired perfectly with the chili crisp aioli. The shrimp was heavy on turmeric which accented the salty crustacean flavor, which I'm not crazy about. Finally, to conclude the meal, we ordered the Shaved Mango Lassi. The icy flakes from the mango sorbet topped pockets of lime yogurt. It was a refreshing and tasty dessert adaptation of a classic Mango Lassi. A Taiwanese-style shaved fine snow texture would've been nice touch rather than chunky ice bits. The service was very attentive between the different waiters and servers. Collectively, they made us feel welcome and well taken care of. I'm usually wary of fusion restaurants, but Eylan is a great concept with creative and well-executed dishes that I look forward to returning to soon. read more

Ettan and Copra's newest sister in Menlo Park/Palo Alto area! Here you will find Indian food that is inspired by wood fire cooking. And you can really taste it throughout most of the menu. They definitely did a good job with the decor and the ambiance, and the waiters are super talented as always and explain the menus really well. 4.5/5 Taro Root Chaat is solid, with standard flavors you get from Chaat and the only one that you get the least wood fire flavor. But it works and is worth the order. 5/5 Celeriac and pineapple kebab was the star of the meal and was cut so nicely. This is something where the wood fire shines and is very unique, nothing like I have tried before. 4.5/5 Squash Blossom is unique and tastes great with roomali roti or any of their other breads 3.5/5 Shaved rose lassi tasted great on first bite due to tezture but fell flat as soon as it lost it's structure. It's really more for show than taste imo. 4/5 Masala Chai Crumble was unique and nice, but it's what you expect I think I like these group of restaurants the most for high end Indian food, but my favorite out of the three still has to be Copra. Eylan is an upgraded version of Ettan in Palo Alto. Sister stores but you can just tell the ambiance is a lot fancier. The menu changed with the season and we had a great time sampling the huge menu. Worth items were the eylan paratha with egg, the Wagyu ribeye, and the taro root chaat. We had a ton of food all entrees came with sides (which we weren't aware of) so careful on how much food you order. Quantity was very decent! read more

The seating felt cramped, and the chairs weren't the most comfortable, especially for taller folks. Also, we felt a bit rushed during the ordering process. The staff pushed us to place our order for starters, snacks, and main course all at once and suggested to take our time but entire order must be placed at the start of the order as the kitchen would like to know ahead of time. Even though some of the dishes are clearly family-style and better enjoyed in phases. It would've been nicer to pace the meal and order as we went. This place is a great addition to the Bay Area modern Indian dining scene. We have been here a total of three times including twice in their opening month. The taro root chaat is the highlight of their appetizers, seemingly drawing inspiration from its sister restaurant Ettan's sesame leaf. Their king trumpet mushrooms are cooked beautifully and packed with flavor. The hispi cabbage is an excellent signature dish, making you realize that even simple vegetables can be elevated with the proper technique. The desserts are where creativity shines, with rotating options of shaved ice dishes based on either lassis or kheer. The one point of improvement is their bread selection, which is a bit overpriced and underwhelming flavor-wise. They have a selection of local beer which is a nice touch. We ordered the Dungeness crab mutabar, which had good flavor and was a nice pairing with the bread. The king trumpet mushroom and lamb seekh kebab were our two favorite dishes--both packed with flavor, and the lamb wasn't gamey at all. The sea bream wasn't our favorite due to its texture, and the Cornish hen was just okay--probably dishes we would swap out for other options next time. Desserts were hit and miss: the Indian milk ice cream was grainy and definitely an acquired taste, but the shaved rose lassi (with strawberry flavor) was good and refreshing. Unfortunately this missed the mark due to ambiance sloppiness and a couple of dishes underwhelming us. Attentive service and delicious mixed drinks exceeded expectations: Physical issues -when we were seated, our table was dirty!!!!! (Picture attached for reference) -we were seated near the back door. There was an incredible cold draft, made worse by an ongoing loud motor noise -bathroom was a mess. Paper towels all over the floor because trash had not been emptied...until two hours after I arrived. Docked two stars here. Everyone was cold and wearing their jacket! On to the food. -Cornish hen was amazing and an incredible. -Unfortunately the crab bread was overwhelmed by the spices, given the lack of crab flavor, I might as well have been eating imitation crab meat. -The shrimp was delicate, even and flavorful. Unfortunately the light vegetable mix was the opposite. Docked one star off uneven food quality. Ettan was more consistently higher quality across all dishes. . Would I go back? Maybe. The pescetarian menu felt surprisingly limited. Apart from the crab rice and trout, there wasn't much else -- no prawns, scallops, or the variety you'd expect from Indian cuisine, which has such a rich range of seafood options. It felt a bit one-note. The vegetarian dishes were decent, and the service was very good, which was probably the highlight of the evening. However, the ambience was just okay. We sat on the back patio (our choice), but the Caltrain passing every 10 minutes was so loud that it really disrupted the meal. Overall, I'd say it's a solid 3/5. Pleasant staff and good intentions, but the menu diversity and setting didn't justify the cost. read more

Of all the dishes we had, only one missed the mark and that was the dessert of the gulab jamun...which I'm not typically a fan of anyways. We left stuffed and happy. This is not your typical Indian food that's heavy, salty, and dense. All the food was light, well-balanced, and yet still very flavorful. Service is really friendly but felt like there could have been better communication as during our meal we had our next course arrive before the previous course was cleared on more than one occasion. Eylan is a Michelin Guide listed restaurant in Menlo Park, and after going three times, I'd say it's a strong spot if you like modern Indian with a chef-driven twist. The best strategy: load up on snacks and apps. Standouts The fried chicken with spicy aioli is the one dish that made me come back multiple times. It's genuinely different and the best thing I've had here. Sesame leaf chaat was also a favorite. The chaas puchkas were tasty, just not traditional puchkas, so set expectations right. Taro root chaat was solid, and I liked that the server checked if we wanted 4 pieces since it comes with 2. Skips The crab mutbar didn't stand out and the flaked poee was also average. The spinach avocado dip is interesting, but overall not worth repeating. Butter chicken was also not the pick here. Mains I'd only do mains if you still have room. Hispi cabbage was average. Roasted Cornish hen and chicken yakhani were tasty if you want chicken. Charred black cod was the most disappointing: average flavor and small portion. Dessert Indian milk cake ice cream was great. The Celebration Treat had a dark profile with a cinnamon note I didn't personally love. If you're ordering both, I'd eat the Celebration Treat first, then finish with the milk cake ice cream. Service is friendly and they explain how to eat each dish, but it can get slow during rush. Ambience is nicely done with dim lighting, but it gets loud and tables are packed tight. read more

The restaurant has a parking garage underneath it so be aware of that. It also has a elevator connecting the parking lot up to it so use that if you are parked there. Expect a somewhat dim lit dining room with loud ambience and background music playing. We ordered a family style price fixed (prix fixe) menu. Service was friendly and quick, though not quite what you'd get a 2 or 3 star restaurant. This was not cheap and ran around $500 for four people. There's enough food for everyone but the cost is on the high side. This is one of the higher end indian restaurants in the bay area however. If you have money and aren't sure about ordering specific items, its a great experience for sure. The first 3 courses came with 2 items, the 4th course had 3 items, and there were two desserts. So about 11 items total. Course 1 - Chilled Green Grape Chaas + Flaxseed Poee The chaas was poured into basically a pani puri but with a lot less liquid and better filling. If you don't like pani puri, you might actually enjoy this as it had more substance, while still using that crispy pastry shell for texture with the green grape chaas. 6 pieces. The Flaxseed Poe is basically a bread item with avacado saag, amul cheese, and garlic ghee. It was very delicious and makes for an excellent app by itself. You could order a bunch of these and just be content eating that with the chili garlic. This had to be cut to share. Course 2 - Taro Root Chaat + Eylan Crispy Chicken The Taro Root Chaat had winter vegetables, dates, kebab, and a crispy texture on the outside. It was more like the fried ball dough snack and not like the pancake style. It was not bad, but didn't really stand out. 4 pieces. The Eylan Crispy Chicken was very juicy and tasty, served with chili crisp and well seasoned. 8 pieces. Course 3 - Gulf Shrimp + King Trumpet Mushrooms The King Trumpet mushrooms were nice as a mushroom enjoyer. They seemed to be char grilled with a spice rub and served with a yogurt cilantro sauce. There were 10 pieces here. The Gulf Shrimp was also grilled, with lemongrass, tumeric, ajwain, and yogurt. It was also perfectly cooked but only came with 4 pieces so each person had to share. Course 4 - Hispi Cabbage + Charred Black Cod + Elyan Chicken Yakhni Pulao Hispi Cabbage was two large pieces of cabbage grilled, and set in a tikka masala and burrata cheese with green chutney sauce. It tasted good, but probably something I wouldn't order by itself. Compare this to Kann's Jerk Cabbage, a grilled red cabbage smothered with jerk sauce etc, is much better. Elyan Chicken was flavored salan style, a type of chicken curry. It was buried under rice and was ok. I thought the crispy chicken was better overall. The Charred black cod was seasoned well and cooked well. Depending on how many black cod types of dishes you have, this one might either be great or around average. However it did taste good. Dessert The frozen shrikhand was ok if you like a little chewy caramel and toffee flavors mixed with frozen strained yogurt. I'd prefer ice cream as its a bit fluffier. The passionfruit flavors did not come through. The berry makhana kheer was ok as well; it was the first time I've tried this. The strawberry ice was the best part about it as I was unfamiliar with the makhana nuts. Overall it was a great experience though pricey. At that price point we're comparing it with 1-2 star Michelin restaurants. For Indian food, I think its a excellent higher quality restaurant that isn't easy to find yet in the Bay Area. Most older Indian restaurants are 20-30 years old and somewhat out of date or buffet style, and newer ones cater to western flavors more (like typical Chinese restaurants), so its hard to find something more traditional. If you're a fan of Indian food, be sure to give this place a try. read more

My girlfriends decided to dine here to celebrate a birthday. We'd all been to Ettan previously and enjoyed it so we wanted to check out their sister restaurant, Eylan. The décor is very modern and beautiful. The restaurant offers free parking underneath, which is a nice perk. We started off with a round of cocktails that were colorfully presented and refreshing, but a bit pricey at $19 each. We tried a variety of dishes - chilled green grape chaas, taro root chaat, Dungeness crab mutabar, flaxseed poee, king trumpet mushrooms, gulf shrimp, roasted Cornish hen and charred black cod. Everything was artistically plated and delicious! I'm no expert in Indian cuisine, but I would say the food was on par with Ettan. My only issue was our server kept trying to upsell the menu to us. He suggested that we add two small plates, so we added the shrimp per his recommendations, but declined to add more. Also, my friend had to leave early so she skipped dessert. There were 3 of us left in the party so we ordered 1 dessert to share. He asked, "Only one?" We just shared 2 breads, 2 starters, 3 small plates and 2 mains for 4 people, plus 2 rounds of beverages. We finished everything, but politely responded, "Yes, just one!" Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience albeit on the expensive side. read more

Probably one of the best meals I've had in the bay area, and the two friends I was with also agreed actually. Definitely make a reservation , it was pretty busy on a Thursday night. If you just Google it at all the interior decor vibes are immaculate very trendy. Music was great. Service was great. I could you not every single dish was incredible and also very unique. There was three of us and we shared two starter (chilled grape and crispy chicken), small wood fired plate (pineapple), and two large mains. We love Copra in SF so we were really excited to try Eylan (with the understanding that Eylan is more North Indian focused and less Kerala/Tamil Nadu style food). We got the lamb seekh kebab, chicken anar sigri kebab, crab mutabar and the cod fish big plate. The chicken was juicy and well cooked and the crab mutabar was an excellent addition that you don't usually see in Indian restaurants. The seekh kebab was a bit off from what we were used to so we didn't finish it. The fish was the most disappointing part of the dinner unfortunately- it tasted stale and the sauce didn't go with it - however, the coconut rice that came with it had an excellent tadka and was delicious. We wanted to try the nearby Maruwu Seicha for dessert so we skipped the masala chai sundae - but since this is our fave Chef Srijith's restaurant we'll be back to give it another shot despite the disappointing experience with the entree. read more

Came to check out this new restaurant for my husband's birthday dinner. Being the sister restaurant of well known Ettan & Copra, we were indeed very excited for our meal here. Of course, we were also excited to check out what they have brought in terms of decor to this new establishment, as the decor at their other 2 restaurants is quite exceptional. This one didn't disappoint us. My only complaint though was the lighting was way too low. We got the bellweather farm ricotta, celeriac & pineapple kebab, chicken yakhni pulao and the Indian milk cake ice cream. The ricotta dish was decent. Pineapple kebab was outstanding with the tandoor char and the sauce it came in. The chicken in the yakhni pulao was cooked very soft and tender. But, I don't know if $32 justifies that quantity. They gave the condiments for only half of a small vessel. When we ran out of raita, we asked for some more and they said there will be an extra charge for it, which I felt isn't the right thing for them to do. The milk cake ice cream was wonderful, definitely try it. Our server Daisy gave exceptional service. They also gave a small mango sorbet with a candle knowing that it's my husband's birthday. A newcomer to the Michelin Guide this year, Eylan has struck gold with its innovative blend of regional Indian cuisine and fresh, local influences. This Menlo Park sensation brings a bold approach to presenting Indian food, culture, and a family-style dining experience to the world. The menu is thoughtfully structured -- Snacks, Breads, Wood Fired Small, and Wood Fired Large -- offering a balanced, explorative progression of flavors throughout the meal. We started with a trio of Snacks -- Bellwether Farm Ricotta, Cured Hamachi with fried sesame leaf pakoda, and the signature crispy chicken with tomato chutney -- all beautifully executed and a great start to the evening. The hype around the Crab Mutabar (a flaky paratha stuffed with crab and served with a rich sauce of fennel, poppy seeds, and mint) is absolutely justified. The Eylan Eye -- egg with black truffle, coconut vinaigrette, and chives -- was another standout, showcasing impressive finesse. For the mains, Eylan's mastery over open-fire cooking shines. The Woodfire Chicken Seekh and Anar Chicken Sigri are benchmarks for how these dishes should be prepared -- perfectly charred on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender inside. The Roasted Cornish Hen offers a fresh take on chicken makhani with tomatillo, packing a punch especially when paired with paneer kulcha or ghee rice. And yes, the Lamb Chop -- with a Kashmiri chili rub and lamb sauce -- is a home run. Despite being a newcomer, Eylan deserves every bit of praise and acclaim it's receiving. The refined culinary approach, chic décor, and smooth hospitality create a captivating dining experience from start to finish. Special shoutout to the cocktail program, which has also earned Michelin distinction. Highly recommend the Techies, Guns & Money -- a rum-based old fashioned with pandan and warming spices. I had the pleasure of eating the tasting menu on Easter Sunday. It was accompanied by many different flavors, dishes, and wood-fired meats. Everything was honestly so delicious. The Eylan crispy chicken, wood fired gulf shrimp, and grilled lamb were the highlights for me. I've also never had such good sauces that complemented the courses. My compliments to the chef. Finally, the service matched the incredible dishes. Our server was graceful, attentive, and created the perfect atmosphere. I visited this restaurant for dinner and it was pretty packed. The ambience is nice. We tried the lotus root chaat, anar chicken kebab, Cornish hen and lamb kebab. I liked the chaat. The Cornish hen curry tasted buttery smooth and the kebab had a nice smoky flavor. We also tried the frozen shrikand for dessert, which I didn't like much. Rest of the items were good read more

I went here this past weekend with my family and it was INCREDIBLE. I'm 27 weeks pregnant so I was excited to enjoy a nice meal and it DELIVERED! The restaurant itself is incredibly beautiful and well designed, you don't feel cramped and there is just so much to look at. The art, plants, fixtures, all just beautiful. The staff was attentive and so knowledgeable about the menu. When I tell you we wiped our plates totally clean with every dish! Some we even ordered seconds! My favorites were the hamachi, Cornish hen and the crispy chicken but you truly can't go wrong with anything you order here. I even got a mocktail and it was so refreshing. I hope to go back some day when I am not so pregnant and can have space for even more. And oh, don't skip on the breads! read more

Beautiful interior and nice selection of elevated Indian dishes. I've now been lucky enough to try all 3 restaurants- Chopra, Ettan and Eylan. All different but similar inviting spaces with unique decor. This one felt the most modern. As for the food, we started with their manhattan cocktail, good and cute ice cube but I might go with a regular manhattan the next time, this one was a bit sweet. The taro root chat was delicious and similar to the fried lettuce at Ettan. It comes in a set of 3 and they quickly upselled us to make it an even number of 4 (2 of us) next we tried the Eylan eye with truffle shavings at the recommendation of our server, ok but probably wouldn't order again. Chicken sakaat skewers were tasty and the eylan yakhni pulao were both good, although my partner didn't lie all the dark meat and the bones. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful, very tastefully decorated and such a lovely space to dine in. The atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit. All of the staff were incredibly nice and attentive as well. I would say the customer service here is definitely above the bar, which made the overall experience even better. As for the food, I was a bit 50/50 on the dishes we ordered. The chicken appetizer and the sauce that came with it were actually pretty good, but I think I'd need to come back and try a few different menu items to get a better feel for the menu. At the end of the meal, they gave us complimentary cookies, and wow, those were absolutely to die for! They were so good that I even asked the waiter if they sold them in bulk because I would have happily bought a few packs to take home. read more

It's a nice contemporary, fusion Indian restaurant. Service was good, hostess explained to us everything that was served. We liked everything we ordered, menu is luckily different from any other Indian restaurant .we liked the combination of various traditional Indian dishes with a contemporary twist. Parathas with asparagus were unique, main course was slightly predictable taste but everything else was unique. Spice level was moderate and almost everything tasted delicious. Definitely must try restaurant for special occasions as it's pricey! Noise level is high as there are many tables close by . read more
