Pumpkin smash with bourbon and a rye Manhattan: both 5 stars
    Jess B.

Flea Street has been doing farm-to-table since the 1980s, and somehow we had never been there until last Friday night. Glad to discover it! This place is a cute little neighborhood spot that you might accidentally drive by. They have cute mismatched china plates and a comfortable atmosphere. The food was all 5 stars. We had: Small starter: smoked trout Seasonal salad (we didn't notice it came with meat on it. That was the only bummer--we're pescatarians, so discarded that.) Entrees: Greek islands black cod with wheat berries and veggies; definitely 5 stars Loved the cocktails too. Well-balanced and we appreciated that they weren't overly sweet at all: Pumpkin smash with bourbon Rye manhattan Pumpkin espresso martini I appreciated that the service staff let us know about the automatic 20% gratuity service charge they add to the bill. That worked for us. We will be back!

Flea Street offers the ambiance of a neighborhood restaurant with the quality of Michelin fine-dining. Each dish presents unique flavors and artistic presentation, creating a harmonious experience that's like a symphony in the mouth. From the attentive staff to their meticulous attention to detail, I believe they will earn a star very soon!

    Spicy watermelon margarita

I tried this place for the first time and it was okay. The parking is difficult especially if the lot in the back is full/almost full. The ambiance inside is really nice though and the service is great as well. The menu isn't too big and there's not many vegetarian options. We got complimentary buttermilk bread which came with butter and tomatoes which was nice. For the appetizer we got the toast which was the only vegetarian option. The spread on it wasn't very good and I didn't love the taste. For my entree I got the carbonara and asked for it with no meat. It was very expensive for the portion size. The flavor was okay and noodles weren't cooked that well. The drink I got was really good- the spicy watermelon margarita. For dessert we got the dark chocolate cake/pie and cherry ice cream. The taste was off for both items so I probably wouldn't get again. All the food and drink was plated nicely but overall not worth the price.

    Dungeness Crab Gnocchi

Recently, I went to Flea Street. I got the Dungeness Crab Gnocchi, Fresh Pasta Carbonara, Which Came First: The Chicken or the Egg, Slow Braised Grass-Fed Short Rib, and Lavender Lemonade. The crab in the crab gnocchi had a delicate texture and the dish came with enough crab and sauce for each bite of gnocchi. The carbonara was delicious because the sauce was creamy and it was served with pork belly that they cured in-house. Next was the lavender lemonade. The lavender is a bit strong, but does not overpower the lemonade. By the way, they served biscuits while we waited for our mains and they were good, but the butter was amazing. It had a swirly appearance that looked so beautiful that you wouldn't want to break it. The short rib is good: the meat was tender and the potatoes were well cooked, crispy on the outside and pillow soft on the inside. The Which Came First was also good: the egg was cooked nicely and so was the chicken. The whole dish was well balanced.

This place is def on the top of our list of restaurants. Pricey, but the quality of food is great. We had a reservation at 5:45pm on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy when we arrived; however, that quickly changed as the night progressed. We appreciated the lady at the front on her attempt to get us an outdoor table, but after a "no" then "yes" then "no" again, we ended up w/ just keeping our table inside. The distance of each table was perfect, as that allows privacy for each table. Based on our experience, some places, esp for tables of two's are arranged so closely together that at some point, it just becomes awkward to hear other ppl's conversation and vice versa. FYI, we sat just right behind the main entrance door, next to the glass window and close to the kitchen (which wasn't loud at all). Our waiter was extremely friendly, polite, attentive, and knowledgeable. We had ordered a couple of appetizers and entrees and shared a dessert, all of which were perfectly seasoned (less if anything) and Michelin plated. For appetizers, we ordered: McFarland Smoked Trout (a bit basic) and Grass Fed Steak Tartar. For entrees, we ordered: House Made Ricotta Chive Gnocchi (delicious w/o it being overpowering. One of the best dishes I've had), and Pasture Raised Bone-In Pork Chop (similar to something at Selby's and this was by far way better, hands down). For dessert, we ordered: Just Peachy. I don't even know what to say about this. It tastes just as good as it looks. Get it if you can. We also had an opportunity to chat w/ the owner and that was a nice addition to our dinner. Honestly, it kinda reminds me of chef Ramsey a little bit. It shows a lot about their character and their love/passion for the food they create and the restaurant they share w/ people. I appreciated that. Their vegetables are fresh and home grown and you can definitely taste that. Their menu changes so if you've never been here, I recommend it.

Had a really nice birthday celebration for hubby here. The service was great - friendly and not stuffy. Some of the standouts were the beet stacks, the lamb chop, the pork, and the chips that came with the smoked trout! The cucumber cooler was also so good and refreshing. It had just the right amount of alcohol where I couldn't taste it but I could feel it!

TLDR extremely expensive for the food so don't go unless someone else is paying. I came here to meet a new friend and I believe based on location and the price the clienteles are mostly VCs. The restaurant is very unassuming in a tiny strip mall that's almost like a small office building that some boutique VC firms would choose. I didn't even find the restaurant name so I had to rely on address to make sure I'm at the right place. The interior is much more welcoming and service is good. Btw they already baked in the service charge/tip at 20% in the check so don't add more at the tip line at the check (I think that's super annoying they don't make it more clear on the check). The food is ridiculously expensive. I don't know why they name the restaurant flea street when they charge so much. A tomato soup is over $25 and a vegetarian option entree is over $40. It's not the price per se but what you get for the price. The other options are even more expensive at some over $70 (if it were like aged steak or something then the price might be justified but nope). Anyways I think the food is way overpriced and I didn't even care to take pictures of the entree and that's probably telling. Btw nope the vegetarian food is very under welcoming and I only ordered it because nothing else looked appetizing and the guy paying is vegetarian. So go there if someone else or company is paying or if you want to impress the wrong kind of partners. And do not pay any more tip because it's included unless you really want to.

It's been about 25+ years since I last visited Flea Street and happy to make a return visit. Food is delicious and always changing based on the season and highlighting local products. When you dine at Flea Street you taste the freshness of each ingredient and how well they complement each component. :: Brussel sprouts - crispy, with pomegranate, butternut squash and creaminess from the pecorino - probably one of the best I've had at a restaurant. :: Risotto - creamy rich, flavorful with parsnip and Parmesan ($39) - delicious and decadent...and a bit extravagant with no protein :: Miso Black Cod - perfectly cooked, flaky, with a light miso broth. :: Date Cake - when received it was a bit laughable as it was literally a small, ramekin-sized cake cut in half and presented on the plate. It was delicious and not overly sweet but for $18 was expecting a bit more. Food, service and ambiance wonderful but definitely an indulgence and priced for the affluent area of tech companies and for me...well, when I redeem my Costco Rewards Certificate! Price/person with the above and drinks, above, healthy living tax and added 20% (you can add more if you'd like) is about $120/person. Lot parking available and gets busy by 630pm

I had the pleasure of making a reservation for me and the gf on Valentine's Day, they had a fixed menu which takes out the endless looking at menu and helps, my undeceive gf (don't tell her I said that) we felt welcomed by staff and other customers the food was consistently delicious and elegant! It didn't disappoint can't forget the drinks I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner and I can see why this place is so special wonderful conversation and even got a history lesson which was more then welcomed on my part, I thank her enough it was a memorable experience and I can't wait to come back!

    Amazing non alcoholic drink menu.

Flea Street is such a warm and inviting restaurant with amazing food that I would describe as Farm to Table Californian. They have ample vegetarian options also. Bryan said they are updating their dessert menu. They change up their menu to include seasonal item as that are locally sourced. This is a great date place, especially when on a date with my friends and family. Big bonus points for a sophisticated and inclusive non alcoholic drink menu. As a non drinker I appreciate this so much. The service is impeccable and reminds me of Las Vegas in that one never needs to ask for a drink to be filled, or a plate to be cleared. I'll be back, perhaps one day with a romantic special someone.

Amazing service from Ciara and Sergio. The food was absolutely delicious. From the moment we walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and helpful. Our drinks came out quickly and were smooth. The biscuits and bread that is brought to the table with butter squiggles and fig jam were a wonderful way to start the night. The toast of the day was surprising delightful. Surprising because I don't believe we have ever had frozen shaved tomato but it worked so well with the oil oiled bread and burrata. We could have eaten 10 of these. I had the vegetarian tasting plate and my husband had the short ribs. Mine was so much food I couldn't even finish but vegetables never tasted so good. I tried some of the short rib and it was wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked, The pumpkin spice martini was delightful and the little raspberry muffins given with the check were the perfect finish to the night. Such a wonderful experience that we will definitely be back for again soon.

Cool patio, strange service to say the least. Every order from drinks to food was fumbled. I am not sure if I will go back.

My husband took me here for dinner on a date night since it is Michelin plated. The restaurant seems like it's in a old house. At least where we sat, it's a quieter restaurant since the dining table spread out in the different rooms of the house. Probably not a great spot for something like a first date where you might want more commotion around you. The crowd is more mature... I was in bit of a sticker shock by the wine by the glass menu, since everything was over 20, but the wine I got (picked the cheapest!), was really a beautiful red that I really enjoyed. Service was absolutely wonderful- definitely on par with other high end restaurants in the area. It was nice that the owner also stopped by to say hi. They start you off with complimentary biscuits and bread that come with ribboned sheets of butter. We had the grilled Jimmy Nardello. I would've thought it was named after someone at the restaurant, but it's a type of red pepper. I'm not a huge red pepper fan, but these were really cooked and flavored to perfection with pine nuts, feta and garlic and went really great on bread. Pacific coast catch was a nice lightly battered fish, presented on a tomato based sauce and whipped potato. We ended the meal with the Peach Cobbler, which was made to order. I'm not a huge fruit- based dessert fan, but the freshly based crust was amazing with the ice cream. Overall, excellent service, delicious food. They support local farmers and told us where some of our vegetables were from nearby, Excellent for a quiet date night. Since their menu uses seasonal ingredients, we'll be back for sure!

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.

Our bartender was great and even went off menu for some of our drinks. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Once we were seated we got some appetizers to get us started. We ordered chickpea panisse, French onion soup, goat cheese mousse, and the apple salad. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the chickpea panisse. It looked like fried tofu, but it was so delicately soft in the center. The aioli that came with it was great too. My second favorite was the goat cheese mousse. It was beautifully presented and a good balance of flavors. For main dishes, we got a variety of things. We got salmon, hanger steak, flat iron steak, and poulet roti. Everything was delicious. I think the flat iron steak was preferred over the hanger, but both were good. I thought the chicken was delicious. It seemed braised with a lot of flavor. It was a generous portion with a large salad. It was very well done. We also got a couple of sides of macaroni and cheese. Those didn't disappoint. They came in hot iron skillets and were hearty and delicious. For dessert we got the mousse au chocolat. The mousse with ice cream was a great combination. The dessert was well balanced. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was fun.

Definitely worth getting the umami fries as they were seasoned to perfection. A perfect starting side! Horsefeather is a perfect brunch spot to stop by and try in this Old Town and Country Palo Alto plaza. I have never heard of this chain nor in their other locations before and was definitely satisfied afterwards with their great dishes and their aesthetically modern decorated interior. The dishes here are American so you'd get what you typically get for breakfast from scrambles to French Toast, and we ordered the French Toast, the Chicken and Waffles, and a Salad during our visit here. All of what was ordered was perfect and beautifully plated upon arrival and out of all that was ordered, I have to say the chicken and waffles with their matcha butter & syrup was their standout dish. I have never seen matcha infused with butter but it was perfect and complimented the waffle just right. The chicken was fried and juicy inside and the waffle in general was toasted with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft interior. French Toast was a definite close contender too, where the toast was still gooey soft as expected and served with syrup & cream on the side. Salad was good but nothing too extraordinary about it. The staff here were all very nice and on a busy lunch day, I was surprised & pretty sure just lucky was able to get a table in less than 10 min on a Sunday. For weekend brunch, Horsefeather is a perfect spot to visit & enjoy the pre-afternoon before enjoying Palo Alto. There is eating both in- and outside, but I recommend in dining al fresco to people watch. The place is small, but it gets busier, as it does open later in the day (4 PM to midnight)! Staff and the bar staff were friendly. +wine and cheeses +friendly staff +dine al fresco

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse. So even though the food wasn't great, and the music was horrible, I will return funnily enough because the decor and the people were worth it.
