Flea Street offers the ambiance of a neighborhood restaurant with the quality of Michelin fine-dining. Each dish presents unique flavors and artistic presentation, creating a harmonious experience that's like a symphony in the mouth. From the attentive staff to their meticulous attention to detail, I believe they will earn a star very soon!

I tried this place for the first time and it was okay. The parking is difficult especially if the lot in the back is full/almost full. The ambiance inside is really nice though and the service is great as well. The menu isn't too big and there's not many vegetarian options. We got complimentary buttermilk bread which came with butter and tomatoes which was nice. For the appetizer we got the toast which was the only vegetarian option. The spread on it wasn't very good and I didn't love the taste. For my entree I got the carbonara and asked for it with no meat. It was very expensive for the portion size. The flavor was okay and noodles weren't cooked that well. The drink I got was really good- the spicy watermelon margarita. For dessert we got the dark chocolate cake/pie and cherry ice cream. The taste was off for both items so I probably wouldn't get again. All the food and drink was plated nicely but overall not worth the price.

Recently, I went to Flea Street. I got the Dungeness Crab Gnocchi, Fresh Pasta Carbonara, Which Came First: The Chicken or the Egg, Slow Braised Grass-Fed Short Rib, and Lavender Lemonade. The crab in the crab gnocchi had a delicate texture and the dish came with enough crab and sauce for each bite of gnocchi. The carbonara was delicious because the sauce was creamy and it was served with pork belly that they cured in-house. Next was the lavender lemonade. The lavender is a bit strong, but does not overpower the lemonade. By the way, they served biscuits while we waited for our mains and they were good, but the butter was amazing. It had a swirly appearance that looked so beautiful that you wouldn't want to break it. The short rib is good: the meat was tender and the potatoes were well cooked, crispy on the outside and pillow soft on the inside. The Which Came First was also good: the egg was cooked nicely and so was the chicken. The whole dish was well balanced.

This place is def on the top of our list of restaurants. Pricey, but the quality of food is great. We had a reservation at 5:45pm on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy when we arrived; however, that quickly changed as the night progressed. We appreciated the lady at the front on her attempt to get us an outdoor table, but after a "no" then "yes" then "no" again, we ended up w/ just keeping our table inside. The distance of each table was perfect, as that allows privacy for each table. Based on our experience, some places, esp for tables of two's are arranged so closely together that at some point, it just becomes awkward to hear other ppl's conversation and vice versa. FYI, we sat just right behind the main entrance door, next to the glass window and close to the kitchen (which wasn't loud at all). Our waiter was extremely friendly, polite, attentive, and knowledgeable. We had ordered a couple of appetizers and entrees and shared a dessert, all of which were perfectly seasoned (less if anything) and Michelin plated. For appetizers, we ordered: McFarland Smoked Trout (a bit basic) and Grass Fed Steak Tartar. For entrees, we ordered: House Made Ricotta Chive Gnocchi (delicious w/o it being overpowering. One of the best dishes I've had), and Pasture Raised Bone-In Pork Chop (similar to something at Selby's and this was by far way better, hands down). For dessert, we ordered: Just Peachy. I don't even know what to say about this. It tastes just as good as it looks. Get it if you can. We also had an opportunity to chat w/ the owner and that was a nice addition to our dinner. Honestly, it kinda reminds me of chef Ramsey a little bit. It shows a lot about their character and their love/passion for the food they create and the restaurant they share w/ people. I appreciated that. Their vegetables are fresh and home grown and you can definitely taste that. Their menu changes so if you've never been here, I recommend it.

Had a really nice birthday celebration for hubby here. The service was great - friendly and not stuffy. Some of the standouts were the beet stacks, the lamb chop, the pork, and the chips that came with the smoked trout! The cucumber cooler was also so good and refreshing. It had just the right amount of alcohol where I couldn't taste it but I could feel it!

TLDR extremely expensive for the food so don't go unless someone else is paying. I came here to meet a new friend and I believe based on location and the price the clienteles are mostly VCs. The restaurant is very unassuming in a tiny strip mall that's almost like a small office building that some boutique VC firms would choose. I didn't even find the restaurant name so I had to rely on address to make sure I'm at the right place. The interior is much more welcoming and service is good. Btw they already baked in the service charge/tip at 20% in the check so don't add more at the tip line at the check (I think that's super annoying they don't make it more clear on the check). The food is ridiculously expensive. I don't know why they name the restaurant flea street when they charge so much. A tomato soup is over $25 and a vegetarian option entree is over $40. It's not the price per se but what you get for the price. The other options are even more expensive at some over $70 (if it were like aged steak or something then the price might be justified but nope). Anyways I think the food is way overpriced and I didn't even care to take pictures of the entree and that's probably telling. Btw nope the vegetarian food is very under welcoming and I only ordered it because nothing else looked appetizing and the guy paying is vegetarian. So go there if someone else or company is paying or if you want to impress the wrong kind of partners. And do not pay any more tip because it's included unless you really want to.

I had the pleasure of making a reservation for me and the gf on Valentine's Day, they had a fixed menu which takes out the endless looking at menu and helps, my undeceive gf (don't tell her I said that) we felt welcomed by staff and other customers the food was consistently delicious and elegant! It didn't disappoint can't forget the drinks I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner and I can see why this place is so special wonderful conversation and even got a history lesson which was more then welcomed on my part, I thank her enough it was a memorable experience and I can't wait to come back!

It's been about 25+ years since I last visited Flea Street and happy to make a return visit. Food is delicious and always changing based on the season and highlighting local products. When you dine at Flea Street you taste the freshness of each ingredient and how well they complement each component. :: Brussel sprouts - crispy, with pomegranate, butternut squash and creaminess from the pecorino - probably one of the best I've had at a restaurant. :: Risotto - creamy rich, flavorful with parsnip and Parmesan ($39) - delicious and decadent...and a bit extravagant with no protein :: Miso Black Cod - perfectly cooked, flaky, with a light miso broth. :: Date Cake - when received it was a bit laughable as it was literally a small, ramekin-sized cake cut in half and presented on the plate. It was delicious and not overly sweet but for $18 was expecting a bit more. Food, service and ambiance wonderful but definitely an indulgence and priced for the affluent area of tech companies and for me...well, when I redeem my Costco Rewards Certificate! Price/person with the above and drinks, above, healthy living tax and added 20% (you can add more if you'd like) is about $120/person. Lot parking available and gets busy by 630pm

    Amazing non alcoholic drink menu.

Flea Street is such a warm and inviting restaurant with amazing food that I would describe as Farm to Table Californian. They have ample vegetarian options also. Bryan said they are updating their dessert menu. They change up their menu to include seasonal item as that are locally sourced. This is a great date place, especially when on a date with my friends and family. Big bonus points for a sophisticated and inclusive non alcoholic drink menu. As a non drinker I appreciate this so much. The service is impeccable and reminds me of Las Vegas in that one never needs to ask for a drink to be filled, or a plate to be cleared. I'll be back, perhaps one day with a romantic special someone.

Amazing service from Ciara and Sergio. The food was absolutely delicious. From the moment we walked in, the hostess was incredibly kind and helpful. Our drinks came out quickly and were smooth. The biscuits and bread that is brought to the table with butter squiggles and fig jam were a wonderful way to start the night. The toast of the day was surprising delightful. Surprising because I don't believe we have ever had frozen shaved tomato but it worked so well with the oil oiled bread and burrata. We could have eaten 10 of these. I had the vegetarian tasting plate and my husband had the short ribs. Mine was so much food I couldn't even finish but vegetables never tasted so good. I tried some of the short rib and it was wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked, The pumpkin spice martini was delightful and the little raspberry muffins given with the check were the perfect finish to the night. Such a wonderful experience that we will definitely be back for again soon.

An upscale restaurant located near Stanford University. When you walk in, it feels like you're inside a family home with cool artwork on the walls. Very romantic and intimate ambiance! We started the night with delicious bread and biscuits served with potatoes and butter. The biscuits were soft and tasty, but the bread was ordinary. The braised short ribs were well-seasoned! Soft and flavorful! It was served with ricotta chive dumpling. I think it could be paired with more sides. We ended the night with soft pumpkin pastries! Staff was knowledgeable of the menu. It is a wonderful restaurant if you're looking for a cozy and intimate dinner, but food is overpriced.

I've known about the Flea Street Cafe in Menlo Park for 40 years or so, but last night was the first time I went there. We invited a couple of friends to join us to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant has a really nice ambiance inside. We were seated at a 4-person table overlooking the front of the restaurant. We started by ordering drinks. We had read that Joan Baez is a frequent diner and likes Lavender Lemon Drop, so two of us had that, and my friend and I had the aged Manhattan. Both drinks were great. I especially liked the attention to detail in how the Lemon Drops were served with a refill amount in a small bottle of chilled ice. We started with a garden salad and Brussels Sprouts; two had salmon, my wife had the vegetarian-tasting plate, and one person had the braised short ribs. Overall, all of the food was fantastic. We appreciate the excellent service we had from our waiter. Overall, it was a delightful evening. The place was expensive, and I knew they put a 20% service charge on every bill. I'm okay with that, though, and I look forward to returning for the next special occasion.

Using that language sets up an expectation that neither the ambiance nor the vibe is able to live up to. I can only assume that those reviews that commend this place as a speakeasy have never actually been to a real speakeasy and are more accustomed to box restaurants and bars. I sat at the bar and ordered a bourbon neat with a water back. There were three staff members behind the bar, none of them were particularly friendly or outgoing, which as someone who worked in the industry for years is surprising as a new establishment. Even though it was happy hour time, it was a Wednesday the place was less than half full and good servers /bartenders normally add to the experience and help creat a customer base of regulars to sustain business after the "come see" crowd is over. I ordered d' nuts as a snack and they weren't very special, even a bit overcooked / burnt. Maybe this place is exciting for a Palo Alto crowd that doesn't get out much, especially on the stretch of California given the lack of competition. My guess is that after a few months they will be hard-pressed to find a steady crowd.

I was the Designated Driver so I ordered an Iced Tea while others in the group ordered expensive double whiskeys and top shelf cocktails, The owner of the bar comes up to me and says, and I quote, " I paid 1.5 million dollars for this bar, you can't come in here and order iced tea, It's not a coffee shop, you need to order something more expensive" Despite a lifetime of experience of ordering food and drink, apparently I ,the customer, ordered wrong. Not having Iced Tea at a bar is like not having vanilla at Baskin Robbins. There are non-alcoholic drinks here which I was well aware of, but mocktails are usually full of sugar or zero-proof alcohols which often taste like salted donkey anus, So that's not happening with me. After taking a second to process, I put 2 & 2 together and thought this was a money issue, So I said "I don't care, charge me whatever, but I would like an iced tea" and the response from the owner was " I don't care, GO FUCK YOURSELF, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY BAR" as he pulled all of the entire groups drinks back over the bar and started gesticulating wildly. At which point further "Pleasantries" were exchanged across the bar and at the end of it all no additions to police records were incurred and we parted ways. This gatekeeping and aggressively inappropriate behavior seemed wildly incongruent with the mantra of "What would Jerry do" ( Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead ). Regardless, I am never going there again, nor their sister restaurant Bistro Vida. This pretentious, overpriced, clown show of a venue can collapse in on itself as far as I care. The bars decor of cosplaying as a secretive 1920's speakeasy burnishes the venue's lack of differentiation which is in direct conflict with the bars new money aspirations of being elite or exclusive. The ridiculous idea that the owner spent X dollars necessitates you ,the customer, spending Y dollars breaks all social conventions that I have known throughout my entire life. There is no reason for a host/owner to behave like a foul mouthed spoiled child when asked for the basest of requests. The kicker is that this is not new behaviour from the owner and has been a long running aspect of the business https://yelp.to/rVUTLHQ53y ( review from 9 months from my encounter ) I refuse to support businesses that don't respect their customers. I got 2 quesobirria tacos and 2 tacos al pastor, and visually everything looked on point -- the plating was clean, tacos looked well-stuffed, and the birria tortillas had that nice golden crisp. But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

It's a bit small but we got some seats at the bar. The wall art was beautiful. They had TVs to watch sports. Then had a good amount of brews to choose from but of course we were there for the hard stuff. We decided to order just a salad. We had a spicy chicken salad and it was really good. Really good portion too. We also had a couple martinis and cognac neat. The bartender/server was very personable and very knowledgeable about liquor. Especially tequila. A nice spot to hang. Would stop by again if in the area.

More of an homage to bars of yesterday. I participated in a fundraiser at Amandine recently, handpicked by a board member because of the ambiance & overall relationship to the local community. I don't have the details of the cost for an event, but it was money well spent to share our work with a new audience. The bar provided hosted champagne, Old Fashions, & filtered water for our guests. Decor is already amazing & bartender is gifted. He's like a scientist with an aperitif laboratory!! It was fun to watch him create & design & coax & mix & pour. Small bar with nice seating at bar or booths with chairs. Everything is well-maintained and clean. Lighting is perfect with fun accents on walls & tables. Lots of nearby street & lot parking. In fact, many of the customers are locals. Bathroom - just one. Darn. Otherwise, it's clean & spacious.

The hand made fettuccini and dry aged NY steak were both cooked perfectly. The healthy portion sizes were appreciated also, we had leftovers. Also get the bread pudding, you will not regret it! Fun dinner at Sekoya, we will be back.

Came here to celebrate Mother's Day and thought most of the food was pretty good. We ordered…read moretempura mushrooms ($16), octopus ($26), fries ($12), and the mustard greens salad ($19) to share. Tempura mushrooms were quite good and came with an addictive dipping sauce. The octopus was cooked well and I also really enjoyed the sauce it came with. Fries were as expected, and the salad sounded better on paper than it really was. I did enjoy the bits of grapefruit, but those pieces were far and few. For my main, I opted for the scallops ($46). The dish came with 3 scallops and they ranged in various sizes, so it didn't look very uniform. Although the scallops were cooked well, I thought the overall dish was a bit sweet, which is odd for a savory course. Desserts were hit or miss. I thought the teeny tiny cookies ($14) would be a fun thing to order, but they're nothing special. It's literally just a bowl of tiny cookies and not worth the $14 or the calories in my opinion. The butterscotch pudding ($16) was much better, although it too was a tiny portion. I combined the two together, and honestly enjoyed the cookies more that way. Our server was super friendly, but the timing between shareables and mains took way too long. They also never brought out my coffee until I reminded them, and even then I probably should have just cancelled it. However, our server brought out the bill before that happened, so I just decided to ask about it. In general, a bit pricey, but I guess you pay for the ambience. I also thought it was going to be more of an adult atmosphere, but there were some young kiddos running about (to be fair, it was Mother's Day). I'm all for taking kids out to eat, but these kids were flopping around and rolling on the ground, while another kid kept shining his bright light in our direction. It was a bit hectic. I do really like the lights hanging above the bar! They look cool and it was confirmed that they are flexible.

For a menu that's a little all over the place (I mean that in the best way possible; Loco Moco *and* Chilaquiles on one menu is diabolical), every single dish we ordered was prepared just right. If you care about your waistline, do not get the Umami Fries with curried ketchup; that pile of deliciousness will have you addicted like a fiend with its tangy, savory flavoring. Deviled Eggs were standard, if not for the hint of kimchi. I didn't try the Chicken & Waffles or BLT my table ordered. I ate my fair share of Lemon Butter Prawns; a side comes with six pieces & trust me, you won't want to share. The Loco Moco was incredible -- earthy mushroom gravy over sticky sushi rice and a chuck & brisket patty. Topped with an egg (made over medium like I requested) & finished with a side of arugula salad (my favorite greens) & I was full for days (just kidding, hours.) We ordered a lightly-dressed Caesar Salad with avocado just to cleanse our palates from all the rich textures & flavors. I'll be back for dinner STAT, so please save me a seat.

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse. So even though the food wasn't great, and the music was horrible, I will return funnily enough because the decor and the people were worth it.
