Chicken wing meal with fries and mac and cheese
    Toby M.

Had this spot on the list for years since it's right around the corner and finally decided to give it a try. Got the chicken wing combo with a side of mac and cheese. Chicken was very crispy but also pretty bland and a little dry. Highly recommend getting a sauce on the side to dip it in. Mac and cheese was also watery and bland. The fries were the best part and it comes with every combo. Would come back to try the seafood but it's a pass for the chicken. Also came right when they opened with no one else in line but had to wait a good 20-30 minutes due to doordash orders so I would advise ordering ahead for pick up!

Anyone who loves fried chicken should try Clifford's! Their chicken is very crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. What else do you need and good quality fried chicken? Pretty basic side dishes, but we come for the chicken! They also have a lot of fish and chips on their menu. I'll be trying that next time!

The chicken was good, the seafood was alright. The breading for the shrimp and catfish combo was a cornmeal crust, so it was super thick to chew through. I had a few pieces of shrimp before I gave up and peeled away the crust. It was unbearable, sorry. Like super dry and crusty. The shrimp was a decent size and tasted fine. The catfish I was not a fan of (perhaps I am not a fan of this type of fish), it had a strong unpleasant smell of fishiness and was pretty oily/greasy. I didn't like the texture of the fish imo. The chicken drumstick was good. The fries were fine and plentiful. Crispy outside with a soft inside. The honey butter biscuit was to die for, so tender and flaky and buttery. It was delicious. With a bit of honey drizzled on, it was perfect.

Came with a friend for dinner at about 5 on a sunday. The restauraunt was pretty empty with only us there. There's only 1 employee and she was nice. Standard customer service. Noone else was visible. There are a couple tables but not a lot. The inside of the store feels like a popeyes. I ordered the fried catfish and fried chicken breast. The chicken breast and catfish were both pretty good. Very fresh, and juicy. The fries were very crispy and fried perfectly. The biscuit was excellent as well. However, the price was very steep. $25 was a pretty large price to pay. I can see the prices increased significantly over time. Overall solid and well worth a visit.

I remember when this location was occupied by a Guamanian restaurant. I was sad to see it go. I came here for the catfish even though they're known for their fried chicken. I got the chicken and catfish combo which comes with fries and a biscuit. The catfish was the star for me. It was seasoned just right and not overly breaded. The chicken was good too but not the best I've had. It's crispy and juicy and has good flavor, so it's not bad at all. I didn't care much for the fries, which were a bit on the soggy side. The biscuit was just ok for me - a little too dry and not very buttery. I'll definitely be back for more catfish!

Hands down the best chicken sandwich I've had. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and incredibly crispy, and the portions were so generous- a much bigger sandwich than most fast food chains give you while still being a reasonable price. The fries, honey butter biscuit, fish sandwich, and dipping sauces were also delicious. Service was great too and the shop is a cute little spot in the corner of a small strip mall in my neighborhood. I'm embarrassed that I haven't been before since I live just down the street but I will absolutely be back!!

4/1/2025 Clifford's Chicken & Fish 699 Calderon Ave Mountain View, CA 94041 I went there for a quick solo dinner on an early Tuesday evening. It's at the end of a small plaza a block north of ECR. The parking lot was nearly full but turn over is fast. There is some interior seating; a table and chair setup for about 14 people. You order and pay at the counter from the menu board behind the counter. I ordered the two piece dark meat, which came with a biscuit and fries. My meal was brought to me shortly in a box with the biscuit in a bag. The chicken had a crunchy breading and was very moist. The fries were hot and crispy. The biscuit was fall apart moist. Every thing was tasty and a little salty. A very good neighborhood chicken place with reasonable prices. I went here when they first opened for the catfish, which had a "bottom of pond" taste and I wouldn't recommend. It's repeatable for the chicken.

First time here. Located in a small strip in a neighborhood off El Camino. The employee said they've been open for about a year. Tasty fried chicken, fries, shrimp and biscuit! It took a bit for our food but that's okay. It was not greasy at all. Plenty of seating and had some good jams playing. Parking is shared with a liquor store, laundry, hair salon and acupuncture. If no parking, street parking is available. We enjoyed our lunch!

I recently came across this place on yelp and have been dying to check it out. So this past Saturday I decided to make a visit. This place is located in a tiny strip mall in Mountain View, when I walked in I was greeted promptly. I decided to order the 2 piece dark meat meal that comes with side fries and drink. I opted out of the fries and instead got collard greens and added on a coleslaw to my order. They don't have fountain drinks here but sell bottled beverages which is actually like better. I decided to scan the menu again and realized they had Red Beans and Rice, I am a sucker for this. So I asked if I could swap the Cole slaw for red beans and rice, to which the cashier was very nice to allow me to do so. The chicken here is made to order and came out quickly. 2 piece dark meat 5/5 : This comes with a leg and thigh, and came out pipping hot. The chicken has a nice flavor and was very crispy. Cooked to perfection. Collard Greens 5/5: The Collard Greens were excellent, it's so hard to find good Collard Greens. But they executed this perfectly, they were flavorful, and tender. (Note these collard greens aren't vegetarian as they contain smoked meat) Red Beans and Rice 4/5: The Red Beans and Rice was really good the rice was cooked perfectly and the Red Beans were Flavorful. I took a point off as the beans were a bit mushy but still good. Coleslaw 2/5: The Cashier was super Sweet and still gave me the Coleslaw; that I originally ordered even though I swapped it for red beans and rice. The Coleslaw to me was lacking in flavor and was a bit too dry for my liking. A bit more flavor and dressing would have taken this up a notch. I can tell the coleslaw is made in house which I like. Service 5/5: The Cashier who rang me up was super sweet, patient, and accommodating. The service was fast and efficient. Overall, This place is great, if you're in the area and looking for a good soul food spot look for further. The Food is Fresh, Flavorful, and made to order. The service is Very friendly and fast, I will definitely be back.

We went to Clifford's today to try their southern fried chicken through a coworker's recommendation. We ordered dark meat and chicken wings combo, they come with fries and biscuits. Chicken - great batter and seasoning, comes out fresh, it's delicious, I wish they have spicy option as well but they do offer hot sauce. Fries - golden and crispy! Biscuit - simply the best! Excellent with honey.

Crispy fries, crispy catfish, bomb sauce what else can you ask for. Food is made to order so you might to wait 15 minutes but it is worth it. Call ahead if you don't want to wait.

This lived up to our expectations, it was delicious all around. I love the format where you order at the counter and then get your food. It's clean and there are tables to sit at inside, but they seem really optimized for takeout in my opinion. We ordered the shrimp & fish combination along with some chicken, everything was delicious. BEWARE, I eat a little spicy, but their orange sauce is spicy AF! :) I admit I was a bit unprepared and went big on my first bite, but it is legit spicy. The tartar sauce was delicious, I enjoyed every bite of that with my food. * French fries: yes, they were a tad soggy after I got home (we ate them almost an hour later, so it's more our fault), but they were absolutely delicious. These are my favorite type as they have the crusty outside. * Chicken: very tender with a tasty batter that's the perfect amount of thickness; the chicken tasted seasoned through, not just the outside batter * Shrimp: fried to perfection, perfectly coated on the outside * Fish: This was delicious, probably my favorite. There were two golden and tender fried pieces of fish * Biscuit: This looked soft and fluffy, but I unfortunately didn't have any room in my stomach left :) Give Clifford's a try, I feel like you won't regret it. There also seemed to be a lot of regulars there when I went.

We are ALWAYS so impressed with the yummy food (we always get 2lbs shrimp/2lbs crawfish combo in Medium Cap't Loui sauce with garlic noodles, garlic bread, and Cajun fries). Wifey and I are stuffed after this but will cleanse our palate with complimentary popsicles in the freezer by the entrance. So yes, the seafood boil and food is absolutely phenomenal. But even MORE impressive is the generationally excellent customer service, in particular from Aung and Edward. They are true servant leaders and I noticed they take care of each and every patron as if they were family members or royalty. Between the delicious food and the brilliant customer service, you better bet your bottom dollar that my wife and I will continue having our traditional Friday night dates at Cap't Loui!!!!

I usually go to Cajun Bistro for seafood boil, but I find the quality of the seafood there to be inconsistent, which made me want to try a new place. I got the 4lb combo with crawfish (frozen, fresh is $5 extra), shrimp, and clams, including corn, sausages, and potatoes. We also got garlic noodles and a calamari basket with cajun fries. For seafood boil sauce, we opted for the cajun instead of lemon pepper. I wasn't sure if I would finish everything, but it was INHALED. I really like the seafood quality here, but sauce-wise, I prefer Cajun Bistro for the garlic butter sauce. Cap't Loui does not offer that sauce, but it was still delicious overall. Service is timely and our food came fast, so thats a big plus. Only complaint I have here is that I wish there was more sauce in the bowl. The bowl had too much food, so I couldn't dip or soak my seafood in the flavor.

But when I saw that this far-from-ubiquitous chain had opened an outlet right near my home, I figured I'd try it. And I was pretty satisfied. First off, they have a lunch special, which is smaller than their regular combo. Second, you get two out of a choice of half a dozen shellfish: I picked clams, which are really easy to get the meat out from the shell, and crawfish, which aren't so difficult to extract the tail meat (the only edible part worth the trouble) from either. Comes with potato and/or corn. Third is that the food comes with not only a bib and a towelette, but clear plastic gloves. I put these on and felt no difficulty in eating off them, and they did keep my hands clean. I like that. Although there are two levels of spiciness below "mild," I found the mild to be not too spicy, and the Cajun seasoning was delicious, worth scooping up in my gloved hands after I'd finished the seafood. Not too large a meal - maybe next time I'll have a full combo - but tasty. Attentive service - someone was watching to see when I was done, and came over right afterwards.

They're good, but not the best I've had. With my combo 1, I got head-on shrimp and clams with the atomic sauce and mild spice. I heard the atomic was a combination aka Whole She-bang etc. which is what I normally get from seafood boil places. It was ok, nothing too special, very chunky sauce with lots of garlic. The mild spice, however, was really more like a medium spice as it only took a couple of shrimp to really feel it. For my head-on shrimp, most of the shrimp heads were already like detached from the body which defeats the entire purpose of it. They were also on the small side which I know it's by the pound but it's noticeable. It was very underwhelming in terms of that. The clams were good, not much to say about those other than they were absolutely drenched in the chunky sauce. Overall, this place is ok. Nothing really stood out to me compared to other seafood boil places.

It was actually the perfect group to test it. One of us had marinated crab in Boston and loved it, another tried it in Busan and wasn't a fan, and I was a complete first timer. We ordered the Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Crab, Beef Short Rib Soup, and the summer special Hwe Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Raw Fish Mixed Noodle). The restaurant is spacious, and seeing that most of the customers were Korean definitely gave us high expectations. Service was friendly and our food came out in about 10-15 minutes. The raw crab came with a bowl of rice, quail egg, fish roe, roasted seaweed, seaweed salad, and pickled daikon. My friend mixed everything together for us like a pro. Soy marinade was well balanced, the crab had a soft, jelly-like texture and tasted really fresh, not gimmicky at all. My friend who didn't enjoy this dish in Korea actually ended up liking this version, and my other friend even said it was better than the one she had in Boston. As for me, I really enjoyed trying it for the first time. That said, it's definitely an acquired taste and probably not for everyone. If you're not ready to eat raw crab, I'd actually recommend trying the soy marinade with soft tofu or boiled eggs first because the sauce itself is delicious. The Beef Short Rib Soup came with tender meat, but the broth was just okay. Not bad, just not something I'd order again. The Hwe Naengmyeon, on the other hand, was really refreshing. It definitely had a spicy kick, the noodles were soft yet chewy, and the raw fish had such a unique texture that I honestly don't know how to describe it. Served cold with fresh veggies and half a boiled egg, it was perfect for a hot day. Also, banchan were delicious and free refill, our favorite was the Konjac noodle mayo salad and Gyeran Mari (Korean Egg Roll). Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try soy marinated raw crab, and I can definitely see myself ordering it again. Such a fun first experience, and I'll be back to explore more of the menu.
