TLDR: Excellent Fried Chicken! I was just chatting with my friend about picking up Chik-Fil-A for dinner one night, and he suggested Chicken G. There's one in Fremont, but also on in Mountain View, which isn't too far from me. So on a different night, I decided to give this place a try. Short answer: it's REALLY good! Long answer: It's a very very small place. It's got that 80's vibe to it... it's like Falafel Drive-In but with chicken! The staff was nice... although it seemed like there was only 1 front-of-the-house ( I couldn't see in the back). And he was doing EVERYTHING... preparing the food, packaging it up, taking orders.... And it wasn't like the place was super busy at 7:30p on a Thursday. In fact, no one was in front of me, but I still had to wait 5 minutes or so for him to take my order. But finally the order was fired up, and he immediately told me it will take about 15 minutes, because everything is made fresh. Nice! I kinda lost track doom-scrolling, so I peeked my head up every once in a while. I guess he thought I was being impatient, but he assured me, 5 more minutes... Eventually, he called me over, and I took the thing home. Keep in mind, with traffic... it took about 30 min to get home. So the food was getting a little cool. But it was still VERY crunchy, and tasty. My wife immediately took a bite and said it was SO GOOD. She had the 2 tenders and a side (french fries), while I had the chicken burger. The burger was HUUUUGE. I yielded and got a knife to cut the thing in half so I could eat it properly. Even though it was 30 min... the chicken was still super crispy and had a nice satisfying crunch. It blew CFA out of the water, tbh. Tho I still love CFA! Anyway, this place is really really good. It does 1 thing and does it super well. I'd like to try it again, but eat it there fresh and see if that makes a difference. Checkin' chicken with my potna G! Love the vibe here, just a hole in the wall family run chicken shack. The menu and presentation is up to par, the service is immaculate. My server noticed I was a first timer and gave me an extensive run down of the menu, which was extremely helpful. I made my order and they hooked it up fat! Well I was hungry and I went to this place. It's like KFC but way better. The chicken gets fried for your oder and doesn't sit in an oven forever like at the competitors. I had the big G burger which I can really recommend. If you order the big G for lunch you should skip breakfast or you will not be able to eat the whole thing. This is honestly, some of the best chicken in the bay area. The crust was Crunchy with a lot of flavor. The chicken itself was really juicy not dry at all. I do have to say that the service was pretty amazing. They must have checked on us two or three times just to make sure we were okay and that we had everything that we needed. This is a solid spot if you're craving chicken late night. Parking is a bit limited and the place itself is kind of small, but there is seating both inside and outside, which helps. Portion sizes are definitely a highlight. We ordered the 5 tenders with mac and cheese, bread, and fries, and it was more than enough to split between two people. It was a late night. I didn't have too many places to eat at because everything's closed. Luckily, a place called Chicken G's was open near me. When we got there we noticed it had its own parking lot in the back, bathrooms not in the restauraunt, and about 5 tables of seating. The inside looks like your typical american diner. On walls they put "This isn't fast food, it's fresh", to let us know that it will take time to make our food. We decided to order the naughty sandwich. One thing that really stood out to me was that the cashier wiped our table before we sat down. Really didn't expect that, a nice little touch. When the sandwich came, I was floored. This thing was HUGE. I literally couldn't even fit it in my mouth in 1 bite, I had to chip at it bit by bit. but oh man, it definitely did not disappoint- it was craaaazy juicy, with a nice spicy kick from the serranos. The crispiness and juiciness really blew me away- it's like a tier above other fried chicken (buttermilk style, so don't compare it to nashville). When we asked the cashier for more peppers, he really hooked us up- he gave us a tray of them! I was so amazed because I was just not expecting them to actually fill our outrageous request. The service is typically fast and friendly. You do get a lot of bang for your buck, as the servings are generous. It is very rare that I give place open late in Mountain View a rating of less than four stars and it's also rare that I give a place specializing in fried chicken a rating of greater than three stars. Therefore this place was a toss-up in terms of stars when in came to my dining experience here. I know that in today's climate, I may have my citizenship revoked for saying the following but I am not the biggest fan of fried chicken. It's just not my go-to choice when it comes to the American classics. I honestly don't even care for the fried chicken served at Ad Hoc or Wayfare Tavern, which both serve the gold standards for fried chicken according to foodies. With that being said, I do understand what constitutes quality fried chicken and that involves a perfectly seasoned batter and an incredibly tender chicken. Chicken G's delivers on both those aspects. Their fried chicken is some of the best that I've eaten. The sides here are also quite tasty. I got the fries, which were seasoned perfectly and the mac and cheese, which consisted of a béchamel that was incredible. It's been a while since I ordered from a fried chicken eatery that had sides that were great. Chicken G's has all of the qualities that usually result in me loving a place... it's open late, it has a limited menu so as to not to overwhelm you with multiple options, and it delivers on fantastic quality with said limited menu. I went in for a pickup to get some sandwiches for my partner, father, and myself. The staff was very welcoming and quick to serve me, and the shop is lit with warm, but clear lighting providing a good vibe. Their portion size and quality is amazing! It's by far the best chicken sandwich in the Bay Area and it's all of our favorites. One thing to note is even their mild option chicken is still slightly spicy. I have NO spice tolerance so I can feel it but it's not spicy to the point where I am unpleasant. Most people shouldn't worry about it being spicy. The interior is decent, nothing fancy but it seems like a chill hangout spot, especially since they're open until 1 a.m. We ordered The G Meal, which comes with 4 pieces of chicken (2 thighs, 2 drums), 2 sides, 2 Texas toasts, and house sauces. Got here right when they opened and the fryers probably had to reach temperature because the wait was about ~25-30 minutes and I was the second customer of the day. Got the friend's platter and the chicken pieces are nicely seasoned and very meaty. The chicken sandwich is a very large portion, however, the chicken to bun ratio is a little skewed as the chicken doesn't really fill the bun properly, some spots there's lots of chicken and other spots lots of bun. The portion sizes for the sides for the friend's platter are very small, but they are good. Cheese sauce on the Mac was a good consistency and flavor, just the ratio of sauce to pasta was a lot. The coleslaw was refreshing and didn't have too much mayo. I would've liked to have tried the sauces with the chicken, but unfortunately, it was forgotten and didn't make it into the bag. Maybe they're more on top of it later in the day. Service was nice and inside has a decent amount of seating ~25ish seats. The restrooms are outside while there is a prayer room inside. I guess I built up this fried chicken in my mind too much. Had four pieces of dark with fries. The fries were underdone. The chicken was cooked through and the crunch was very satisfying. I tasted the spicy marinade and liked that. The legs were plump and juicy. Maybe on the overdone side. The thighs were a weird cut. I would describe this place as wasted potential. The chicken, just the chicken, is well seasoned and crispy and delicious and generous. But then they put that delicious piece of chicken in between a cold bun with the texture of wonder bread....then they skimp out on the sauce making the burger dry. (If you ask for more sauce you have to pay for it). The Mac and cheese has initial good flavor but it's so soupy and after a while you get sick of it. The fries are not seasoned evenly and also unevenly fried. I think this used to be a really good place but I think they just stopped...caring. My husband has been wanting to try this place for the longest time and we finally made our way here last week with the kids. We got a Friends Meal (4 thighs + 4 drums) with 3 toasts & 3 sides (mac + cheese / fries / coleslaw). The chicken is definitely VERY freshly fried and the coleslaw is one of the best I have had in a long time! The mac + cheese, though, is weirdly goopy... CONS The fries- hot lamp fries served luke warm. Fries need to be served right out the fryer. It only takes 4 minutes to make. Mac n cheese, honestly great, creamy and noodles were cooked perfectly. I stopped by the store around 12:45AM on Friday night after a long day returning from San Francisco. I've visited this location many times late at night, and the staff have always been friendly, taking my order without issue -- I always make sure to show my appreciation with a generous tip. I've been a loyal customer since the San Francisco grand opening (Day1), so I felt it was important to bring tonight's experience to the owner's attention. The cashier, "Justin," who appeared to be of Asian descent, refused to take my order, claiming they had stopped accepting orders at 12:40AM so the team could leave by 1AM (the posted closing time). I only eat Halal food, and this was my only available option that late at night -- unfortunately, I couldn't find any other place open afterward. Since others were still coming in to pick up orders and several customers were seated inside until about 1:25AM, I decided to place an online order through UberEats. My order was supposed to be ready by 1:07AM, but it kept getting delayed, and around 1:17AM it was canceled -- apparently by Justin after calling UberEats support. It was clear he prioritized finding a way to cancel the order rather than simply preparing it. I also noticed him turning away other customers -- a couple and a single man -- before 1AM. This means nearly 45 minutes' worth of potential orders and revenue were lost. As a business owner myself, I know how damaging that can be, both financially and for a brand's reputation. I'm sharing this feedback not to be negative, but because I appreciate what your brand represents -- especially as I believe the ownership is Muslim -- and I think you deserve to know that an employee's attitude and actions may be hurting your business read more
