The staff is amazing! Hands down very friendly and helpful. However I'm not sure about the chicken. I was excited to try this place because the reviews are highly regarded. I tried ordering 1 piece of dark meat just to try it, I end up buying the 4 pcs, because they charge $10 only for one pcs. Yup you heard that right. I asked the cashier if I was hearing that right and he verified. Maybe he was new and did not know what he was doing but I end up spending about $31.00 for 4 pieces with drinks and fry's and also sauces. Definitely a disappointment! The chicken is heavily battered, crispy but bland, chicken has a flavor but it just doesn't taste like a fried chicken should be. I think I should have just had the chicken sandwich which would have been better, if you're coming to this place don't order any bone in chicken, complete waste of money. Just order the tenders and chicken sandwich
This is a solid spot if you're craving chicken late night. Parking is a bit limited and the place itself is kind of small, but there is seating both inside and outside, which helps. Portion sizes are definitely a highlight. We ordered the 5 tenders with mac and cheese, bread, and fries, and it was more than enough to split between two people. Good value for how much food you get. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Fries were alright; my husband and I just wanted it slightly crispier but seasoning was good. Mac and cheese was good. Loved the cheese and pasta was cooked well. Food came out fairly quickly, though the service itself was just okay, nothing standout but not bad either.
This is honestly, some of the best chicken in the bay area. The crust was Crunchy with a lot of flavor. The chicken itself was really juicy not dry at all. I do have to say that the service was pretty amazing. They must have checked on us two or three times just to make sure we were okay and that we had everything that we needed. For such a small establishment for a team to go that far is pretty remarkable. Pretty relaxed environment very simple. You gotta try the lemonade. It was delicious. We had both regular fries and the spicy ones which did have a nice kick to them nothing overly powering, but a nice kick.
Just to get some of the not so great things about Chicken G out of the way; it's not a very sanitary place, and it's not at all a fancy place at all. However, if you want a lot of food for ~ 15 bucks, then Chicken G is the place. The chicken is so tender here, and it's a fun place to just hang out after Volleyball. It's deserving of a 5 star rating! Keep up the good food!
Came here for a quick takeout order on a Sunday around 2pm and there were a few customers eating inside, but no line! Not a whole lot of seating options inside, so more of a casual quick bite or takeout place! ~the food~ - The Big G (~$15) : HUGE fried chicken sandwich! The fried chicken pieces here are very generous and definitely freshly fried! The chicken was super crispy, juicy, and had great seasoning/flavors! It was a bit oily, but hey it's a fried chicken sandwich lol the sandwiches comes with your choice of a side, and we went with the seasoned fries which was also super hot and fresh! ~parking~ there's a small parking lot behind the shop, but also plenty of street parking around the area! ~overall~ it took about 10-15mins for our food to be ready after we ordered since they cook everything fresh! overall, i think this is a great takeout spot for fried chicken! i will definitely be back to maybe try their fried chicken platter!
I got the loaded g fries, which comes with some pieces of chicken. While the flavor was there, the whole thing was too heavy for me so I got full pretty fast. I ended up taking at least half home. The portion is huge - definitely shareable. Most of the chicken pieces I ate felt more like the fried skin, and not the meat itself. The fries were great when freshly made, but not that amazing once it cooled down. I'd suggest sticking with their chicken sandwiches instead. I tried a few bites of my fiancé's sandwich and it was very flavorful, juicy, and huge.
It was a late night. I didn't have too many places to eat at because everything's closed. Luckily, a place called Chicken G's was open near me. When we got there we noticed it had its own parking lot in the back, bathrooms not in the restauraunt, and about 5 tables of seating. The inside looks like your typical american diner. On walls they put "This isn't fast food, it's fresh", to let us know that it will take time to make our food. We decided to order the naughty sandwich. One thing that really stood out to me was that the cashier wiped our table before we sat down. Really didn't expect that, a nice little touch. When the sandwich came, I was floored. This thing was HUGE. I literally couldn't even fit it in my mouth in 1 bite, I had to chip at it bit by bit. but oh man, it definitely did not disappoint- it was craaaazy juicy, with a nice spicy kick from the serranos. The crispiness and juiciness really blew me away- it's like a tier above other fried chicken (buttermilk style, so don't compare it to nashville). When we asked the cashier for more peppers, he really hooked us up- he gave us a tray of them! I was so amazed because I was just not expecting them to actually fill our outrageous request. The fries were pretty good, but I was so full from the chicken I ended up taking most of them home. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone and I'll for sure be coming back when my fried chicken craving hits again!
I really wanted to like this place. I have friends who come here often, and I currently live nearby. But after a few tries, I think Chicken G's isn't right for me. Starting with the pros. The service is typically fast and friendly. You do get a lot of bang for your buck, as the servings are generous. And, when I taste the chicken, I can tell it's well-seasoned, flavorful, and made-to-order. But, I just think the fried chicken is just way too heavy & oily. The breading is excessive, as my mouth dries before I get to the chicken underneath. The sides, like the fries and coleslaw, are also average. While I appreciate Chicken G's and acknowledge some like what's offered, I feel there are better places for fried chicken, even for halal customers.
New to the valley as a founder and from all the businesses I've encountered in SF, Valley, etc. this restaurant was the most welcoming & the greatest service. Amazing food as well & good vibes!
Came here on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't very busy, but the food did take a while to come out. The interior is decent, nothing fancy but it seems like a chill hangout spot, especially since they're open until 1 a.m. We ordered The G Meal, which comes with 4 pieces of chicken (2 thighs, 2 drums), 2 sides, 2 Texas toasts, and house sauces. For our sides, we chose the mac & cheese and fries. Honestly, the sides weren't great. As you can see in the photo, the mac & cheese was clumpy and mushy, and the fries were just okay. The chicken was definitely worth getting tho, super crispy, tender, and juicy. The seasoning was on point you don't even need extra sauce (we didn't even get any house sauces with ours). We also tried The Big G, which is their chicken sandwich with a side. It was so good. My final thoughts: Come here for the chicken and skip the sides.

The best fried chicken sandwich I've had in the Bay! The chicken is fresh, juicy, crispy, and piping hot when served. The bun is warm and buttery, the sauce is just right balanced with the lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I was not tired of the sandwich even after the first bite, and was hooked until the end of the sandwich which left me wanting more even though I was full! Definitely a large and filling sandwich. The side of mac and cheese was also delicious! Will Definitely come back again! The service was fast and people were friendly. There's only a few parking spots in the back but there are street parking in the front. There's a few tables inside to dine in and some outside as well. read more
My friend and I did a best friend chicken sandwiches of the Bay taste test, and we were happy to stumble upon Chicken G's in our neighborhood. When I lived nearby 2022/2023, this was one of our go-to spots. We happened upon their soft opening and were impressed by the quantity and quality. I don't know that I've seen a piece of fried chicken that size in any sandwich. The staff have been fast and friendly, and we enjoy sitting outside and people watching on El Camino. read more

7/23/2024 Chicken G's 1414 W El Camino Real Mountain View, CA 94040 This strip of ECR from this place to Dave's in SV at SSR must be the sweet spot for fried chicken in the area, not necessarily a good thing. This place has a smallish parking lot and lucky on street parking. I got a Chick-licious sandwich with fries for dinner which took a little longer then I expected but they have a lot of take out business. My Chicken was huge with a moist center and crispy, spicy (not really hot) breading. The fries were okay and I saved about half of my meal to take home. It was okay and maybe repeatable but it didn't stand out among the many purveyors in this area. read more

BEST CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN BATTER I have ever had. It's also got a very unique flavored spice to it unlike any other fried chicken I've had. The coleslaw is also a perfect side dish. It also has a unique flavor to it unlike regular coleslaw but in a very good way. Parking can be difficult, it has like 3 spots behind the restaurant otherwise try street parking. I ordered at the counter and got the food very quick! There's actually a decent amount of seating inside and big table outside as well. Would definitely come back again! read more
After seeing this place pop up on my Yelp dozens of times, I finally got to try it for lunch today. I ordered the Big G with sides of fries and mac n cheese. The sandwich was PERFECTION. The portion size was massive and the chicken was juicy and fried to the perfect scraggly-ness. The garlic sauce really tied everything together. It kind of reminded me of a McChicken but way better. No complaints about the sandwich whatsoever. Wow. The fries were delicious too! One thing that I did not care for was the mac n cheese. It was oddly soupy/liquidy but the flavor was alright. I just could not with a soupy mac n cheese. Maybe there are people out there that would like this though. Will definitely be back to try the other sandwiches! read more
We got takeout Naughty Chick chicken sandwiches from here and chose fries as our side. We overall really enjoyed it! Pick up was pretty easy and the portions were large. The chicken seemed good quality and and there were a ton of jalapenos in it, maybe a few too many for me! By the end, my lips were definitely tingling. I definitely which some of the spice was in the chicken itself vs. the serrano peppers but it was still super tasty! Would definitely return if I was craving something like this again! read more
I am struggling to understand where the positive reviews are from. I stopped by here on a Friday evening and it was basically empty. It doesn't seem very clean, and there were flies all around the ketchup/ napkin station. I ordered 3 chicken tenders, a lemonade, and used the check-in offer for a side of fries. It came out to over $22, which is wildly expensive for that meal. The cashier also just stared at me when I walked in, and I noticed he did that to the other customers who came in after. No greeting, no questions, nothing. It was bizarre. The food was okay at best. The fries were clearly made from frozen and the breading on the chicken fell off. Overall, I won't be back. read more

Clean establishment, fast service, limited seating inside but they weren't too busy. Was in town for a concert and wanted to try something we can't get at home. I'm glad we did! Huge piece of chicken on my sandwich, side portions are plentiful. The mac and cheese has great flavor and creamy! I could eat just the mac and cheese. It is a little pricey but what isn't these days! Our total was $66 for everything pictured. read more

Super casual spot with several locations in the Bay Area (Fremont, SF, and Mountain View) serving halal fried chicken dishes. While the majority of their business is take out or to go, there are several tables for indoor dining. We opted for both the Naughty Chick (spicy fried chicken sandwich) and the Combo 1 (fried chicken with French fries). Both items are fried to order and the seasoning as well as the batter are fantastic. They serve all entrees with a mayo based dipping sauce that comes in regular and mildly spicy. All, this is a great place for late night, affordable and tasty eats. Limited indoor dining available. Credit cards accepted. read more

Great for late night chicken dinners with amazing portion sizes and pretty delicious flavor. FOOD [4.5/5] ---------------- + Naughty-Chick [4/5] So spicy!! The jalapenos in this were a bit overwhelming. The burger is a HUGE portion size and so worth it for the price. It also comes with 1 side -- I chose mac & cheese which was nice and creamy to help with the spice. + The G Meal [5/5] Comes with a huge portion of chicken and two sides! Definitely worth it and this alone could probably feed two people. The chicken is all cooked to perfection with a crunchy buttery crust and tender meat. We chose fries and the coleslaw as the sides -- both were delicious. SERVICE [4.5/5] ------------------- Took us about 15-20 minutes to get our food after ordering, which was a bit long for there being no one in the restaurant before us. Service wasn't too friendly, gave us the bare minimum. read more

This is my go to chicken sandwich place, it is delicious and open very late which is convenient. Food: The portions are quite large and the chicken is always juicy and hot. I usually cant even finish all my food from here it is so filling, I typically get the Naughty-Chick which I would not say is really spicy but it is a good level of spice. One thing I would warn to not get is the mac and cheese, it is just not good. The fries however are seasoned so well beware they do get cold very fast however. Their sauces are also very good. Service and atmosphere: It is cute on the inside and if the four parking spots are taken it is a nightmare trying to find parking to go inside. However, door dash is a very convenient way to get food from here. They are typically pretty fast at getting out your food. Overall, I recommend this place as a late night sandwich spot for a good filling meal! read more

Trying somewhere new, I've had chicken G's bookmarked for awhile now and found myself in the area. I went with the 'Naughty Chik' sandwich which comes with their special G sauce, and a side (I went with fries). I love spicy so the fresh sliced Serrano peppers added a nice kick to the sandwich. The main critique I have is that the the chicken itself didn't have a distinct flavor profile. The sauce is what made the flavor when I was hoping it would complement the chicken instead. I also think a little toast on the bun would do good, so it doesn't fall apart or get soggy as you eat it. For $14 you get real value here, especially since it comes with a side. The size of the sandwich alone makes this two meals for small/medium appetites. The order took a little over 10 minutes which is cool bc you know they made it fresh to order. The staff here was super kind, A+ customer service. They have a few parking spots located behind the building, so if those are taken, the side streets or el Camino is your best bet. They have a handful of tables on the inside if you want to eat there. read more

I've had Chicken G's on my radar ever since they opened and since they were opening a second location in Fremont I figured I should finally try them. The restaurant is quite small and has some character. The menu is fairly small as they only feature 3 chicken sandwiches, 3 sides and fried chicken pieces. I decided to go with the Big G Sandwich and this comes dressed with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onions and sauce. I got it without the lettuce and tomato. It also comes with a side and I opted for the seasoned fries. The sandwich was made to order and fresh! It was huge, much bigger than I expected and I love that the chicken sandwiches are hand battered and it wasn't too heavy on the breading. The chicken was crispy on the outside yet very juicy and tender, it had a lot of flavor. The only downside was there were way too many red onions which was a little overpowering. The fries were good as well, hot and crispy and very well seasoned. The perfect side to go with such a flavorful chicken sandwich. I will definitely be back to check out the other sandwiches and even see how the regular fried chicken is. I do want to advise they are a bit pricey but I definitely think they are worth it, the taste and quality are amazing. read more
We had the Naughty Chick and the Big G with sides being mac and cheese and cole slaw. The chicken was delicious with the Big G being more sandwich like with more veggies and the Naughty Chick with a kick with some spicy sauce. The sides were just meh tho. The service was quick and easy, you just order and they bring the food to you once ready. Didn't have a high expectation going into the shop about the ambiance, but man is it poorly maintained. There are flies(?) all over the shop, and one landed and went inside our sandwich :( Place was pretty dirty overall but hey maybe that's the vibe they are going for. read more
Saw the great reviews and since it is so close to our house, thought we give it a try. They are made to order so we had to wait for 10 min. We took it home and omg! The batter was so light and crispy! The chicken piece was huge... looked like a whole piece of breast. We loved the kick of the spiciness . There was shredded lettuce and even the lettuce was fresh and crunchy! The sandwich is so large that it is best to eat it at home ; don't try eating it as you are driving :) Overall this could be even better than chick fil a! read more

I finally was able to stop by Chicken G's. It's kind of tucked away on the side of El Cam. If you're not specifically looking for this place then you might miss it. Everyone opted for the chicken sandos but I felt brave and went for the Loaded G Fries and glad I did. They are not for the weak. It's a mound of frites covered with their sauce, onions, jalapeños, shredded cheddar and huge amounts of crispy chicken pieces. I paired this with their fresh Pineapple drink and it came to $21.07. A little steep for two items but at the same time I Could not finish this in one sitting, so I'd say the price is fair. I'll definitely be back to try their chicken sandwiches which is what they specialize in but for now I'd say I'm happy with what I chose. PS. The lady in front Maria is great! read more

The Mac and Cheese was completely ruined; it was pure mush with overcooked noodles and the sauce was completely split. It only tasted like butter and I couldn't stomach more than a few bites. The Big G sandwich was better but the bun was just a generic untoasted hamburger bun and the cheese was completely unmelted, and the chicken was just alright. The fries were probably the best thing here, not too bad and with nice seasoning. The indoor ambiance was alright, they have a decent number of tables, an area for water and utensils, as well as a prayer room. There was a pest killer indoors that activated multiple times while we were eating, not very reassuring for the overall cleanliness of the place. Overall wouldn't come back, the mac and cheese brought the whole experience down for me and you can find better food elsewhere. read more
Came here since it was a halal option near downtown mountain view. The serving portions are HUGE. After eating here realized how much people get ripped off at Dave's or Angry Chikz based on the serving side. The seating was not a lot but plenty if you go at an not busy time. Would recommend people to come here due to halal food and huge portions read more
A Nashville fried chicken sando this is not, but in all the best ways. There's no spicy levels to be adjusted and things are pretty much just served as described on their straightforward menu. The chicken is pretty darn good though, not to mention being an absolutely *massive* portion with a decidedly asian flavor. Very small parking lot in the back, so come early if you don't want to chance street parking. The place is extremely neighborhood casual, with an old exposed signboard up top but brightly colored interior and some outdoor seating. After ordering up front they'll give you a number and bring out the food for you. Polite staff, though not too talkative. These guys serve a mean juicy fried chicken with a very pronounced curry flavor, with more of turmeric/curry leaf spicing. Fresh sauces that are really rich and crunchy in texture while being not too heavy on their batter. "The Big G" is a good place to settle if you like your veggies, but the Naughty Chick has a *very* spicy kick from freshly chopped serrano peppers that only folks with a hearty tolerance for spicy foods should touch (seriously, hotter than the jalapenos by a long shot). Coleslaw was a bit heavy on the mayo for my tastes, but a good complement to the sando. Mac and cheese was very solid though, with a nice crispy crunch from the toppings and a good creamy richness with a full savory cheesy flavor. If I didn't need the fibre, I'd probably go with more mac &cheese and their fries. read more
