I'm writing this review live, as I experience it. So far I've ordered and I'm here waiting and the energy in here is awkward and quiet. No one is talking, no music and the customer service is dry and uninviting. These guys have no smiles to offer the public, but orders are coming out steady and from what I see, it looks good. As I'm sitting here waiting for my food, I notice they have a prayer room which is super cool and it's open for anyone who needs to pray. I ordered The G Meal, 2 thighs, 2 drums, Texas toast and fries. The chicken looks super crispy and the fries and toast smell delicious! My total is $24.02 after tax. I stopped at Chicken G's for an early lunch today because it was close to the bakery where I picked up my cheesecake. I was not disappointed. Chicken G's is a cute little restaurant located along a busy street. They have their own parking lot, and street parking is also available. The interior of the restaurant is cute and even has a prayer room. We were greeted by a pleasant young man who took our order. They even offer complimentary chai tea, which was delicious. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a regular size to take with me. We ordered a couple of fried chicken sandwiches that were divine. I also ordered the Mac and cheese as a side, which was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. The chicken had a little kick to it, and it was piping hot and crispy when we received it. One of the best chicken sandwich places around, period, AND it's halal? I don't keep with the diet but Chicken G has really set the bar high. Chicken G's menu is pretty simple, just three kinds of chicken sandwiches (regular, tangy, and spicy) and a la carte chicken, and a handful of sides, but the execution is great. The chicken is, in short, amazing. I ordered the Naughty Chicken (Spicy) and was delighted by the crispy breading, a delicious sauce, and a ton of chilis that gave a BIG bite of spice (so much that I actually had to take out a couple! Take my vietnamese card away). The chicken was perfectly tender and crispy at the same time, and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the mac and cheese as a side, but unfortunately it was a little bit dry (maybe I ordered too late?). My friends ordered the french fries, however, and that was fresh out of the fryer and delicious, so maybe it just depends on what time of day you go. Overall there isn't much to be said other than that Chicken G's makes a solid chicken sando that absolutely must be tried if you're in the area (and are craving chicken of course!). Chicken G is the G of chicken sandwiches. I was not expecting the size of this to be so massive. I now understand why women say size matters. You can cut the sandwich half and have two meals for the day. The chicken was extremely crispy, and had some Indian spice to it maybe turmeric. I am not sure what the sauce was, but it was so good and would love to have a whole bottle to squirt on with every bite. The fries are all right. Found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out since we were craving Fried Chicken. We came on a Saturday night and our timing was perfect since we beat the rush. We ordered their fried chicken, fries, coleslaw, and some slices of bread. Their chicken was delicious! Fried to perfection and spiced really well. The flavor profile was nice and gave a good kick of heat at the end. It was a bit too spicy for my toddler son which was a disappointment because he really loved the crispiness of the chicken. WOW, this place is an absolute hidden gem. It's located in a small little shop with nice interior, it had the perfect setting for your local burger joint. There wasn't too much parking in the back, but luckily for us it wasn't too busy on a Thursday afternoon. I decided to try The Big G burger with a side of mac n cheese. The chicken was so crispy and juicy, it was deep fried to perfection. The onion, lettuce and tomato tasted so fresh as well. I enjoyed this sandwich so much. For my side I got mac n cheese, and it was so creamy which I really liked. I also got the Naughty Chicken sandwich. Once again, the chicken was delicious. If you like your sandwich spicy, then I would recommend this one since it had a spicy spread on the sandwich. I've ordered from Chicken G's 40+ times and love the sandwiches, but the mac and cheese situation is frustrating. It's unavailable about 50% of the time, and when I do get it, it's always cold. Just had my mac and cheese canceled again, leaving me with just a greasy sandwich and coleslaw - not enough food. The mac and cheese recipe could easily be improved too - it needs more cheese and to be served hot. You're so close to being great! Please keep it consistently available and actually hot. Had the "big G" this evening for dinner. My oh my that was a big piece of chicken, could have made two sandwiches out of it! Chicken was cooked excellently, not too oily, very good crisp to it. Sandwich overall was hot and yummy. They have a couple of side sauces you can ask for to dip your fries or sandwich in called "g-sauce" which is yellow colored and has a very slight spice to it and is kind of like a take on honey mustard. The garlic sauce was kind of like a garlicky ranch sauce, was pretty thick, went well with the sandwich. Coleslaw was too drenched and sweet for my taste, felt very unhealthy. Also they didn't have any diet sodas when I visited which was odd. Hope that's not a regular thing. Pricing felt fair, maybe even more than fair given the amount of chicken you get. Service was fast, but man the guy working there seemed very unhappy and bored. I wouldn't say he was unwelcoming, but every question had a a sad matter of fact answer, was honestly kind of depressing. We really really wanted to like this place. Parking is not great so go on an off time or plan to park down the street which is not a huge deal. It's super small inside and it was super dirty. Their menu is super simple, their chicken sandwiches are super flavorful, and their fries are even better. Their chicken sandwiches really hit the spot and are pretty big - I wasn't able to finish a whole one in one sitting. AND, their fries are so yummy! Their service was great - really fast, helpful, and our order came fairly quickly. The other time I went there, I placed my order ahead of time on the phone, and it was ready within 15 minutes. I've come here on many occasions now. Their chicken sandwiches are so large, filling, and well fried! The Big G never disappoints me, and the Naughty Chick never disappoints my spicier friends. Their sides, on the other hand, are okay. I once wanted to try mac and cheese while my housemate got fries, but they ended up giving me less fries and giving her both mac and cheese AND fries. Therefore, I think operations could be a little better, but this was a 1/6 visit thing, so it's okay. Food quality/flavor: Average. The chicken breast appears quite large at first, but that is due to the excessive breading. The breading/coating tastes like it is buttermilk based and is very crispy, but flavor is very plain and lack of any spice. All the flavor and heat comes from the sauce and sliced serrano peppers, which are packing some serious heat and there were some extra at the bottom of the box to add more. Fries were good thick cut style and had a cajun style spice to it. They should have added the same cajun spice into the breading. Also, would have preferred the sesame bun to be a toasted a bit more. I drive along El Camino in Mtn View often and got excited when I saw the sign go up and a few weeks later, I finally got to try it. Called, but went to voicemail and I believe the owner or manager called back, which at first I thought was a bit weird, but appreciated that he knew someone was trying to call for some food. Was about a 10 minute wait from the time I called to the time our food was ready and it did not disappoint. They only had fries to choose from, but slaw and mac & cheese are coming son as a side option. They do put seasoning on the fries, which I am not a fan of, but I can easily ask them to hold the seasoning. I opted for the fries. The sandwich had a bit of a kick to it and a whole lot of jalapeños.. which I loved as someone who likes spicy food! The chicken was juicy and thick, leaving me extremely satisfied and filled without even touching my fries yet. The sauce they use in the sandwich pairs well with the buns and the chicken. The fries were seasoned with some sort of spicy (maybe cajun) seasoning. They were quite good. I do wish that they offered an option to just get the sandwich and not a side. My friend asked about it and they said they could do it but for the same price, so there wasn't really a point to not getting a side. We found this place because we were looking for a late night dinner and settled for late night take out. We ordered the Naughty Chick sandwich combo abdthe 4 piece combo which is really just two 2-piece combos. The fried chicken is excellent. The batter is medium thick and has a great crunch to it. The spices have a slightly different flavor to it. Here's my one disappointment, we get two sides with the 4 piece combo and one side with the sandwich BUT they ONLY have fries, no cole slaw and no Mac 'n cheese. Needless to say I was mildly disappointed but the fries were crispy and worked fine. We got there around 10:00 pm ish (it's the first week of November), it's a take out joint with fast food restaurant type of seating if you wish to dine in. We were thinking of eating there but started freezing our butts off as we waited for our order and decided to take it home. 15 mins later we opened the containers and the chicken was still crispy. Our last visit to this place didn't go too well, but they owned up to their mistake and made up for it by refunding an order with missing items. The chicken in their sandwiches are generously portioned. The sauce they use compliments the spice blend with the chicken. We've stayed away from this place for a while after questioning the cleanliness and food safety practices shown by the front counter employee. The to-go bag we received was greasy because he never changed his gloves between handling the register and packing the food in to-go containers. The owners need to train their employees to properly and safely handle food preparation, and to be self-aware of frequently changing gloves when switching tasks. Or, simply have another employee handle the register and bagging duties. If you are a frequent customer, observe how your food is being handled and don't be to shy to ask the front counter employee to change their gloves when handling your order.
