My Kazakh friend introduced me to lagman so I've been on a mission to try all the variations! I got the wok fried lagman here which came with noodles, beef, and vegetables. It was a regional variation very different from others I've tried - a very smoky, spiced flavor that I can't put my finger on but it was finger licking good! I also got the yogurt drink, which is like a very thin kefir with a little fizziness. Not too sour not too sweet a great complement to the meat! This is the first place where I've found shawarma that actually tastes good. I'm used to Eastern European style, and I couldn't find anything similar until someone recommended this place. The only downside was my last visit -- the shawarma had ketchup mixed with a garlic sauce instead of just the usual garlic sauce. Not sure why they changed it, but I really hope it's not permanent. I'm going to revisit the place but not sure if I need to mention this when I make an order. I tried chicken shawarma, they have King size too (it is pretty big portion!). The prices are pretty average. I paid for my order $15.95 + tax. I chose to-go option and received really nice bag for my order! Staff is super friendly. You can pay cash. Foodtruck is located next to the gas station, so it can get pretty busy there. There is a restroom from the gas station nearby. There is even the area under the tent if you prefer dine-in option. Vostok is that elusive foodie find, a cute aesthetic food truck in a gas station with outrageously delish homemade central Asian food, lovingly prepared from the best ingredients. Plov had the perfect savory taste of cumin seasoned beef and glossy rice and carrots. It came with a nice refreshing tomato onion salad. I couldn't get enough of the rice in this dish. The chicken shawarma wrap was SO GOOD. The sauces, tangy pickle, cabbage, tomato, chicken, all melting inside a crackling crispy toasted lavash crunchwrap. Oh my. I had the apple compote juice special. Great with the food, adding a fruity element, but not too sweet. The service was awesome; this clearly a labor of love. Feels like an undiscovered gem. We went on Tuesday night, around 9pm. There was no line at the time. Service was good. We got Plov and beef/lamb shawarma. Both were very good. Love this spot! Been here about 4 times. It's in a gas station parking lot so if you blink and you might miss it. They have a canopy and tables in the shaded area of the back lot. They're all really nice and friendly. Food is absolutely delicious. I get the chicken shawarma no fries. Extra sauce on the side because it's so good I could drink it. Well, if you're from Central Asia, you'll probably won't like the food. The fried dumplings were just store bought pelmeni from a Russian market, thrown in a pan and served with no sides at all. Literally just fried pelmeni for $16. The lagman wasn't authentic. It tasted like chow mein and had no flavor. The beef shawarma had no taste either, and they stuffed fries inside to make it look fuller instead of adding real meat or at least more salad. The meat that was there was also low quality. I am from Tajikistan and really miss our food and wanted to enjoy and support this place but I walked away completely disappointed. read more

Great place, it's a food truck, with place to sit, and had self service free warm tea! I ordered Shawarma beef, which was delicious but I would say it's a bit pricy. I Paid above 18 dollars (tax included) for one Shawarma. Partially the beef was a bit chewy (maybe not very fresh but still okay). Any way, If it was 3 dollars cheaper then it would be more reasonable to me and I could consider coming more often. More importantly the food is Halal. Which I appreciate that a lot. I'd love to give 5 stars, but my experience is closer to a 2. The first time I came in to order a beef shawarma, I was told the beef was still cooking and I'd need to wait about 30 minutes. No big deal - I placed the order and left. I came back after 40 minutes and was told I needed to wait even longer. In the end, it took over an hour to make 4 shawarmas. They said the employee was new, which explained the delay. As an apology, they offered me a can of Coke. I declined - this stuff happens, so it's fine. About a month later, I decided to give it another try. I called ahead and ordered 3 shawarmas without fries. I double-checked a couple of times to make sure there would be no fries. I was told to come back in 15 minutes. When I arrived, the order still wasn't ready - fine, no problem. But it ended up taking over 30 minutes. When I went to pay and pick it up, I heard the same explanation again: the employee was new and had accidentally put fries into all 3 shawarmas. I ended up leaving without my order. The cherry on top: the employee who used the payment terminal was wearing gloves completely covered in grease, which makes me think the gloves aren't changed very often. read more

I also had their Kompot, a sweet homemade lemonade, and loved that it was light and not overly sweet --just perfect for my taste. The spot is tucked inside a gas station, so parking can be a little tight, but that didn't take away from the great food and service. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The plov seemed to be made with very low-quality rice and had an unpleasant smell and taste. The pelmeni dumplings were overly fried and hard on the outside, yet not fully cooked inside, which made them difficult to eat. They tasted like frozen dumplings that may have been cooked directly from the freezer. Additionally, both the beef and chicken shawarma had a noticeably off taste as if the meat was not fresh. i come from southern brooklyn where it's swarming with uzbekistan and kazakhstan food. i came here excited to see if i can get the same quality of food. i ordered a plov and was deeply disappointed. first, the container was half empty. i smelled a very faint fragrance from it. most importantly, the plov was just lacking in flavor. wasn't just not enough salt, but flavor. secondly, it was $17 after tax for a half empty container of rice. i wanted to like it, but this is bad. read more

Tried the Vostok food truck for lunch today and it was delicious. We ordered the chicken shawarma, Plov and Wok Lagman noodles. I learned that Plov is an Uzbek national rice dish topped with stir fried beef and vegetables, fresh tomatoes/onions are included to mix in. The noodles with beef were perfectly fresh and chewy, chili sauce included on the side. The chicken shawarma was nicely seasoned with a nice thin wrap toasted crispy. The fried pelmeni dumplings were not available so we'll need to try on a return visit. The food truck is located in the gas station parking lot and has covered seating.
