Naan, spinach & lamb, chicken tikka masala and basmati rice
    Julie W.

We walked by just after 11 am on 4th of July and Zareen's wasn't very crowded so we decided to have lunch here. By the time we left, almost all the tables were filled. We ordered the Naan, basmati rice, chicken tikka masala, and lamb & spinach. They were good. The dishes are almost exactly like the Mountain View & Palo Alto locations. They have canned soda. We asked for cups & ice. I thought one of the servers was going to spill the lamb & spinach dish on us and the table but they saved it. Whew! They must have been excited to be doing something. It was great that they were very well staffed. It seemed like they had 9 servers/front people and 6 kitchen staff but they were all a bit unorganized. Two were cooking , on the phone, or watching. They all moved back and forth like they were working or just looking busy. I only say this because I was trying to find someone to flag down for boxes and I would watch workers walk by like they were busy, go to the back of the restaurant just to turn around and walk back to the front of the restaurant or they were also busy looking at their black phones, orders? With so many workers, I should have had a good number to choose from but they also didn't look up. But as soon as food was ready in the kitchen, a few would grab them and take them out. Normally, I don't care but we sat close to the kitchen and it wasn't a relaxing area. Employees were very nice, food was good, but I will probably wait and give them time to get organized before coming back.

Small box is full plate of paneer tikka masala and big box is chicken tikka masala.

I was highly disappointed with the quantity of food we received in our delivery order yesterday. We ordered the grilled chicken boti sizzler, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, and garlic naan. As you can see in the picture, the small container is the full order of paneer tikka masala, while the larger container is the full order of chicken tikka masala. The paneer portion was barely enough for one person, and the chicken would serve, at most, two people. The portion sizes were far below what we expected for the price. I've always enjoyed Zareen's in the past and have dined multiple times at your Palo Alto and Mountain View locations, so this experience was especially disappointing. The grilled chicken boti sizzler was the only dish that met expectations--it was generous in quantity and tasted great. Unfortunately, both the paneer tikka masala and chicken tikka masala were quite average in taste. To top it off, the garlic naan was sent loose in a paper bag instead of proper packaging, which affected its freshness and presentation.

This place recently opened and it was one of my first times eating Indian food. Samosa (5/5); Super solid to eat with it being packed will filling. The outer part is crunchy so it good balance between texture. Chicken Tiki Masla (5/5): I loved the tomato based sauce as it reminds me of a tomato soup. The rosy flavor definitely added elegance to this dish. Beef Kebab sizzler (5/5): I can definitely taste the quality of the ground beef as it's sourced from Harris Ranch. It's a bit spicy, but there was great flavor of the beef. Overall I really enjoyed my first experience at an Indian restaurant.

We were loyal patrons to the Mountain view location and got super excited when we knew that it opened in Sunnyvale Downtown. And we realized that we were not the only ones. The place was super crowded on a weekday night at 6PM! Speaks volumes about their consistency in taste over the years. We ordered Lamb Ghosht Thali (5/5), Palak Methi Paneer Thali (5/5), Paneer Butter Masala (4/5), Shammi Kabab(3/5), Pani Puri(2/5). Loved the combos, softest naan, dal tasted heavenly, salad was yummy, and the curries so flavorful. The Spinach/Methi in the paneer dish was not ground into a paste, which makes the curry mouthful and tastier. Shammi kabab is an acquired taste and very distinctly Pakistani/Lucknowy, not a fan! Pani puri was disappointing- the sweet sauce was overpoweringly sweet!

I'm so glad they opened a Zareen's location in Sunnyvale! The food and service are just as good as the other locations. There's indoor and outdoor seating available, and the wait time wasn't too bad. I ordered the Chicken Tikki Thali with garlic naan (+$2.50). I recommend getting the thali because the portions were huuuge and it came with sides (salad, veggies, and lentils). The pani puri, samosas, and mango lassi are always a must get for us. We also discovered they have mango ice cream, which is literally mango lassi but in dessert form! The quality, atmosphere, and cost of Zareen's is unbeatable. It figures why this chain is so popular in the bay! Definitely a must-try spot.

I cannot say enough good things about Zareen's. This location is so nice and new, and the service was amazing. I ordered the tiki masala wrap and mango lassi, everything was SO GOOD. The sauce that it comes with is amazing. (Always ask for the green and purple sauce too) Rose and mango ice cream is also yummy if you're craving something sweet!

Located in Sunnyvale Downtown, parking is plentiful and easy to find. The interior is loud and bustling. It does get busy so highly recommend calling ahead to get your name on that waitlist. Madras chicken curry thali (4/5): good kick to it. Chicken was very tender and juicy. The balance of the sides and other dishes were great too. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Zareens has some delicious Indian food. Service is quick too.

Absolutely recommend Zareen's for your Pakistani & Indian food fix. Zareen has 3 other locations, but I'm stoked there's now one in Sunnyvale, which is only 10 minutes from me! WAITLIST/SERVICE Upon approaching the host stand out front, we were immediately greeted and added to the waitlist. We were in 10th place, and it took about 20 minutes. The service throughout was exceptional and attentive. FOOD Always a good time at Zareen's tbh. The food hits, and the interior design/decor is a whole vibe. FAV items to order: - Chicken Tikka Masala Thali - Lamb Gosht Thali - Masala Fries - Pani Puri (5 pieces) - Mango Lassi -Palawan Paneer Soooo many items to choose from based on what you're craving. Highly recommend checking Zareen's out if you've never tried them before.

After eating at the Zareen's in Palo Alto, I was excited to learn that one was opening in Sunnyvale, which is slightly closer to me. I went with a group of friends on a Thursday evening, and it was expectedly busy. We were seated within 5 minutes in a booth, and despite the crowded inside, there were a good amount of seats outside as well. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Thali, and it was delicious! No complaints whatsoever. Service was also quick, and the food was reasonably priced.

Grilled Chicken Boti Sizzler Thali with Garlic Naan

Super happy that Zareen's is now opened in Sunnyvale! Came here on Thursday for dinner and sat inside the restaurant, and it was quite warm with no AC (outside was cooler actually!). However, the food is amazing. We started off with the chicken samosas and it came out hot and crispy. Two toes of chutney were provided to go with it, super yummy. The chicken samosas had a ton of spices and were quite spicy. They were a bit smaller than I remembered these to be though. Still, good! Ordered the grilled chicken boti thali with Garlic Naan instead of rice, and everything in the plate was phenomenal. The curry was so flavorful and creamy. Garlic naan came out crispy and warm and super garlicky! Lentils and salad were great. And the star of the dish, the grilled chicken boti itself, was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I also got their Mango Lassi - it's not very tart here which I like, but some might prefer it to be more tart. Service was fast and attentive. Our plates were immediately taken away when we finished. Waters were replenished when we were low as well. Definitely would be coming back again! They can get quite busy and they only seat full parties!

I tried Zareen's for the 1st time and it was really good! I got the chicken tikka thali to-go. I had ordered online. When I got home, I noticed the mixed greens were missing. I called them and they said to-go orders don't get the mixed greens? Is this true? If it's true, u should mention in the description

So glad they opened in Sunnyvale! The quality and consistency is there. Interior is beautiful and very chic. We got the chicken tikka masala à la carte with a side of rice, two garlic naans, and their potato samosas. Two chais and a mango lassi for bevvis. Everything was as good as I remembered from the other locations. Chais were solid--not too sweet! Definitely get the mango lassi as it's delicious and a great sweet tropical addition to your meal!

Didn't realize the Sunnyvale location is open! Same good food as the other locations. Came here on a late Thursday night and it was packed. Service was still very quick though. We sat outside with the heat lamps on. It was very cozy. The garlic naan and mango lassi are must orders. We also tried their Thursday special biryani. It was surprisingly light and not oily! Happy to have another great spot to go to in downtown Sunnyvale

It's a small, no-frills place with a very basic setup--but honestly, the food is what truly matters here. We ordered chicken seekh kabab, chicken tandoori, chicken kadhai, along with garlic naan and butter rotis. The chicken seekh kababs were juicy, but they had a very strong and slightly off-putting turmeric flavor. It felt like there was a bit too much turmeric, which overpowered the other spices and slightly ruined the overall taste for me. However, the chicken tandoori completely made up for it. It was juicy, spicy, and perfectly charred--exactly how a good tandoori should be. The highlight for me was the chicken kadhai. Usually, I find chicken kadhai to be too tomato-heavy and overly tangy for my liking, but this one was perfectly balanced. The flavors were rich without being overpowering, and paired with the soft garlic naan and fresh tandoori roti, it was an absolute delight. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. Despite the simple ambience, the quality of the food shines through. We'll definitely be going back to try more dishes from the menu.

This location was much more peaceful compared to the Palo Alto location. I stopped by on a Saturday evening, and there were only a couple tables that were occupied. I will say I feel like the portion sizes here are noticeably smaller than those at the Palo Alto location. This might be because all of the orders are packed to-go, so maybe there's less space for food? For instance, the thali from the Palo Alto location includes a side salad, which was not included in my order here. The other sides (pickled salad and daal lentil), along with the entree, were also significantly smaller here. The prices are the same, so I do think the Palo Alto dishes are more worth it.

M E N U Fairly extensive with Tandoori dishes, curries, vegetarian faire, biryanis, naans, wraps...my head was dizzy from all the choices. But I went with the recommended Bangen Bhartha, Chicken Biryani, and a plain naan. ~ Bangen Bhartha ~ The description: a unique blend of eggplant, tomatoes, onions, cream and spices. And indeed it was. You can taste that they grilled the veggies which reminded me of a Filipino grilled eggplant dish. I love a good grilled eggplant and this went great with the plain naan we had. ~ Chicken Biryani ~ The description: Tender pieces of chicken cooked with basmati rice and spice flavoured sauce garnished with raita. That raita though....man I saved what I had after I finished that dish and used it on other food I had in the house. I love a yogurt sauce. It also complimented well with the chicken biryani. Again full of flavor but beware of stray chicken bones and hard pieces when chewing the rice. It is a bone in chicken that they cook which helps with the flavor of the dish not so much for your teeth. Also complimented well with the bangen bhartha. ~ Plain Naan ~ The naan was plain and I had to have the plain one as much as I'd love the garlic one as I do have garlic sensitivities. But it was crisp, chewy, sizeable and complimented our eggplant dish well. S E R V I C E Basically you order at the front, they give you a number. The biryani was super flavorful and not dry, and the egg paired with it well. All the curries were spicy and delicious, honestly not much more to say about it. I will say their raita is not my favorite, its just thick plain yogurt. I ordered online and I had to wait a little when I got there but that was okay. The interior is also spacious will lots of seating.

Local Pakistani artwork adorning the walls. Delicious grilled meat smells wafting around as well. ***FOOD: we got chicken 65, naan and samosa chaat sans yogurt. *chicken 65-3/5- this was almost beetroot red in color. In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.
