First time at Burma Taste in downtown Sunnyvale and my friend and I shared the rainbow salad and mango tofu! The mango tofu I thought was good, sweet and fruity with some heat. I wish the fresh mango was cut in larger pieces and there was more onion that I would have liked. We ordered Jasmine rice separate to pair with it. The rainbow salad was delicious and the sauce was tasty. I recommend mixing it extra to make sure all the sauce gets spread evenly. Imo the best part the different textures and crunches of the many ingredients. Service was a bit slow but we were seated outside on a busy weeknight!
This was a great spot for a Sunday lunch with friends. We shared a few dishes and what I appreciated was that they were able to put the cilantro on the side so our cilantro lovers and haters could enjoy the food together. Mountain view prices being high, it felt a little higher than standard, but service was really good and the blend of flavors was just right for me. I'd definitely recommend this place!
Ordered the Nan Gyi Thoke from DoorDash and it was so flavorful! The chicken was tender, and it came with chicken curry on the side. I forgot to take a picture because I was too hungry . Would definitely order it again, and I'm looking forward to visiting the restaurant in person and try different dishes!
First time here and was very impressed with all the dishes. We had the lettuce wraps and pork belly as appetizers. The filling on the lettuce wraps was a little on the wet side (meaning it stuck together versus being crumbly/separated), that's neither good or bad, and the taste was good. The pork belly was crisp and I think purposely cooked crispy, and the sweet and sour type sauce added some moisture- went together well. For the entrees, we had tea leaf salad - really good with a lot of textures via the seeds to go along with the greens and other vegetables. Both noodles (House Noodles with Shrimp and Curry Noodles with Chicken) were also great, with the House Noodles being almost Pad Thai like in seasoning and the curry one being rich and lots of umami. Generous amounts of chicken, cooked well so it was easy to shred apart. Finally, the honey walnut shrimp was done really well. Plenty of walnuts, not overly sweet or goopy - one of the best versions I've had. Service was great, attentive, polite/friendly, and they filled our water glasses frequently. Decor was pretty typical - but on the nicer/classier end of the level of this type of restaurant. So nothing really to criticize! We'd happily come back here again.
6 of us came here for dinner on Friday with a reservation at 6:30pm. Parking in the parking lot at the back wasn't too bad, just had to wait for a little bit for someone to leave. The restaurant was busy, but not completely full. Service was friendly. We shared 2 appetizers (small bites), 2 tea leaf salads, 2 noodles and a shrimp dish: . Lettuce Wrap (4/5): delicious; I liked the water chestnut and shiitake mushrooms among other veggies; the romaine lettuce was fresh; filling was more moist than I expected (in a good way) . Crispy Pork Belly (3/5): kind of dry; it came with a sweet chili sauce, fortunately . Tea Leaf Salads (4/5): they came pre-mixed; they were crunchy and well seasoned . Nan Gyi Thoke (5/5): loved the creamy coconut chicken curry sauce; very flavorful . Burma House Noodles with Shrimp (3/5): similar to Pad Thai, but a bit sweeter . Honey-glazed Walnut Shrimp (5/5): well executed dish, similar to what you would get at a good Chinese restaurant Great place to catch up with friends while sharing tasty food. Didn't feel pressured to leave, even though we chatted for a while after we're done eating.
walked past here a few times & never thought to try it sat outside bc had a dog w me not bad tbh?? idr what half the dishes were but the chicken soupy one was rly good (oh no ka something?) drinks all could've been a bit stronger imo some of the meat dishes came out a bit too greasy for my preference but overall our group enjoyed it
Burma Taste is so so good. My husband and I are big fans of Burmese food and always visit this restaurant when we are in Sunnyvale. The parking can be tricky, but every once in awhile we get lucky and find a spot in the lot, otherwise we park on the street. The staff here are always friendly and they refill your water as many times as you need it, which can be often because jalapeños are spicy haha. The restaurant has delicious food, a few of our favorites are the palata and chicken dip, garlic noodles, tea leaf salad and the coconut rice. They also have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar. The lights inside the back of the restaurant where the booths are located are so neat, they look like little birds nests! If you're in Sunnyvale, try Burma. They have vegan options as well as something for the meat eaters.
Enjoyed a nice lunch at this place on Father's Day. We had no reservation but we were still able to get seated immediately. Their food is never disappointing. It's one of the best Burmese places closer to San Jose. We ordered Tea Leaf salad (10/10), Chicken curry with Plata (8/10), Lemongrass Chicken (8/10), Chicken Fried Rice (8/10) and Tofu Noodles (5/10). The noodles were a bit sweet which was not something we were expecting Other than that, their service and staff is always on point.
We decided to go for a walk to downtown Sunnyvale on a Friday night and have dinner at Burma Taste. There is free parking after 6 pm at the train station parking lot. There is also an underground parking lot. There was no wait. There were people perusing the outdoor menu. It was pretty full. Even though service was efficient it seemed rushed so it wasn't exactly a relaxing atmosphere to relax and eat. We decided to try some new items, pumpkin curry, swai curry, and fish instead of our regular items. Dishes had interesting flavors. They seem to offer a variety of curry with your favorite protein: fish, chicken shrimp, pork, and beef. 3 entrees, brown rice, and two drinks came out to $94.23 ($13.50 tip on a $80.73 bill). We will probably order a combination of old favorites & new ones next time.
I've been here twice now and figured it's time for a review. Solid Burmese spot when I'm craving tea leaf salad! Eats: Tea Leaf Salad Chicken Palata Salt n Pepper Calamari Fish Pumpkin Curry (crispy breaded filet) Garlic Eggplant Nan Gyi Dok noodles Coconut Rice My usual order consists of the salad, flaky palata flatbread, and the noodles (like a yellow chicken curry with wide rice noodles). Burmese coconut rice is sticky and sweet like dessert. I prefer plain jasmine rice but my friends like the coconut variety. Tea leaf salad has so many crispy crunchy textures with the tea leaf oil dressing. I love it! I'm not a huge fan of eggplant because it gets mushy but their's is firm enough for me with excellent garlic sauce. Their blue green water cups are from IKEA, which I thought was pretty cool. Employees are attentive and courteous. The first time I ate here, we arrived 45 min before closing and they were still nice to us. They didn't kick us out but we felt bad and left 15 min past close time. I'll definitely come back!
Decor food service everything top notch. After I turned Burmese salad at a diff location I was drawn to try more Burmese food. Burma taste does not disappoint. Being a vegetarian/eggetarian I got their fried rice and tofu veggie and it was so flavorful. Am not normally a tofu person but this didn't even look like tofu and was delicious. Ambience is beautiful. Service was quick and effective. Worth trying for sure. Not very expensive too. Around 200$ for 5 of us tax and tips additional though. Fried rice had egg so if you a vegetarian and don't eat eggs don't order that as fried rice had scrambled eggs in it.
* Tea Leaf salad is amazing. Definitely recommended. We went here for lunch and ordered Tea Leaf Salad, Black Pepper Chicken, and Swai Curry with coconut rice. Coconut rice, definitely recommended. The black pepper chicken has a nice crunchy breading. It has a savory sweet taste too. The service was fast. There were a lot of tables during weekdays at 1pm maybe because lunch hour was almost over. They're open until 2:30pm for lunch service. I also tried the Eggplant in garlic sauce and the Mango Swai a week later. Both of them are tasty. Overall it's a good restaurant. It's nice to have Burmese Cuisine options. I'm still am on to try more dishes here. So far Tea Leaf Salad is my favorite.
Food is good. Lot of options for vegetarian. Dishes come fast and order are all correct. Great place to celebrate with friends or business clients. Reliable quality. Parking is a little tough.

Stopped by for the first time tonight for dinner. The service was excellent and my server Stefania was so kind, explaining some of the dishes checking in regularly. - Burma Breeze: adult drink was good - Tea leaf salad: Excellent and the ingredients were so fresh (nuts, vegetables, chips, etc.) - Burma chicken curry: It was okay, but not my preference. It was lighter curry than I'm used to and lacked flavor imo - Black Pepper Shrimp: Delicious, but a little oily - Coconut rice: Good but the flavor didn't mix with the dishes imo. Next time I'll do white/brown rice. I hope to come back and try other dishes there! read more
Located in Downtown Sunnyvale, parking is difficult to find. The interior is spacious and good for small to medium sized groups. The ambiance was chill and laid back. Food took a while also. I loved the garlic noodles. Flavor was good and texture was solid too. However portion sizes were a bit small. Nonetheless there was a good mix of other ingredients. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Burma Taste has some solid and delicious food. read more

This was my first time tasting Burmese and I loved it! The food was delicious, service was good, and we didn't have to wait long on a Friday night. Definitely going back. We ordered: - Samosas: good flavor. Didn't need the accompanying sauce. - Palata with Curry Dip: delicious! The Palata was perfectly crispy. The dip paired deliciously with it. Not too strong or overpowering. - Crispy Pork Belly: this was OK. It wasn't as chewy as we thought it would be. I liked that. - House Noodle: so tasty! I loved it. Highly recommend. - Mango chicken: this was OK. I love the flavor, tastes like eating a mango, but I wish the chicken was fried, it's grilled. It would pair nicely with rice. Not bad, just not my preference. - Chili Beef: this was delicious! The beef was tender and packed with flavor. Not too spicy. - Pineapple Fried Rice: Great addition to our order. Hello Burma Taste! My friend and I ordered the rainbow salad, coconut chicken noodle soup and mango chicken with steamed rice. Everything was absolutely delicious. I always love Burmese cuisine and I love how the flavors and textures just absolutely pop. It is because of Burmese cuisine, I joined Yelp over 20 years ago and still to this day, Burmese cuisine is my absolute favorite. I love how fresh everything tasted and the staff was very friendly and nice. I can't really eat spicy food and the staff was able to separate all the spicy chilies from all of the food. That is a big Plus in my book. My friend loves spicy food so he enjoyed all of it as well. I cannot wait to come back and try more items on their menu. read more
It was my first time eating here. We got seated quickly since there weren't many folks in the restaurant, since it was during the winter holidays & people were prob out of town right before NYE. We ordered: Tea Leaf Salad - Ok. Wouldn't try again. A bit too fermented. Burma Crispy Chicken - Think an upgraded Chinese orange chicken that's nice & crispy with a thin crust! Yum!! 10/10 would order again! Best thing I had there!! Nan Gyi Thoke Noodles - Yummy! I would order again! The staff were very attentive. I have been to Burma Taste for lunch quite often. Last night I ordered it to go. I don't know if it was the cold weather and hot food combination or the spicy sauce they gave - But OMG, I loved the food! We got black pepper prawns, lemongrass chicken and garlic green beans. I always enjoy the tea leaf salad! When I asked for the hot sauce to go, the lady asked me, how many - I said 2 - she gave it without hesitation. I love hot sauces, but this was super spicy. Handle with caution :) Post Covid, they have created an outdoor seating for this place. Ambiance is great. They have a lot of great restaurants on Murphy street now to choose from :) read more
Heard about this place and decided to try it out. Got the Tea Leaf Salad, Samosa, Pumpkin Curry, Burmese Curry, Burmese Chow Mein, and the Eggplant Garlic. Tea salad is super savory as the dressing is made with fermented tea leaves. It's was delicious and refreshing. The samosa were fried well and hot. Wouldn't necessarily get them again though as there are other options on the menu. The curries were both amazing. They were flavorful, but not spicy spicy so those with a low tolerance are able to enjoy them. The Burmese curry, to me, tasted similar to some Filipino dishes and the chicken that we got with it was super tender. The pork in the Pumpkin curry was also super tender which I liked. As for the Chow Mein, I probably would've rather tried the House noodles. Eggplant was very tasty. All the food came out in like 10-15 minutes which is super fast. Service was nice and friendly. There's plenty of seating inside and some outside. Parking can be tough if it's busy but there's always the parking garages. Overall, great food, go check them out! read more

My friend and I visited this location on a Friday evening at around 7pm. When we arrived we were surprised that there was extra outdoor seating since the space is covered and has space heaters. We were greeted and seated immediately which was a huge plus in my book. To kick things off, we ordered several dishes to prepare for a family style meal. The first dish we ordered was the tea leaf salad since you can't go wrong with that - it ended up being mediocre. Compared to the previous tea leaf salads I've had such as Mingalaba in Burlingame, this one just didn't have the right kick. The next thing we ordered was the garlic noodles with shrimp - the noodles on this dish was bland, it really lacked flavor and there was about 5 shrimps in that dish... I highly do not recommend this dish. Lastly, we ordered the pepper chicken which was the highlight of the meal - pair it with a bowl of jasmine rice and it was pure perfection. Overall, I'd say definitely come and try it. My more accurate rating for this spot would be about a 3.7 stars. read more
Decent food, good atmosphere. Went here for dinner to celebrate a birthday and they gave us a complimentary birthday vanilla ice cream with a candle, served with a sprinkle of edible birthday confetti flakes, a candy cherry , and orange slices in a martini cocktail (triangular) glass!! The ice cream was rich and creamy and had a gelato-like texture and consistency without feeling too thick or heavy. We ordered the black pepper beef, vegetable curry (green beans, carrots, okra, eggplant, tofu), and samosas. Loved the potato samosas!! The beef had nice flavor but was really tough and hard to chew/break apart for some pieces. The vegetable curry was soupy and tasted really good (green beans and tofu were a highlight, and eggplant was good but there was only 1 tiny partial piece of eggplant included in the dish), but doesn't come with rice. We had a nice dinner overall and the waitress gave us a bag automatically for our Togo boxes - that attention to detail was appreciated! Service was efficient and friendly! read more
We came here on Sunday night for dinner. There was little wait and we were seated pretty quickly. The ambiance was lively and the waiters were super friendly and came to check in on us and fill up water multiple times. We ordered: - Tea Leaf Salad - Delicious and loved the flavor, highly recommend this! - Sesame Chicken with Jasmine Rice on the side - The Sesame Chicken was pretty good - a bit too sweet for my liking, but a good combination with the rice. The rice is not included and will need to be purchased separately. The portion sizes are very generous and you can easily share the food and eat it family style. Overall, I had a good experience and will be back in the future to try other items on the menu! read more
My favorite Burmese restaurant! Stumbled on it on DoorDash. But it's too easy to miss if you're casually strolling on Murphy Ave. it's on the far end relative to where all the other restaurants are. Once you get there, there's both indoor/outdoor seating with casual ambiance. Service was good & faaast! Lychee Martini: 5+ stars!! If you like lychee this is it. It's not just faint flavoring but you can actually taste the fruit & comes with 3 pieces as garnish. The tea leaf salad & samosa soup won't disappoint you either - 5 stars! We tried Dessert Palata for the first time. It's basically Palata with ice cream and was pretty good. read more

We were a group of 8 for dinner, went without reservation on a weekday and got a table inside right away. The ambience was alright. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered a bunch of appetizers- Shan tofu, tea leaf salad, mango salad. The tofu was perfectly crispy and sauce was tasty. Tea leaf salad had good flavors with crispy lentils and peanuts. Mango salad was also good, but we liked tea leaf salad more. The server made/mixed the tea leaf salad at the table. Next we got two Samosa soups to share. It is a lentil soup with samosa, falafel and slaw toppings. Both the soup base and toppings were excellent. For mains, we got the crispy chicken and string beans which was both good. For dessert we shared a sweet black sticky rice which came with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was a good dessert and large enough to share for 4 people for small bites. Overall the service was quick and the food and drinks arrived quickly. read more
We really wanted to like this place more than we did. The restaurant is located on historic Murphy Ave. They have plenty of seating, with a majority of it outside on Murphy Ave. The service was helpful and attentive to our questions and requests. The food was good, but nothing that would want to make me go back. The Samosas app was the highlight of the meal. They were hot and flaky and had good flavor. The special dipping sauce was a nice addition to the plate. The Tofu Garlic Noodles were just okay. We had hoped that they would be more garlic tasting and have the smoke flavor on them. The Basil Lemongrass Chicken plate was just okay. We didn't taste basil or lemongrass in this plate. We had high hopes. They do have a spicy sauce that added some heat to the plates. The drinks were just okay. We ordered a Lychee Martini, which had good flavor and came with three lychees. The Espresso Martini was too sweet for our liking and couldn't taste any alcohol. I don't think we will be back anytime soon. read more
My friends and I went here on a Sunday night right before the dinner rush happened and was seated immediately. My friends decided to get palata with veggie curry dip to share. I wanted a tea leaf salad and got the Burma house noodles with chicken. My friends decided on the Burmese chicken curry, pineapple fried rice, and basil lemongrass veggie with tofu. The tea leaf salad was delicious. It had elements of crunchy, a little salty, and a bit of bitterness from the tea leaves. Definitely love the freshness factor and the server mixed it for us at the table. I cannot partake in the palata. The rest of my group said it was great especially with the curry. We were pretty excited when our main courses came. The house noodles were flavorful and with sweetness to it. I love the fresh veggies that came with it. Every bite was delicious. I did get to try my friend's food and the chicken curry had some good spice but wasn't my favorite. The veggies were delicious. One of my friends was not big on veggies but he really loved the veggies with tofu more than he liked the chicken curry. The service was great and they were attentive to all our needs. Delish food, wonderful service, and a great place with kids. We came with 2 other families (kids were ages 2-7). All their food was lovely and the staff were super kind and kid friendly. Sunday 1130a there was no wait and they quickly pulled together tables so our group of 12 could sit together. Food came out quickly and was SO good. Second time here and liked every dish. - Tea Lead Salad - Rainbow Salad (had a little kick even with no jalapeños ) - Burmese Swai Curry - Roti w/ curry - Garlic pork - Garlic chicken noodles - Chicken Biryani - Burmese noodles Everything except the rainbow salad was able to be zero spice. Burma Taste is one of the few Burmese restaurants in South Bay, came on a Saturday for lunch with friends. They had covered outdoor seating, and we were seated promptly. It was also nice to sit outdoors and see people walking around on Murphy Ave. The Food: Tea Lead Salad (4/5) - A good appetizer to start with, very refreshing and savory for a warm summer day! Burmese Chicken Curry (3.5/5) - The curry and chicken was good, it just didn't stand out to me. Not too spicy nor was it herby. Tasted like a solid, southeast asian curry. Pumpkin Stew Pork (4.3/5) - One of the better dishes, the sweetness of the pumpkin came through, and the pork was very tender and paired nicely with jasmine rice. Fish Chowder Noodle Soup (4.3/5) - Very yummy soup and noodles, loved how thick and flavorful the soup was without being overbearing. The toppings that came on the side also added good variety to the dish. Only wish there was a bit more fish in the dish itself. Food was good, would probably try out a few other dishes next time. TLDR: Burma Taste is one of my favorite restaurants in the downtown Sunnyvale area. While I don't have any other Burmese spot to compare this to, I can at least honestly say, I haven't walked away disappointed. Not every dish is a hit, but the overall flavors, quality, and experience makes it worth returning to. It's a great spot to eat with friends, family, party, and date night. It's also very vegetarian friendly, so you really can't go too wrong with choosing this spot. Food: 4/5 I've dined in and ordered take out from Burma Taste, and the quality is pretty much the same. If you've never had Burmese food, I'd say the dishes and flavors are similar to Indian food with hints of Chinese and Thai cuisines. Honestly, most likely the reason I like it so much. For the current economy, it's not too expensive for the quality and quantity of food. But, do expect a larger bill if you start ordering more than 3 entrees. - Crispy pork belly: my favorite small bite I've had, and it comes with a decent amount for the table to share - Samosas: nice starter, but come with only 4 pieces. - Palata: more ideal starter for a larger group and for those who enjoy pita/flatbread - Burmese curry: personally, we enjoyed this a lot and we let our rice soak in the sauce, but it was on the greasier side of most curries I've had - Fiery vegetables: not super spicy (keep in mind, I do have a pretty high tolerance for spicy food), but a nice variation to add to the meal - Garlic eggplant: sweeter than most eggplant dishes I've had, but not a horrible option Staff/Space: 5/5 The staff is very attentive and keep the wait time for food to come out to a minimum (both for dining in and takeout). There's a decent amount of space inside to accommodate various sized parties. There's plenty of parking usually around the area with the various parking lots and structures, but it does get crowded during the main dinner rush hours. read more

My family's favorite Burmese restaurant in the Bay area! We tried them in the very first week they opened and I don't remember a single time we walked out disappointed. On our last visit, we had the Black Pepper Swai, the Burmese Chow Mein, and the Burma House Noodles. The Black Pepper Swai is definitely our favorite item on the menu - the fish is soft and flaky and the sauce is outstanding. The Burma House Noodles are also a crowd favorite - soft, chewy, and tangy - almost reminiscent of a Pad Thai, but better. The Burmese Chow Mein is also good. We always ask for their House Hot sauce - it's legit spicy and gives a nice kick to the food; a good option if you dine with kids who can't hack spicy food, but you need that extra heat. The service is fast and friendly and the ambience is welcoming. Highly recommend! Burma Taste IMHO is definitely on the way to become a Sunnyvale downtown institution if they can maintain the quality and service! read more

We had friends visiting from Castro Valley that have not eaten Burmese food before, never had tea leaf salad so i brought them to Burma Taste & let them have a go. I suggested they did the ordering so they can order what they are comfortable trying for their inaugural Burmese meal. The GF & I have dined here before & liked the food, service & ambiance. PSA: if you are ordering from this restaurant through Relish or similar delivery service, you might want to lower your expectations. I ordered their $20 Tea Leaf Salad through my $15 work subsidy and paid the difference so I could get something nice and filling. But that's not what was delivered, imo. What I got is a takeout box filled with shredded romain, a sprinkling of the other incredients and a lot of the fermented chili dressing on the side. My heart sank when I opened the box. I wanted to give their salad a chance and try it before casting judgement because what was boxed up might have been more pleasant than what my eyes were seeing. But it was nothing special -- I am still wondering who they are getting to knowingly buy this salad for $19.99... read more

Nice ambiance in the outdoor seating area - great weather and seating arrangements were perfect last night. Ordered chicken biryani and eggplant garlic. Presentation was beautiful. Biryani flavors were subtle but wish they had been a little stronger; maybe I'm accustomed to the Indian biryani which has a stronger combination of spices. Eggplant garlic seemed a bit too sweet; had hoped it would be a little less spicy. Will give it one more try though. We went to a lovely lunch after our aunt's film screening shown at the AMC 12 Theatres 2-3 blocks away. Our aunt invited us to lunch at this lovely restaurant after the film screening and we sat outside, some 18 of us. We had lettuce wrap, string beans, tea leaf salad, red curry chicken, tofu garlic noodles. Everything was very tasty and I especially enjoyed the tea leaf salad! I really enjoyed my dinner at Burma Taste with a friend's birthday. I truly enjoyed the samosa salad - the dressing was amazing. The flavors and textures were amazing as was the spice level, and the herbs added a unique touch. We followed the salad with mango tofu and rice - equally tasty and flavorful. The mango tofu was on the sweet side but well spiced. At less than $50 for two, this is a great place for vegetarians in a great ambience. read more

I've never had Burmese cuisine before, but this looks delicious from the pictures and reviews. Yet sadly I have food allergies. Is there any sauce on the side or a way to over some dishes that don't have Monosodium glutamate/MSG? Any menu suggestion?
My daughter has several allergies and she seemed ok with the food. They are very accommodating and helped me with picking the right dishes.
