Red Bean Paste Crispy Rolls (vegan and SO GOOD)
    Grace X.

I have ordered work lunch from here many times and it is consistently good. Many labelled vegan options, and I suspect some of the vegetarian items are also vegan as well, just not appropriately labelled. I particularly enjoy the vegan fried rice, vegan potstickers, and vegan dumplings. Vegan potstickers and dumplings are the same filling. In the past I also really liked the red bean crispy rolls but they don't seem to be on the menu anymore.

quick and decent food here at dumpling depot! They have lots of dumplings and are pretty generous on the fillings. I like to come here with a bigger group so we can order alot of dishes and share everything pork dumplings - their top seller, it comes out steaming hot and the filling is juicy and fat, wrapper a bit on the thicker side pork soup dumpling - this was not bad, again wrapper is on the thicker side but i love the flavor of this, deep rich pork flavor, everything you need in a xlb beef fried rice - the beef came in big chunks which i loved! the big beef portions to rice was perfect to me, i love my protein chicken wings - i love the fried shallots, onions and chillies they cooked this in, this was probably my favorite dish. the seasoning was pungent but in a good way sweet and sour chicken- nice tangy pinapple sauce they incorporated, this is a must pair with white steamed rice!

Was in town and wanted some dumplings but didn't want to go to some busy hyped up place. This place had good reviews and was 2 minutes from my hotel. I got a menu and then ordered with the QR code. The food came pretty fast and it was good. Definitely satisfied the craving.

Basically a good go-to place to get dumplings here in Sunnyvale. If you're used to China prices it'll be hard to get used to these prices, but the dumplings are good, portions are decent sized, and there's often a buy one and get one free deal. Also probably a good idea to just buy pickup and pay cash. We consistently keep coming back.

shrimp chive dumplings-very flavorful and tasty

I wasn't blown away by this place, but I do think the best thing we ate here was the dumplings. We got shrimp chive dumplings which were very tasty. The chow mein was average, we got the shrimp version which had a good amount of shrimp. The green beans were disappointing, a little mushy and too much soy sauce. The green onion pancakes had the opposite problem, not enough flavor. Dining in on a Saturday night wasn't busy, but the place is super loud if there's any other groups, the high ceilings make the volume rise quickly if anyone else is talking or laughing loudly. The ordering system is on a QR code but it seems a little flawed, there were dishes in our cart already when we sat down, maybe from a prior group. I would recommend this place for takeout dumplings, but probably wouldn't dine in here again.

Parking here can be pretty difficult. We were luckily able to get a spot right as someone else was leaving. There's open seating, and a QR code to order. The hostess/server/ front of house speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. We had the xian cold noodles, fried rice, dandan noodles, and some dumplings. Everything tasted good. Pretty standard good food, comforting. Nothing really stood out. I would come back.

Called today to speak with Kenny (person that response to Yelp reviews) and the same rude lady answered the phone. Saying that I cannot speak to Kenny and to tell her what I want to communicate to him. I shared that my ask to please speak to Kenny only. She hung up. Look Dumpling Depot, your food is good but when the customer service fails to match it's a loss for repeat business for those who have been treated unprofessionally. Kenny please share when we can connect.

This is my second time visiting Dumpling Depot. After a local favorite closed down, we have been looking for a spot to get great dumplings and other noodle dishes. Our first time, we ordered combination chow mein, and a few of the pork and shrimp + chive dumplings and lets just say we were kind of let down. The chow mein was super bland, literally no flavor, that one time we got it. For context, that was a takeout order. Now, coming back a second time, we came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. About 8 of us were seated immediately despite it looking pretty crowded. They were able to rearrange a few tables to accommodate all of us in one row of tables. The restaurant itself didn't appear to be the most tidy, but if the food is good, there is little to complain. We ordered a variety of dumplings, xiao long bao, chili wontons, the Shanghai pan-fried soup dumplings, and the marinated beef pancake roll. The food came out in 15-20 minutes. I don't know what changed, but the food was pretty tasty. The dumplings were decent, but the main star of the lunch was the shanghai pan-fried soup dumplings. Those were crispy, juicy, and flavorful. I would definitely order those again! Another honorable mention were the chili oil wontons! Overall, I am a little perplexed by the difference in food quality between the two visits. For future visits, I look forward to eating their soup dumplings but maybe straying away from their noodle dishes.

Dumpling Depot is a fantastic find! The food here truly has that wonderful, homey, authentic flavor that warms the soul. Both the dumplings and the Beef Noodle Soup are excellent comfort food choices. Seating inside is a little bit small, so it's not great for super large groups, 8 is probably the max that could be seated. The absolute best dish is the Beef Pancake Roll--it's phenomenal and a total must-order! Also, don't miss the salt and pepper Tofu; it's a delightful dish with a perfectly fried texture and flavor. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you get.

Came here on a whim as it was convenient, was blown away by the food. It's a small unassuming restaurant but they use a chowbus ordering system which was smooth. Got a 3% discount. Four orders got us to 51$ + tax/tip which was 60$ total for 2/3 people. Overall would definitely come back

Food was not bad! They have a big menu on different types of dumplings. Love that they have the steamed ones so it's less oily and healthier. Flavor was pretty good. Will go back to try the other ones. Service was okay. Typical Chinese restaurant. The shop is a bit old in a corner of the mall. The area is very quiet. Plenty of parking outside. Great place for casual lunch

Not many parking spots in this plaza so you might have to park on the street. Once inside, we were seated pretty quickly. The temperature inside is pretty ambient, a little on the warm side. General tsos chicken - okay Bbq pork buns - pretty fatty, too doughy Pea shoots - delicious but expensive Shrimp dumplings - fishy flavor, tough skin Shrimp & pork dumplings - okay Pork & cabbage dumpling - okay Xlb - decent Combination chow mein - okay Marinated beef roll - delicious, nice and crispy, good beef flavor Pan fried soup dumpling - nice crust, good flavor Bacon & basil fried rice - too salty

Door dash review five stars is saying a bunch ordered pork shrimp wonton soup, bacon basil fried rice and crab meat pork soup dumplings via door dash. Honestly, when you order togo and it doesn't disappoint, I can only imagine a dine in experience. The fried rice is amazing and flavorful. Very satisfying. The wonton soup was above and beyond expectations. The crab and pork soup dumplings should fill any comfort food desire. I honestly have nothing negative to say about the first time experience via door dash of dumpling depot. I cannot wait to order again! Or done in for a more exemplar experience.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

The restaurant looked pretty much the same as I remembered. Arrived soon after they opened at 11, we were told to pick our table. The dim sum push cart came around very quickly after we were seated. We were not given the menu, just ordered dim sum items from the cart. We shared a total of 8 or 9 items; most of them were pretty tasty with decent ingredients. Shrimp dumpling - Large, the skin broke on some Siu-Mai - good / ok Tofu skin roll - one of our favorites Chicken feet - four large chicken feet, plump, tender and tasty. excellent Shrimp rice roll - good, portion is on the smaller side Steamed rice in lotus leaf - good Turnip cake - large pieces, texture is on the harder side Egg tart - very good Although I appreciate the dim sum push carts as it's more traditional but probably because the first batch of items sat for a while in the cart, they were not as hot as I'd like compared to 'cook to order' places. The restaurant filled up nicely around noon which is good to see, dishes from regular menu we saw on other tables looked interesting and served in good portions. Overall, we had an enjoyable lunch with good tasting food and friendly service, price is comparable to other restaurants in the area. Easy parking is a plus. Would like to come back and try the regular menu items.

We had our usual Char Siew bun (steamed), Soy sauce Chow Mein, Chinese donut rolled in soft noodles, pan fried chive dumplings, Lo Mai Kai (steamed rice in lotus leaves), stuffed peppers, and sesame balls. Food was generally good. I love the hot sauce they have at the table. We literally devoured it! I had forgotten how delicious the stuffed peppers were - they still taste great! Steamed Char Siew bun was a little disappointing - too much bun (bao) and not enough filling. The char siew was also rather tough and tasted rather bland. The chinese donut in steam noodles was good and the chow Mein was tasty. Sesame balls (my favorite dim sum dessert) was not too bad. could hav ebeen netter if it was warmer. Service was OK. I feel that the servers are sometimes rather grumpy - could be the reason why we stopped coming here. Prices are also a little steep compared to what you got - smaller portions.

I saw the reviews and at first I was skeptical because of the great reviews. Anything above 3.5 for dimsum places has me questioning whether it's legit or not, but this place was surprisingly great! Local people know where it's at! It seems like a small size family owned restaurant, not as big as the usual dimsum places like Koi Palace. There's a good number of tables inside, but not quite made for parties bigger than 6 because it could get squishy. Also, because it's a small shared plaza (mostly restaurants at the corner where Joyful is located at), there's a lot of shared seating area outside as well for people who just want takeout. And this was kindly advised for people who didn't want to wait for indoor seating. We came around 11AM for an early lunch right after hiking around Coyote Hills and there was a small wait already. For my party of 5, I'm guessing we waited for 15 mins or so. Not too long, just enough time to look through the menu and decide what to eat. We ended up getting: - Shiu Mai - Chicken Feet - Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Bean Curd Skin - Fun Gao Dumplings - Black Sesame Dumpling - Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce - Cucumber - Pan Fried Turnip Cakes - Fried Taro Puffs - Baked BBQ Pork Rolls - Pan Fried Pork Vegetable Buns - Pan Fried Turnip Cakes ...So quite a bit, but for a table of 5 this is a pretty reasonable amount. Of all the things I've tried I have to say my favorite few items were: 1) Fried Taro Puffs because filling to crust ratio is perfect. It had plenty of yummy filling. Because it's made fresh, it wasn't too oily either. It had a really nice, satisfying crunch when you bite into it. My mom, whose quite a picky eater had high praises for this one! 2) Baked BBQ Pork Rolls. The skin was flakey and it almost reminded me of a pineapple cake if it was made fresh. The skin is a little buttery and there's just enough BBQ Pork to give it a hint of sweetness. 3) Chicken Feet. It was saucy, but not too sweet. I can't pinpoint what I liked about it exactly, but sometimes chicken feet can have a weird smell or too much black bean in it. I think because this was made fresh, it was just enjoyable as is. 4) Chinese Broccoli because they're pretty generous with the amount and there isn't an overwhelming amount of oyster sauce mixed in. 5) Black Sesame Dumplings! This was a nice slightly sweet dessert to end to our meal. There was plenty of grounded peanuts and coconut shreds. The glutinous layer wasn't too sticky that it sticks to your teeth. Although I think they could have put in more black sesame filling, I think they made this pretty well and it was really reminiscent of some of the desserts I had in Taiwan. Service was really great. Although I think there's a little more foot traffic than they could handle, they handled the crowd fairly well and very politely. They sat people in tables in the same order that people came in (this doesn't always happen with bigger dim sum places). All the dim sum was freshly made and although I didn't describe all the dishes, I think they were all generally great. There's just some I'm more biased to and some I enjoyed more. I'm so glad that this was a great turnout for my family! We all really enjoyed Joyful Dimsum!

Besides the regular dim sum dishes, they also offer momos (Nepalese dumplings) on the menu! Super tasty and juicy with just the right amount of curry spice. The har gow were big and juicy! The custard buns were fluffy and delicious! The chicken feet were huge! The shrimp rice noodle roll also had a juicy shrimp and wrapped in a perfectly steamed, chewy yet soft, rice paper. Taro puffs were really crunchy with a moist filling. BBQ pork buns solid. The black sesame dumplings (mochi) were also good. The XLB were decent for a dim sum restaurant, although there was no soup to be found in the dumpling, and the skin was quite thick. The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.

We went with some friends and truly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. The food was…read moredelicious and prepared really well. We went on a night it was raining, so the restaurant wasn't crowded, and we weren't rushed away. Noise levels were great for an adult conversation at a reasonable volume. Service and attention was at the perfect level - not too much, but enough where our tea and water were never empty. As for the food we tried several dishes and enjoyed them all. * XLB: very juicy and tasty - I like the skin was a bit more substantial than DTF (I know, thinner is supposedly "better"), and the size was a lot more substantial than DTF (XLBs are way too small at DTF) * Pan fried XLB: This was perfectly executed and very tasty and juicy * Shanghai stir fried noodle: I didn't find this special, but it was just well cooked and executed and very tasty * Pork steamed dumplings: Hit the spot, nice and tasty - great sauce on the side that went with it (or maybe the sauce was for another dish) * Dry fried string beans: Deliciously cooked * Pork ribs: These were excellent, and I believe a special menu item - tasty, soft but with a bite, and nice and sticky with flavor The XLBs were the most "special", but we enjoyed how delicious the food was overall. This is a nice addition to Castro Street with plenty of parking all around.

We were struggling to find the place even with GPS. If you end up in the back packing lot area, go…read morethrough the alley and it'll be at the end. Ordered online. Quick and easy. We were greeted right away. Very friendly. Pan Fried Dumpling - 3/5 first place I tried that actually has a lot of soup in it! However, the soup was not good. It was really salty and didn't pair well with the rest. If you ignore the soup, it's really good. Braised Kaofu Gluten Salad - 5/5 so good! Finally found a place that has this. Braised Beef Noodle Soup - 2/5 not a huge fan. Probably just a preference thing.
