I think this is the 2nd or 3rd location in the South Bay... I'm not certain. Their website is not functional as of this review. I'm presuming this place is related to the one in Milpitas. Everything looks the same or extremely similar inside; form the entrance, to the giant screen on the back wall to the fish tanks with live seafood and the private dining rooms. I usually go to the Milpitas location with my extended family for big dinner celebrations. This year we had a bit of a change. I think this location was chosen probably because the Milpitas one was full. This is a new location, I didn't even know this place was open until I was told to come here for dinner. I reckon not a lot of people are aware... This location was empty compared to the Milpitas one, it wasn't even a 1/3 full when we came on a Friday evening! The parking lot was still jam packed, and parking was a bit of a challenge. It's not the biggest or parking lots. Although I believe this is the same chain, I found the food to be much better at this location. I didn't feel lethargic and sleepy right after I ate, I also felt everything tasted better as well. I can't stand some of the dishes at the Milpitas location. They taste off to me. My family members seem to agree or have the same consensus as well. I'd rather return to this location for future events...

Revisited Grand Dynasty and they are still solid option for push cart dim sum. I do think the quality is a little less consistent than when they first opened, but the food is still generally good, service is attentive, and parking is easy with a huge shared lot. Went on a Sunday before 11 AM and the restaurant was fairly empty, but by the time we left just before noon, there was a fairly long queue out the door. The crystal dumpling skin (the kind on the har gow or scallop shrimp dumplings) were unfortunately much thicker this time around and a bit overcooked, which made them a mushy and not very structurally sound with the fillings falling out. The fried items (fried glutinous dumplings and crispy taro puffs) were actually delightfully fresh and not greasy at all. Chicken feet and egg tarts are always a solid option here as well. TLDR; not the kind of dim sum that will blow your socks off, but it's a classic neighborhood spot that's still a great option.

Very grand, very nice. Some hits, some misses. Spareribs and chicken feet were surprisingly bland, and the XO rice rolls were super salty. The $17 green beans were surprisingly skimpy. Overall, nothing was standout amazing, but nothing was bad. Just your average dim sum in a beautiful renovated setting.

It is a nice restaurant for birthday celebrations. The service was good. The food was generally tasty. The Peking duck was mainly skin not much meat somehow... we should have asked to pack home the sauce and the cucumber/green onion that we didn't finished. The crispy pork belly had good and crispy top but the meat was a bit dry. Veggies were good. 18% of service charge was on the bill already. The staff was nicely mentioned about it to us when we were making payment.

The food was decent, but there was no service at all. We came around 1115am on Sat and got seated quickly within 5 mins. However, It took a while to get our waitress to come and order food. We kept waving at them, but all of them just kept saying we gotta get this other person, basically just pointing at each other 4-5 times. The carts also didnt come very often and not sure if it was because we were seated near the side. They also automatically added 18% to the bill without saying anything about it, which was annoying since there was no service at all. Overall, it was a meh experience, will try other places before coming back

First and foremost, Esmond, the event manager, was amazing to work with. Before we went to Grand Dynasty, I read a lot of reviews for Grand Dynasty specifically for weddings, and the positive feedback about Esmond was 100% true. We felt so taken care of and each time we showed up to Grand Dynasty regarding questions during the wedding preparation, Esmond was present, patient, and always pleasant to work with. We did not feel pressured in any way to make any specific decisions. Weddings are incredibly chaotic. In fact, we forgot to even taste our cake after cutting it because we were behind schedule and had to move along in our program. Though the cake was not cut and served to guests, which was supposed to be done (cake cut fee per table), but luckily we saw family the next day that we could share and distribute the cake to. That would be my only concern to have wasted the wedding cake because it wasn't served. But we could have also communicated if we had remembered. Things happen, but regardless we had a wonderful experience. We chose Grand Dynasty specifically because of the large screen, which we incorporated as a backdrop. We worked with another company called TDE Weddings for decorations, but the restaurant itself already has beautiful lighting, chandeliers, red and gold accents which we incorporated into our theme. They also had a small bridal closet for dress changes where we were able to store our reception items/wedding favors/name cards/seating chart. We were also able to drop it off the day before so there was no need to worry about it on the wedding day. We did choose to book the full banquet hall. Logistics-wise for set-up, we chose to section off the first third for the restaurant with a wall partition which worked perfectly to make the bar area a cocktail area. Our guests loved the dim sum which we ordered as appetizers before the main course, which was incredibly bountiful. Genuinely, our guests kept talking about how good the food was (we decided to go with the Perfect Match banquet menu). Also, we were eating our leftovers days after and it was delicious. We were able to use the screen for personalized slideshows and have a wedding that felt like the most perfect representation of us. It has been over a week since our wedding and we have no regrets. It is definitely one of the most memorable evenings because our guests enjoyed every bit of it but also because we enjoyed every bit of it. Wherever and however you choose to have your wedding, don't forget to have fun! I highly recommend Grand Dynasty and I would most definitely plan future events (not just weddings) here!

Love the decor here. High ceiling, many chandeliers, bright lighting feels more like an experience than going in for dinner. Got many dishes, but some of the highlights were the Peking duck, smoked sea bass and scallops. If I were to compare it to other Chinese banquet type restaurants, this would definitely be above average in atmosphere, service, food and price. I thought the food was just a little better in a slight way than what I normally get and other restaurants. Overall, I would come back for a special occasion or family dinner here.

Visited for Chinese New Year dinner with family and had a great dinner! We were seated promptly in a clean and nice ballroom style dining room and ordered from a set of New Years dishes. Everything came out quickly and service was fast even though there were hundreds of other people dining. Our favorite was the stir fried steak! Overall very authentic Cantonese restaurant that also functions as a banquet!

We went to Grand Dynasty for dinner and dim sum before . Tonight we came here for an events with 300 people for the dinner banquet. It is nicely decorated with pretty flowers wall paper , high ceilings and crystal glass chandeliers. Service is great , especially to handle all the hot dishes in such a large group. A stage was set up for the presentation. Food is 3 out of 5 in taste but the presentation was great . The sautéed sirlon cubes dish was the best tasting dish of the night . This restaurant is good for wedding and big parties .

I came here one evening for dinner with family. It is the first time I've formally had Cantonese food in the South Bay. Grand Dynasty did not disappoint, my relatives said this is their favorite Cantonese restaurant as the chefs who cook the food make delicious dishes. After coming here, I agree with them. Everything we ordered was very tasty and seasoned perfectly. We ordered a variety of dishes and they also have specials for the day that they share with you when you arrive. We ordered the chef special fried rice, pan fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop, sautéed mixed vegetables and lotus root, beef brisket with enoki mushroom, hand roasted squab and a steamed clam/abalone with vermicelli. All the dishes were so good, but my favorite was their fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop. It was the first time I've had fried vermicelli which reminded me of crispy rice. It went nicely with the filling inside the noodles - the steak and scallops were cooked perfectly. I also really enjoyed their chef fried rice, with various dried seafood mixed in, but what is special is the strands of eggs cooked in the fried rice. Very good and flavorful. They also have dim sum in the morning, so will come here to try it in the future. Overall, will come back here again.

I think they have the best dim sum here in South Bay, but it is pricey. $70 for 2 people and they add 18% gratuity automatically. Originally they wanted to seat us all the way hidden in the back. We asked for seating in the front and the service was so good! I do recommend Dynasty but come here knowing it's pricey.

This is my first time dining at Grand Dynasty. It is located in the Orchard Farms Shopping Center. There is plenty of parking in this center. The place is so spacious and huge. They also have side rooms for parties of 25+. We were in the main dining area as we were here for a wedding reception. Decorations were nice and fancy. They do offer a small bar area. Two separate multi-user men & women restrooms. Live Seafood Tanks. The food was Cantonese cuisine and delicious!

As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx

Dim Sum is only lunch time. And Cart is only weekend.

Can you bring your own cake to be served?

    You have to ask them.

What hours do they serve dim sum?

Lunchtime; so from open to about 2 or 3 pm

Can I order off the normal menu for dinner this weekend or do I have to order off the Chinese New Year menus?

Do they serve dim sum with a cart on weekend brunch?

    YES!

Is this the same Dynasty that was in Valco?

Yes, now expanded and a much nicer ballroom facility!

Do you serve dim sum at night?

They have very limited dim sum dishes available during dinner service: har gaw, siu mai. You can ask them when you place your order. The dinner portion is 6 pieces per order.

    What is the parking situation?

no problem, plenty of parking, large lot

Is it same as Dynasty in Vietnam town?

    Definitely not

Are the dim sum items available at dinner times?

Dim sum is not available at dinner time.

Do you guys host rehearsal dinners?

They have the space and private rooms for rehearsals, but when I went there it was considered to be a 'soft opening' so they are still working out their kinks. Service was slow but the food was very good.

Is it related to the original Dynasty in Cupertino?

    Yes it is the replacement.

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

The 9 of us had the prefix $688 menu. There was a lot of food. Many other people had the same dinner. The food was fresh and piping hot. I liked the combination fried rice. It was loaded and had some crunchy tidbits on top. They was also a steak dish that came with shrimp that was delicious. It was also nice to be able to shop after dinner as there is a TJ Maxx Home goods right next door.

They also have the carts that go around that you can directly pick from after ordering your original order off of the paper. The food comes out pretty fast, even though they're super busy. Har Gow is my favorite so those were pretty good, the wrapper was not too thick 4/5, same with the siu mai. The beef chow fun was pretty greasy but that's pretty typical with this dish, the color was pretty nice on the noodles too 4/5. They offer Jasmine hot tea or chrysanthemum hot tea, and water when requested. Again pretty typical Dim Sum experience, nothing too extravagant or out of the ordinary, and a bit pricey. I would go here again with my family, probably not first choice though

The dim sum carts have large variety and are fresh and fast, but the set menu helps alleviate the chaos and the decision of having to pick what to get haha. The food gets delivered fast and is fresh. The set menu has a large variety of different foods, from meat like duck and sweet / sour chicken, to veggies like mushroom and snap peas, to seafood like fish and lobster and scallops, as well as soup and fried rice. The food is served in waves, so there's always a new dish on the table every 5-10 minutes. The portions are massive! We always have plenty of leftovers to last us the rest of the weekend. Everything is tasty and seasoned well. My personal favs are the fried pumpkin, lobster noodles, and scallops, although all dishes were hits. Will definitely be back for the next group gathering!

Some notes - The steamed dumpling skins tended to stick to each other and break while picking them up. The spare ribs were tender but a little bland. Needed black beans The shui mai are good but a little too fluffy which makes me think they have a lot of fat in them. The steamed rice rolls were nice. The gai lan was a bit fibrous and tough. The stir fried snow pea shoots with bean curd skin was a little bland. The durian puffs were good!
