We had an amazing experience. This place is huge, beautifully decorated, clean bathrooms, attendants and security visible throughout. So many private rooms to choose from with varying sizes. Reserved special birthday party in one of their rooms with amazing banquet style menu. Every dish was delicious and the servers were super attentive and responsive. Came here last night for a Chinese wedding banquet. We were seated in the ballroom near the back of the restaurant. The restaurant is very big and nicely decorated. Another huge wedding was going on in the main ballroom so it was a bit noisy and crowded. The food was standard Chinese wedding banquet food. Some dishes were better than others. I liked the appetizer dish, lobster with clear noodles, stir-fried beef and shrimp, the soup, abalone with mushroom, vegetables and noodles. The Peking duck and fish weren't very good last night. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza that has Safeway and some other stores. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look too grand. But, once you are inside, it's very nice. Grand Dynasty has been my go to spot for the last few years, I was usually not a dim sum fan growing up, as I was so accustomed to the one at Grand Century mall called "Dynasty Seafood" because of that I was never really craving or into wanting dim sum, but I do enjoy the dinner menu's usually when there is an event of sort with the crab soup and the duck with bao. So as covid hit, dim sum places stopped using carts to hand out food, and when I heard Grand Dynasty was still using carts for the food I was so excited to try out. Every food item is HOT and FRESH, everything is always so delicious, from the siu mai, pork footbal, fried taro ball, crispy shrimp balls, everything!!! Their space is huge, but to not be underestimated that they do get packed, so go right at opening or before they close mid day. Everything looks the same or extremely similar inside; form the entrance, to the giant screen on the back wall to the fish tanks with live seafood and the private dining rooms. I usually go to the Milpitas location with my extended family for big dinner celebrations. This year we had a bit of a change. I think this location was chosen probably because the Milpitas one was full. This is a new location, I didn't even know this place was open until I was told to come here for dinner. I reckon not a lot of people are aware... This location was empty compared to the Milpitas one, it wasn't even a 1/3 full when we came on a Friday evening! The parking lot was still jam packed, and parking was a bit of a challenge. It's not the biggest or parking lots. Although I believe this is the same chain, I found the food to be much better at this location. I didn't feel lethargic and sleepy right after I ate, I also felt everything tasted better as well. I can't stand some of the dishes at the Milpitas location. They taste off to me. My family members seem to agree or have the same consensus as well. Fine dining, Chinese style. The exterior of the building is unassuming, you would not guess the beauty and atmosphere and experience that awaits you on the inside! This is our family's new celebration restaurant. You know, the place you go to when out of town guests come and you want to treat them. The place you go to to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. The first time we came was for dim sum, which was soo good! I like that they still do carts and you get to experience the steam that tells you it's fresh. The interior design is beautiful, refined elegances, with marble flooring, chandeliers above, bright lighting, big screens where appropriate, numerous private rooms and details even in the bathrooms. It is a banqueting venue with ample space for weddings and large events. Our family particularly love their large round tables that can accommodate up to 12, as sometimes it's hard to eat all together at 1 table. When we were there for Chinese New Year celebration, they had a special menu with different selections to choose from. There was also a large party going on, where they were able to partition off the main space for privacy. Also there was a Tesla test driving promotion out front. Definitely good business to partner with other services like that, knowing their clientele. Overall, highly recommend this beautiful restaurant. Revisited Grand Dynasty and they are still solid option for push cart dim sum. I do think the quality is a little less consistent than when they first opened, but the food is still generally good, service is attentive, and parking is easy with a huge shared lot. Went on a Sunday before 11 AM and the restaurant was fairly empty, but by the time we left just before noon, there was a fairly long queue out the door. The crystal dumpling skin (the kind on the har gow or scallop shrimp dumplings) were unfortunately much thicker this time around and a bit overcooked, which made them a mushy and not very structurally sound with the fillings falling out. The fried items (fried glutinous dumplings and crispy taro puffs) were actually delightfully fresh and not greasy at all. Chicken feet and egg tarts are always a solid option here as well. We kept waving at them, but all of them just kept saying we gotta get this other person, basically just pointing at each other 4-5 times. First and foremost, Esmond, the event manager, was amazing to work with. Before we went to Grand Dynasty, I read a lot of reviews for Grand Dynasty specifically for weddings, and the positive feedback about Esmond was 100% true. We felt so taken care of and each time we showed up to Grand Dynasty regarding questions during the wedding preparation, Esmond was present, patient, and always pleasant to work with. We did not feel pressured in any way to make any specific decisions. Weddings are incredibly chaotic. In fact, we forgot to even taste our cake after cutting it because we were behind schedule and had to move along in our program. Though the cake was not cut and served to guests, which was supposed to be done (cake cut fee per table), but luckily we saw family the next day that we could share and distribute the cake to. That would be my only concern to have wasted the wedding cake because it wasn't served. But we could have also communicated if we had remembered. Things happen, but regardless we had a wonderful experience. We chose Grand Dynasty specifically because of the large screen, which we incorporated as a backdrop. We worked with another company called TDE Weddings for decorations, but the restaurant itself already has beautiful lighting, chandeliers, red and gold accents which we incorporated into our theme. They also had a small bridal closet for dress changes where we were able to store our reception items/wedding favors/name cards/seating chart. We were also able to drop it off the day before so there was no need to worry about it on the wedding day. We did choose to book the full banquet hall. Logistics-wise for set-up, we chose to section off the first third for the restaurant with a wall partition which worked perfectly to make the bar area a cocktail area. Our guests loved the dim sum which we ordered as appetizers before the main course, which was incredibly bountiful. Genuinely, our guests kept talking about how good the food was (we decided to go with the Perfect Match banquet menu). Also, we were eating our leftovers days after and it was delicious. We were able to use the screen for personalized slideshows and have a wedding that felt like the most perfect representation of us. It has been over a week since our wedding and we have no regrets. It is definitely one of the most memorable evenings because our guests enjoyed every bit of it but also because we enjoyed every bit of it. I came here one evening for dinner with family. It is the first time I've formally had Cantonese food in the South Bay. Grand Dynasty did not disappoint, my relatives said this is their favorite Cantonese restaurant as the chefs who cook the food make delicious dishes. After coming here, I agree with them. Everything we ordered was very tasty and seasoned perfectly. We ordered a variety of dishes and they also have specials for the day that they share with you when you arrive. We ordered the chef special fried rice, pan fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop, sautéed mixed vegetables and lotus root, beef brisket with enoki mushroom, hand roasted squab and a steamed clam/abalone with vermicelli. All the dishes were so good, but my favorite was their fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop. It was the first time I've had fried vermicelli which reminded me of crispy rice. It went nicely with the filling inside the noodles - the steak and scallops were cooked perfectly. I also really enjoyed their chef fried rice, with various dried seafood mixed in, but what is special is the strands of eggs cooked in the fried rice. Very good and flavorful. I'd give this place 3.7 stars but rounding up. We had a variety of dim sum dishes and they were mostly very good, though not exceptional. The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. This was my second visit to Grand Dynasty Seafood for dim sum. My first visit, about a year ago, was just average, but this time the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered a variety of dishes, including chicken sticky rice, BBQ pork buns, shrimp egg rolls, swan-shaped durian puffs, deep-fried sesame balls, roast duck, siu mai, steamed pork ribs, and congee with century-old egg and pork. Let's start with the positives. The roast duck was surprisingly good. It was flavorful, well-seasoned, and tasted like it had been freshly prepared that day. The deep-fried sesame balls were crispy and delicious, and the egg rolls were generously filled with shrimp. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell well short. The steamed pork ribs were among the worst I've ever had--tough, lacking uniformity, lacking flavor, and simply not enjoyable. The swan-shaped durian puffs looked attractive, but they were virtually tasteless. Mind you it cost $15.68 for three pieces. The congee with century egg and pork was also disappointing, containing only microscopic pieces of century egg when it's supposed to be one of the featured/star ingredients. The dining experience ended on an odd note. We paid with cash, and the cashier counted every bill in front of us at our table before taking it away. While there's nothing wrong with verifying a cash payment, the way it was done felt unnecessary, tacky, and unprofessional. We have never ever witnessed something like this and were annoyed. Overall, this visit was a letdown. Aside from the duck, sesame balls, and egg rolls, the food did not meet expectations, and the service left a poor final impression. We won't be returning. This place was poppin' on a Saturday after the holidays! Parking is tricky right in front of the storefront, but if you go around the lot closer to the street near Safeway or even the back, you'll have a much better time. The restaurant was very lively, full of excited patrons and hungry crowds. Having a room came in so clutch because it was absolute chaos in the main dining room. We later found out there was a wedding taking place at the restaurant since we could hear drums for either lion or dragon dancing (couldn't see so not too sure!). Food was plentiiiiiful. We were stuffed by the third of fourth plate and we had so many more plates coming. The beef teriyaki was easily my fav, followed by the dan tats for dessert; honorable mention for the chow mein-as simple as it was, it was solid and an appropriate palette cleanser given all the other delicious flavors from our other dishes. Our friends invited us to our choice of either a dim sum lunch or dinner at Grand Dynasty, their favorite local Chinese restaurant. We opted for dinner, and we met at opening time on Tuesday evening. The restaurant is huge with multiple dining rooms. The main dining room was the only one open when we were there and then, only the front half. The tables are spaced well apart so there's plenty of room to walk. The four of us were given a table set for six. Because we sat close to each other, we only took up 3/4 of the table. We had pre-ordered a Fried Whole Sticky Rice Stuffed Chicken and needed to fill in the rest of our menu. The staff was patient with us and offered suggestions. Fried Whole Sticky Rice Stuffed Chicken - 5 - This was our favorite dish of the evening. Unlike other versions that we've had, this one was not as hard fried which actually made it more pleasant to eat. The rice was flavorful enough that I never used the sauce that came with the dish. Salt & Pepper Prawns - 4 - The texture was a little different in that the shell was not as crispy as we had expected. While the peppers were present, they didn't really add much flavor to the dish. The salt was also very subtle. Green Beans and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce - 4 - Second favorite dish of the evening. Good flavors and textures. Steak Cubes in Teriyaki Sauce - 4 - The steak cubes were very tender. The teriyaki sauce had a strong flavor but did not taste like teriyaki sauce to either of us. We found the American broccoli to be kind of odd as steak cubes are more often served with bok choy, which would have been preferred. At the end of our meal, we were served two desserts, probably because our friends were regulars. We got bowls of sweet red bean soup and plates of mango pudding. The menu is pretty and loaded with pictures of their offerings. We'll probably be back to try some other flavors some time down the road. We had asked for ice water for all four of us and were served cold water. When mine was nearly empty, I asked for iced water with an emphasis on ice. The young lady brought me a tall glass of ice, which I offered to share around the table, and a carafe of cold water. She and the servers also kept our tea pot filled. I don't understand why our table didn't have a lazy Susan in the center. These are common in many Chinese restaurants with round tables because it makes it easier for each diner to be able to get to each item without the passing around of dishes. While we only had four dishes, it was a pain to continually stop eating to pass dishes around. In one of my past jobs, I was part of the safety team and trained in assessing ergo practices in an effort to reduce injuries. I give Grand Dynasty kudos for the spaciousness of their dining room and allowing staff to use carts to bring out the dishes of food instead of having to hand carry them. From the very beginning, the staff was extremely accommodating and incredibly attentive - I can't stress that enough! Whether it was refilling water, clearing plates, or swapping dishes, someone was always there without us needing to ask. It truly made the experience smooth and stress-free. We ordered the Longevity Banquet Package ($868) and substituted the "Long Live E-Fu Noodle" with the "Sun Dried Scallop Seafood Combination Egg White Fried Rice." We also had two vegetarian guests, and the staff kindly prepared separate vegetarian-friendly dishes that were beautifully presented without drawing attention or making anyone feel singled out. We also requested to use the two TVs in the room to showcase a short video, and the team was kind enough to help with the technical setup. Here's what we ordered: Roasted Pork Belly BBQ Combination Platter - 9/10 A guest favorite! The pork belly was perfectly crisp. The baby octopus was a bit sweet for everyone's taste. Dried Scallop Bird's Nest Soup with Bamboo Pith - 10/10 Rich, flavorful, and comforting. Red vinegar and white pepper were provided on the side. Sautéed Prawn & Scallop in Black Truffle Sauce - 10/10 This was devoured quickly. Even our more traditional guests who aren't used to truffle loved it. It was not overpowering at all. Braised #8 Whole Abalone and Shiitake Mushroom with Emerald Greens - 10/10 One of the standout dishes. This was cleared instantly by our guests. Steamed Maine Lobsters & Vermicelli in Garlic Sauce - 9/10 We were pleasantly surprised to receive two whole lobsters. The presentation was beautiful and stayed true to the anatomy of the lobster. Some cuts were a bit tricky to eat, which comes down to the chef's prep technique. Peking Duck with Steamed Buns - 9/10 A classic! Loved the sauce and accompaniments. We just wished there was a more generous serving of cucumbers and green onions. Some duck cuts were inconsistent in size compared to top-tier spots in SoCal. Braised Pea Sprouts with Fresh Crab Meat - 9/10 Delicious and well-cooked, though I didn't notice much actual crab meat in the dish. Steamed Fresh Catch of the Day - 9/10 Perfectly steamed. The fish was flaky and tender. Could've used a bit more sauce to better complement the thickness of the fish cuts. Sun Dried Scallop Seafood Combination Egg White Fried Rice - 10/10 Amazing substitute dish. I'd come back just for this dish. Dessert - Red Bean Soup - 9/10 A comforting, traditional end to the meal. Not overly sweet, just right. Overall, this was a flawless experience from beginning to end, and we're so happy we chose this venue for our celebration.
