My first time really trying Burmese food and I had a wonderful experience here! The place is decorated in an upscale, tasteful, and groovy ambience. We came for lunch on a weekday with a reservation - I'd highly recommend making this ahead of time, otherwise, only bar seating was available. Tea leaf salad (4/5) - I liked the taste of this one but do wish there were a few more greens. But it's fresh, nutty, and savory. Roti platah (5/5) - I love love love roti, and this was fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Something we didn't know, however, was the dip (we got truffle) was $7 extra! Coconut chicken curry (4/5) - this was good, but definitely on the heavy side when it comes to curries. Mango chicken (5/5) - a must try, and the star of the show for me. This dish was on the sweeter side, but tasted SO good and tropical when paired with the coconut rice (a MUST try). I'd be back for the mango chicken and the coconut rice for sure! We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The decor is quite pleasant and the tables are not packed in, which is very nice. The hosts and servers are very, very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent! It was a tad pricey I would say but perhaps that's because of the location. We tried the tea leaf salad - yum! Maybe could have had a little more lemon juice but was really very good. The samosas were good - reminded me more of the Indian style of samosas rather than the kind I have had at other Burmese places. The beef kebab and dry fried green beans were soooooo good I wanted to lick the serving dishes. Our friends ordered the banana dessert, which I didn't try because they brought out a chocolate pot-de-crème type of thing that's not on the menu but they bring it out for birthdays. This restaurant is absolutely stunning inside and has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere despite feeling very modern and chic. We sat at the bar and had some incredible entrées, including probably the best fried rice I've ever tasted. They have excellent cocktails and an amazingly diverse menu. My favorite was the Roti Platha ($10) and an extra charge for the chicken curry dipping sauce and the Rainbow Spring Roll ($14) The Chilean Seabass (Inle Fisherman - $36) was a little lacking in flavor. We could have skipped the Garlic Noodles ($23), which tasted a bit funny - a bit sweet? I haven't tried this restaurant yet, but so far I have received very good service from this place. I found out about it through their website when I was looking at it to find out more about where I could get their tea leaf salad dressing. I was hoping to get the traditional and spicy version of their sauce because I have only found the vegan version in stores. When I arrived though, they only had the packaged vegan version on hand, so they offered to hand-pack the traditional dressing they had at the restaurant to make a kit for me. I put in an order for the spicy version, and I decided to take their hand-packed traditional version to go. If you come here to buy their Tea Leaf Salad Dressing Kit, this is the advice that they gave me: call ahead to see what they have available, and if they don't have any, place a request, and it should arrive by the following Friday. The sauce at the restaurant is cheaper than what grocery stores that carry the product charge, so it's definitely worth the detour. Came to Burma Love and enjoyed the meal. Of course we started with some cocktails and of course we went with the holiday specials. Both were good, but the Butter Moon was definitely better than the Emerald Heart. For an appetizer we decided to go with the Roti Platha. Personally, I thought the curry was too salty and a bit heavy on the spices. Personal preference, I like my chicken curry dips to be a little more coconut forward. For mains, we shared the Mohinga and the Pork Belly. Both of these were really tasty! The Mohinga had a good amount of noodles and I really enjoyed the play on textures and flavors everywhere. Coconut chicken curry 4.5/5: the curry was so creamy and tasty! It had a slight refreshing lemongrass taste, with plenty of chicken pieces. My kids took me here for my bday celebration and first of all - the staff was SO NICE and friendly. I believe it was the manager that came by to wish me a happy birthday! The portions are HUGE - the coconut chicken curry had a little sweetness to it - not spicy - with little potatoes and tender chicken. But that SAUCE!! I ended up getting extra coconut rice to go with my leftover curry and am looking forward to eating it again!! The garlic noodles - WOW - the noodle texture was perfect and I realized after - they used EGG noodles! Really took it to the next level in texture and I love that they put the spicy sauce on the side so those who like the extra spicy can add to their noodles! Comes with fresh cut little cucumbers so you get a bit of crunch with the chewiness of the noodles! SO GOOD!! And then there's the eggplant. We all LOVE eggplant and while this was a bit spicy (but you can pick out the red chili peppers out) - the eggplant itself was cooked PERFECTLY. Chunks that were meaty and flavorful - didn't fall apart - still had the bite AND the flavors! Amazing and perfect for eggplant lovers... And because it was my bday - i got a complimentary chocolate cake with a candle. That cake was SO tender and chocolately - it was very good and just the right amount for us all to take a bite BECAUSE we still ordered the coconut pandan cake! HIGHLY recommend. The texture was perfect and flavors on point! Not too sweet and you can taste the pandan! LOVE Burma Love and this is definitely our go to for Burmese food! Came for a quick lunch and was wildly underwhelmed. We ordered the friend chicken and garlic noodles with shrimp to share. The food was tasty, except for the fact that the noodles came with chicken instead of shrimp. This leads me to what made the experience meh. We sat at the bar and the bartender could not have been bothered. They barely greeted us, when we opted for regular water he brought the glasses but didn't give us water until we asked once our food arrived, and when the noodles came with chicken instead of shrimp, I confirmed that I had ordered shrimp to which he said, "oh yea, I guess I out chicken" and he just stared at me. At that point I just left it as is and ate the food that was out in front of me. We asked for the check and again, just no sense of urgency or hospitality. I have been to quite a few Burmese restaurants in San Francisco and was really surprised to see one closer to the South Bay! I happened to stumble upon it with my friend and remembered loving the one in San Francisco so we decided to give this location a shot as well. The inside of the restaurant was very welcoming and clean. We had arrived around brunch time and found out that they only had the brunch menu at this location, which was really neat. We were immediately seated. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We ended up ordering the Shakshuka, B.F.C Palaffle, Laphet Tea Lead Salad and iced Burmese milk tea. When I think back to the my first time trying Burma Superstar, it's ridiculously impressive how far they've come. From their singular, original location on Clement Street in SF, through various iterations of offshoots and expansions, their family tree of restaurants has now grown into the double digits under a growing number of names. Now, after spreading across the entirety of SF, as well as into the East Bay, it's awesome to see that they're now expanding their footprint towards the South Bay! Compared to the homely decor and cozy vibes of the original Burma Superstar, the newest Burma Love is adorned with a far trendier concept that's even fitted with a fully stocked bar. Thankfully, though, they're still mostly the same where it matters the most - the menu. Having already taken a peek at it online before coming here, we weren't surprised to see that the lineup of the lunch menu is slightly different and narrower than the dinner menu. However, there was still plenty for us to choose from and most of their dishes appear on both, including staples like their Tea Leaf Salad, Mohinga, Samosa Soup, and the Burmese Fried Chicken friends had recommended to me! -- THE LITCHI EXPRESS - Hangar One Rose Vodka, St. Germaine, Lemon Juice, Aquafaba, Lychee-Dragonfruit & Rosewater Syrup, Lychee Fruit, Rose Crystals...$18 I don't usually go for martinis, but this one was pretty tasty. The overall flavors were pretty balanced - the pour of vodka in this was just right, the lychee was central but not overly intense, and I liked how the lemon juice added just a bit of acidity to cut through everything. -- FIERY MANGO - Thai Chili Infused Tequila Blanco, Mango Cordial, Cointreau and Lime Finished with a Tajin Rim...$17 Much like the first time I ever tried a mangonada, this initially seemed just okay, but it grew on me as I kept going. The lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh and I loved how the nuts, seeds, and garlic chips added some crunch. The fermented tea leaves were the star, though - just oh so delicious! -- MOHINGA - Fish Chowder, Garlic, Ginger, Lemongrass, Cilantro, Shallots, Soft Boiled Egg, and Pea Chip...$23 The inverse of the Tea Leaf Salad - not only did this look better than the one at Burma Superstar, but it tasted better, too. While the flavors in the soup were the same (rich and hearty), serving most of the components separately made a huge difference, as they all stayed fresher and didn't get soggy. -- SHAN CURRY NOODLES - Rice Noodles, Chicken Tomato Curry, Soft-Boiled Pasture Egg, Ground Peanuts, Pickled Mustard Greens, Sweet Soy, and Chili Crunch...$25 Honestly, I was a little skeptical of this one, but this actually wasn't bad. The chicken was very moist and the sauce had a nice punch, albeit a little heavy on tomato. As for the noodles, there was a good amount of it, but I wish it had more of a chewy bite to it. -- B.F.C. - Burmese Fried Chicken, Sesame Seeds, Sweet Heat...$26 My friend felt like this was a bit Americanized, but I'm not going to lie - I thought this was great! The chicken was still slightly crispy despite the sauce on it and I liked how there was just a touch of heat. Plus, the portion was HUGE! In fact, it was so generous, we couldn't even get close to finish this. -- CHILI-GARLIC PRAWNS - Onions, Arbol Chili, Jalapenos, Thai Basil, Koji Rice, Garlic Chips...$27 While there wasn't anything "bad" about this dish, it was easily my least favorite dish of our meal. The prawns were all plump and meaty, and I liked the garlic chips, but the sauce was underwhelming (not much chili flavor or spice). In addition to the food, service here was pretty spot on, as well. The servers were friendly and responsive, checking on us often to refill our waters and to see if we needed anything. Plus, one of them even paused to make sure we got any photos we wanted of the Tea Leaf Salad before he started to mix it. Besides how awesome it is to see Burma Superstar's success lead to another outpost in their family of restaurants, the other thing I like about this particular Burma Love is their Set Lunch Menu. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, we were given the menu, water and after giving us time to choose, we ordered for our drinks and appetizers, we had shrimps and tea leaves salad. I came here for a Work Holiday Lunch and while I've had Burmese food before I was a little optimistic. Walking inside I was blown away by how beautiful the restaurant is, the decor is just breathtaking. The staff here is very friendly and professional, they quickly greet you as soon as you walk in, make sure to get you a table in a timely manner and almost immediately a server was there to bring water and take our drink orders. Top notch customer service! The menu wasn't too big but there were a nice variety of items to choose from. Since there were about 7-8 of us we decided to order a bunch of appetizers and small plates to start. We ordered the Laphet Tea Leaf Salad, Roti Platha, Rainbow Spring Roll, Crispy Calamari, Potato Samusas, Dry Fried String Beans and Jasmine Rice. All of this alone could have been the whole meal. My favorites were the potato samusas which were so good. They were cooked nicely, crispy on the outside and the curry potato and veggie filling was so full of flavor. The dry fried strings beans were perfect, they had a nice crisp to them and had a ton of garlic flavor. I also enjoyed the roti platha, the roti was nice and chewy and the curry went perfectly with it. For my main course I went with the Bone-In Short Rib Curry. This came with roasted leeks, fingerling potatoes, cipollini onions and thumbelina carrot. The presentation for this short rib was amazing, it was served alongside the bone. The meat was divine, it was melt in your mouth tender. I have never had short rib that was that tender and full of flavor. The curry was different, definitely not what I expected but it was good and had a nice flavor and went very well with the short rib and the vegetables that accompanied it. This is something that I would definitely order again!! The portion size didn't look too big but it actually was a lot of meat and I still had a lot left over to take home. Burma Love is a nicely decorate restaurant with mostly good food and friendly service. We enjoyed the Tiffin Set Lunch menu, especially chicken curry and chicken kebab. The short-rib curry was a bit gamey for us, almost felt like lamb, but the kitchen confirmed it was beef. The Burmese milk tea was a bit watery (if you're expecting something similar to a creamy Thai Milk Tea). I was a bit surprised to see a 30% large party fee for our family, which consisted of six adults and two children (both under the age of 5). A popular Bay Area spot for Burmese eats -- one of a few locations sprinkled around the north Bay. The ambiance is nice, would make a good spot for a team dinner or celebrations. IMO the quality's gone a bit downhill -- the food is decent, but feels a bit pricey for what it is. My personal favorite was the Roti with Honey Butter, plus the Fiery Tofu was good. The Green Curry was mediocre at best. I still overall enjoyed, but not in a rush to head back. read more

There was a large number of us; 10. Despite the large number, we never went without water or hot tea refills. We ate family style & most of it was so good. I can't remember the name of the fluffy, croissant style bread you can order to dip in the noodle dishes & curry, but it is a MUST! We ordered 3 extra orders. Another must get is their tea leaf salad. Another thing we ordered an extra of. The curry was ok, but I've had better & for the price, I would not order it again. Same with the crab cakes & egg rolls. They were ok, but with so many good noodle dishes, I wouldn't waste my money. I would definitely recommend coming! read more
