    Tiffin Set Lunch
    D H.

Mother's Day 11:30 reservation seated right away. First time in, the decor is fabulous, very tastefully done, beautiful. Ordered the Tiffin Set Lunch which was delicious, hot, flavorful and nicely plated. We added an order of Shan Noodles which we found to be our favorite! Plenty of food for two or three people. Service at the bar was excellent. Thank you for the upbeat and friendly hospitality, we'll definitely be back!

Dinner for 3 at Burma Love was enjoyable! Service was attentive and the ambiance was cute. It's also a plus that there's an underground parking to the left of the restaurant that is free for the first 2 hours. We ordered to share: - scallion pancake with kabocha dip (4.5/5) - garlic noodles with added shrimp (3/5) -- black pepper was the prominent flavor - coconut chicken curry with a side of coconut rice (4/5) - eggplant with garlic sauce (5/5) -- favorite! umami-bomb - steamed sea bass (3/5) -- was a bit bland Additionally, we can't forget the Litchi Express cocktail, which was super aesthetic and delicious. Overall it was good; though not the best Burmese food I've had, it's definitely still worth revisiting.

We arrived here on a mid Sunday afternoon and were able to be pleasantly seated for our party of 6. The interior decor looked quite nice with sparkling chandeliers and everything looked clean. Roti 5/5: fresh, crispy, although oily. we chose the coconut chicken curry as the side which was a solid choice. It came with small chicken chunks which was a plus! Coconut chicken curry 4.5/5: the curry was so creamy and tasty! It had a slight refreshing lemongrass taste, with plenty of chicken pieces. Mohinga 4/5: this meal was definitely a generous portion size! The fish filets were well fried but remained soft on the inside, it was a bit bland though. The soup itself was very flavorful with a decent kick of spice. There were plentiful rice noodles in the dish! The prices are a bit steep, but the quality of food and service make up for it!

Came to Burma Love and enjoyed the meal. Of course we started with some cocktails and of course we went with the holiday specials. Both were good, but the Butter Moon was definitely better than the Emerald Heart. For an appetizer we decided to go with the Roti Platha. Personally, I thought the curry was too salty and a bit heavy on the spices. Personal preference, I like my chicken curry dips to be a little more coconut forward. For mains, we shared the Mohinga and the Pork Belly. Both of these were really tasty! The Mohinga had a good amount of noodles and I really enjoyed the play on textures and flavors everywhere. The pork belly was also unctuous and super tasty but the coconut rice was really overcooked unfortunately. It was basically mush. Overall, our meal was super tasty. Burma Love is a very convenient new favorite with all its locations.

Really great food! Cute vibe! Service was attentive but not overbearing. There is a parking garage close by. The tea leaf salad is amazing! We ordered noodles, curry. and green beans. The green beans were so flavorful I could honestly eat that entire plate myself. They have a full cocktail menu as well, but we didn't try anything on this particular visit. Definitely would come back!

The rice wasn't even rice. It is so gummy. And the waitress did not even say hi when I walked in it was bizarre. All food BAD

The rice was ridiculous. It wasn't even rice. It was like flour paste. And the bartender did not even say hi when I walked in not very smart professional.

Came here with a group of 5! We only got to sit outdoors and got the heat lamps. If you want indoors, definitely book ahead of time. We ordered a number of things, and even though the portions look small, but everything is rich. We were very full by the end of this. I would probably skip out on apps (but get the tea leaf salad!) and would also get the drinks. Drinks are yummy and creative, esp the mango lassi (vegan?). Service was pretty attentive despite us sitting outside. Nothing to complain there! They also valet your ticket if you park downstairs and go beyond 2 hours.

Came here for Valentine's Day with my girlfriend, and we both had an incredible, romantic experience. The servers were delightful and offered their recommendations. We had the Valentine's Day Special that came with a 4-course meal for $125 - this included a tasty salad, two appetizers of your choice (we got oysters and samosas), two main entrees (we got duck curry and sea bass), and a chocolate mousse dessert. This was a great value and every dish was a 10/10; we even got a free rose and the recipe for their salad at the end of the meal. If this were any indicator of what Burmese food can be, the bar is set extremely high.

Everything was amazing ! From service, ambiance and especially food. It was my first time experiencing Burmese cusine. And i'm glad that I did. I would definitely come back with friends and families since you can easily find something for anybody. From vegan to soups, dry pots etc.

The restaurant was beautiful with plenty of parking nearby. We got 3 cocktails and they were all pretty good, except the clarified milk wash one. Make reservations online because it gets pack! Our server Camille was amazing! She was so helpful when it came to giving suggestion on drinks and food items to choose from.

My kids took me here for my bday celebration and first of all - the staff was SO NICE and friendly. I believe it was the manager that came by to wish me a happy birthday! And checked on us during the meal... Very welcoming and friendly! And the aesthetics here was so beautiful and relaxing. Loved it... We started with drinks - middle and hubby got their ube thai which definitely had the ube flavor... I got the Temple of Tamarind! SO GOOD - the rim the glass with tamarind so if you want more of the tamarind flavor you can sip from the rim vs just drinking from the straw. Was tempted to get another - definitely if you love tamarind - this is a must try!! For our meal, we started off with the Tea Leaf Salad. My all time FAVORITE. I wish they offered different sizes like Burma Superstar - I would've gotten a LARGE for sure!! But probably better not to overstuff given all the food we ordered! LOL... We also got the Burmese Fritters which has kabocha! We LOVE kabocha and this did NOT disappoint! With their spicy tamarind sauce! SO GOOD!! And then my youngest (who couldn't make it but recommended this dish) got the Crab Rangoon dip! MY oh MY. Cheesy and crabby with their fresh chips - I can see why she loves this dip - as now we do as well!! For the mains - we got the coconut chicken curry with coconut rice, hawker garlic noodles and eggplant with garlic sauce. EVERYTHING was flavorful, delicious and my mouth is watering just thinking about it all!! The portions are HUGE - the coconut chicken curry had a little sweetness to it - not spicy - with little potatoes and tender chicken. But that SAUCE!! I ended up getting extra coconut rice to go with my leftover curry and am looking forward to eating it again!! The garlic noodles - WOW - the noodle texture was perfect and I realized after - they used EGG noodles! Really took it to the next level in texture and I love that they put the spicy sauce on the side so those who like the extra spicy can add to their noodles! Comes with fresh cut little cucumbers so you get a bit of crunch with the chewiness of the noodles! SO GOOD!! And then there's the eggplant. We all LOVE eggplant and while this was a bit spicy (but you can pick out the red chili peppers out) - the eggplant itself was cooked PERFECTLY. Chunks that were meaty and flavorful - didn't fall apart - still had the bite AND the flavors! Amazing and perfect for eggplant lovers... And because it was my bday - i got a complimentary chocolate cake with a candle. That cake was SO tender and chocolately - it was very good and just the right amount for us all to take a bite BECAUSE we still ordered the coconut pandan cake! HIGHLY recommend. The texture was perfect and flavors on point! Not too sweet and you can taste the pandan! LOVE Burma Love and this is definitely our go to for Burmese food! Service, atmosphere, food... all exceptional! I can't wait to go back and try more of their other dishes!! OH and they have a parking lot at the complex. Free for the 1st 2 hours and restaurant validation if over 2 hrs. Because we were celebrating my bday we passed the 2 hr mark and they validated for us so it was FREE parking in an underground parking! Can't go wrong there!! So happy to have found this place and can't wait to come back!!

    Hawker Garlic Noodles
    Ata M.

Came for a quick lunch and was wildly underwhelmed. We ordered the friend chicken and garlic noodles with shrimp to share. The food was tasty, except for the fact that the noodles came with chicken instead of shrimp. This leads me to what made the experience meh. We sat at the bar and the bartender could not have been bothered. They barely greeted us, when we opted for regular water he brought the glasses but didn't give us water until we asked once our food arrived, and when the noodles came with chicken instead of shrimp, I confirmed that I had ordered shrimp to which he said, "oh yea, I guess I out chicken" and he just stared at me. At that point I just left it as is and ate the food that was out in front of me. We asked for the check and again, just no sense of urgency or hospitality. Given that the location is convenient and the place is super cute, I feel like it could be a better experience if service improves.

I was the Designated Driver so I ordered an Iced Tea while others in the group ordered expensive double whiskeys and top shelf cocktails, The owner of the bar comes up to me and says, and I quote, " I paid 1.5 million dollars for this bar, you can't come in here and order iced tea, It's not a coffee shop, you need to order something more expensive" Despite a lifetime of experience of ordering food and drink, apparently I ,the customer, ordered wrong. Not having Iced Tea at a bar is like not having vanilla at Baskin Robbins. There are non-alcoholic drinks here which I was well aware of, but mocktails are usually full of sugar or zero-proof alcohols which often taste like salted donkey anus, So that's not happening with me. After taking a second to process, I put 2 & 2 together and thought this was a money issue, So I said "I don't care, charge me whatever, but I would like an iced tea" and the response from the owner was " I don't care, GO FUCK YOURSELF, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY BAR" as he pulled all of the entire groups drinks back over the bar and started gesticulating wildly. At which point further "Pleasantries" were exchanged across the bar and at the end of it all no additions to police records were incurred and we parted ways. This gatekeeping and aggressively inappropriate behavior seemed wildly incongruent with the mantra of "What would Jerry do" ( Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead ). Regardless, I am never going there again, nor their sister restaurant Bistro Vida. This pretentious, overpriced, clown show of a venue can collapse in on itself as far as I care. The bars decor of cosplaying as a secretive 1920's speakeasy burnishes the venue's lack of differentiation which is in direct conflict with the bars new money aspirations of being elite or exclusive. The ridiculous idea that the owner spent X dollars necessitates you ,the customer, spending Y dollars breaks all social conventions that I have known throughout my entire life. There is no reason for a host/owner to behave like a foul mouthed spoiled child when asked for the basest of requests. The kicker is that this is not new behaviour from the owner and has been a long running aspect of the business https://yelp.to/rVUTLHQ53y ( review from 9 months from my encounter ) I refuse to support businesses that don't respect their customers. As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

Using that language sets up an expectation that neither the ambiance nor the vibe is able to live up to. I can only assume that those reviews that commend this place as a speakeasy have never actually been to a real speakeasy and are more accustomed to box restaurants and bars. I sat at the bar and ordered a bourbon neat with a water back. There were three staff members behind the bar, none of them were particularly friendly or outgoing, which as someone who worked in the industry for years is surprising as a new establishment. Even though it was happy hour time, it was a Wednesday the place was less than half full and good servers /bartenders normally add to the experience and help creat a customer base of regulars to sustain business after the "come see" crowd is over. I ordered d' nuts as a snack and they weren't very special, even a bit overcooked / burnt. Maybe this place is exciting for a Palo Alto crowd that doesn't get out much, especially on the stretch of California given the lack of competition. My guess is that after a few months they will be hard-pressed to find a steady crowd.

But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

The carne asada was our least favorite; the portion of meat was small, the tortillas were tiny for the fillings, and the burnt/melted cheese inside threw off the flavor. We also shared the guacamole + salsa combo, which I enjoyed, but just a heads-up: it leans on the spicier side.

Although we were the only ones outside, I saw that people walking by noticed us, and within 20 minutes, at least 5 more tables were seated--3 also had dogs. I ordered the sausage pizza and cacio e pepe fries. Server was ok. I had asked for the pizza without the Calabrian chili flakes. It arrived with a small dusting of them. Perhaps they forgot then tried to remove most of them? Crust was good and there were some leopard spots. The cacio e pepe fries were greasy and flabby--not at all crisp. Obviously under fried. I stopped the manager and asked if they could be cooked more. She graciously agreed they were not cooked correctly and apologized. A new, crisp order arrived shortly. Much better but in all these are more like regular fries. The cacio e pepe seasoning should be a little heavier. Overall, I had a relaxing lunch on the patio and enjoyed the great weather. The food was good, and I'll give them another try. Extra points for being dog friendly.

Decently busy for a week night. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. The man who gave us our table was really nice too. They have a children's menu - with crayons. Nice touch. Food was food. We got a children's cheese pizza, fungi with sausage, and a Cesar salad. The Cesar salad was great - I wanted to have the whole thing myself. Plenty of restrooms - stalls. Do plan to return.

Though it was Saturday noon, we found free covered parking at Menlo Center Plaza off Santa Cruz Avenue. True to online postings, this restaurant had vibrant & faux flowery decor. Our large group of 8 was seated in the main dining hall with another large group. The menus of specials and cocktails with colorful F&D photos reminded me of touristy European restaurants. I had the hot Japanese sencha while my wife got the Thai Iced tea served with a crushed iced ball on top. Roti Mataba, Crispy Egg Rolls, Farmhouse Wings and Crispy Calamari were our starters for this gang of eclectic diners. I shared with my wife the Panang Neua (braised beef in curry sauce) and Pad See You which came gorgeously plated with generous servings. We were able to sample the Crab Fried Rice and Tom Kha from our dinnermates. Ruk Na (love you) Platter was the underwhelming dessert combo of Thai Vacation, Sticky Rice (no mango), Chocolate Cake with fresh fruits and a macaron. To be described as IG worthy in the menu wasn't accurate IMO. It must've been an off-day in the kitchen when they were prepping this "leave the choice up to us" plate of sweets. Food was way flavorful than regular Thai restaurants we've been to. The common complaint is the very pricy food. The staff was nice though. They even acknowledged our request for photos. Even with the setbacks, this was a nice lunch with this group.

The drinks/cocktails are great with an extensive selection in addition to their willingness to make things not on the menu as long as they have the ingredients. We only had "bar food" (french fries, onion rings, and my friends had wings) but the menu looked really interesting. Next time I will go back for some pizza or other things on the menu. The most unexpected part of the evening happened when they brought out a "cake" made of brownies and candle in it! My friend sneakily told them it was my birthday. The brownie cake was delicious and enough for many more than the 3 of us. Such a great place and I will be back soon!

It's a bit small but we got some seats at the bar. The wall art was beautiful. They had TVs to watch sports. Really good portion too. We also had a couple martinis and cognac neat. The bartender/server was very personable and very knowledgeable about liquor. Especially tequila. A nice spot to hang. Would stop by again if in the area.

It is my pleasure to say my reservation this past weekend was nothing short of phenomenal! Sofia, our server and Sam, the GM made our visit very memorable with their kind, attentive, and energetic service. Their recommendations for cocktails, wine, and food were all fabulous and demonstrated great attention to detail on their end when prompted with what we all liked. I was touched by Sam's gesture of surprising me with a hand-crafted lychee cocktail, on the house. He remembered that this was my most favorite fruit and reminded me of my home back in Hawaii. Overall, the drinks and food arrived extremely quickly and were presented beautifully. Everything tasted even better than I remembered! All this to say, I look forward to and highly recommend returning to British Banker's Club for any and all occasions!

The short rib was tender and everything on the plate went well together. I loved the Yorkshire pudding! It was soft and had an eggy flavor. The truffle pasta had a very mushroomy flavor that I loved. It gave it an earthy taste. The pasta itself held the sauce well and it was perfectly cooked. I was not a fan of the lobster roll because the lobster did not taste fresh and fell out of the New England roll. Over all, I enjoyed most of the food and hope to go back to give it a second try.
