Beer

After work, my boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxed evening spot and decided on The Dutch Goose. It was my first time, but he's been before. I can definitely see the appeal for young adults. They've got arcade games, claw machines, and even a pool table. Apparently, they're known for their deviled eggs, but they also serve burgers and pizza. We grabbed a couple of beers on tap from the downstairs bar (the place has a separate bar area downstairs, which is cool). We split a small, four-slice pizza for $10. It was a great, chill place, and we totally lost track of time. Lots of booths for seating, and the decor has a cool, old-timey vibe. The staff was fine, nothing particularly special, and the atmosphere was a bit loud, but overall, a fun experience!

Fat and gristle

I've been coming here for 30 years. Ordered bbq sliders as they were well reviewed. My experience was the opposite. I ordered to go--sliders had NO bbq sauce and were so full of fat that 3 little sandwiches became 1 1/2. Extremely disappointed. The fries were cold and limp. This was a really terrible experience. On the other hand, The deviled eggs were awesome. As per usual. However, you guys don't need to give me 15 packs of saltines. Maybe you knew how sad I'd be over the meal so I'd have something else to eat.

This was my first time eating here, and honestly, the place is not that good. The burger was just okay--I'd give it a 7/10. It was cooked well, had a big portion size, and the price was alright, though I felt like it could've been a little cheaper. The fries were not good at all. They're trying to be McDonald's-style fries in texture, but they completely miss the mark. They weren't warm, weren't crispy, and lacked flavor. I definitely wouldn't get the fries again. The star of the show was the buffalo wings. Price-wise, they were pretty solid for about 8-10 wings. They were crispy, the sauce was flavorful and coated the wings really well, and overall I'd give them a 9/10. Service was okay. The ambience feels like an old bar--definitely could use an update. A lot of the chairs looked worn with drawings on the seats. One thing I did like was the little bar where you can grab pickles, pico de gallo, and salsa. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back unless I'm specifically craving wings or maybe a burger. But even then, I'd rather go to St. John's or Jeffery's for a better burger.

I came here on a Thursday night in search of the delicious burgers I first tried about six years ago. Walking in, the establishment looked the same. Your wood-cabin American bar vibe with a pool table. We ordered Buffalo wings to share, and I got a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The place was packed with middle schoolers who looked like they had just come out of a soccer game. It was ridiculously loud; you could barely hear your own conversation. Bacon Cheeseburger: It was your typical burger with a good portion size. It comes with tomato, lettuce, onions, and their sauce they call "gooey." The patty was cooked well, and they added a lot of onions. It also came with some chips on the side. There are unlimited toppings (pico de gallo and pickles) by the register. Nothing special, nothing really stood out. I would rate it a 7/10. Fries: When I tried these fries a few years back, they were thick, fresh, and authentic. Now these fries are giving "unsalted McDonald's fries." They were thin and small and resembled fast-food fries, not what i expected. 4/10 Buffalo Wings: The Buffalo wings were the star of the show. They were big, nicely coated, and had good flavor. They weren't too spicy but had a little kick. If I were near the area, I would only come back for the wings. 10/10. Overall, I wasn't impressed and expected the same quality as before. The food wasn't spectacular, and it was soooo loud. There are other burger places that are better than Dutch Goose.

Great sandwiches, filled with lots of meat. The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to sit on a sunny afternoon, watching the West Menlo Park traffic go by. The inside is interesting as it seems too family friendly to be a pub but too much of a pub to be family friendly? Very full though, so whatever it is does work.

Always a good time at The Dutch Goose! Love their deviled eggs. I also love their cheeseburgers. Pizza is tasty too. Great place to grab a drink with friends or get a lunch or dinner. Staff is always friendly and provides excellent service. Forgot to take pictures of my food but it was delish!

Booths & Graffiti

Boy, what a neat place for food and fun with friends. It was my first visit and I instantly got an Oasis vibe (I so miss that place!). I guess I'm a sucker for booths with graffiti. The menu is exhaustive, (I had a Patty Melt with fries) with something for everyone. They also have a great beer selection. Indoor booths and outdoor tables. They had areas in the back that look like they could be used for private gatherings and overflow diners. I understand there are a lot of folks for whom this wonderful diner is no secret. It wasn't busy when I had lunch (Monday early afternoon) and parking was plentiful. I'm certain this is not always the case. If you've never been, I recommend it whole-heartedly. If you're already a fan then I'm surprised you've continued reading the thoughts of a newbie. Whatever, this place is great fun and worth your time.

I was so hungry during my break that I already tore into my food so I apologize for the half eaten burger, but I loved it so much that I gotta share it! It was absolutely juicy and the mayonnaise was such a great compliment. The chips were one of my favorite parts, though! It's not too crispy or salty, have the perfect crunch. Although I bought it around 6 PM it warmed up well in the microwave, but I can't wait to try this place fresh!

Parking can be rough. Nice place to catch a game and take in some tasty pub food. Beverage selection if fairly top notch. Apparently the deviled eggs are well renowned. They didn't strike me as anything I would see out. Place was kept clean. Restrooms were fine. A cute little place up off the beaten path. Service was friendly and efficient.

Dutch Goose has been a staple for M-A Students and after a couple of years I got to come back and let me tell you its what I remembered the food and staff are always so kind and friendly. The good is always delicious tried the burger salad and french fries with a fountain drink and it was just what I was craving. Definitely my go to when I am in the area. Also the ambience is always great their trivial night is always fun and as far as sitting you will always find it. Definitely highly recommend this local gem.

BLAT sandwich with homemade chips

Great pub grub at reasonable cost! Menlo Park gem! First time chowing here and must say the pub grub is good and there's something for everyone here. Casual environment, great for sitting with a friend, relaxed environment enjoying some good bar food. It's been here decades, and more decades to come! Burgers, hot diggities dawgs, sammies, salads, crazy spiced egg thingy, pizza and much more! Excellent service, nice peeps serving up grub to citizens in need of some munching. I ordered the BLAT, spicy deviled egg and wings served crispy with no sauce. Everything was great and good quality. However, die hard fans don't get mad at me...I do not like the spicy deviled eggs. I understand it's a menu icon and especially with area locals but my kind of deviled egg is formed not goopy. I love me a good deviled egg but not as they have made. Otherwise, I loved everything. Stop by when you're in the area! Cheers!

Deviled eggs to die for

IYKYK. Well if local. The Dutch Goose has been a Menlo Park institution since 1966. They never disappoint. But don't expect frills and fancy. This is a peanuts on the floor kinda place. You should always start with one of their super unique, delicious deviled eggs. Gooey, messy and like none you've tasted before. I've had their pizza which is always a staple. Burgers are great for those that eat meat. I don't, so the veggie or turkey burgers are my go too. They have an extensive menu with selections for everyone. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with an outside bar (The Duck Blind) with seating for those 21 and older. I truly appreciate they keep the bar kids free. I wish more restaurants would do the same. Super casual. Great food. Service has always been great. You do order from a counter and they give you a buzzer when your food is ready. So no table service. Highly recommend!!!

Pretty good spot if you like Scottish eggs and a pub atmosphere. Beware that during the summer it is going to be HOT and there is no AC. The vanilla milkshake was bomb!

Ask the Community - Dutch Goose

Do they have happy hr?

Yes, the Dutch goose does have happy hour, but I cannot tell you what the time is

Is Dutch Goose still open?

Alive and well! As of Dec. '23.

Is this establishment dog friendly?

No, they are not dog friendly as we found out today!!!

We're a party of 4. Are reservations needed for dinner on Sundays?

That won't be necessary. I was there with 6 friends without reservations on a VERY busy Sunday (after the Stanford/Cal game). We self seated and got in line to order food. Wasn't a problem. Was around 6-7pm when We arrived.

Are people under 21 allowed?

I have seen underage kids in there - like a soccer team for example.

Are you allowed to have dogs in the outdoor patio? Even small dogs?

Unfortunately no, dogs aren't allowed, not even on the back patio. Blah

Every dish was beautifully plated but, more importantly, actually delicious. You can tell there's real attention to detail in every course. The highlights for us were the perfectly cooked beef dish with the rich sauce and potato gratin, the risotto, the strawberry tart dessert, and honestly the bread service alone deserves recognition. Even the little sweets at the end felt special. Great wine selection too, which made it perfect for an anniversary dinner. Service was polished, attentive, and professional without feeling overly formal or uncomfortable. The only downside was the reservation/seating situation. We weren't able to get reservations and ended up seated outside on a pretty cold evening. Thankfully the heaters helped a lot, so it was still comfortable, but it did feel a little odd seeing the dining room only about half full while outdoor guests stayed outside. Also worth mentioning: this place is definitely pricey. Not somewhere we'd casually stop into on a random Tuesday. But for a special occasion like an anniversary, the overall experience, atmosphere, presentation, and quality made it feel worth it. We'd absolutely come back again -- just with reservations next time.
