Stopped by Le Banc after trying to walk off pizza, chicken wings and beer. Didn't think Los Altos would have a dive bar. Well, it's about as divey as one would expect of the town. Good bar. A buddy and I had a couple of pints and talked about the town we used to frequent way back in the 90s when we attended the neighboring community college. Ah, those we the days Anyway, Le Banc mean "the bench" in French and not "the bank" like we thought. A tip of the hat to the bartender "Ella" for educating us. We both liked the joint and will go back. Sorry, only one pic this time. It felt weird snapping pictures of a nearly empty bar.

This may be the only full bar in downtown. There's a lot going on in this bar. There's a lot of TV's, games, jukebox, and interesting décor. Bartenders are good. I don't think it's quite my scene, but there's something for everyone at this place. It caters to everyone.

Ella, Ana, and Ryan are the best!! We always have the best times coming here. Wouldn't recommend a late night bar besides this one.

The focaccia bread and dipping sauce was very good to start. We also ordered the bruschetta trio. I hadn't read the menu clearly and they were large pieces of one with arugula, cherry tomatoes and an eggplant and onion bruschetta. I think if the bread was toasted better it would've been tastier. It is a bit difficult to eat as it is packed and wished the tomatoes were chopped up. I ordered the Carbonara Calabrese and never had carbonara with artichokes. It is a smaller portion for an Italian restaurant and unfortunately it was just okay. I really needed the crushed red pepper for more flavor. The guanciale had a bit too much fat for my liking. My friend had the gnocchi pomodoro and we thought the gnocchi was overcooked as it was quite mushy. Unfortunately I was disappointed as I had high hopes for this restaurant but have had much better.

The interior is more dimly-lit, with large TVs and some comfy couches. This is an official spot to watch 49ers games so if you're a sports fan definitely note this one down. I liked that the service was helpful but not overbearing. Our waiter was able to recommend two different red wines for my friend and I really enjoyed the vinho verde I had. We ordered the charcuterie board to share between the two of us. This was a GREAT portion and came with a huge basket of sliced French bread. Perfect size to snack and graze on during the night. The bill came out to $53/pp incl. tax+tip for: 3 drinks total + 1 charcuterie board. It was definitely pricey in my opinion but I did really like my wine selection. Overall, great spot to hangout without a rushed vibe. Friendly service and easy eats.

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse. So even though the food wasn't great, and the music was horrible, I will return funnily enough because the decor and the people were worth it.

At fist it looks sort of intimidating, I wanted to place it in Palo Alto or Market St in SF, or in downtown Mt View. it has pulse, vibe and a charm! How will you know this, not until you go in and experience yourself. At first I read all about this unique space, and then I looked over the menu. There were a few things that caught my eye, some Spanish and Italian types of dishes/sides nestled into this California type cuisine, a twist of sorts. With an array of too many great dishes, you just need to go in and expeirence this yourself. I would not place this on the most pricier side of venues in Los Altos, but also not one of the most inexpensive. It is a nice place. I think for two people, if you do not go overboard, have a drink and share a small dish and have your mains and a dessert, you could do this for about $200.00. or so. He made sure to let us know he was entertaining a larger group that was paying more than us. Personally, I don't understand how that makes my family's business less valuable. It's simply bizarre and unprofessional to mention how much other people are paying at your restaurant. In all my years, I've never heard of an owner doing that. I highly doubt those customers would appreciate the owner going around and blabbing about their wealth. If this restaurant has problems with children, I don't know why they advertise their kids' menu. The place seemed a little caught off guard that we brought our little ones. I acknowledge my bias that the children are my family, but they were not making much noise. They were sharing a tablet, mostly quiet, with a few laughs every now and then. It's not like the place is particularly quiet anyway. The comment left my entire table on edge for the rest of the meal. The remark was made before our food came out, and my daughter-in-law, the mother to one of the children, was so upset by the comment that she couldn't touch her food. I would like to comment on the food quality, but I simply wasn't able to enjoy it either. When we were getting ready to leave, she let him know that she would leave a bad review. He said that he didn't mind. I told her not to bother, but it's been 24 hours, and I am still fuming, so I am leaving a review. This restaurant totally ruined my daughter-in-law's and my Mother's Day, and the owner seemed to take an odd satisfaction in upsetting us. A man who has no respect for families, especially mothers, has no respect for customers.
