No, this place is open for lunch, and it's where I went after Lulu's was too crowded. The only parking spaces available in the area were the Lutticken's-only ones, so that's where I went. The menu over the ordering counter was chaotic and confusing, I couldn't quite figure out all of what they had. What I could find was a meat loaf sandwich, which I had on a Dutch crunch roll. It was very big and hearty, I'll give it that, though the meat loaf was only a small part of it (ref. "where's the beef?") but it was pretty good meat loaf. Wow, first time here w the family. My mother in law lives in Menlo and my husband hasn't been here since middle school (so it's been 4 decades!) The people working were all very young and friendly. We can for a late lunch on a Saturday, ambiance was very laid back. The prices were phenomenal! Pre-pandemic and pre-inflation. My teenage son had the Philly cheese steak ($9.95) on a Dutch crunch roll, delicious! He said if this place was near his high school, he would come every day. He also bought the t-shirt. We had sliders two for $7 and my husband had a burger ($9.95), single latte ($3), and fries (also very good). We will definitely come back again the next time we are in town. Also on yelp it says they aren't open till 5:00p, but that is only for the dinner menu I think. They are totally open for lunch too. read more

I was needing a late lunch/early dinner the other day and was in the area so stopped by Lutticken'ns. (They are located next to LuLu's and The Dutch Goose) This is such a wonderful local spot! The food is good (and large portions!) and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. When you walk in you feel like you're in someone's dining room that flows into their living room. They have small to large tables in the dining area and in the "living room" area they have chairs surrounding a fireplace, another area with sofa and chairs, and then the bar area. It's super comfy and a great place to hang out with friends, have a couple cocktails, get some appetizers and catch up. They have a big screen TV above the fireplace so you can also watch your favorite sports game. During the day up until 5pm they have their breakfast menu, sandwiches, paninis, salads and their burrito menu. After 5 they have their dinner menu with a large selection of yumminess to choose from. I love all the appetizer selections! Their prices are very reasonable, especially considering this is Menlo Park. They have a full bar and a pretty good wine selection to choose from. They also have live bands every Friday night and on Fridays they are open until 9pm. They have a patio area in the front but on nice days get there early because it's the most popular seats and fill up fast. The staff at this place are the true gems! Im not sure how someplace that is so mid is still around. Unfortunately I made the mistake of agreeing to eat here with friends. There are no veg friendly options, and no, they dont even try. I asked if I could do some sort of veggie sandwich. Literally anything with no animals in it. I got a dry roll, with a couple of pieces of eggplant, and jarred bell peppers. I want to love this place, I really do. I love the staff and the atmosphere. It's honestly cozy, always smells delicious and is so inviting. I would come daily if the food was more enjoyable. I've had a few things on the menu as well as some grab and go items and it's just not for me. Yesterday I went and grabbed the pasta salad and marinated mushrooms- both had a ton of Italian type dressing and garlic powder. I took a bite of each and put them down. Didn't taste fresh and flavorful. The last time I grabbed a deli meat sandwich, all fresh ingredients but the deli meat was a bit off. Maybe I need to try some of their breakfast items. My friend raves about this spot, and I haven't found something I love, and that doesn't mean I won't return- I just haven't found it yet. My Mom and sister and I needed some good after dealing with care-taking for my father. This deli was on the way back from the care facility so we stopped in for a late lunch. The parking is crazy, really narrow spots and there is a large bump to get into the spot. Luckily we were not in my SUV but my sister's rental car. We lucked out and got the first spot. I also got a big bag of chips and a Mexican Coke (yay real sugar). My sister and mom got a lemonade and a sparkling water. Even though they had a lot of chips to choose from, most were too spicy for me, I ended up with a large bag of plain kettle chips. My sandwich was good, I ordered a turkey with lettuce and mayo on a sourdough roll. The roll was huge. I ended up having to pile all the stuff on one base and use the other base as a top in order to cut down on the carbs!! The fries were Amazing!! We definitely were happy we ordered them. Nice and crispy and hot, while not being too overdone. Thank you. My mom got a shrimp sandwich, again it was so large that she saved the other half for a late dinner. She was happy. My sister ordered the Italian pressed sandwich, very large and she was surprised by what meats were included. She finished her sandwich in the shop because she had to fly. First time eating here. I got a BLT on Dutch crunch, potato salad, and a cookie. BLT - I expected the Dutch Crunch bread to be toasted, but I suppose that falls on me for not asking for toasted bread. The bread still seemed a bit stale however and there was barely enough bacon when ordering double bacon. I am curious to know how much bacon is actually put in with no extra bacon. I asked for Avocado which was good and the produce was decent. Not a terrible sandwich, but not a great sandwich either. Potato Salad - I've eaten the exact same potato salad at Safeway or maybe it was Lucky. In any event, I know it was purchased from one of those stores because I ate it once and it was terrible. Cookie - It tasted like a stale cookie from again, a grocery store. Been coming here since god knows when. 30 years ? 25 years? I'm not sure. I keep coming back because the sandwiches are awesome. The people are friendly and the place is old and classic as Menlo Park itself. It's a local institution. Dutch crunch bread is a local favorite and the only bread I get sandwiches on at Lutikens. My go to is a roasted turkey on Dutch with all the veggies they can plow on there and my secret weapon: cranberry sauce. Love it. The sandwiches are okay here. They are not the best or worse. They are fair. They don't put very much meat in the sandwiches. I was looking around to order box lunches for my woman's group and someone told me about Lutticken's. I called, looked at their menu and decided to try their lunches. Box lunches include a very attractive box holding the meal. We ordered turkey, roast beef and vegetarian sandwiches which came with lettuce, pickle, tomato and onion on them. Included in the boxes were assorted small bags of chips, small pasta salad, fruit (usually an apple comes with the lunch, but I explained we had some older women who may not enjoy the apple so we got small containers of strawberries and grapes-yummy!) cookie, napkin, fork and small mustard and mayo condiment packets. Also included with the box lunches are beverages, we got assorted waters, diet and non diet cokes in a separate box. It was nice that they were very willing to work with us as to ordering kind of sandwiches, and switching from an apple to grapes and strawberries. Everyone totally enjoyed their meals and the lunches were very filling. Working with Luttickens was very easy. Judy helped me with the numbers and kinds of drinks etc most people order. TIP: You have to tell them about your intent to order about one week ahead so they can expect your order. Then two days prior to the date you need the lunches, you order them. Parking is available next to the store. There are a few private parking spaces available and each time I came I had no problem finding an empty spot. If we were to need box lunches again I would definitely order from Luttickens again. The three stars is mainly for the service. These guys are definitely working as fast and best as they can. I can't fault them for that. The quality of the food though was not great. The sandwiches came out lukewarm, and my burritos came with old, hard rice that crunched upon chewing. I thought maybe it was just an issue of one sandwich or one burrito, but I ordered three sandwiches and two burritos through Yelp, and each food item had the same issue. I went in for lunch today, and was very scared and surprised to see a racist tirade proceed from the owner (husband specifically) towards an Asian American male patron. It was incredibly vile and unethical and I think it's important for any minority to know that if you go into this establishment, you could be the victim of racism and harassment.
