    Thai Ice Tea

My brother and I met up with a buddy of ours for dinner. We've eaten at a few different places in Willow Glen over the years, and have driven past this restaurant many times. But thankfully, tonight, we decided to try out Sweet Mango. This was a good find for us. It's a standalone restaurant with It's own smallish parking lot. The interior is quaint and has typical "Asian-style decor". One unisex restroom only. The service is so friendly and attentive! We ate family-style and ordered the following dishes... Tea Leaf Salad: Salad prepared with imported burmese tea leaf, tomatoes, fried garlic, fried onion, fried split peas, sesame seeds, peanuts, iceberg lettuce & fish sauce (4/5). Good flavor with different crunchy textures. Basil Chicken: White chicken stir-fried with bamboo shoots, onion, bell pepper, zucchini in fresh basil sauce (3.5/5). This was different than expected. It sort of reminded me of a Kung Pao Chicken but with no peanuts. The sauce was good but what was amazing was the chicken breast. This was the most tenderest chicken meat I have ever tasted. I mean it just melted in your mouth. It was so good. Burmese Style Fried Rice: Steam rice stir-fried with pork sausage, egg, bean sprout, onion, cabbage, and fish sauce with ground turmeric (3/5). This was just ok to me. The pork sausage was Chinese lap cheung. It was good to try. Coconut Curry Chicken: Tender chicken slow-cooked with fish sauce, onion, garlic, and seasoned with coconut curry sauce (4/5). Flavorful curry with pan seared potatoes and super tender chicken breast. Fresh Mango with Sticky Rice (4/5). sweet and ripe mangoes in a sweetened coconut cream sauce. [No picture]. Thai Ice Tea: Sweet and creamy tea blend with hints of spices, served over ice (4/5). Support your local business.

I love this place based on the Chinese food. I can't speak too much on the Thai or Burmese dishes but I have seen reviews stating they didn't taste "authentic". I've stuck with the Chinese dishes (kung pao, Mongolian beef, general tso, etc) and they were all delicious!!! I clean my plate up every time Lunch special is definitely worth it as it comes with a salad and soup in addition to your entree (which comes with steamed white rice) Service is great and food came pretty quickly. In terms of ambiance, it's not the prettiest but I come here for the great food at great prices so I'm not complaining :-)

If I could give Sweet Mango more than five stars I would. This was my second time coming here in the span of a few years mostly because it's a bit of a drive for me but it's definitely a spot I recommend and would frequent more regularly if I was closer. I'm surprised at some of the experiences of the lower ratings, and it's too bad they didn't get the full Sweet Mango experience. We dined as a group of three and ordered three entrees, one noodle dish, and one small side of rice. There was plenty of food for all of us to walk out full and with leftovers. I did ask if the food was prepared with MSG and was informed NO MSG. I also didn't get the post-MSG weirdness so I trust she was being truthful. The comments abt MSG on here may be old. We ordered: - green curry chicken 9/10 - pumpkin chicken 9/10 - banana chicken (very sweet) 6/10 - pad kee mao 10/20 The staff was so friendly - smiling and welcoming, and not too overbearing. The restaurant itself was small but busy! They have cute homelike plates that makes it feel very much like you're eating someone's home recipes, made with care and love. Aesthetically it gives long-standing spot (salmon colored walls). We went for and early 4:30 dinner and as we were leaving they were seating folks and constantly popping out to-go orders. I look forward to dining here for years to come and putting new people onto this spot. Thank you for having us tonight!

FOOD I love everything here except the tea leaf salad had too much funk taste for our liking. Yes to their mango chicken. Yes to the honey walnut prawns. I would totally order to go here if I lived closer. Thai iced tea could use more Thai tea and less milk for my preference. STAFF has never been a problem whenever I come here. The food comes out fast! PARKING lot is small but there is street parking. INSIDE is not fancy but it's homey feeling. This place has been here for many many years.

2/3 of these noodles in beef chow fun were mushy clumps that had no sauce.

Picked here based on all the positive reviews, especially for their chow fun. Smelled good when I pulled up to get our to go order but it was not nice food. Everything is extra, so note that. $3 for a small steamed rice to go with our $17 entrees. The tangerine chicken was made with chicken that didn't taste completely fresh. The beef chow fun was flavorless, greasy and the noodles with mushy and awful. It was probably the worst chow fun I've ever had because even when getting a bland one I've never had the noodles be just mush. (Pic shows how many huge clumps weren't even broken apart and were just thick white unseasoned noodles.) The egg rolls were not the worst I've ever had, technically. One time I had egg rolls that tasted and looked like plain sauerkraut was used to fill them. But these were really bad. Essentially inedible. Greasy and filled with huge, stringy pieces of cabbage. It reminded me of the chicken scrap bucket from my childhood. I won't return and can't recommend it to anyone. Also, when I added up my to go order (making sure to include the rice too) it was $45 and yet when I paid it was almost $10 more than the grand total. (I didn't add tax, but $10 for tax seems unhinged and no one gave me a receipt.)

Eggplant In Garlic Sauce or Fresh Basil Sauce
    James M.

Service was OK, but the food itself was just competent, not great. Eggplant with fish was tasty but there was not a lot of fish. Beef with string beans had some tough, stringy meat. The name says "sweet mango" but the mango chicken was very sour. It seems like the focus may be on delivery (Uber Eats, etc.) and not on done-in customers. The interior could do with some remodelling.

    Mongolian Beef Lunch Special

The food here is always delicious!! What I have tried: Eggrolls - good Samosas - very crispy and delicious Popcorn chicken - so flavorful! Red coconut chicken curry - very good, tender chicken. Lunch special Mongolian beef and fried rice, SO good!! Highly recommended.

3.5/5, rounded up in this case Cute little Thai place a bit separated from Willow Glen strip realistically speaking (just a block or two down). Pad Thai ~3.5/5 - I do think this doesn't get any spice at all, based off no spicy symbol on the menu which kind of sucks as I'd assume most Thai dishes to like to incorporate spice. I'd assume they could add it if you asked but otherwise, as a default its a 3.5. Honey Walnut Chicken 4/5 - Pretty interesting choice, figured I'd try it over the regular prawns. Chicken was okay for juiciness and the honey walnut sauce does make it a great twist. Service is great, waiter is always going around and ensuring you're doing all right. Waiters also seem to be keeping a look out for customers cars in the front as when I came, they came around each table asking who had a white suv in the front as their phone was there. Parking lot is very small, probably about 5-7 cars at most, so do expect to park in either one of the Willow Glen lots or street parking.

Last Mango in Paris Locally-owned restaurant serving up Chinese and Burmese cuisine for nearly fifteen years after taking over for the old Siam Square back in 2010. The Good: *Located just a stone's throw from DT Willow Glen *Small private lot, as well as street parking. *Friendly service *Bottled Asian beer *Large menu *Nice décor and ambiance of fancy but casual *Fried spring rolls were very good. Maybe even better than my all-time favorite at King Eggroll. *I saw a post on local sub Reddit a few months back about Burmese Tea Leaf Salad--which I've never had but suddenly needed to--and where to get the best one in The Bay. Sweet Mango was one of those locations and while it took me a minute to finally come check it out, after trying it I'm a believer. Great earthy pesto-like flavor from the imported tea leaves and loved all the crunchy elements. Highly recommend this dish. It's meant to share but I ate the whole thing myself. Oink oink. :8) The Meh: *Five Spice Popcorn chicken was very bland and needed some oomph to it. Just tasted like nice crispy chicken but no other flavors to speak of. *And speaking of oomph, a lot of the dishes lacked that punch of flavor that Asian cuisine is known for. The Ugly: *They really should think about sprucing up the exterior of this place. Definitely a don't judge a book by it's cover type of situation, but still. Maybe dust that cover occasionally. Conclusion: Overall, decent grub in a great location with friendly service.

    Shih Fa K.

The sauce was not as heavy on flavor as I like it. And usually, most places will let you substitute tofu for a different protein, but this place charges for them. Otherwise, it's fine. Can't comment on the service and ambiance as a colleague got takeout for me.

The menu is laid out by geographic regions, which I thought was a really neat way to showcase the many different cuisines. We started with summer rolls and calamari, both of which were excellent. The summer rolls were fresh and bright, with a delicious peanut sauce that was among the best my sister (a self-described "Peanut Sauce Snob") and I had ever had. The large pieces of calamari were expertly cooked, still very tender even after frying. There was a hint of spice in the calamari dipping sauce that I quite enjoyed. For entrees, we got Pad Thai, Pad See You, and Panang Curry -- all favorites we've had many places (despite the many alluring new-to-me options, I admit we all defaulted to known quantities) -- and we were impressed across the board. Everything was flavorful, had just the right amount of spice, and came out steaming hot. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant, which felt lively and friendly. It was very busy, with a line out the door by the time we left, so reservations are a good idea!

We ordered: - Burmese Garlic Noodle (plain) - Basil Lemongrass Chicken - Burmese Style Red Curries Chicken - Coconut Rice The garlic noodles were good, although not my personal favorite out of everything we ordered.
