It's normally four stars for me but this time was a bit flat. Blue Mango is kind of an interesting mash-up spot, leaning somewhere between Japanese and Korean. It's casual and easy to drop into if you're in the Coleman area. The standout for me is still the crab fried rice. It's flavorful and easily the best thing we had. The rainbow roll was good too, especially if you like sushi rolls that are both savory and sweet. The garlic noodles were underwhelming. They were thin vermicelli noodles all stuck together and mushy with some fresh garlic mixed in; very flat. Overall, it was a mixed bag, but if you go, stick with the crab fried rice and you'll probably leave happier.

I finally had a chance to try this restaurant. Loved the music that they were playing. I wanted to jump to my feet and dance. A friend and I had their sampler appetizer and ordered 1 side of rice. It was a perfect portion for 2. My favorite was the coconut prawns. The food tasted fresh and dipping sauces were tasty. My friend ordered a mango soda which was not too sweet and great flavor. Cute decor! Service was definitely below average. Definitely worth coming back. Happy to be able to get a discount on my bill by using my Passport credit card.

Tldr value and tasty Thai food I randomly found this place and decided to try it with my family. We were not super hungry so we just ordered two dishes: mango curry and pad thai. We were very pleasantly surprised by nothe the flavor and the portion size of the food. The pad thai was very flavorful and the sauce they used to try it was really good. Most other pad thai places I have been to tend to be on the sweeter side but this was very savory and well balanced. The mango curry tasted more average but the mango chunks were interesting. I wasn't really a fan but my family enjoyed it.

Blue Mango is located in the San Jose Market Center next to Trader Joe's. Parking is challenging in this ultra busy plaza. Interesting concept of Thai and Japanese Sushi. The inside is decorated like a Thai Restaurant, though, you can see the Sushi Bar and refrigerated display case for the assorted fish. They currently offer a BOGO for their Basil & Chili Stir-Fry: choice of protein (chicken) w/ bell pepper & onion. Choose your spice level 1-10 (3.5/5). They used chicken breast meat, in their flavorful sauce. Thai Ice Tea (4/5). Not too sweet, but creamy. Pretty standard. The service was nice and friendly.

IMHO Generally good food. I eat here often. I wanted to try new dishes this time. Loved the 6-piece Cha Cha wings! Didn't like the Peanut chicken salad. Chicken was horribly dry. Won't order again. Seaweed salad refreshing. Combo pad thai good.

Update from vegetarian reviewer: I visited the restaurant again after about 5 years yesterday and I definitely want to update my review. Happened to try a bunch of things yesterday in a big group and it was a good experience for the most part. 1. Veg papaya salad tasted refreshing, maybe 3.5/5. 2. Roti curry - curry was on the sweeter side but great, roti was oily and not crispy. I wouldn't recommend this dish here. 3. Dynamite- spicy and yum, a great try for vegetarians 4. The other deep fried sushi was not worth it, also too sweet. 5. Creme cheese wonton- crispy and simple, this was great. 6. Green curry - yum, it's a great order too 7. Drunken noodles was a good order too - spicy and appetizing. 8. Red curry- was good too There was one sever taking care for about 5-6 groups and she did a great job. The restaurant has few tables and chairs so it's not easy to find a place on a busy day. Loads of parking available in the lot where the restaurant is, even on a busy day.

    Chicken Pad Thai

Absolutely delicious Pad Thai--honestly, it might be the best I've had in the area. Perfect balance of flavors, fresh ingredients, and cooked just right. Service was fast, friendly, and very attentive. Everyone was so kind and made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back!

I got Yellow Curry, family got sushi. Best of both worlds, waitress was on point - where can you go where the staff has worked 14 years, Blue Mango!!! Crazy. I took a photo of the place, so clean, was able to get seated very quickly. I will definitely be coming back.

I picked up an order for dinner. Pad Thai was good but the "fire wings" defined on the menu as "crispy chicken wings" were so so bad. Not cooked, not crispy at all and flavor such a disappointment. Couldn't eat it. They are very fast with putting the order together...maybe too fast. Prices are too high for what it is.

Maybe we got lucky with the food because both of the dishes we ordered were delicious. The "Blue Mango Fried Rice" with chicken and sweet garlic pork had perfectly fried rice with the grains being fluffy rather than oily and tasted fragrant too. The mango poke bowl had a good amount of tuna, salmon, mango, avocado, and cucumbers with dried seaweed as well as seaweed salad mixed with lettuce on top of rice. I have no idea what the light orange sauce covering everything was but I'm guessing it was the typical mayo + Sriracha + rice wine vinegar combo I see in recipes. Service was prompt and friendly. We were the only people there around 1 pm on a Saturday. The smell of incense is really strong but I like it. Some people might find it off-putting though. Hoping the restaurant will still be around in the future and we can visit again to try something else.

Ordered from here through a delivery app recently. Had a Panang curry with veggies and Eggplant stir fry with tofu and veggies. The food tasted ok. Though felt the quantity was kind of less for almost $16 per dish.

I also love that they bring out free miso soup as soon as you're seated. The servers are always super friendly and attentive. Forgot to take photos of the Sake Don, Chirashi and Sashimi plates, only remembered taking photo of the first roll order that came out. The roll was just ok. The rice was a bit too soft, more like rice cake. Considering the sauces that were on that roll, it was fairly bland. The fish slices were thick and fresh enough to not have strong fishy aftertaste even though we had quite a lot of them. The chirashi bowl and sashimi plate came with the same exact fish selection: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore/white tuna (I think), mackerel, and escolar. Yes, this place is one of those that has escolar. It didn't register in my mind at first until I ate a couple of pieces, I thought it was pretty good, but then I remembered what I read about that fish ... We quickly finish up, pay, and drove home with minutes to spare. Price to quality is decent compared to other sushi place, I have had better sushi at similar price point but it is not bad at all. Payment and tipping practice still with paper bill that was left on the table for us to fill.

This isn't your fancy date-night sushi spot, but it definitely feels like the kind of neighborhood staple families can come back to during the week. The interior is fun and well put together, and the menu has enough variety for different tastes and ages. They even have a few kid-friendly options, which isn't something you always find at sushi restaurants. One of the standouts for us was the smoked sashimi served on a salt rock. It was a fun presentation and tasted great. The sashimi in general was also cut very generously, with noticeably larger pieces than what we typically get at other sushi restaurants. The oysters were also excellent. Service was great throughout our visit, the food was good, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Most importantly for us, it was very family-friendly. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to.

We also had the Sushi + Sashimi + Roll Combo. I really liked the spicy tuna roll, but I thought the rest of the fish quality on the nigiri and sashimi wasn't anything crazy. Spicy tuna roll 2. Spider roll 3. Rainbow roll 4. Tiger roll 5. Miso soup 6. Seaweed salad We also ordered Asahi beer and hot sake. The food was very good and we gave a solid 10/10 (the ratio of rice to filling was well balanced), the hot sake was smooth, and the beer was very cold. Everything was priced well compared to other sushi restaurants. Most rolls we ordered ranged from $6.95 to $13. Staff were very nice and attentive. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Two things I want to highlight:: (1) the restaurant closes at 9pm, and stops serving new clients at 8:45pm. Keep this in mind if you arrive past 8pm and (2) the receipt calculated the recommended tip based on total amount (including taxes) but tip should be calculated before taxes. Either way, we greatly enjoyed our first time experience and we will be back again.

The service was really good though. Food came out fast both times after ordering. The gentleman that was helping our table was very kind and attentive. He kept coming by to check on how everything was going. The food itself was pretty good, but there is a lack of consistency from last year compared to this year. I did not want to make a fuss about it at the restaurant, but I was quite disappointed with the quality of the fish. It wasn't as fresh this time. The restaurant has a cozy vibe. There's 30 minute parking available at the front of the restaurant. It is all street parking. The first time I was here we ordered: -Dragon Roll -Beef Roll -Gyoza -Chicken Karaage -Fried Calamari -Salmon Maki -Salmon Avocado -Double Double Salmon -49ers Roll Second Time Order: -Alaska Roll -Salmon Maki -Rock n Roll -Chicken Karaage appetizer -Fried Calamari appetizer -Golden California Roll -Dragon Roll -Salmon Avocado The Alaska roll according to the menu has spicy cooked salmon, cucumber, topped with unagi sauce and tobiko. The unagi sauce seemed to be more at the bottom than drizzled at top, but the waitress was kind enough to ask me if I wanted some of the unagi sauce on the side, which was very nice. It made a big difference in terms of flavor. Eating the Alaska roll without the extra unagi sauce, I was only able to taste the Sriracha. By the way, it did not mention on the menu that the Alaska roll was going to have both spicy mayo and Sriracha on it. I'm not a fan of Sriracha. The spicy mayo I can do, but the Sriracha ruined it for me. The dragon roll was ordered last year and this year. Please see the photos for how inconsistent the roll is. There were more ingredients the first time we ordered this roll. There was more avocado last year. The gyozas were pretty good. They came out hot and crispy, but not dry. They had a good amount of flavor. The beef roll had asparagus and beef in it. It's a pretty good combination. The chicken Karaage was good both times, but I did notice it was juicier when we ordered it last year. The salmon maki was much better last year than when I ordered it this year. I am not sure if a different person was making the rolls, but the rolls didn't fall apart last time like it did today. Most importantly though, the salmon was fresher the first time I had it. They definitely changed something other than the appearance. It was also pretty upsetting that the pieces of salmon maki were uneven. Only 2 of the pieces were tall, whereas last year, I was given all 6 pieces that had the same height. It makes it look like the sushi I got today was less. I had all the photos of the sushi from last year on my old phone, so I wasn't able to show the waiter or the owner the comparison. The rock n roll is a good portion, but there was barely any bbq eel in it. It was literally just a little tiny piece in the corner of the sushi. I do appreciate that the avocado is fresh and creamy in the rolls that we ordered. 49ers roll - is one of my go to rolls for something light and refreshing. The lemon slices add a really nice touch. I love that the lemon is thinly sliced and the rind was actually included. It adds a bit of tartness to the flavor, which I find satisfying. The salmon was very fresh. I only ordered it last year and not this time since my husband and I were at a prior event that had food, but we were still craving sushi lol. The fried calamari was good, but this time that we got it, the portion was significantly smaller. I'm not sure why. It has good texture and crispiness. There was also a piece of calamari that ended up in our chicken Karaage, which we didn't know what it was at first, but later found out it was calamari lol. No complaints about the Double Salmon Roll. If you love raw salmon, more raw salmon, avocado and tobiko, that one is a good option. The Golden California roll was okay. We felt like it had too much batter though. Salmon Avocado roll was a lot better the first time we were here as well. I don't know if their raw fish supplier changed or something, but the salmon definitely didn't taste the same. I know it's been a year and some may think how do I remember? I'm a sushi fanatic/connoisseur. When I eat sushi and it's good, I have a little happy dance that I do. First time I was here I did the happy dance and that's why I wanted to come back here again. The prices are very affordable here and the service is great. However, I was pretty disappointed today (8/8/2026) with the presentation of the rolls and the freshness of the salmon or lack of freshness I should say. I would love to come back again, but I just don't want to be disappointed. I'm really hoping to have a better food experience here in the future.
