First time trying out Urban after being a long time Tender Greens fan. It's great!! I went with my classic Ahi tuna plate with mashed potatoes and the portions are actually huge. The tuna itself was meaty and I could taste the sear on it. Mash potatoes were soft with an herby gravy on the side. I'm a bit sad they didn't have any arugula on the menu but got the beet salad instead. I love beets and they had a solid soft chew to it. Stephanie was super fun at the counter. This was my first time at this particular urban plates at Santana Road. I've been to the one in Sunnyvale a handful of time. All I really wanted was hummingbird cake and some coffee but I knew I needed something more substantial for lunch. Lol so I got the Aji seared tuna and had it well done. I got a side of mushrooms and country potatoes. To my surprise the country Potatoes had blue as well as Yukon gold and regular potatoes in the mixture! Wow! I was very impressed!! The server was incredibly polite with us since my girlfriend and I were meeting up after not hanging out for two years and we couldn't figure out what we wanted! Once we got our food, everything tasted delicious and my girlfriends like their salad and sandwich sandwiches. The ambience was very open and friendly. Everything was clean and very well organized! I wouldn't mind coming back here again for lunch. I definitely loved the hummingbird cake as well as the giant slice they gave me!! The place is spacious with many tables. There are seating outside the restaurant as well. Came here for a late lunch with a friend. There was no line, however, the two workers at the front just ignored us while they were busy working behind the counter. We waited for about 10 mins before someone acknowledged us and asked if we were ready to order. Not good customer service to begin with. We ordered the Grilled Chicken plate (with chimichurrii sauce) and the Roasted Barramundi Seabass plate. The grilled chicken is moist and the chimichurri sauce is very good. For the harrisa lime cauliflower, it's a bit too salty and too much lime. The roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic glaze is pretty good. My friend said the roasted barramundi seabass is good but the rainbow carrots and golden beets side dish is greasy. It's pretty pricey for the portion size. For adding a side of protein to a salad (that doesn't come with any protein) such as grilled chicken, it's another $10 that is expensive. Had a grilled steak salad delivered for lunch. In the picture of the salad on the DoorDash menu, the steak looks nicely cooked medium rare. When I received my salad, most of the pieces were well-done with a few medium. It was disappointing. There is an option to select well-done when ordering, but I didn't select it. The salad itself was pretty unexciting, too, with just mixed greens and coconut roasted cashews. That was partly my fault because I had them hold the mango salsa and jicama. I added red onions and avocado from my own kitchen and that helped liven it up. I also discovered if I dipped the steak in the salad dressing it tasted better. The salad dressing was honey Dijon, but it tasted more like thousand island. That's okay, I like thousand island. The best part of the salad was the coconut roasted cashews. Wow, they were delicious. I don't think I'll order that again for delivery. If I have it again, it will be in person so I can send it back if the steak is well-done. DoorDash gave me a partial refund this time. read more

Came to pick up our pre-ordered Turkey Family Meal yesterday. We got it once the year before from a different location and liked it a lot. While I enjoyed cooking for my family last Thanksgiving, I missed how much more relaxed it was when someone else did the cooking and I could spend more time with my family doing other things. We had ordered Thanksgiving meals from a number of other places over the years, but they would all require re-heating. It's a no-brainer to order from Urban Plates again this year as their meal was hot and ready to eat and it would be just for 3 adults. Price of the family meal had only increased slightly compared to 2 years ago (about $118 after surcharge and tax). I placed a separate order for two slices of pie to be picked up at the same time, too. Street parking was easy a little before 6:30pm. There was no line for pickup and the food (one big bag for the family meal, and one small bag for the pie slices) were already on a table near the back inside the restaurant. The bags were clearly marked with my name. The food smelled really good in the car, and was still warm when we got home. The turkey breast was moist, the Brussel sprouts were really tasty, and not bitter at all. The mashed potato was not bad. The bread and the stuffing were a little brand, though. Adding gravy to them did help, fortunately. We had enough leftover for another person as the meal was supposed to serve 4. We warmed up the apple pie slice, and shared it with ice cream. A perfect sweet ending to our meal. We're too full to even try the pumpkin pie slice, and had to save it for another day. I would consider ordering a Thanksgiving meal from Urban Plates again for the convenience. read more

There just seemed to be a lot of dysfunction of not knowing what to do. There were times where they would check on orders but then leave the register empty so customers coming in just stood there until they came back. I got a text that my order was getting bagged but it just never came out and no one was there to check. Everyone was just in the back bagging up orders and seemed like patrons dining in were a bit ignored as well as I saw multiple people have to go back and ask for their food or other items. I finally got my order along with about 4/5 other people at the same time not knowing when they actually placed their order. This was about 4:50 before I got my food. My feedback is to have a better system for this as I had my wife and child waiting and this isn't what I would expect from an online ordering system with an ETA on when to get my food. read more

They are located in Santana Row near Maggiano's and Palmetto. They have a wide variety of menu options, but we got the braised beef and mushrooms and the chimichurri grilled steak. It's order at the counter, get a number and then they bring it to your table. It was 22.95 for my plate. It was a small portion of steak but perfectly cooked and the chimmuchuri sauce was amazing. I just got this for dinner via delivery from foodie earth which is the best food delivery service in the Bay. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and brussel sprouts. I was shocked how good the Brussel sprouts and fries were!!! The fries were fresh cut cooked to perfection with Parmesan and truffle. They came with a delish dipping sauce. The gentleman behind the counter kindly welcomed me and explained how the ordering works. I decided on the seared wild ahi tuna. It came with my choice of two sides. I chose the hummus and pita chips and a side salad. I also ordered an iced tea. I was given a number to place at my table so that they can deliver my food to me. I chose a comfy booth inside. They do have outdoor seating, but the sun was hitting that area pretty hard, so I chose to sit inside. They have an area for self serve drinks and silverware. I filled up my iced tea and got my utensils and waited for my food. My food came out fast. The young man who brought my food was very kind and attentive. He also got me a to go cup to fill up when I left, which I thought was so nice. They have the best customer service. My food was excellent. The Brussels were roasted great albeit on the more oily side but I love balsamic so the glaze really balanced it out. The marble potatoes were delicious with crispy skin and a consistent bite. Urban Plates did not disappoint -- especially when you are on a diet! We ordered the surf & turf which consists of the grass-fed steak and garlic shrimp. We added the chimichurri sauce to the steak for an additional $1. For sides I got the house salad (least amount of calories at 110) and the quinoa. It also comes with a piece of bread and a lemon wedge for the shrimp which is nice. The flavors were on point for everything, and they all complemented each other! They have a variety of different sides to choose from, but I did notice that they didn't have any vegetable medley / seasonal vegetables combination. Not a huge problem though since there's many else. My only other nitpick would be the price, to which it amounted to $70+ including tip and tax which is a bit steep compared to say, Tender Greens. We both ordered the chimichurri steak plate but my fiancé picked the mashed potatoes with brussel sprouts and I chose roasted potatoes with brussel sprouts. We decided to also get a side house salad and a beet salad. The food came out fresh and the perfect portion. The quality of the food is what really stood out.
