Overall I loved the salad, especially the variety of ingredients like edamame, roasted peanuts, carrots, and green onions. Everything tasted fresh and delicious ... except the steak. They do allow you to customize your salad, which I love. I opted for 100% romaine and added corn. Yum. The sesame dressing it came with was good, but not my favorite. You reach into your refrigerator and pull out some romaine, a mostly empty can of corn, and a cold half breast of a rotisserie chicken. The seasoning situation is dire, but fortunately you find a packet of caesar salad dressing in the back of your cheese drawer. Tear up a $20 bill, and you will have perfectly replicated the Good Salad experience. Added one star because the watermelon drink was not bad. I'm not sure when salads got to be over $20, but it was refreshing to see them range from $14-$15 here, while including meat - even steak! They have a variety of already composed salads as well as a BYO menu. The BYO option might run you a little more if you select steak, but they start at $15 and offer a good variety of toppings. Ingredients are fresh and salads are filling! Great make your own salad spot. Located in some back alley, hole in the wall. You wouldn't think much of it if you randomly walked by, but this salad spot is really great! The decor is reminiscent of a Jamba Juice, but feels obviously more health conscious and has a nice vibe to it. The salad portion felt pretty generous and the staff was really accommodating for a place you order while standing. I wasn't a fan of their wild watermelon juice as it was fixed with some greens that really took the sweetness out of the drink, but everything else about this place slaps for me. Grateful for this cute salad place in downtown Campbell. They have half a dozen signature salads, and you can also custom make your own salad and choose from many ingredients. I ordered the Samurai Steak salad which had a nice medley of vegetables and dressing. The cut pieces of steak were well-done and looked pale, leaving me to wonder it it was boiled in the boiling process. The dressing helped give flavor. Ordering online was really easy and the menu is small with a "make your own option" so choosing my order wasn't overwhelming at all. Once I placed my order, I headed out to pick it up. Parking is challenging as there's no dedicated lot so if street parking is full, you may need to park a few blocks away in one of the parking structures. Thankfully I found a spot right in front. Note that this location plus tucked in the rear of the building so if you're not familiar with the area, you may walk past it a few times. It's the old Brown Chicken Brown Cow location. My order was ready to go when I got there so I was in and out very quickly. Cute store front with bright welcoming colors, super clean dining area and an outdoor patio for when the weather gets a little warmer. Customer service was excellent and with my bag in hand, I took my order back home. Here's what I ordered: BLAZING CHICKEN SALAD - super fresh and the chicken was juicy had good flavor. I loved the crunchy onion strings and the perfect scoop of avocado. This came with the Chipotle ranch dressing but I also ordered the plain ranch as well. Both were tasty but I think I liked the basic ranch the best. HOMEMADE FOCCIA - soft, fluffy goodness with great flavor. I drizzled a bit of the balsamic glaze over it and holy yum! Note on the prepackaged dressings - these are all made in house and packaged so for those who thought they were purchased elsewhere, that's incorrect. They package them up fresh in mass quantities to save on time, waste and spillage! My goal this year is to eat more salads so I'll absolutely be back however not more than once a week since these babies are pretty pricy. Salad + bread + tip was over $20. Portions are decent but not huge. If you're looking to share a salad, I'd suggest adding extra protein to plump it up a bit. read more

I went in yesterday to the Campbell location because I was looking for a good salad bar to try, and I decided on a whim to try The good salad since I had never been before. I ended up having a really great experience because of the service. I have a nut allergy, so ordering salads can be a little stressful since a lot of places have toppings like almonds or peanuts. The person helping me, I think her name was Jen or Jennifer (she had glasses on), was very attentive and made me feel comfortable right away. She took the time to walk me through the ingredients and made sure I knew what was in the salad before it was made. I ended up getting the Cali Caesar, and she explained that it normally comes with toasted almonds. She helped me adjust it and made sure the salad was prepared carefully. I really appreciated that she did not make me feel like I was being difficult or holding up the line. She was patient, friendly, and paid attention to the details. The salad itself was fresh and filling, but what stood out most was how thoughtful the service was. It is not always easy to find places where staff take allergies or food sensitivities seriously, so I really appreciated the extra care. Ever since that Yelp Elite Event, I've had a hankering for The Good Salad every now and then, but I've always had it DoorDashed just because they were so out of the way for me. Now that they're open in Campbell, it's been sort of a godsend for me. I'm at Khartoum every Sunday for NFL Football, and when I walk the Farmer's Market during halftime, it's good to know that The Good Salad will always have my order ready quick and fresh. First, the bad. The Good Salad is located sort of in the heart of Downtown Campbell, and it's sort of hidden. I didn't know where it was until I saw the sandwich board across the street from Retro Fix, and then you have to go through a random alley to find the storefront. This is probably the reason why everytime I've been here, there's no customers. I hope that doesn't mean they're doing bad, because they deserve to benefit. Secondly, and maybe this is something I should just tell them when I order -- they have a habit of putting the sauce and dress packets IN the box. For some reason or another, the sauce packet is always in the middle of the salad and I have to do dig it out with my hands. That's gross. Nobody wants to do that. It would be better if they just separated these shakeables and kept them out of the box, or tape them the top. Again, I can probably just ask, but this is just a weird practice overall. Anyway, I've had everything. They're all good. Samurai Steak is probably my favorite, but also let that be known -- not every salad is healthy. And just because it says halal doesn't mean it's healthy. If you have to, customize your order. They'll do it for you. read more

Went up north for a road trip and was craving something healthy. Found the good salad on yelp and decided to give it a try. Thank God I went on the website and figured out it's ordering online and picking up at a window not really a place to sit and eat. We ended up going to both locations in San Jose during this trip . One is in a food hall, which was amazing and the other one is a pick up window. There are some picnic tables outside the pick up window, but we just ate it in our car. Combination of salad was so good. Everything was fresh amazing and so tasty. We ordered four different kinds of salads and loved them all. The best part is that you can customize your salad on the website as well, and even when you swap proteins it adjust the price accordingly . I so wanted this place to be amazing, but alas it fell short. The positives ... service is friendly and efficient. The facility is spacious (it was the old Brown Chicken, Brown Cow place). The seating areas are well spaced out, it's minimal decor and bright, thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. The less positive... while the amount of salad is ample. The salad dressing is prepackaged (at least on to go orders), there is no plain chicken breast ... it's seasoned with something and was very, very dry (inedible). The to go box is ok, but as there is an ample amount of food in there, it's difficult to add the dressing and shake up the contents. Also, one packet of dressing is not enough. Something is off with the ratio, though maybe dining in it all works out fine. Probably won't return :( read more

Had been wanting to try this place since hearing about their amazingly high yelp ratings ie "#8 in the country." Bottom line: very nice place, but we weren't blown away. I tried the top selling blazing bird chicken salad. It came in one of those large patchwork wooden salad bowls we all had in the 70s and 80s. I asked that the two dressings be added and tossed as it was a "for here" order. It was excellent but my friend and I both thought there was too much dressing. I'll ask for a bit less next time. The portion size was fine, not especially generous and somewhat smaller than I expected. The patio at this Campbell location was delightful.
