I've always really enjoyed coming to Aqui after checking out their other locations in the South Bay. They have a pretty decent plant-based menu with items that can be made vegan, which gives someone like me a lot of choices to pick from. For lunch, I ordered their Cauliflower Bowl and subbed out the dairy for a mango dressing that was vegan. I also ordered a side of their black bean dip which was a standout at the other location. The staff were so friendly and took the time to look through their official allergen menu to make sure my meal was fully plant-based. The cauliflower dish was an excellent decision. Crispy veggies over a bed of cilantro rice with beans, pico, avocado, etc. made this a wonderful lunchtime meal. My black bean dip also proved to hold up and I enjoyed it with their tortilla chips. I also really appreciate how affordable pricing is here compared to the rest of the South Bay. My bowl was less than $15 and the side dip was $8, and with everything being sharable, I left like I had gotten a great deal. Venue wise, this shop is probably my favorite of the locations I've frequented. Lots of open seating, beautiful decor, and a clean restaurant make this a great spot to dine in or out. read more

It was as busy and fun as ever, and the food tasted as fresh and happiness-inducing as a crisp springtime morning. Aqui Cal-Mex always delivers, but this visit really hit. I usually go straight for their burrito, but this time I switched it up and tried the Adobo chicken bowl and it was fire. Perfect balance of flavor, hearty without feeling heavy, and layered in a way that keeps every bite interesting. We also ordered two margaritas and they did not disappoint. Strong, smooth, and exactly what you want when you're settling in for a relaxed night out. The space itself is really well designed. The sectional bar layout gives it energy without feeling cramped, and there are plenty of little pockets and seating areas so you can choose your vibe, whether you want bar-top action or something more tucked away. Aqui has been a staple from the very first day they opened their doors in Willow Glen decades ago! Quality has remained the same, our favorites have remained the same - but they keep adding fun new options on the menu. Swirls are always an interesting choice for a night out - go easy on them - I finally grew out of my swirl days, but still enjoy a nice margarita, modelo or WINE - believe it or not they have some good choices in wine too! Only pet peeve - the tortilla chips have been bad from day 1, they remain bad, and yet I eat them. I like what you dip them in, but I would never choose this type of chip, like ever. Loveeee aqui's. They are great for a casual dinner or catch up with friends. The food is so tasty and well balanced with veggies. My go to is the crab cake enchiladas or the crab cake bowl (anything with the crab cake!). Of course you have to get a swirl too. They have 6 oz or 12 oz options. My favorite so far has been the coconut strawberry soju swirl. Service is fast and friendly. There is ample seating but they do get busy during the weekend for dinner. read more

We strictly order online from Aqui. I can only say is I wish they were most consistent in the preparation of their food. They're online ordering experience has improved with now limited options to modify your order like 'no aioli' etc but not all entrees have that feature. The consistency issue is with preparing their fish. They tend to seriously overcook their salmon and even their Mahi. Today I had their panko coated Mahi and it was like shoe leather and the zucchini was raw and crunchy. Last week, I had the salmon and it was like sand paper. The rice was good and usually the sauces are pretty good. Hopefully in the future we will be able to add special requests on each order. Considering 90% of the entrees have aioli, slaw with aioli or avocados, it limits someone who can't eat those items. read more

We were in downtown Campbell and was looking around the area for a lunch spot that we could walk to. We decided to go with Aqui Cal-Mex, since they had an outdoor patio for our dog. There are a couple of registers at the front to order at and they'll give you a buzzer once you pay for the order. The self service sauce bar was nice, I got three sauces on the side to try. They have quite a large menu, I decided to go with the adobo chicken lime-avocado bowl. The bowl was decent, it was a good portion of food and everything tasted good. Overall, it was a decent spot for lunch. However, it's not a restaurant that I would go out of my way for. 3.5 stars. read more

I came here for a friend's moving away party, and since I drove down to South Bay, I ordered a low proof sunrise swirl and a bowl of chips. I thought it was really cool they offered low proof and no proof alternatives, which still carried the same flavours as the standard industrial swirl drinks. My drink tasted really good. The chips were average but an alright snack. Can't beat the prices though. What really got to me was how loud the environment was. I thought since it was a restaurant, it would be a more chill atmosphere than a straight up bar or club, but unfortunately, it was so loud inside that I had to yell to be heard and started coughing and losing my voice. read more

The staff at this location all seem particularly friendly, which makes it pleasant all around. Salads are amazing. They also typically have something with sweet potatoes or other potatoes, and the flavors are excellent. Busy, but I always find a table, so don't be daunted if you find a line. read more

I typically come here for their swirlies, which are great and strong! However, I do enjoy their food sometimes because they give you big portions and they are not too heavy. The items I've tried do not use a lot of oil. I got the pork carnitas burrito with their soup of the day, which was a tortilla soup. The staff is very kind, they clean up after you eat even though you order and pick up at the front. There's plenty of seating and in a nice location in downtown Campbell. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews at all but in this case I have to. I ordered the fried cauliflower supreme bowl yesterday and it was both unappetizing and I believe it gave me food poisoning. The rice/beans/cauliflower were decent for the price but the guacamole on top was the worst guac I've ever had to the point I almost spit it out (it tasted strongly floral, like perfume for some reason). The food also was cold in many parts and didn't seem to be reheated adequately. I was only able to finish half of my meal before giving up because I couldn't get the guac off the rest of the food. Then this morning I woke up with awful nausea and other food poisoning symptoms. I really can't recommend this place at all since the food was so bad and probably made me sick. read more

Aqui remains a shining star in the local fast-casual scene. Tonight's small plate or crispy chicken and my husband's Sonoran braised beef were both delicious. I love that they have smaller portions as an option. The monthly special swirl of Jamaica cantarito was perfectly balanced and the weekend special strawberry punch was exactly what my husband wanted. The Special meal of the Day keeps it fun. After placing the order, we were given the buzzer that alerts us to pick up the order. The chicken adobo burrito is super good, and pretty big, the side soup was yummy too, not authentic Mexican food in the slightest but my friends and I enjoy going here for quick food and strong drinks. Lots of different options to choose from both food and drink wise. Large salsa bar with variety as well. I haven't been here in years. I think the last time I came was quite literally like forever ago and I also haven't been to the Cupertino location in forever like years!!! YEARS!!! somehow not a lot has changed! The staff is really nice and the portion size is great for the price. I didn't realize they do nonalcoholic swirls now and that's awesome. My friend and I each got a swirl and our own meal. A few hours later, I felt really sick and had GI issues and so did she. Maybe it was just an off day, but it made me a little scared to come back. I didn't experience this before here. This was the only meal we've eaten so far today so I don't think it was anything else. read more

Their drinks are strong! But I love it! They do limit to two per person so that tells you something. ;) They have more of this restaurant chain but this place was closest to us. This place is in an area of many other restaurants and it's hard finding parking here. It's mainly street parking but it's free. I love the ambiance here. Plenty of tables but it gets packed here! I have been here many times with my friends over the years. We always enjoy our time here. This latest visit was no different. A bunch of my co-workers and I were here for an early dinner/snacks before a meeting we had to attend later. Many of us ordered something small - chips, salsa, guacamole, dip, etc - and a few of us had dinner entrees. The chips are addicting, especially if we're sitting and chatting. Most of the dishes I've had here has good flavor. The chocolate cake is delicious! I especially liked the fish I had this last time. Parking is usually easy to find unless you're here during dinner time on the weekend. There's plenty of room for groups inside to find a nook and relax. Good ol' aqui. With each sip of a swirl, memories flood back of college days when we tried to go over their 2 drink minimum or right-after-college days going for a happy hour with some coworkers. Loved seeing that they have really expanded their menu to include so many more swirls flavors! If this is your first time at aqui, a word of warning: those swirls are delicious but they do pack a punch and they WILL creep up on you. Proceed with caution. They don't call it industrial strength for nothing. Also, protip: you can ask to try a sample before you decide which one you'd like! Location wise, this one is pretty central in downtown Campbell which makes it a great place to go for some bar hopping. This is right next to the parking garage which is convenient; but beware, it does get full on crowded days. You can sometimes find parking in the nearby neighborhood if you don't mind walking a bit. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious. They have a good amount of indoor seating, patio seating, and a separate bar area with its own seating as well. Note that it does get pretty crowded here during weekends and evenings so plan ahead to wait a bit. The food is good too. Not amazing, but let's be real - we go here for the swirls. read more

We had family over to celebrate a birthday and decided to order Aqui's takeout because we've enjoyed their food in the past, and they typically have nice options for different dietary needs & preferences (i.e. gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian). Their menu online even highlights their vegan & vegetarian options with little green plant symbols, and some of the regular entrées even say "Ask to remove dairy for a vegan option." Unfortunately, they didn't honor these options that they so clearly show on their menu. My mother-in-law placed our order online but there was nowhere to add a note or choose a "no dairy" or "vegan" option, so we immediately called Aqui's to request that 1 out of the 8 entrées we JUST ordered online be made dairy-free/vegan. They told us over the phone that they could not do that! First of all, everything on the menu says the opposite, and second, all we were asking was to make one of the supreme bowls dairy-free, which all they'd have to do was leave out the cheese and sour cream. The person on the phone even put us on hold to ask again, and came back with "No" again! Are you kidding? So after spending almost $180 on what we hoped would be a great dinner for our family birthday gathering, 2 members of our family who are vegan could not eat their entrée because there was cheese and sour cream all over it (impossible to pick it all off). This was beyond disappointing! We honestly never encountered this problem before at Aqui's. If Aqui's is going to specifically say they have vegan options all over their menu and say specific entrées can be made vegan, you would think that they would stay true to their word and honor that whether you're dining in or ordering takeout. The only reason we even ordered one of their supreme bowls was because it said they could make it vegan (which they clearly didn't) and because they took away a couple of the vegan entrées we used to order, like their vegan burrito. So for those with dietary restrictions or preferences, be aware if you decide to eat at Aqui's. read more

I will give Aqui big stars for speed of service. This is a order and wait place, very trendy. Parking structure next to Aqui is super convenient, good downtown location. So we grabbed a menu, simple enough, interesting selections. You order at the counter and in a few minutes your pager lights up because your meal is ready, waiting on a tray for you to pick up. M went ahead to "find" a table, you might just get lucky like we did with a view of the street outside. We shared a southwest caesar salad and M went with a shrimp bowl and I the pork entree, add a soda and were at $46. There is a good variety of land and seafoods, salads, and main course dinners or samplers. The menu has great descriptions on the entree and what I got was exactly that. It seemed as though all of the ingredients were waiting to get served not cooked to order. The meal was ok, sounded good and it was but certainly not to my expectations. The salad was literally flavorless. M's shrimp was okay but small and good with a bite of other stuff. My pork was tasty and perfectly tender, black beans good but the raw greens... no thanks. This place IS VERY LOUD, you know when that option comes up on the Yelp check-in, there wasn't a button choice for how noisy it is. Well doing the math two stars granted for speed of service and one star for originality of concept and menu, neither of which I consumed. Aqui is one of our go-to restaurants, we eat at either the Campbell or Cupertino locations at least once a month. Food: Tonight I had the "small plates" Shrimp Quesadillas -- plate comes with 2 quesadillas and beans w/salsa, cotija cheese and tortilla strips. Plenty of food, didn't seem small but costs less than $10. They have a really good salsa bar where you can get several types of salsa and I put some of the yummy chipotle dressing on the black beans. Also I got the Monthly Special Swirl flavor, Blueberry Guava which was very good -- I had the "small" size which still packed a punch. Service: You order at the counter, the lady was very friendly and efficient. Ambiance: Can get crowded but I ate early. Highly recommend for delicious fresh take on Cal-mex food. read more

They really chef-a-fied Aqui's. Known for the famous swirl drinks, this place is still poppin'. It is casual, affordable and filling. When I think of Downtown Campbell, Aqui's always comes to mind. I got the wild caught Halibut enchiladas $17. It was delicious with the mango and sauce. It was enough food that I was able to power through the rest of the work day. It is a great place to go with coworkers as you don't have to deal with the dreaded "splitting the bill" because you pay separately at the counter.
