WOW! Luna Kitchen in Campbell is an absolute gem! Hands down, some of the best food I've had in the entire Bay Area. This place is without a doubt becoming a staple for us! The chili verde is OFF THE HOOK! Seriously, so much flavor. The salmon tacos are ridiculously yummy, and don't even get me started on the bread pudding. OUT OF THIS WORLD! Every bite was fantastic. And what makes this place even more special is the people. Alejandro took such wonderful care of us. I've been coming to LUNA Mexican Kitchen since it opened, and this is the first time I've had such disappointing service. I repeatedly tried to get our server's attention, but even when we made eye contact, he looked at me and did not come over to help. Whenever I needed something, he was nowhere to be found. It was frustrating to feel ignored at a restaurant I've supported for years. Thankfully, a manager stepped in to assist me, and she was amazing--attentive, helpful, and kind. I truly appreciated her effort, but she shouldn't have had to step in for basic service. Our server's service was absolutely horrible, and I hope management addresses it so longtime customers don't leave feeling this disappointed. read more

I recently stopped in after watching a movie around the corner. I had a good experience at my last visit but it was also a couple years ago so it's been a while since I've been back. We weren't sure how long the wait would be but we're seated shortly after checking in. No one check in on us for a while once we were seated and the service remained very much the same throughout the entire experience. At some point we got our drinks and immediately ordered in case we didn't see the server again. We got our food after a while. Server did check on us but no refills of water were made. I had the mole poblano pollo and this is by far one of the driest pollo I've had. It tasted like it was cooked in boiling water for 45 minutes. Very little mole and the food all got cold pretty fast. I also tasted the vegan enchilada and the green sauce was very sour and if that was my plate I wouldn't have ate it at all. We each got a mocktail since we all drove but these were all super sweet. The place was busy. Scattered tables inside and the outside was busy. The server came around for the table behind us but we rarely saw him. The combination of the service and the quality of the food made this visit one that wouldn't make me return in the future. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon because I was craving some upscale Mexican food. It was packed, but luckily we were seated within 20-30 minutes. We got in line to put our names on the waitlist, then were told it would be a 45-50 minute wait time, but then we received a text shortly after saying our table was ready. We then waited in a second line to wait for our table. I've never come across a system like this before, but it seems to work for them. I appreciate that they do their absolute best to get everyone seated as soon as possible! We got seated much quicker than expected and placed our orders. Starting off with the cocktails, I enjoyed each drink, but I don't feel that they were super special flavor wise. I still enjoyed them - maybe I didn't order the more popular ones. I should have asked for a recommendation. Next came our appetizers. The chips were delicious but a little too thick. I appreciate that they are homemade though. The green salsa was spicy but it was so good I just tried to ignore my tongue burning . The guacamole was so fresh, the only thing I didn't like was having to squeeze my own lime into it because I didn't wanna make a mess. The elote was actually really good, it wasn't a gentrified version like most places make their elote. Then came our meals. The pozole was exactly what I was craving. I ended up taking most of it home because I ate lots of appetizers, but I'm excited to eat it for dinner today . The rice was cooked perfectly, but I personally don't like vegetables mixed in my rice. Despite my own pickiness, I left the restaurant completely satisfied. Hadn't been here in a minute and desired to check out again recently. Came on a Tuesday evening- the check-in line was able to seat people right away until it was my turn. The host was very kind and made me feel cared for and let me know they would try to get me seated as soon as they could. They put me on the indoor waiting list tho we had a choice to take a small outside table. We opted for indoor and were willing to wait. I really liked how the host followed up with me on this. We only had to wait 5-10 mins and a table was ready for us inside. I've only sat on the patio before so was pleasantly surprised at a booth table inside. It was cozy and lively and had a nice ambiance. Our server came right away and communicated everything he was doing, dropped off waters and chips and said he'd be back. Then came to take our order shortly after. We got the guac to start and i got the. 1/4 lb steak medium rare parilladas which i feel like they're known for. Comes with 2 homemade tortillas, rice and beans and guac,sour cream, pico de gallo topping. Also ordered grilled veggies on the side. My partner ordered the salmon tacos. My parilladas came sizzling with plenty of onions and a nice piece of sweet potatoes. I honestly didnt need the side of veggies. Omg the steak was soo soft and cooked perfectly. I made 2 big tacos with multiple slices of the steak and added the guac, sour cream, and pico. Soo good!! I really liked the side of beans and rice as well. The chips are very fresh and warm. Loved our meal here. This restaurant is located in the center of the Pruneyard. Walk-in's only, they don't do reservations. For a table of 6 outside, the wait was an hour on a Saturday evening. The ambiance was cute and the menu was not overwhelming. Complimentary chips and salsa is what we started with. I ordered the lobster enchiladas, a lychee azul lunarita and had some of the ceviche. It was delicious! It's also dog friendly and ordered my pup a side of chicken which he loved. Our service was OK, could be improved. Perfect for a night out with friends! I came here on a Saturday night around 7pm, and it was absolutely packed - as expected of the Pruneyard. The parking area was full, but there's people going in and out pretty frequently. There was a 1-hour wait for a table at Luna, but we found some spots at the bar for some drinks and appetizers before getting seated. I got the prickly pear Lunarita frozen margarita which was perfect to get the night going! I also tried my friend's mango Lunarita, and it was yummy as well. The bartender is super fun and friendly! For apps, we got ceviche, guacamole, and a quesadilla. 30 minutes in, we were alerted that our table was ready, which was way before the original 1-hour estimate :-), so we had our apps at our table. We were seated outside, and it was cool and breezy, and the bustling restaurant was filled with conversations. Such a vibe! The appetizers were super good - their chips are seasoned with a tinge of spice and were crunchy. The guac was smooth and creamy, the ceviche was super fresh and aromatic, and the quesadilla was soft and gooey. For my main, I got the lamb barbacoa, which was INCREDIBLY tender and juicy and literally so delicious. Melts in your mouth and super good with the corn tortilla. The table got the mole enchiladas and lobster enchiladas, all of which got high praise. If you're looking for a semi upscale Mexican restaurant, Luna is a fantastic option. Excellent, but generally very busy. I tried to scope out the place on the first night of a trip, and it was completely overwhelmed with people. I stopped by the following night and found a place at the bar. The staff were extremely helpful. The space is nicely decorated. The food is really nicely done, even in the context of vegetable forward dishes. In terms of food, I ordered the Chile relleno de calabacitas, and it was excellent. A nice portion of tart tomato sauce, plus rice and beans. Plus a nicely done relleno that didn't lean too hard into the concept of a deep fried orb of whipped egg whites. There's not anything wrong with the traditional version, but this felt a touch lighter. It was really nicely assembled. I'll also note that the house chips and salsa were extremely well done. The chips were clearly prepared in house. The salsas were flavorful and interesting. It was an excellent spread. Beer options were somewhat lacking: just Mexican lagers, but that's mostly just par for the course. That's what they're aiming for. All told, this was an excellent destination, it's pretty clear why it seems to be packed on a regular basis. read more

Mex dining at Luna was the payoff for burning 20-30 min finding parking in the Pruneyard. We strolled in past the long wait line to nab two remaining bar stools at the outside bar. Our bartender (Albaro?) was slammed yet attentive to our arrival, and provided cheerful service. Me and a colleague split Chips, Guac, Queso (fundido-like), Yellowtail Crudo, and the Bacon Wrapped Camarones, all washed down w a couple Margs. Super good. Came here on two different occasions! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but it does get busy at lunch and dinner times. You can also check out the bar to see if there are empty spots and then you can get seated right away (I didn't know this!). Starting with appetizers, every table gets a complimentary chips and guac which is refillable and very delicious. The chips are very fresh and crispy which pairs well with both sauces. For the entree, my favorite is the salmon bowl. It has salmon, broccolini, sweet potato, quinoa, etc. which all pairs really well together. It's definitely a nutritious meal worth the price. I was surprised that their cheese quesadilla was so good - the flour tortilla is extra crispy and the sour cream, guac and salsa all go well with the pieces. Also another dish worth the price! For the drinks, they have a watermelon seasonal agua fresca and margarita. The watermelon juice is so tasty and refreshing for the summer. Dropped in impromptu for our anniversary - it was a weekday night, and there was no wait to dine outdoors. We've always seen a long line here on weekends. Outdoor dining is charming with ambient lighting and a nearby heat lamp to keep us comfortable. Service was friendly but intermittently slow. The complimentary chips and salsa were yummy. Chips were on the oilier side but they gave 3 different types of salsa with varying spice levels and were all delicious! Per server's recommendation we got the chico size mixed grill parrillada to share. The accompanying rice and beans were flavorful and good, and it came with guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and 4 tortillas to make your own taco. The grill portion was very generous. Our favorites were the steak fajita (so so juicy, tender, and flavorful), jumbo shrimp, and chicken jalapeño sausage (so flavorful). We didn't enjoy the chicken and ribs as much, since we felt they were very dry and lacking flavor. It was still a great experience to try everything, and now we know what meats are our favorite so we can just get individual parrillada with add-ons next time! Based on the meat quality, portion, and flavors, we felt that our meal was well worth the cost. There's also an extensive drink menu of wines and cocktails - very ideal spot for a cute date night! I came on a Friday for a party of 7 for a birthday and it was packed! They estimated about 30 minutes, but got a text within 5-10 minutes! It was so hard deciding was to get but went with the cochinita pibil with refried beans instead of black beans and a regular margarita. We also ordered the Guacamole with Chicarrones alongside the complimentary chips and salsa. The guac was so good and I don't usually like guac! The chips were also fresh and so good! The cochinita pibil was 3.8/5 for me. It was good but it wasn't out of this water for me. I wish there were more flavor explosions but that's just me! In this case because we were a large group we went with one of their PARRILLADAS which is a variety of meats and l comes with rice, beans, grilled onions, tortillas, salsa/guac/sour cream. Sizes are as follows- Chico - for 2 Mediano - for 4 Grande - for 6 Enormous - for 8 And we chose the Mixed Grill option which has cheese chile relleno sweet potato Niman Ranch carnitas Mary's free-range chicken breast all-natural hormone-free steak fajita Niman Ranch St. Louis rib wild bacon-wrapped shrimp jumbo wild garlic butter shrimp chicken jalapeño sausage So so much food but everything was delicious! I decided to stop by Luna Mexican Kitchen on a whim after finishing a workout class in the same plaza, and I am so glad I did. Even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday, the energy was fantastic and we were still well taken care of. We ordered the breakfast power protein bowl and the baja fish tacos, both of which were delicious. Also, a quick shout-out to the complimentary tortilla chips and the green salsa that came with them is absolutely addictive! What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Let me say that I regret not taking more pictures of my food because everything was so good! But that also means the ambiance was perfect. This is a good place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with friends or family. - I ended up getting the parilla 10/10 for two and it was humongous! Way worth it. Definitely shareable for two and they don't skimp on the protein. - we got a yellow tail app and it was delicious! So spicy tho so be careful if you don't like spice! 10/10! - The queso fundido 9/10 and it was good! A LOT of cheese the only downside was the chorizo was all the way at the bottom and we didn't eat it until the end haha still good! - horchata French toast was delicious! 9/10. My favorite spot! I usually go to the one in downtown but for my birthday we went to the pruneyard location. Parking in the plaza can be tough but there is a parking garage with plenty of parking if you drive past Luna. The wait was around 30 mins on a Friday when we went and it went by pretty fast! The staff is really nice and accommodating. Lots of people were there but it wasn't super loud. My favorite item to get is their guac and the chicharrones. I'm not big on guac either but this guac hits the spot! The food here is always fresh and delicious. I had the Chile Verde and the flavors were 10/10. I just wished it was spicy (just my personal preference). Definitely one of my go to spots and I highly recommend it. Will be visiting again for sure :) read more

What a wonderful Mexican restaurant - the best by far that I have seen in the area. The steak is amazing - so tender and flavorful. They bring out chips and salsa as a starter which are housemade chips with a green (jalapeno) creamy sauce and a red salsa with wonderful flavor. The ambiance is upscale casual sit down with a plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Parking can be a bit difficult on the weekends. They do not take reservations so there can be a pretty good line to get on the list and a shorter line to get to your table. The waiter we had was very attentive and quick with refills as needed. We ordered fruta con chile, veggie grill for individual, enchillada suiza (chicken) and two drinks for 2 people. The portion sizes were enough to be shared by 3-4 people overall so the prices were justified. Choices in vegetarian dishes was really good but there were not enough chicken options.
