Mole Enchiladas, 4 stars. One of the best items of the night!
Scott J.

I love Mexican food, and though this spot had some solid dishes some of the basics were bland. The environment is dark and moody, but the service was not great (we had a blonde waitress who made us feel like we were bothering her the whole night) Guacamole - 3 stars. Bland and lacking flavor, we asked for salt and lime to bring some additional flavor to this flat appetizer. Ahi Tuna Tostadas - 3 1/2 stars. I get this dish every time I visit Mexico City, but the interpretation here was a bit bland and nothing special. Taquitos de Papa - 4 1/2 stars. My favorite dish of the night. This was cooked well and rich in flavor. Side of Refried Beans - 3 stars. Lacked flavor, added copious amounts of salt to this in an effort to give it more flavor. Moljacete de Carne - 4 stars. A huge dish full of meat and chicken, all cooked quite well. This was on the pricey side ($79) but great for a hungry group. Mole Enchiladas - 4 stars. This had a great flavor profile and was my 2nd favorite dish of the night. Sorry to bring it up again, but the service is why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars. We'd ask for things like salt, water, and limes and were given attitude. We asked for knives for a party of 3, our waitress brought us one. I asked for additional take-out containers, that seemed to bother her quite a bit. We tried asking another waitress, Cecilia, for help and she was amazing -- I wish we could have had Cecelia all night, but unfortunately we did not.

El Jefe

Distrito Federal is a cute, small and well decorated Mexican restaurant in downtown Campbell. The place seems clean and the service is welcoming, efficient and friendly. The food unfortunately is a mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some weird. We got the guacamole and chips. For $13 they give you a smallish bowl of guacamole and a tiny bowl of chips. The chips were fine but the guacamole was oily and bland. It needed more seasoning which is going to become a recurring comment. The carne asada fries were just ok. The fries are most likely frozen and prepackaged. They got reheated but were again bland. They got soggy because of the steak, cheese, pico de gallo and other ingredients on top. The carne asada was good and tender but not enough to save this dish. The fish tacos were disappointing. They were served with a generous chunk of fried fish but everything was dripping over the edge of the tortilla, the fish was really fishy and again it was just under seasoned. Rice and beans were served in tiny bowls and were both dry. The quesabirra tacos were actually good. Decently seasoned and greasy as expected. Mole enchiladas had good flavor and a decent amount of shredded chicken. This was possibly the best dish of the night. The El Jefe was decent but it's also an $18 hot dog with the same McDonalds style fries. Again the service was great and I'm willing to give them another chance someday. In fairness the score is somewhere between a 3 and 4 but I chose to round down due to the food.

This place is totally Mexico City-inspired, with a street food vibe that's so cool. The decor is super laid-back and colorful, with lots of bright murals and an urban, artsy feel. It's usually a really upbeat atmosphere. If you're looking for a taste of a lively Mexico City neighborhood, this is definitely the place to be. I had the lobster tacos, and they were absolutely amazing! I couldn't stop eating them. Our waiter was super attentive and always helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We came to Distrito Federal last Saturday night just for drinks. The place was packed, but we were lucky to get a table pretty quickly. I'm giving it 3 stars, not because it was a bad experience, but because there were a few things that could've gone better. First, our server Sophie was lovely, very friendly and attentive. However, there were only two servers working the entire restaurant that night, so service was understandably delayed. Our drinks took quite a while to arrive, and that affected the overall experience. I ordered the watermelon margarita, but it was way too spicy for me. Thankfully, Sophie was super understanding and let me switch it for the blackberry margarita, which I really liked. My partner had the mezcal old-fashioned and he enjoyed it a lot. We didn't order food this time, so I can't speak to the dishes, but the menu looked great, lots of variety and very authentically Mexican. I'm definitely open to coming back to try the food. We did get the churros, but I wasn't a big fan. The caramel (or dulce de leche) that came with them was too light and runny, it didn't really have the rich, thick texture I was expecting. Overall, the vibe was fun and the staff did their best, but due to the delays and the fact that we only ended up having one drink before deciding to head out, I'm giving it 3 stars. I'd still come back, hopefully on a less hectic night, to try more from the menu.

Pineapple mai tai

A friend and I had dinner here recently and it was really great. We had made a reservation and got seated at a nice outdoor patio table. Our waitress was great and came around often but not too often. We asked her some questions about some of the drinks and she gave us some good advice. My friend had the pineapple mai tai and had the red sangria. We both really liked our drinks. My sangria had a nice fruit flavor with a good red wine and vodka. Very berry forward. My friend enjoyed her mai tai. It looked like a fun drink in a pineapple-shaped glass. For entrees, we both had the wild mushroom tacos. We both really liked this dish. The tacos were very flavorful. Loved the side beans and rice as well. A very good dish. I also splurged even though I was full and got the deep fried ice cream for dessert. This was so good. Nice cool ice cream and whipped cream with a crispy shell. Also had a fruit sauce on it that was not my favorite but it overall was delicious. Definitely a good experience overall!

Distrito Federal in downtown Campbell has nice ambiance and service. The decor is super pretty inside and on the walls. We came here for dinner on a weekend night. It's a good spot for drinks, I got the cocktail with sangria and it was pretty good. However, I didn't really enjoy the food. There's not too many vegetarian options but I got cheese quesadillas and loaded frites. The cheese dried up and got hard really fast and the food in general wasn't too flavorful in my opinion. The service is good but the food comes out super slow. The tables are also very small so the food barely fits. The water glasses are also way too small and it's inconvenient having to continuously bother the server to ask for more water. The desserts were plated beautifully but weren't as tasty as I'd hoped either. I got the churros and chocolate lava cake. The churros were too gooey on the inside.

We love coming here for the beet cocktails and small bites. We hadn't been here in a while and we were sad to see that they didn't have the tostadas anymore. We got the crispy chicken tacos, crispy fish tacos, wild mushroom tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty and came with sides of rice and beans. The rice and beans weren't very flavorful though. The crispy fish tacos were my favorite and were spicier than expected, which I love.

I was in town and I love coming to Campbell I found this cute little restaurant/ tapas bar . I actually been here twice now . I love the location I could go have dinner and still come grab a drink or a snack here after or before . They have a cute outside area . The inside is cute and cozy with nice decor . The food was so good I had the Taquitos de papa the potato had amazing flavor. I saw a lot of plates coming out and they all looked delicious I have to come back and try more food . The staff was so attentive and friendly Sergei and Osiel where the mixologist when I went both times I sat at the bar area . They were very knowledgeable they created a drink of my liking that was not on the menu and I loved it . The two times I have gone have been consistent. I really enjoyed my food and drinks here I would definitely come back .

This place is awesome! Small mom & pop place. Very nice & chic. The food was amazing. We had Queasabirria, tacos, street corn app, & churros for dessert. Staff was very friendly. They don't have a parking lot, so you need to find street parking. It is pretty small inside, so not good for a big group. There were 4 in my party, so we had no issues. I will definitely add them to my rotation.

Chips and guac!

4 stars. Great spot for date nights or friend hangouts. The food is tasty and the drinks are unique and flavorful. It is quite pricey but given the location and vibe of the restaurant, the price is expected. This place opens pretty late so it's a nice late night hangout spot. The service was really good and our waitress was very attentive. I would definitely recommend checking this place out for some yummy snacks and drinks.

Head towards this sign for the restroom.

Wonderful and greeting hostess! Dropped in around 6:30 on a Friday evening and there were options at the open seating bar and a high top table available. Had two appetizers (fries + a queso dip with chips) which were both delicious. Numerous cocktails with clever variants are available. Very much appreciate this place - can hear your company and have great conversations in a cool vibe spot.

Celebrated a birthday dinner here. It is both stylish and festive inside - and was also decorated so cutely for the holidays. The food was shockingly good. Large menu with lots of beautiful cocktails and protein choices for tacos. The ceviche ($16) was fresh and beautifully plated and the guacamole ($11) was top notch. The Mole Chicken Enchiladas ($22) were divine. The corn tortillas (which seemed handmade) were filled with yummy chicken and cheese and generously smothered with a sweet, flavorful sauce. The staff were so kind to accommodate for the baby we had with us - even getting the baby a side of mashed avocado :) Nothing special is done for birthdays - but we didn't need more dessert anyways, lol!

Trendy spot in downtown Campbell with a nice moody ambiance. It's a smaller restaurant with limited seating indoors and a small patio. They have an extensive drinks menu with creative cocktails and a small but fairly traditional food menu. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was good, met my expectations for a standard enchilada plate at a sit down Mexican restaurant. Nothing particularly unique but nothing bad either. Portions are ok; was a filling meal but not enough to have leftovers.

Are kids okay?

I assume so, it's pretty much a restaurant.

We have to do a reservation?

Yes reservation

Do they have A/C?

Of course why wouldn't they

Do you accept reservations or walk it only?

They aren't on OpenTable (yet?) and it's difficult to find a phone number but I did find this one: (408) 340-5578. If you find them on Google and click "reservations" it says a Google Assistant will call them to make a reservation for you. So I… Read more

Is there a long wait?

Depends on when you go, it's pretty small inside, there's not a ton of tables so if you were to go during the week odds are it wouldn't be long versus if you went on the weekend it could be long.

Are the beans & rice vegetarian? Can the taquitos de papa be made without cheese?

Always Coca Cola yeahhhh

What do you have that is gluten free?

All of their fantabulous cocktails !!!!😊

Can I make a reservation?

No they don't accept reservations

Do we need reservations?

You don't need a reservation but it is small so making one would be beneficial. We called ahead and asked how busy it was so try calling.

Do they serve wine? Or cocktails and beer only?

Easy ! They have full liquor bar while they specialize in Mexican spirits! They also serve beers and Mexican sodas as well but unfortunately no wine.

Do you have a happy hour?

I don't think so. I went yesterday afternoon and didn't see a happy hour menu and my drinks were full price.
