Complimentary chips and salsa
Diane W.

We had dinner here, a few weeks ago, for the first time. Las Cazuelas is a new family-friendly Mexican restaurant that is located in the Santa Teresa Square shopping center. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table quickly. They have not received their liquor license yet, so we couldn't order margaritas, which was totally fine. We were told they should be getting their license in the next several weeks. We opted for two ice waters. We were brought complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered a small guacamole to start with. The chips and salsa were very good as well as the guacamole. We really enjoyed that. For our main course, my husband ordered the chicken fajitas, and I ordered the two-item combo plate with one crunchy beef taco and one chicken enchilada with red sauce. Within 15 minutes, our orders were delivered to us piping hot. Our kind server brought me two sauces for my taco. One was a green sauce with medium heat, which I liked, and the other was their orange sauce that was extremely hot for me. I only used the green sauce. My husband really loved the orange sauce. My husband loved his fajitas. They were generous with the chicken and veggies. It came with a plate of beans and rice and toppings. My combo plate was just okay. I felt that the flavor was very bland. The beef in the taco had no flavor at all. I actually needed to add salt to everything, which I normally don't do when eating at a Mexican restaurant. The portion size of the taco and the enchilada were very small. The enchilada was made with a corn tortilla with dark meat chicken on the inside. I also felt that there was not much beef in my taco and not a lot of chicken in my enchilada. The red sauce on the enchilada was so bland and needed salt. For $22, I expect to have a decent amount of protein. And that's not what I got here. I think if you're looking for more protein, then the fajitas are the way to go. I, personally, would not order the combo plate again. If I were to come back, I would try something else. But I do feel they need to add more flavor and seasoning to their dishes. Customer service was very good here. Our server was very kind and attentive.

Great customer service, fresh food, chips and salsa! Definitely will be returning. Very spacious and nice decor with a great ambiance and very importantly very clean. Hopefully other places pick up on their practices.

Beef flautas
Kathy N.

New Mexican restaurant in the Santa Teresa area. Las Cazuelas is located in the same plaza as Nob Hill. Place is very cute and clean. Service was really friendly and personable. However, the food was just okay. I ordered the beef flautas platter that came with rice/beans. I enjoyed that the flautas were crispy but they were lacking a bit of flavor. The rice and beans were good texture-wise, but were also lacking flavor. A bit bland for Mexican food.

Carnitas regular burrito
Rita V.

I had the regular burrito. It was filled with rice, beans, and carnitas. The burrito was a bit dry. It would be nice to have some pico de gallo inside. Overall, service was great. The food was prepared fairly fast. This is a new Mexican restaurant located in the Nob hill plaza. The prices are fairly reasonable, too.

Four tacos. $4 each. I got two Chile Verde and two Al Pastor.

Las Cazuelas just opened up at the old Casa Teresa restaurant location in the Nob Hill shopping center. The restaurant looks amazing with a beautiful modern look. I ordered four tacos. Two Al Pastor and the other two Chile Verde. Both tasted good, but I loved the Chile Verde the best. It was cooked perfectly and I will definitely get that again. The orange sauce they provided on the side was some of the best I have ever had. Paulina, our host was great. It was nice to see the family friendly vibe of Casa Teresa will continue here. I can't wait comeback soon to get a breakfast burrito with a side of that orange sauce.

The tacos here are delicious! I definitely recommend Las Cazuelas to anyone that wants authentic great tasting food.

Shrimp burrito
Lexi R.

I got a super shrimp burrito, my husband got a sampler, and my kiddo got a chicken taco plate. My shrimp burrito had a lot of flavor and the shrimp were good perfectly! I will say it's slightly on the pricier side though. The super burrito is $15 which isn't bad, but upgrading to shrimp is an additional $3, so it was $18 for the burrito. For reference, I usually spend $15.50 for a shrimp burrito at my favorite taqueria. My kiddo devoured his taco and half his rice. I tried the his. chicken and it was cooked well and not dry. My husband also enjoyed his plate, which came with his choice of meat (carnitas), nachos, quesadilla, and flautas. He thought the flautas were just OK but liked the nachos and quesadilla. Service was attentive and friendly and the chips and salsa here are great! Overall we enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back to try more!

Chile relleno
Ann Marie R.

We tried Las Cazuelas for the first time today and were really impressed! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The chile relleno, flautas, and albóndigas soup were all excellent, and even the rice and beans were really good. My mom even said " These beans are delicious." What really stood out, were the salsas. So many restaurants overlook them, but these were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and packed with just the right amount of heat. We kept going back for more. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and it's always exciting to find a great new local Mexican restaurant. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend giving Las Cazuelas a try!

2 enchilada plate very tasty (1) chicken and (1) ground beef ranchera Enchilada Ranchera

The Ranchera Enchiladas were really good! I got one chicken and one ground beef so I could try both. They were both super flavorful, and the ranchera sauce was really good without being too spicy.

Albondigas / Meatball Soup
Mari G.

I've been a customer for many years, and when I found out our favorite server was working here, we had to follow her! I came Friday morning and had the albóndigas--they were absolutely delicious. Great service, very clean restaurant, and amazing food. We'll definitely be back!

Sangria on point
Doreen S.

I'm going to enjoy yet another meal here at my favorite place. Albondigas soup and a wonderful Sangria are perfect for lunch. Best service always and the best relaxing music playing. I am patiently waiting for the amazing soup. I have tried it and it's delicious.

Chicken nachos
Stephanie L.

The food here is fresh and much higher quality than many neighborhood restaurants. A lot of care is taken with the preparation and ingredients; for example the chicken in my nachos was tender and flavorful, and it wasn't drowning in sour cream or beans. Chips are fresh. Margarita has a nice spicy bite in the salt rim. Speciality sauces come with the mole. Our server was attentive, checking in frequently to make sure we were happy. The place is new, clean with upscale decor. We will be visiting again!

I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this spot. Unfortunately, I noticed several blue-green spots on my quesadilla that appeared to be mold, so I stopped eating it. The food was plated nicely, but my flautas lacked flavor, and the horchata was a little watery. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

I would suggest that the serve mention that when taking orders so we know. Just because it's at the very bottom of the menu I didn't notice it until I asked for a dessert menu. The food was so good! We had Mexican jambalaya, Carne asada plate, tacos Dorado, enchiladas with both sauces, parillada, enfrioladas (bean enchiladas) tacos de pescado, Don julio flight, multiple drinks and churros. The churros were really good although we wish there was a non filled ones too and to have the optionof if we wanted it dressed up because churros are already super sweet with the cinnamonand sugar dusted but caramel and whip cream was added along with a strawberry filling. We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. Overall the service was great and quick. I would definitely come back here.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

They charged us for an adult Chicken and Waffles even though we sent it back and got the correct kids' portion I originally ordered. They also charged us for TWO molcajetes when only ONE came out. The check went from $265 to $200 after we caught everything. 1000000% they were hoping we wouldn't notice. I could believe it was an honest mistake if two molcajetes had come out, but they didn't. Since gratuity was already included, it really makes me wonder how many people have overpaid without realizing it. We came in with a group of 6. Everything was okay at first. We ordered chips with salsa and beans, and the beans were delicious, so we ordered a second round. At most restaurants, chips and salsa are free, so we assumed the same here. Unfortunately, we were never told the second round wasn't free, or that only one refill was included, and no one asked if we were okay with the additional charge. My dad and I shared the molcajete, which was pretty good, had enough meat, and was literally BOILING hot. My MIL and husband both ordered the Carne Asada plate. It was tasty but had really small portions, so we had to share our food with them to fill them up. My kids ordered French toast and chicken strips. They were originally supposed to get Chicken and Waffles, but they were out of waffles or couldn't make them--I'm not really sure. This is where the problems started. I specifically said KIDS chicken & waffles twice when ordering, but they brought out the adult size for my oldest, which was $8 more. Fine, we can call that an honest mistake, but then it was also charged on the final bill even after we sent it back. Unfortunately, after everything with the bill, we will NOT be going back here again.

We started with the Queso Fundido, served on a small hot plate with chilis, garlic, and oil on top. It's basically a block of cheese served with chips. Even with the hot plate, it didn't stay gooey for long, but it was a pretty good starter. The Coconut Campachano was creamy and refreshing. It also came with chips, though ours seemed like crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. We got the Trompo tacos and Sautéed Shrimp tacos. Both were tasty, and the tortillas seemed fresh. My wife is Latina, so we're pretty familiar with authentic Latin/Mexican flavors, and from the moment we walked in, we were a little unsure of what to expect. We completely understand we're in Willow Glen and that Copita is going for a more upscale take, but for us, authenticity and flavor still have to be at the heart of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.
