Sat on the back patio, restaurant is super pretty and clean. Food was outstanding, drinks were good, staff were very friendly. Great place for a Sunday funday!
For a while, Zona Rosa was one of my favorite restaurants, the food was delicious, it was a great deal, and the portions were big. Unfortunately inflation and the economy has changed the prices and food sizes, but at least it still tastes good. Some of my favorites here over the years have been the salmon tacos, Esquites, Enchiladas De Camarone and suizas, and the bacon guac. I used to not bat an eye and order whatever I wanted, but now I do have to think a little bit more so that the bill doesn't get too high. This location has a super cute front patio, it's bright, light, and airy, transporting you out of San Jose and right to a vacation mode. Even though it's on a pretty busy road, the traffic isn't usually distracting. Parking in the area can be hard, there's a couple paralele spots and then it's all neighborhood parking on the side of the street with the restaurant. Across the street can be a little bit easier.
Still one of our favorite restaurants, even though we don't eat out as much as we used to. We came here on Father's Day with a friend visiting from out of town. They have seating out front inside and in the back, but the place was pretty full. Nonetheless, we were seated quickly as we had a reservation. It is a good idea to call ahead and make one. The prices are high, but hopefully all their people are making a good living and the portions are enough for our appetites at least. I had the shrimp enchiladas, and my wife had the vegetarian tacos with a side order of scrambled eggs. There was nearly a mixup as the waiter thought we wanted to order an egg taco and that's considerably more expensive but we got it straightened out with the maitre D. We also shared a Paloma cocktail with which has a pretty color and delightful taste.
Nice place to have a lunch date. Great service. Clean and modern interior. Salmon tacos were yum and I like the guacamole and chips as well. Nice pretty looking drinks. However, a bit pricey $15/2 tacos lol.
Zona Rosa has become a local rotation for me and my partner. We love this place for a casual no frills date night. The vibes are always great, with options for indoor and outdoor seating, heaters when it's cold. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, it feels like family. By far my favorite thing to get on the menu is the Baja beer battered fish tacos and a cucumber margarita. But we also have loved the tortilla soup. It's rare a place leaves a special place in my heart like this one, definitely a local gem here.
Writing a review mainly for their mushroom taco. Their blue corn tortillas were freshly pressed and grilled infront of us outside. They were amazing. The best tortilla I ever had in my life. The mushrooms were seasoned SO well. They were so addicting. I dream of those tacos. The chicken tacos were delicious as well on the same blue corn tortillas; however, I prefer the mushroom taco. I also tried their dirty rice -- it was very spicy. I couldn't each much of it. I normally love Spanish rice but this was not close at all. When I go back, I would get their mushroom tacos and their corn (esquires).
This place is very cute inside - a perfect mix between modern and family style. They seemed to have some fun menu items with a twist. Really good selection of tacos and love the blue tortillas. Great selection of margaritas! Service was great but kind of slow . Would go again !

Zona Rosa is cozy restaurant in downtown San Jose with a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious! We had shrimp enchiladas served with rice and black beans. Along with delicious lemonade in beautiful glasses. We were there on a first date, and the Romantic corner - with its gorgeous chandelier, rustic mirror with heart decoration - made the evening feel exciting and very special. We had a wonderful experience.
I would give Zona Rosa a solid 3.5 out of 5. Food: I got the pollo enchilada and it was delicious. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was so good that it warranted the price point. I also got the guac + chips and it suffered from too much lemon, and not enough salt or cilantro. Guac + chips should be a solid offering at a Mexican restaurant! Service: Service here was pretty good. Nice hospitality, however servers were a bit sparse and I had to flag someone down for my check. Ambiance: This restaurant is radiating with charm. Beautiful place to dine, whether indoors or outdoors.

I also love having the option to choose a variety of tacos from the platter selection. We finished dinner with the buñuelos, and they were absolutely phenomenal with Marianne's horchata ice cream.

It was adorable even on the outside with the outdoor heaters in the patios and pretty decor. The best part was once we entered. Wow. The place was adorbs! It didn't look like it belonged on The Alameda in San Jose, but rather a downtown of a fancy city, like Los Gatos or some place down South. The ambiance was *chef's kiss*, a perfect date place! Cocktails were fun, beautifully-concocted, and tasty. The 5 taco plate was a great way to try a bunch of different proteins and flavors. My favorites were the blackened salmon taco (amazing flavor profile!), steak (so tender!), and scallops (cooked to perfection!) Our least favorite was the pork taco (too dry and too salty). We also ordered guacamole and chips. The guac was beautifully presented and delicious. The thick corn tortilla chips were homemade, but had a slightly burnt flavor. The service was excellent. And there's plenty of street parking. Zona Rosa is a great choice if you're ever in San Jose and want to have a nice medium-to-upscale Mexican cuisine dining experience without going to a crowded or cliche area, like Santana Row.

Zona Rosa is on the Alameda, and it doesn't have a large presence, but you can't miss it with the large lit up "TACOS" letters in the front. I notice a lot of people taking photos with the signage. It's a busy spot, with people waiting to be seated. The host was friendly, and we did have to wait. Once we were seated, I really like the ambiance of the place, people were really enjoying themselves. Our waitress came and introduced herself, and made suggestions. The service and food was good, but it is not traditional mexican food. I still liked it. read more
The restaurant was pretty good, but I have to put it in my "mediocre high-end Mexican" category. Not saying it was bad--I've just had much better. The service was great, and the chicken enchiladas were tender, but they just didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for. We had a large crew, so kudos to our server for keeping everything moving, getting the food out on time, and remaining friendly and attentive throughout the meal. My bestie and I came here to have a spontaneous dinner. We waited about 10 min to be seated which was reasonable for Saturday at 6:30pm. We set outside which was preferable as the weather was nice and inside it was extremely noisy, the acoustics isn't great inside. We ordered the guac and chips with the pistachios and bacon, not sure what the hype was all about. The chips while made there weren't very flavorful and the guac was very plain, I make a better one at home. The bacon was too salty and the pistachios didn't really make any difference. The ceviche tostada was wonderful, very zesty and fresh. We shared 5 different kinds of tacos. I loved that it was street tacos and we could both enjoy it. I had the shrimp with sauce which was spicy but that's about it. The chimmichuri steak was bland. The blackened salmon was the only saving grace though could use a little more salt. In general, the food could use a little more salt, and I'm not even a person who enjoys salty foods. We ended up $100 for 2 people including tip. The portions were fine and none of us ended up hungry but I expected more from a $100 meal. The server shouldn't even wait to bring water to the table and just bring it even if we didn't ask. Zona Rosa is a very cute place. I met my coworker here for dinner recently and I liked the empanadas de costillas. I also liked the tempura tacos as well as the special tacos we got with spare rib in them, but the meat in my taco had a very hard piece in it which I had to spit out. The dark chocolate chip banana crumb cake was fantastic though. It was a bit dry but I still liked the flavors. I would come back here read more

Food is very delicious. Havent tasted such salsas before especially the black one. Harvest margarita was seasonal and great too! We got the suzi enchiladas. Ambiance is small, cute, restrooms are clean also Our waiter was helpful with suggestions . Would definitely come back for tacos and drinks. read more
Nice small restaurant with outdoor seating in the front + back. Front seating is cute but right along the alameda so quite noisy. Chips + 3 salsas are each unique offering a variety of flavor. Paired with a Carajillo for a nice midday pick me up, sweet and savory. The service is quick and sweet on a Saturday afternoon. Would come back to try more! Came here for lunch with a few coworkers and we left not feeling impressed. The food portions were smaller than we expected and it didn't really taste that good, not to mention the price for what you get isn't really worth it. It was very loud inside as I think they were making pico and using the multipurpose chopper. It got so loud at one point that we couldn't even talk with each other without having to practically scream. The decoration is beautiful though and feels like you're at a Mexican mom's fancy kitchen. Service was not good at all. We had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order taken and then we watched our food stand on the counter top for another 5 minutes. Once we were served we were never checked up on until the end when we had to flag them down to get the check. I don't think we'll be coming back. read more
Love going here it has such a calm cool vibe. Find it great for chatting or catching up with friends. I was greeted right away when entering and immediately seated. My waiter was very attentive to me and was helpful when giving out his favorite on the menu. I thought the food was good, I would rate a 7.5/10. My drinks were also good. Came here for a private White Lotus themed murder mystery party. We had the outdoor bar area upstairs to ourselves and it fit about 15 people standing comfortably. It had a nice view, though I will say it got quite hot up there. They had pretty good drinks - I had their extra spicy margaritas, and they did not disappoint. We had their guacamole and chips, and their queso fundido con chorizo - some of the best we've had in a long time. The bartenders were nice and attentive. Wowwwww.....the cucumber basil margarita is a MUST. I had two and honestly could have had more. They were beautiful and tasted fantastic. Very light and felt "healthish"---perfect for a sunny day. I got the carnitas tacos and again...AMAZING, but the winner in the food department had to have been the Chimichurri tacos. The staff was charming and were very kind. The overall vibe of the restaurant is funky and preppy--all thrown into one. I loved it. Can you tell I already want to go back?! read more

What a gem! The place has a classy-but-casual rustic vibe, with indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff. But the food is the real star. Our group of 8 shared ceviche and smoked trout starters; both were great, but that trout is not to be missed! My horchata cold brew was delightful, too. The potato hash dish from the brunch menu was nothing short of incredible though: queso fundido base, fried potats, and burnt-end carnitas... hold lord, I'm gonna dream about that plate! read more

We were in the area and wanted to check out something different, so we had dinner at Zona Rosa. When we walked up, the host asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't, but got seated anyway. The menu is kind of high-end Mexican food. The specialty is the tacos, served on blue corn tortillas. I tried the salmon tacos that had a big piece of salmon with a slice of bacon and corn salsa. Everything was very fresh and went well together. My companion got the vegetarian verduras tacos which he loved. He said they were the best mushroom tacos he ever had. We got the chips and guac and the guac was decent, but the chips were amazing. They had upcharge items to add to the guac which I'd probably do next time. It was fine, just a little plain! This place is cute inside, has a nice bar. We didn't order drinks but the drink menu looked really interesting. Had Friday dinner with friends at this Mexican restaurant with an 8:15 PM reservation. They offer different seating options--front open seating, indoor, and back patio. The hostess seemed overwhelmed, constantly moving in and out without acknowledging guests, as multiple groups arrived at the same time. After being seated, it took some time for the server to arrive. We started with drinks, ordering different margaritas (hibiscus, Felicia Rose, blood orange, Francisco) along with chips and guac. The food and drinks arrived at a decent pace, but the chips were oily, and the guac portion was small and underwhelming. Drinks are good. If seated outside, it can get cold even with heaters, especially if it's windy. The server took a long time to return for our entrée order. We got Suiza and Verduras enchiladas, as well as Baja and shrimp tacos. The food was just okay--nothing particularly impressive. For dessert, we tried the chocolate bread, which had a hard exterior but was moist and flavorful inside. Overall, it was an average experience. The restaurant was too busy to manage service effectively, which affected the experience. read more

Food is good but lacks the authentic mex taste, feels more like trendy gentrified food than the real thing thats made with love. But the vibe is super cute and fun, perfect for date night or to celebrate a bday. The servers are really friendly as well which makes the experience alot better. It is on the pricier side. read more

A nice little spot in the Alameda section of San Jose. We need a spot to eat and they were able to take are larger party. Food is a bit limited, but what they have is pretty good. Lots of taco selection. Service was a little spotty as the guy didn't check in with us enough because he knew he was getting his 20% tip no matter what. Still, we enjoyed are experience here. read more

Is this place big enough to sit a big party of about 30?
Unfortunately I do not think so. The inside is rather small and even with 20 people in the space it already feels insanely crammed.
Is this owned by the same people as the one in SF?
No. A local San Jose family owns this one.
