I joined my monthly lunch gang at Las Cazuelas, as recommended by one of my friends. They have indoor seating, but you have to sit outside since they have a beautiful patio. There was so much to choose from on the menu, and I finally decided on the Burrito Bowl with carnitas. What can I say? It was delicious! The carnitas was tender and delectable. Our waiter was very friendly and had a sense of humor. He provided excellent service.

A true neighborhood gem! Awesome backyard patio with lots of decorations and heat lamps. The homemade salsas are to die for. Free chips and salsa. The camarones a la diabla were fantastic. I asked for a spoon to eat all the red sauce. Beware it is spicy! Graciela the manager was there and personally served our dishes. Price point is so affordable. I will be back for the Sunday AYCE brunch buffet!

It's been ages since I've been back to Las Cazuelas, and it's just as good as I remember! The food is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in the Bay Area. Coming from LA, it's hard to find Mexican food here that tastes as fresh as street food or taco truck food, where everything is made by hand in small batches--but Las Cazuelas does it perfectly. I always get the breakfast burrito, and it never disappoints. The salsas are the highlight, super tasty and full of flavor. They're the perfect addition to any dish. The homemade chips are also amazing, crispy, fresh, and served with every meal. The watermelon agua fresca is also a must-try, refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. If you're looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go!

The location is beautiful, good customer service, great portion sizes and the flavor is perfect.

Food is amazing, the breakfast is spot on the way I like it. Not too hot, perfect consistency.

Taqueria 2 on the left, bigger in size, but not in flavor....

Did a burrito challenge/taste test between this spot and Taqueria 2, on Park.... Las Cazuelas was the burrito winner. Pros- both super burritos were good, they actually had similar ingredients (steak, chicken, rice, sour cream, and avocado). Las Cazuelas' burrito had a little more flavor and was the family favorite. They give complimentary chips and salsa, even on to go orders. Taqueria 2 only gives you complimentary chips if you dine in. If you want chips at Taqueria 2, you'll have to pay for chips to go... Actually, Las Cazuelas gave us a basket while we waited for our order. I had to ask, but they still gave it to us, no problem! My son ordered their steak fajitas which he polished pretty quickly. And even though he said he wanted no part of my burrito taste test (he said I was nuts for going to two places), he also ate quite a bit of my burritos too! Teenagers!! Another pro, If you drive a Tesla - I think their parking lot is a speciality charging station-I saw a ton of Teslas there charging. Oh, yes, they have their own parking lot, a huge pro! Taqueria 2 does as well, but theirs has a funky layout. Cons- horchata was $6.00 without refills. Some Mexican spots (Taqueria El Abuelo for example in WG) give free refills, even on their "specialty juices/drinks", not the case here. I ordered their beef soup with vegetables in addition to the burrito and I've definitely had better. For their soup, they used corned beef. It was a little saltier than I'm used to because of that. Threw me off when I first opened the container since the meat was also on the super pink side (and quite fatty). There were only two pieces of meat (which equaled to very little meat once you cut the fat off too), 2 carrot slices, 3 zucchini slices, and 1 small corn on the cob slice. Felt skimpy. So rating of a 4, since for the burrito challenge, they came out on top. But overall, a few things that were disappointing, which is why I'm not able to give them a 5. I will come back though whenever we have a burrito craving as right now, they seem to have the best burritos in the local area.

    Fantastic outdoor patio.

Good Mexican restaurant on Race St. Food was good and server was very friendly. The patio is very spacious and just the spot on a nice day. The enchilladas were very good, but a little watery. Burrito bowl was great - all the fixins' of a good burrito without the tortilla. Service was quick to start, but then we had to wait a long time for our check. Plenty of parking in the lot next door. We'll probably come back again and try a few more things on the menu.

Thank you for your local support of Hoover performing arts. My barbacoa super burrito was delicious but didn't include sour cream. My daughter crispy taco should have had cheese? But none. Love the patio. Maybe next time. Not sure my family would come but I liked my burrito.

Here is my two cents on the quality quantity and price of my chili rellenos.. It was delivered by Uber eats in a very timely and efficient manner.! kudos to Uber eats.. I requested a Chilli Rellnois meal.. With my meal I got refried beans some Spanish rice 2 chili and very hot and warm 4 corn tortillas, along with a bag of chips.. I requested pickle jalapeño peppers ,, but they substituted three different types of hot pepper sauce... Which were much much better than what I had requested. I just love them. I was under the impression that most Mexican restaurant food tasted the same, especially when it came to the Spanish rice and the refried beans .. WOW was I wrong here?.. THE SPANISH RICE WAS ABSOLUTELY COOKED TO PERFECTION AND TASTED GREAT.... AND REFRIED BEANS, THOUGH A LITTLE BIT ON THE RUNNING SIDE WAS SIMPLY MARVELOUS... And then, when I dug into the two chili Reillenois it was heaven on my tongue ... I was under the impression that all restaurants basically tasted the same... WOW, WAS I SO WRONG?.. The added hot sauces were just enough to grab your attention without being overwhelmed.. I would definitely have to come back and try the other items.. But in the meantime, I cannot say enough for everyone else to at least give them a try. Thank you very much...

Las Cazuelas Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Las Cazuelas

    Are the salsas vegetarian?

To the best of my knowledge yes but you can always call and ask.

Does this restaurant provide catering services for a large event (100-150 people)?

Is Menudo served here daily or just on weekends?

I believe every day. Alot of Mexican restaurants do cook menudo only on Sundays. If I'm wrong, I know that El Pirrin on San Antonio St between King Rd. and Jackson Ave does make it every day.

How is the Sunday brunch here? I've read mixed reviews about little options or a lot of choices? Is it mainly breakfast items or what are the types of dishes they serve, including dessert?

Looks good but not a big variety

Lots of take out orders and dine in orders. I ordered 5 super tacos to share with different meats (pollo, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and chorizo). The super tacos come with cilantro, onions, avocado, sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo. All the tacos come with homemade corn tortillas - you could tell they were fresh. The tacos are big, not small at all. The carne asada, carnitas and pollo was my favorite. Al pastor was good as well, chorizo was not that flavorful for me. However, they also have 3 types of salsas (green, red and a creamy orange) you can use to help add some more flavor if needed. I plan to come back here to try their burritos and tortas as well next time.

The tacos were good and the tortilla they used was quite thick. The enchiladas had good flavor as well, and I would be interested in trying their enchilada with the verde sauce next time. Their prices have steadily risen over time and they have updated their menu prices as well. One thing that elevated this restaurant to 4 stars is their sauce! The red sauce and green sauce recipe is definitely unique compared to other taquerias. The red sauce bottle helps with the flavor tremendously and without it I would have rated this place lower.

We were seated at the booth in the back, which I have always admired, but I now realize it has its disadvantages. It is right by the bathroom, which got a bit of traffic on our visit. That's not such a big deal. The bigger concerns I have are: (1) there is no cushioning for those of us with little of our own and (2) you have to sit up fairly straight and if you want to lean against the wall, you're likely to rub shoulders with the wall hanging. Next time I will ask to be seated someplace else as there were two 2-tops outside. The food is always made from quality ingredients and I'm glad to see they are experimenting with pricing and quantity. I did not see mention of their daily happy hour, which was a feature of last year's visit so that may be gone. However, they now have a five tacos platter which offers relatively good value from the menu prices. This would be good for sharing for two people I think. But that is not what we ordered on this visit. My wife ordered two vegetarian (verduras) tacos and the Blood Orange/Jalapeno mocktail. I ordered the huevos rancheros. Unlike Luna, tortilla chips and salsa are not complimentary. So we let our appetites build. Our food arrived fairly quickly, so that was good and we dug in. My wife had ordered two extra eggs (extra charge) to accompany her tacos, and I think she was glad she did. The vegetarian tacos were not terribly generous for the price. My huevos rancheros came in a neatly stacked pile. My wife thought to ask if they had a hot sauce and they do! So we requested their hottest version. It was a welcome addition to the meal (gratis). A little vinegary, but plenty of heat. The mocktail was quite good. Like Spindrift and some other sparkling waters, it is not sweetened, but it had a good amount of strained blood orange juice, and you could taste the fresh jalapeño. I wonder if they have tried adding mint to this as I think it would be welcome. Maybe next time I will ask if they can experiment with me by adding some mint.

Service was not good at all. We had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order taken and then we watched our food stand on the counter top for another 5 minutes. Once we were served we were never checked up on until the end when we had to flag them down to get the check. I don't think we'll be coming back.

This made it so seamless to reserve here. Our group got there at opening and our table was ready and most of the group was already seated when we got there. Drink orders were flowing as the waitress caught up to me and I got a cafe de olla. We browsed the menu and the more I looked the harder it was to pick one thing. I ended up choosing chilaquiles with a bandera sauce and carne asada as the added protein. The rest of the table got all different types of dishes from carne en su jugo to birria to omelettes. While we enjoyed each other's company sipping on our cafecito I enjoyed the ambiance of the space. Nicely decorated for the holidays. Since it was opening time it wasn't as loud as I imagine it can get in there. The sun did shine on the faces of those facing the windows which was not enjoyable for them. There was no way to cover the sun either since it was coming in from the top windows with no shade. My food came out along with the rest of the plates and we went right in to enjoy them. My favorite chilaquiles was covered in the white sauce. The red and green were good but the white sauce was my favorite. The carne was cooked well but I could taste it wasn't marinated or lacked flavor. I didn't get a knife to cut the meat so it was very difficult to enjoy a piece with my chilaquiles. It was hard to cut with a butter knife. I thought it would be a piece of steak but it was a piece of carne asada. Eggs were scrambled and cooked well. The whole plate was filling, had flavor, and was a good portion. The cafe de olla had a good flavor but a tad sweet for my preference. The space in here is a vibe. A fun place to enjoy large gatherings. I came for breakfast but will update when I come back to visit for dinner. Bathrooms are clean. Staff was welcoming and efficient in taking care of our group. Hospitality was a 10/10. Parking in the am was a breeze but at prime time I can see it being a complete nightmare so plan accordingly. I enjoyed my visit and will come back to check out the dinner menu.

As we cruised by looking for parking, it was clear we had picked a lively spot--buzzing energy everywhere: inside, outside, and even upstairs. We were quickly seated indoors, though on such a beautiful day we assumed we'd be offered outdoor seating. No big deal--we asked, and they happily moved us to a shaded table with plenty of space. Much better. Drinks were first on the agenda: margaritas and a michelada, all refreshing and exactly what we were hoping for. Our server, Michelle, was friendly, attentive, and even shared some helpful tips about perks with our American Express Platinum Card--a nice, unexpected touch. We kicked things off with queso fundido, though a brief mix-up brought us chips and guacamole from another table first. Once we pointed it out, it was quickly handled--but honestly, it looked so good we ended up ordering it anyway. No regrets there--it definitely hit the spot. We hadn't planned on a full dinner, so we went with lighter bites. The tuna tostadas and halibut ceviche were a hit--fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. I went with the tortilla soup, which was good and nicely presented... but didn't quite wow me. I've been on a bit of a tortilla soup tour lately, and this one leaned a little heavy on the tortillas (soaking up too much broth) and had more zucchini than I expected. That said, major points for serving it piping hot--something a lot of places miss--and the avocado was a great addition. One thing worth noting: I didn't catch it until later, but there's a 4% living wage surcharge added to the bill--and it's taxed. That caught me off guard, and I'm still not entirely sure how that works in California. Overall, a fun, energetic spot with great drinks, tasty bites, and solid service. Not perfect, but definitely good enough to come back for another round.

It was busy at noon on a Saturday, but fortunately they have a large tented outdoor dining area, in addition to the regular indoor restaurant, to accommodate everyone. I was almost immediately seated and given water and chips and two types of salsa. Both were too spicy for me, but the chips tasted good. I ordered the steak salad, which is what I've had every time I've dined at the Pruneyard location. It was very good, although the steak portion was teeny tiny. That was disappointing. But the greens were fresh and delicious and I loved the fresh avocado and roasted corn on top. Even the salad dressing was perfection. A few random notes: My waiter was running around like crazy trying to help all of the diners at his tables, but still came by and checked on me a couple times. The restaurant is LOUD despite being outside. They allow dogs on leashes outside. The dedicated parking lot is small, but I was able to find a spot. I didn't notice much of a difference between the two locations other than the small size of the steak at the Alameda restaurant. I would go back to either location.

Went here for lunch. Very open and spacious. Workers are attentive and quick…read more Place has a restroom and a full bar. Menu is fully loaded. There is a QR code (see photo) Cali-taco: it's a good size, fries are crispy. We recommend this one. Would get it again. Quesabirria: 2.5/5 - it was just ok. Wasn't as flavorful as I've had before Super burrito: 3.9/5 - it's a hefty size. Very filling. I had to eat half otherwise I'd go into full nap mode after. I'd recommend it for any burrito lover and someone who can eat a lot.

02/02/26. Update.... Probably my 10th visit, and this time it was absolutely incredible…read more I always ordere "The Double Meat Carne Asada" Burrito, 8 times out of 10 it has been delicious, but Saturday was Top Notch, OMG. The meat was perfectly cooked, moist and No Chunks of fat at all, and there was plenty of meat as well, mixed with a perfect bit of rice & beans, cheese, a tiny bit of avocado (I always have extra at home for this + sour cream) and the dough is pleasantly thin. I throw this in a counter top oven, and while heating, the dough becomes wonderfully crisp... Ohlala. The restaurant itself is clean, inviting, big windows all around, an impressive bar, and several TV screens that however, makes it on the noisy side. Always a lot of families there, seeming to enjoy all different kinds of wonderful dishes. I got two meals out of this heavenly Burrito, and I will definitely recommend this place.
