I heard about this place on Instagram. Someone made a reel stating that these were the best nachos they've ever had in the San Jose area, so we had to stop in. Pretty cool bar, seemed popular as it was pretty crowded when we got there. We parked maybe 3 blocks away because the lot behind the restaurant was completely full. We ordered at the counter and found some communal seating. Water is self serve, and you get a pager when your order is ready. We ordered the nachos and wow it was a generous portion. I'm conflicted on how to rate El Guapo's because the food is ok, but it's not authentic/traditional or amazing (it's more like Cal-Mex). Came on a Friday night looking for a restaurant with quick service, so we came here! The staff recommended that I get the Hawaiian tacos, so I went with their suggestion. I do think everything was cooked and seasoned well; it's just not something I felt impressed by and would crave to have again (maybe because the cheese made it taste really heavy). I've been this restaurant a handful of times and I guess they change their menu. They used to have chicken flautas that I really liked and I guess they don't make those anymore. Instead, I got the three fish tacos and those were quite filling!! I don't like the Crumble cheese, so I got it without that as well as the sauce/salsa. Service was fine, you wait in front at the register for your order and then find an open seating area to sit at. We were able to sit down and get a spot wall other people in the party were able to order their drinks at the bar. I really like the Jamaica Agua Fresca And their salsa Verde was pretty spicy, but I really liked it! I will definitely be back again! This was my second time coming to this restaurant. But my first time trying their Tacos. To be frank, their tacos were extremely bland and had no flavor. I tried adding two kinds of sauce and extra lime yet the tacos still lacked flavor. The sauces were all pretty good though. I just wouldn't recommend the food here as my partner ordered a steak quesadilla and even he said it was bland with little to no cheese. The service wasn't bad at all so that was a plus. My son loves the quesobirria tacos here so when I was looking for dinner in the area, I decided to try them. What I failed to realize was that they have both birria tacos and quesobirria tacos and, unfortunately, I ordered the birria tacos. When they arrived, they looked like street tacos and didn't have the broth on the side etc.. I texted my son and sent him a photo and he quickly told me I had the wrong item. It's right in downtown Campbell so parking is difficult. Right in the middle though so it's a nice walk to other cute stores nearby. Love the vibe, but it was super loud in there that I could barely talk with my group without feeling like I'm yelling. Staff was very nice. Food was filling. Tacos were great. I'll have to come back and try more dishes. Burritos looked gigantic. The ceviche was really good and the chips were great. I couldn't stop eating the chips. El Guapo's is an ok restaraunt in Campbell downtown. While the ambiance was phenomenal as they had plenty of outdoor and indoor seating as well as a bar, the food was unfortunately extremely mediocre. I got the Quesabirria tacos and the food came out in a reasonable time. The tacos themselves were extremely wet already with some grease and they were just soggy and had no crunch to them making it some kind of tortilla soup which I didn't enjoy. While the meat(beef) was tender, it had little to no actual flavor. The consome which is what is supposed to be the highlight of Quesabirria tacos was unfortunately underwhelming as it too had no flavor. The chips and salsa for me were really good though, as the salsa and chips tasted fresh. The tomatillo salsa was my favorite. El guapo's was extremely cheap for a nice restaurant in downtown as my dish which was sufficient for my whole dinner was only about $11 with tax which was great! Overall, while I would not come back to el guapo's again due to their mediocre food I would recommend this joint to others because of its affordability and prime location! read more

Explored downtown Campbell after getting a car wash. Was craving for a burrito, saw this restaurant on Google. The man at the register was extremely friendly, recommended several dishes, especially the shrimp burrito. The burrito is a good size and fills you up. But mainly from the rice and beans in the burrito. There was literally 5 pieces of shrimp, inside the burrito which i was so disappointed. I don't expect my burrito to be stuffed, but the rice and beans overpower the shrimp to the point where there was no firm texture when you bite into the burrito. The shrimp was also unseasoned. Tasted steamed/boiled. Was not grilled. And the burrito costed $17 dollars because I added avocado and sour cream (which I did not need the sour cream). It was a very underwhelming burrito, I was extremely disappointed by it. The chips were fresh. And the salsa for the burrito was good. Would I return? It wasn't super busy and it took 15-20 minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge my existence. She also literally served everyone (including people who came after me) before me. I love El Guapo's because the food is great and the service is quick and friendly. They have my favorite breakfast burrito in the Bay Area and you can order it any time of day. They do breakfast burritos right - with tater tots instead of potatoes!!! I recommend a super burrito since it comes with avocado and sour cream, too. Their quesadillas are also delicious, though you'll have to ask for a side of sour cream, guac, or lettuce if you want it (it only comes with chicken, cheese, and a dipping salsa). My boyfriend loves their quesabirria tacos too. They have an excellent patio out front in downtown Campbell, but the back patio is also nice because it's very quiet and quite large. There's an ATM inside and two all-gender bathrooms which is convenient. There's a full bar in the back with plenty of TVs. During football season, they're always playing an NFL game on each TV. There's a large TV on the patio too so if you want to be outside, have a great meal, and watch the game, this is the place to be. People often have their dogs with them and sit on the patios of the restaurant. We love to bring our dog here after the Sunday farmers market. read more

Two ordered the fish tacos but I don't know if they were included in the $2 price. Each taco platter came with crispy chips and salsa in small plastic containers. Yummy all around! We all enjoyed margaritas which were $2 off the regular price during happy hour. These were tasty and thankfully not too potent for me! Very happy with the friendly service. Although I have walked through the Campbell farmers market many times, I failed to notice this place since there are others that have bigger crowds and are more conspicuous. So on a non-market day, this popped onto the radar and we decided to check it out. Husband and I got two orders of the soy chorizo tacos, guac, and rice and beans. The person taking the order was extremely helpful with allergen information, and checked that the chorizo was gluten free and also that rice and beans we got as sides were vegan. The tacos were filled with a very generous portion of protein sautéed with some peppers. Delicious and very filling - we could each eat only two. It was a bit one-note, and I wish it had come with some fresh onion or lettuce to give it some freshness. We did add a little guac to them. I didn't realize the tacos came with chips, so we had an abundance which we ended up taking home. The salsas we requested on the side (mild and spicy) were a great accompaniment. We came to El Guapo's tonight to grab some food and drinks and it was just okay and nothing special. We ordered a carne asada quesadilla and the quesabirria tacos. The quesadilla lacked cheese and a lot of the carne asada was all fat. The quesabirria tacos were very greasy, it was dripping out of the tacos. For drinks, I got the pink taco margarita which unfortunately tasted very watered down on my first sip. The service up front where you place orders was good. The girl was friendly. However, the service at the bar could've been a lot better. We walked up to the bar to get a drink and the bartender walked over and just stood there staring at us until we were ready. Didn't say a word until we ordered our drinks which was kinda strange and she wasn't very friendly or welcoming. Ambiance is good if you're looking to watch a game and grab some drinks.
