Nachos
Linda M.

I heard about this place on Instagram. Someone made a reel stating that these were the best nachos they've ever had in the San Jose area, so we had to stop in. Pretty cool bar, seemed popular as it was pretty crowded when we got there. We parked maybe 3 blocks away because the lot behind the restaurant was completely full. We ordered at the counter and found some communal seating. Water is self serve, and you get a pager when your order is ready. We ordered the nachos and wow it was a generous portion. Enough for the two of us to be pretty full. It was definitely one of the best plates of nachos we've had in the SJ area. Will definitely be back and wow Instagram didn't lie to us.

I'm conflicted on how to rate El Guapo's because the food is ok, but it's not authentic/traditional or amazing (it's more like Cal-Mex). Came on a Friday night looking for a restaurant with quick service, so we came here! The staff recommended that I get the Hawaiian tacos, so I went with their suggestion. I do think everything was cooked and seasoned well; it's just not something I felt impressed by and would crave to have again (maybe because the cheese made it taste really heavy). Appreciate the complimentary chips and salsa. Staff were friendly. Hard to find parking in downtown Campbell, at times.

Fish tacos

I ordered the fried fish tacos and absolutely loved them! They came fully loaded with lettuce, salsa, and tons of flavor. While the service was decent, the ambiance leans pretty loud, so it's not the best spot for a quiet conversation. Still, if you're craving great fish tacos, I highly recommend checking this place out!

I've been this restaurant a handful of times and I guess they change their menu. They used to have chicken flautas that I really liked and I guess they don't make those anymore. Instead, I got the three fish tacos and those were quite filling!! I don't like the Crumble cheese, so I got it without that as well as the sauce/salsa. Service was fine, you wait in front at the register for your order and then find an open seating area to sit at. We were able to sit down and get a spot wall other people in the party were able to order their drinks at the bar. I really like the Jamaica Agua Fresca And their salsa Verde was pretty spicy, but I really liked it! I will definitely be back again! I just wish they had other cocktails that weren't so tequila based since I'm allergic. Lol.

Carne asada Tacos

This was my second time coming to this restaurant. But my first time trying their Tacos. To be frank, their tacos were extremely bland and had no flavor. I tried adding two kinds of sauce and extra lime yet the tacos still lacked flavor. The sauces were all pretty good though. I just wouldn't recommend the food here as my partner ordered a steak quesadilla and even he said it was bland with little to no cheese. The service wasn't bad at all so that was a plus. The restaurant is located in downtown Campbell. I loved their outdoor seating during my visit. I'll come back for drinks and the service but not for the food.

This was such a fun late night spot for greasy cheap food and strong drinks. El Guapo's was made for this el guapo. You order your food at the counter, drinks at the bar, grab a buzzer and get buzzed. Plenty of seating throughout but the back patio is a vibe. Great if you want to have a conversation and some fresh air. Inside is very lively. Really like that they have a late night weekend happy hour Friday-Saturday from 9:30-11:30 and everyday from 3-6PM. That level of flexibility warrants a return visit or two. It's $2off speciality drinks & Mexican beers, $9 shot & beer special, $8 zip margaritas and $12 18oz margs. But wait -- there's more! $9 carnita or chicken quesadillas that come with chips & salsas! I swear this isn't an ad. Just spreading the good word cuz that's a steal for the area. I had a great time with my friends here and will gladly come back for more.

Delicious food every time, drinks were ok a little on the strong and bitter side. Service was fast and polite on a busy night. Lots of people there great place for a date night or night out w friends.

This review is based solely on the quesadillas that I ordered during happy hour. Ooh gotta love a good happy hour deal! Got it for only $10. Portions were huge! I actually enjoyed the chicken tinga quesadilla. It also came with chips and salsa. Great ambiance and vibes. Staff were very friendly and helpful!

Birria tacos
GiGi G.

My son loves the quesobirria tacos here so when I was looking for dinner in the area, I decided to try them. What I failed to realize was that they have both birria tacos and quesobirria tacos and, unfortunately, I ordered the birria tacos. When they arrived, they looked like street tacos and didn't have the broth on the side etc.. I texted my son and sent him a photo and he quickly told me I had the wrong item. Fortunately, the waitress was very accommodating and offered to swap the dish for me. It was as delicious as my son had said! Yum!

As always this spot is super yummy lots and lots of flavor. They're always good at taking our picky order and making sure everything is right. Good atmosphere, they have indoor and outdoor seating available in the front/back. At night I've gone and it's been fun with music.

pollo asado street tacos
Anna H.

The pollo asada street tacos were very unseasoned until we ate it with the salsa, but after that it tasted pretty standard. The chips it came with were a nice crunchy contrast to the soft tortilla. The happy hour deals are decent at $2/taco, but I feel like the only thing that makes this place stand out is that it's a sit-down taco place.

I would suggest that the serve mention that when taking orders so we know. Just because it's at the very bottom of the menu I didn't notice it until I asked for a dessert menu. The food was so good! The churros were really good although we wish there was a non filled ones too and to have the optionof if we wanted it dressed up because churros are already super sweet with the cinnamonand sugar dusted but caramel and whip cream was added along with a strawberry filling. We also ordered a tres leches cake but we didn't like the tres leches cake, it was too sweet, so sweet that we couldn't taste the filling which we assume was pineapple lol the color was yellow with pieces of fruit but we couldn't taste it. Overall the service was great and quick. I would definitely come back here.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!
