We went on a Friday night dinner and realized they had happy hour till 6:30 where some of the food was 30% off. The place was packed when we reached at 6. We ordered shrimp fajitas (8/10) which were tasty and also with good portion size, chicken wings (7/10) were good but wish they had more sauce options, Trio of Tacos (10/10) was delicious and chicken nuggets for kids (10/10) had enough amount that could be easily shared. I stopped by Mexico Lindo on 6/23 around 5pm when there were barely any customers there. Even so, it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me or take my order, and I was never given a menu. I honestly felt ignored the entire time. The bartender/server was also coughing quite a bit while working and eating her own food at the bar, which made me uncomfortable while trying to enjoy my meal. Came on a Friday night to watch a basketball game and luckily there was a table near the bar to watch! Ordered appetizers and drinks and Jelly was amazing from beginning to end! First of all, love the size of wine pours here and super attentive! The carne asada trio tacos were so good! Meat was tender and plenty of it! The mini chimis were also so tasty. Dived into the happy hour menu: Nachos piled high with melty cheese, fresh toppings, and just the right kick (4/5)--crispy chips held up without getting soggy. Taco trio was a standout (5/5): asada and al pastor done right, juicy and flavorful with those corn tortillas that don't fall apart. Quesadilla was gooey perfection, stuffed generously (4/5). Mini chimi brought the crunch with tender beef inside, a fun bite-sized twist (4/5). On the drinks: Michelada negro hit different--spicy, tangy, with that dark beer depth for a bold sip (4/5). Margaritas were classic and refreshing, not too sweet, perfect for washing it all down (4/5). The thing is, we had to go look for a server & if you're gonna serve crappy food & make the bartender serve us instead, do us a favor & just tell us you guys are closed for the night. It's a disservice to us as customers for you guys to serve shitty food & then charge us full price & have to look for a waiter to serve us food. I only really enjoyed their drinks. Location: Because they are located on top of a hill, your phone connection will be very spotty. They do offer free WIFI to compensate that, you just have to ask one of the workers for the password. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. Food: The food here is not that great. It has little to no flavor. Someone in my party got the steak and asked for medium rare and when they got it, the steak was well done. I got the steak fajita which did not really have any seasoning on it. The chips and salsa was pretty standard, the salsa did have a small kick to it. Drinks: Their drinks here are pretty good. I've heard so many amazing things about this restaurant and I was so excited to try it out! Unfortunately it definitely fell very short of these expectations for several different reasons... First and foremost, although this is a "Mexican restaurant" the food is clearly not authentic Mexican food sadly... (This is coming from an honest Latina, so you know I'm not lying! lol.) We started with chips and salsa, which was very mild/light, yet moderately tasty! For entrees I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp plate. Although it definitely photographs beautifully and looks delicious.. it was severely lacking in flavor and did not have seasoning or any type of flare to it at all. :( The only thing that gave my dish flavor was the bacon that was wrapped around the shrimp sadly. I didn't even finish the rice because it honestly tasted a bit odd.. it looked like it they had added salsa verde on it but tasted very bland still. :( My friend ordered the steak fajitas and said that it was okay.. but lacking in flavor and the meat was very tough and not easy to chew. Essentially it was overly cooked. He said it wasn't awful but it also wasn't great either if that makes sense. Although our waitress was very nice, she forgot to come back and take our order for a solid 15 to 20 minutes while they were cleaning up other parts of the restaurant. I would understand if it was busy but we were one of the last tables there and it was clear that it was not a "priority" to help us. Another problem we had was my friend ran out of water while eating chips and salsa and started coughing/chocking with no way to relieve it because literally no one was there to refill our water.. Couldn't you just leave the water vase on the table? That would make more sense if the staff is preoccupied. I find it problematic that we had to ask for refills even though it was very slow in the restaurant that night.. On a positive note I will say the restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and it has a lot of interesting decor that really adds character to the place. I will also say they have pretty generous portions as well. But sadly... The food is clearly overly Americanized.. I'm guessing because it's in the Evergreen Hills? That they don't deliver on authentic Mexican cuisine seasoning, spice, nor taste AT ALL. lol. Honestly I am pretty disappointed after hearing all the amazing things.. Sunday lunch was quiet and we got seated without having a reservation. We were served water , chips and salsa right away. The food is delicious and portions were sufficient. I've had similar food for similar prices. Their cocktails margarita was just one so next time I'll try a different cocktail. We had Mole in the side and that was so good with all of our dishes. The Mango shrimp cocktail was fresh. I liked my chicken enchilada with the rice and refried beans. The Chimichanga Burrito was plentiful but a little dry -it would have been better with more fat. (some places have mild but here it's boarder-line too hot) They have plenty of staff so the service is generally pretty good. Very attentive when you need something. Prices seemed fair for having dined in the Beverly Hills of San Jose. Food I ordered the Tierra y Mar (steak and shrimp fajitas). I never had or even heard of soggy/soupy fajitas before. I made reservations at Mexico Lindo to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. The reservation was for a party of 17 people and we got the front patio. I was a little hesitant to book at this restaurant for a big party because the ratings on Yelp is weak to begin with. However, I have been to Mexico Lindo several times in the past but only for happy hour and with 2-4 people. My previous experience during happy hour was pleasant. After being seated, we were given chips with salsa, plates with utensils and menus only. No water was given. We sat there for 30 minutes and was completely ignored. I asked a female server who was helping another table to see who our server was. Our server was someone name Juan. After waiting for another 15 minutes, Juan never showed up. But that female server said she will help us instead. After taking all of our food orders, the food and appetizers all came out at different random times. In the end, 3 of our guests did not even get their dinner when everyone else was finished with their meals. The three guests who did not get their dinner had to leave without eating because they drove from Roseville and had to drive home because it was late. We also brought two bottles of wine ($15 corkage fee per bottle) and asked for 6 glasses which were never brought out for us. If it weren't for our server and the manager on duty who gave us a discount on our bill, this restaurant would get ZERO stars. And 2 stars is pretty generous. Even though we got a discount for our meal, the whole experience was ruin for my daughter and the whole party. I do not think anyone from our party will return. Food here is decent. Not good or very authentic. Just decent. Happy hour is great here. I would only recommend coming here for happy hour and nothing else. Looking over my receipt and credit card statement, I noticed our server Rolando A doubled his tip!!! OK, I really like this place. I like the environment. The wait staff were fantastic. The bar is really cool. I like everything about it. I am a big fan of chili rellenos and it seems like the classic chili relleno with red sauce is not made very frequently in upscale Mexican restaurants. My pet peeve is." That's the Weee Make it". I'm not a hater so I'm giving this place a five star. It would be nice if someone would read this and maybe improve on the chili Relleno also, the chips were stale but good. Highlights were the French Onion Soup, Roasted Turkey with Mole and Burrata Salad. Also advertised to have a Tomahawk but only received a few slices from the tomahawk (very disappointing). Had a tented area with heaters which was cozy and intimate. Staff was quick to refill our drinks with the handcrafted cocktails and pours of whiskey. I visited Mexico Lindo for dinner and drinks with friends on a Sunday night. Cute ambiance with outdoor seating in the front and the back. I liked the variety of Margaritas and tried El Cucuy and El Chupacabra. They were pretty good. My friends favorite is the Spicy Pineapple Margarita. I ordered Mar y Tierra fajitas and though they were just ok. The first set of corn tortillas they brought me in the foil were all broken so I had to get another pack of tortillas. Rice and beans were bland to me. Our server was nice, but the 3 stars is mostly due to the fact we waited 1 1/2 hrs for our food. My friends and I met at 6pm for dinner and I got there exactly at 6pm. Our food came out at 7:28pm. I specifically checked my phone for the time when it came. It should really be 1 star because the food wasn't anything special and 1 1/2 hrs is too long to wait. However, I will say our server was kind, apologetic, and seemed genuine. It wasn't super busy overall, but I did notice she was helping all the tables AND working the bar. Something was also happening with the kitchen. Our server was having a seemingly heated discussion with them and right after came over and explained it was going to take more time for our order. We called friday before Mother's Day to place an order for a dozen cheese enchiladas. They said that they would be $30 per dozen. We tried to order them right then and were told to call on Mother's Day. We called on Mother's Day was told that they weren't taking any orders for that day. When we said we were informed that we needed to call the day of... the cost was now $40. When we asked why the change in the price the guy whom said he was the "Manager" said that was the price. Okay so you are raising the price to EXTORT your customers on a holiday. When we arrived to pick them up the "Manager" and never acknowledged that we were there.
