IMHO We arrived 5 minutes before they opened at noon, and the staff was having a shift huddle inside before opening. We sat outside until we were welcomed in. Our table was situated by the window and soon 4 glasses of cold water and a tall chilled water container were brought over. I took one sip from my glass and noticed a dried remnant of green food stuck to the glass. After taking our orders, the waitress took my glass and returned with what I thought was another. I inspected the glass and saw my lipstick mark on the glass. The waitress either flicked off the dried food and gave me my original glass or the replacement glass had someone else's lipstick mark on it. Suffice it to say, their dishwasher needs to be fixed or replaced. (Yes, I received another glass AND a plastic cup the third time around. LOL) The food is excellent here! We enjoyed 2 orders of Baja tacos and one order of grilled fish tacos. The portion size is generous and I could only eat half of my entree. I only wish the tacos were served with two layers of corn tortillas instead of one. The integrity of the taco falls apart quickly because of the one tortilla. However, it was delicious!!! The side salsa is extremely . Service was friendly and at times abrupt (perhaps due to the dirty glass issue but I didn't blame her.) Will I return? Of course!!! Stopped into Andale for lunch. I ordered the two taco plate. I got one crispy and one soft. For the crispy I got Chile Verde and for the soft I got Al Pastor. This was darn good. Honestly, next time I am getting the crispy tacos. That was cooked to perfection. Both the Chile Verde and al pastor tasted great. The chips and salsa were also excellent. I was charmed by the fun, semi-fancy atmosphere. Some of the paintings were funny. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered some esquites from the small bites section in the menu and a sangria. My boyfriend went for a supreme quesadilla with guac and a Cadillac margarita. The food was good, and our server was incredibly attentive and nice. I did find the sangria a bit questionable, as it tasted more like red wine than the sweet sangria I'm used to. Also, the portions were a bit small for the price, which was a minor drawback. Andale Kitchen is tiny with only 5 tables, a kitchen, and no outdoor seating.. If you want to order take-out the Kitchen is the easiest, fastest, & cheapest. If you want to sit down with a group or sit on an outdoor patio then you want to go to the restaurant across the street. We ordered takeout from the Kitchen location and it's okay, not great. They estimated 15 minutes but it was done in 5 so it sat on the counter for a bit before we got there. We ordered the Quesadilla Suprema (only 3 pieces), Burrito Chipotle, & the Breakfast Burrito. My gf said the breakfast burrito was really good. I thought the quesadilla and chipotle burrito were just okay(bland) and needed hot sauce from our fridge for flavor. I put the quesadilla on our comal to brown it & get it crunchy. Nothing came with salsa so be sure to ask for salsa if you want it. Basically our experience was meh... My friend and I picked up lunch to go on a Thursday afternoon. It was fairly busy but no wait. The small kitchen restaurant feels too much like a small cafeteria inside. Although they do have some street patio seating. Which I would have opted for vs. the small dining area indoors. But we took ours to the Plaza park across the street. Way better option than anything else. The gentleman at the front taking orders was pleasant and knowledgeable about the recommendations of meats to choose from for my burrito bowl. I chose to go with "Al Pastor", black beans, leafy greens, no rice, Mexican cheese, salsa, jalapeños, and cilantro. My friend chose the crispy steak tacos (order comes with 3). I don't think I'll ever order the burrito bowl again. It was a small serving I side a large plastic bowl. For the price it's not worth it and the meat was so greasy. I could have easily poured out the grease there was so much of it. Since we were at the park, I didn't have anything to pour grease into. My friend said her tacos were ok in flavor and wouldn't order them again. Our meal cost was about $28. Wow! If you want Salsa from their salsa bar, they give you 3 small containers. I ordered takeout here for a Wednesday lunch. I got the Grilled Fajitas with steak and Baja Fish Tacos. The steak in the grilled fajitas were pretty good, tender and a little chewy. It went well with the peppers, onions, and guacamole. The rice and beans on the side weren't anything special. The fish tacos needed some work. The fish itself and the salsa were really good, crunchy fish even after ordering it takeout. However the taco shells and other toppings needed improvement. The shells were too weak and easily ripped. It would have been better if they added a second shell so that it has a better chance of staying together, as most other taco places I've tried so. This is the WORST restaurant in Los Gatos. They are rude have terrible service and the food is average at best. When I arrived I asked the lady at the counter to check an ensure that my order had the correct rice, so she knew I was there. Today I wanted to order a mesquite chicken salad for myself and an enchilada for my husband. He has a small appetite. They refused to sell me an enchilada without the whole combo. The lady said that sometimes people come in and only order one item (ie taco or such) and it's "not worth it to them." I was adding that to my mesquite chicken salad and we didn't want a combo plate. Service seemed uninterested to be there and it seems like management here changed over the years. We got the nachos, crunchy tacos, and the quesabirria taco, and all had their own bits of issues. The nachos for starters was just a mound of cheese with soft chips stuck inside that was difficult to separate. I wouldn't even call it a proper nacho for what it was. The quesabirria was crisp but was much more saltier than I expected; the fact that it was very oily was not an issue as that's expected for Quesabirria. The crunch tacos was the only thing that wasn't too off-putting but was pretty straightforward to begin with, nothing too unique I would say. Cost for everything was what you'd typically expect for a bit higher end Mexican food. I left Andale disappointed during my last visit and I won't be coming back for a while to see how things improve. I wouldn't recommend this place for others for the time being and better to try other places if you want to enjoy your meal. read more

We stopped here on our way back from Monteray. The kids were in need of some food in their system so we came here to take a breather after a long trip back. We sat down and then quickly realized that they are a bit disorganized. We wanted to order a few dishes and were told that they didn't have them anymore. It was 1PM on a weekday??? Well anyway we ordered other dishes that were in fact on the menu. The shrimp taco dish I had was pretty tasty. I ordered a snapper dish for the kids and it lacked seasoning especially salt and was not edible. I felt bad and didn't say anything as our waitress clearly felt bad! So I definitely give an E for effort in terms of the staff as it's clearly not their fault. The ambiance was lovely, filled with nice little trinkets and soft music. Let's start by clearing up confusion: this is the original, smaller location near the corner of Main. While they have the same food, for no obvious reason, I prefer this location. I first went to Adale in the late 90s but I'm an irregular customer. I'll go a few times in several months and then not at all for 6 months. On a recent visit, I re-sampled several of my favorites. As other Yelpers have noted, the prices are higher, the portion sizes might be a bit smaller, and there are no longer free sides. Shrinkflation. Four stars down to three. Despite that, the food is still flavorful and we enjoyed our meals. Chipotle Shrimp Tacos: Shrimp, salsa, black beans, and rice. Also available as a burrito. The default if you're unsure. El Presidente Burrito: Chicken, shrimp, beans, rice, lettuce, salsa, & pico de Gallo. Shrimp is on top for eat in and on the side for take out. My favorite. 90s Burrito: Chicken or Shrimp. Greens, Avocado, Tomatoes, Corn Chips, Goat Cheese & House Dressing -- in a spinach tortilla. Weird but works. An acquired taste for sure. No one has ever been able to tell me why this is the 90s. Fish taco: cod with spicy cabbage and avocado salsa. Comes with two shells not four, like some places. I remember there being much more fish. It's a Bay Area institution and certainly for Los Gatos. They changed this location from self-serve to table service a few years ago and they have a nice outdoor seating area in the back as well. The expanded menu has also added some nice variety. My usual is the chile relleno which is fantastic, but decided to try the quesabirria which was one of the newere menu items. They were fantastic! Sometimes the shredded beef can be dry and tough, but it was very tender and flavorful. Nicely crisped tortillas, a little bite from the raw onion and nice oozy cheese. Dunked into the consomme is the perfect pairing. We started with guac and chips which usually are pretty good, but last night was slightly watery which also made it a little more bland which was unfortunate. This restaurant is a gem! Staff is super friendly, the interior is really nicely maintained with a very nice patio as well. The food was EXCELLENT. The menu is big with lots of variety and everything is clearly labeled. I am the only vegan in my family so I love restaurants like this that have options for everyone. When I asked the woman behind the counter about this she said, "what ever is there is all we have"...really??? it was 6:15pm and you are out of the key ingredients of a Mexican Restaurant???
