I came with my dog on a hot day for lunch and not only did I get patio seating and food quickly, but also felt like the servers really made sure we were comfortable, from getting water for my dog to offering to switch my table to get out of the sun. I really was a bother (asking about orange juice which wasn't on the menu, ordering and handing off takeout to a family member down the street before paying...long story) and they were beyond graceful and trusting about it. Simply put...overpriced average food with tiny portions. Tacos are $7 dollars each with absolutely no side dish. Not even a few tortilla chips. God forbid if you ask for fish or shrimp tacos, then it's $5 more for a total of $12 each. You probably have to eat about 3-4 to get full.. My son wanted a brunch item and it was 2:09 pm. We asked the waiter (guy), he said they stop serving brunch at 2:00 pm and couldn't care less to make an exception. Same guy, in the midst of our meal, walks out the door as I presume his shift ended. Not a word that he is leaving and some other lady just shows up as if she has been serving us all along. Good apres bike riding spot for lunch. They offer indoor, sidewalk, and curbside seating. We elected to eat on the sidewalk to people watch and enjoy the day. Our waitress was really nice and the ambiance is great for going out with the girls. A great place for dinner & drinks. For those complaining about price for just "tacos" consider that this is an upscale Mexican spot and not a taco truck, it's nice to have upscale ethnic spots and Mexican food is not equivalent to cheap food. At 530 pm there were several parties lined up to check in. The first party 4 young girls were sat down by hostess (Jaiden). We all waited for him to wash their table, making another trip to get napkins and tableware. Next was our turn, we had a reservation. The hostess acknowledged us and said he would set our table shortly. He proceeded to take care of 4 more tables setting them up and never coming back but made us wait 10 mins. I was so overwhelmed with his blatant rudeness. He was horrible! It ruined our dinner! I have lived in Los Gatos for many years. We have had Mindy wait on us many times. There are many young people that want to work. Jaiden doesn't deserve to work there. I will not go to Zona Rosa again if that horrible hostess is working there. Gluten Free Warning. We went to the restaurant because the menu leads you to believe most of the dishes are gluten free. They mark the few items that contain gluten. Finally, we thought we found a Mexican restaurant that had a lot of gluten free dishes to offer, including chips and guacamole. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They don't have a dedicated fryer, so it turns the where we thought 70% of the menu was gluten free, it turns out it is actually only 10-20% of the menu due to cross contamination. However, the food is incredible. I am not GF, but my partner is. The guacamole with pistachio's was fantastic. The chips are thick and crispy and the pistachios add a nice crunch. The empanadas are on the small side, but they have good flavor and love the sauce for dipping. I had the Al pastor tacos which were also very good. While my partner's choices were limited, they thoroughly enjoyed the salmon tacos. I really wish Zona Rosa would get a dedicated fryer. read more

The ambiance here is great- it's fun and lively and modern. The service was really good for how understaffed the restaurant was. There was only one server- with every table inside full and one outside- that's 11 tables. So we had to wait a good while to be greeted. But the server was hustling and he was on it after that. The food was good but nothing great. The enchiladas and fish taco were lacking in depth of flavor BUT the salsas from the tres salsa we ordered as an appetizer brought everything up a notch. Highly recommend getting the tres salsas as a starter to snack on and enhance your main course. We even mixed all three salsas together and it was really tasty. Wanted to like this place-cute. Food looked great! Taste ... BLAND. It's Mexican food so you should taste the different spices. And... it's pricey. Everything was bland: the chips and salsa, to the carnitas (tastes like an overcooked boiled plain piece of meat), chili relleno, guacamole... bland. The hero was the black beans which were flavorful and I had a strawberry Agua Fresca that was tasty (but at the price the very small juice glass size wasn't worth it). Dinner was almost $200 for 4 people and we had only 1 beer (no other alcohol). Definitely not worth the price but at any price wouldn't return because the food just wasn't very tasty. read more

One was a cashew salsa and the other was a pumpkin one, super fun and never had that before. The Tito's salsa was good as well, but more traditional. For my main dish, I ordered the Pesca Del Dia which id didn't realize was a whole fish (didn't read fully the menu)! This thing was perfectly fried and super fun to break apart to make my own fish tacos. It was accompanied by rice and beans and 3 handmade corn tortillas. The sauce was good, but a little sweet, but the fish was excellent. My gf ordered the alambre tacos and there were a bit of a disappointment. The chorizo and bacon overpowered the hanger steak and it just was very good. Our other friends ordered the pollo enchilada which the mole was a tad different than i am used to and super watery tasting... not the greatest. To finish the story, as we were being seated, one of the chairs had a nail sticking out and it punctured a hole in my gf finger... they did get us a band aide, but surprised they didn't replace the chair... maybe they didn't have any as this place is super small. Great food and service. We have been to the one on the Alameda plenty of times, first time coming here. We got the enchiladas suizas and they are some of the best enchiladas I've had at a restaurant. Guacamole extra was BOMB! Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside was the seating is cramped outside. Our server was cheerful and friendly and helped answer questions about menu items and suggested the better of two items I was interested in. She was also very helpful suggesting a nice reposado tequila. They checked on us a couple of times without over doing it. We ordered chips and 3 kinds of salsa. Yummy, from mild to zippy with surprisingly fresh flavors. I ordered shrimp and potato enchiladas with at least 3 kinds of cheese with an excellent well balanced verde sauce topped with sliced avocado. My wife loved their carne asada enchiladas with red sauce. She says the sauce had out of the ordinary flavors giving the whole dish an authentic comfort food vibe and was topped with pico de gallo. I was here for an engagement party and the ambience was romantic and intimate. Food was not impressive. The salmon tacos lacked salt badly and there was hardly any salsa on them. I also did not like the bacon in it. The hanger steak tacos were exceptional, not really anything to rave about but was way better than the salmon tacos. Not to go into too much detail, but we had some "oopsies" and the staff/owner wanted to make right by it -- they went above and beyond needless to say we were taken care of! I was so incredibly impressed and so respectable. For that reason, I will be coming back. On to the food -- it was amazing! We ordered a couple of tacos, potato taquitos and the chili releno. So delicious! The taquitos were fried but weren't greasy, homemade tortillas are always a plus and the chile releno was different, but it was good! We came in for a snack, got excited about the menu, and ended up enjoying all courses and cocktails, too. The guacamole is nothing like you've ever experienced before. The bacon was sticking out of the top of it like a mini Stonehenge. The elote appetizer had a savory, charred flavor that was excellent.
