Today I ordered the fish tacos with coleslaw and a small side of guacamole, their dishes do not include beans and rice as a standard they actually charge you an additional five dollars if you want to add that to your dish. We have already paid $17 for the fish tacos and now you add an extra five. No, about the food the fish looks like it was torn apart. I suppose it's because it's a delicate fish. A decent Mexican place in Los Gatos that I usually make online orders for. I usually get the El Presidente Burrito and 2 Baja Fish Taco. The burrito on the outside is a bit messy, as it is covered with guac and shrimp. I usually just start eating the burrito without it and spread the guac and a piece of shrimp inside between bites. Their guac is really good! The fish tacos are also pretty good. Crispy and crunchy. I do wish they gave a second tortilla on the bottom, otherwise if I leave the taco alone too long it might start getting soggy and rip more easily. read more

The burrito was also small. I have gotten way better, bigger and tastier burritos at my local Mexican market. The chicken tinga was good but just not great. Nice restaurant on the main Santa Cruz strip. It has a cozy backyard patio, and a smaller pet friendly patio area out front. It has been a long time staple in the area for many decades. Stopped by for dinner again recently and ordered... * Chips & guac -- Nice fresh tortilla chips. Guac was fresh but could have used more spice and tang. Congress with 3 different salsas... salsa fresca, green salsa and red salsa. * Enchiladas Verde -- Comes with 2 enchiladas stuffed with chicken, and a side of Spanish rice. Chicken was a little on the bland side. * Salmon Salad -- Grilled salmon was decent. Salad has a good variety of organic greens, cucumber, tomato, and bits of goat cheese and avocado with a light vinaigrette. Service was friendly enough. We had lunch here last week and the seafood relleno was excellent. So I brought my entire family. Wow, what a difference on Friday dinner. The waitress was smirky in a weird way, like she was just irritated with us. I ordered the Mesquite chicken salad because it was the first item and I felt some pressure to order since I'd arrived late. My husband had the vegetable relleno special and found it deeply under seasoned. My kids had a burrito and salad. No ine enjoyed this food, and the amount of salsa was too small and never refilled. Here is the real issue. I had a michelada with shrimp. The shrimp were boiled which is unheard of to me to serve them unseasoned and not grilled. There was cucumber, oranges, and celery in the drink, as well as a slightly seasoned rim. The drink itself was disgusting. I would estimate that there was an entire shot of Worcestershire in that drink. It was like Don Draper made it for someone he hates. If my waitress had come to check on it for any period of time or inquired why I had not consumed my drink, I could have said it was undrinkable. IMHO OMG, today I ate the best enchiladas evah!!! My friend and I both ordered the Andale Enchiladas with our choice of proteins. Our platters came out quickly and beautifully presented. The enchilada sauce was intriguing at first sight. It looked more watery and lighter in color, than I'm used to. However, this house-made ranchera sauce totally made the dish. It was wonderfully tasty and flavorful! I loved it!!! Alexander was our genuinely friendly and efficient server! We dined in the open-aired and covered back patio. My friend and I stopped in for lunch yesterday (5/14) which turned out to be the most disastrous lunches we've ever encountered. My friend's water tasted like Clorox and she was unable to drink it and the cheese enchiladas were runny. While our waiter was courteous and most helpful and brought it to the attention of the manager, it was all for naught! The manager smelled the water and said they used "distilled water" and never thought to change it. He said the enchiladas were not runny (although clearly they were) and simply disregarded our complaints. Our dear waiter kept on apologizing and commented he would have done something to appease our situation but clearly, the manager of this restaurant needs to take a "customer service skills" course on how to treat its customers. We've been to this restaurant on past occasions and we always experienced good food and attention but this is the very last time we will ever visit this place. Hence, he's lost two good customers and I recommend everyone who reads this to stay away. Incidentally, we also noticed another table complaining about the wine and the manager simply exchanged it for another glass. I wonder if it's because the lady was accompanied by a gentleman whereas he probably thought "who would believe two senior citizens"? read more

First of all let me start this off stating that the servers and staff are friendly and excellent. I am sure the cooks are too, however we did not meet them. This place was given to me as a recommendation m y a friend of mine. This friend had gone there years ago and thought it was excellent. Something unfortunately has changed, at least when we went there the other night. All 3 of us buds went into downtown Los Gatos to eat here, as one was staying in Los Gatos and we wanted to make it more convenient for him. WE sat in the back patio. So it was ok, but there were a ton of flies lingering around and flying, that was not the greatest, but there is not much you can do. Only one server for about 10-12 tables, and that was terrible. She was overworked and stressed. She smiled even though she was overworked in this. She seemed a bit scattered. Perhaps they should have 2-3 servers out there. So lets get to the food and drinks. Um well, not really great. Sadly my friends Ice Tea he complained tasted like soap :( So perhaps the glasses were not complete in rinsing. Lets now move on to my food that I ordered shall we. I ordered the carnitas, when they got to the table with the corn tortillas they were stale, the tortillas. The girl was nice enough to replace them with flour..which were great. The Carnitas were a bit tough and the portion was not very much, at least on my plate. My friend ordered the same thing and his was much more. Perhaps they figured since I was a huskier guy I needed the diet portion :) Nonetheless, it just was not the best. Sad to say, since we were expecting more. I am speechless. Seems everywhere you go now, either people and the venues either have lower quality due to all the covid stuff or not training staff well. Not sure what it is. Also could have been they were all overworked. I always try to give a fair review. However seems more and more reviews are lacking being stellar in presentations and food and service. I would recommend staffing more with servers. Having your assistants that bring out the food be quicker and more aware of issues before presenting. I cannot comment on the cooks, since I am sure they are doing the very best they can with the situations. Would I go back? Probably not given the whole evening and situation. Andale... to the bathroom. I rarely give restaurants two stars, and I feel bad because the service, atmosphere, and location are all great. But, I wouldn't eat there again. We didn't want to pay for chips and salsa so we got the nachos. Who has the best in Los Gatos? They're NOTchos. These were fine, though the cheese wasn't melted. The cheese for the fundido was not melted either: you have to andale before it coagulates. Maybe these guys didn't pay their gas bill. They might want to up the wattage of the hair dryer they're using. The not-so-fundido came with soyriso, corn tortillas, and bread that were dry. The potatoes were dry, too. Like maybe they don't even use oil? But super dry and completely dependent on the two small sauces: one, unpleasantly smoky, the other completely void of flavor. We didn't even finish them they were so dry. We took a bag of them home. Not to eat, but to stick in our iPhones in them if we accidentally drop them in water. Sucks that there are no soda refills given how dry and flavorless the food. I had to rely on my tiny $13 margarita. My mediocre El Presidente Burrito should have built that wall. To keep me from eating there. As I ate the seemingly undercooked, flavorless shrimp I told my wife to tell the doctor that's what got me. I started imagining Bubba from Forrest Gump. You can have shrimp salmonella, shrimp giardia, shrimp listeria, shrimp botulism, shrimp e. Coli... just kidding, just kidding. First time at this restaurant. There were a mix of good and bad things. I worry about the cleanliness of the place. 1st issue: the bathroom requires a code, but was trashed; paper towels everywhere on the floor and sink; and it is only 5PM! 2nd issue; The flies and gnats. I can understand there will be flies. but there was a gnat stuck to our water pitcher. I wiped it away. 3rd issue: was they handed my daughter a dirty plate for appetizers. They are no longer in either location, so I went back the original I first enjoyed many years ago. The food is still very good, but it didn't seem as special as it used to be. I gave them 4 stars ( waiter was so nice). but the food...Im not sure? Maybe we did not know what to order. I ordered Carnitas Taco (2). Dad ordered Chipotle Burrito ( maybe Chicken) plus he wanted the Bloody Mary. The $ 7 Chips were fresh but since I was tired of chips, I did not eat any ( quantity was small)...you can get free chips at Los Dos Com....so not sure why they charge $7. We might have not ordered the right things because everything lacked flavour? Although I liked the texture of Carnitas taco, it was just missing flavour ( Los Dos Com...has much better taco for way cheaper but Im keeping the whole name a secret). Dad step out ( not sure why he does that) and Mom started to drink his Bloody Mary. Although small the $ 10 Bloody Mary did not have enough tang nor not enough lemon. it was just a salty drink...maybe bartender does not know how to make them? I took it away from Mom ( diabetic) and took one tiny sip ( it did have huge olives on it tho) Dad also ordered the Chipotle Burrito ( I believe). He gave me a bite. It also had Zero Flavour, he might have had chicken. How they might be able to improve that partticular burrito is to put the salsa on the inside. To make it look nice, they put the Salsa on the outside with tiny tiny drizzle of Sour Cream. Athough it look beautiful, it was a tasteless burrito ( I think it was 17 dollars, cant remember). If they only put the the salsa on the inside (and add sour cream) it would have been a better burrito. I have yet to try the burrito at Los Dos Com...as they are only 13 or 14 there and free chips and their tacos have flavour. Couple days later we went to Siam ( Thai place Sunnyvale) and too much flavour ( especially the Larb Chicken) so much flavour in that place that i wondered why Andale had no flavour. Maybe we had no idea what to order. We returned to Andale 2 weeks ago and despite standing idle for more than 5 minutes to be seated, NONE of the staff would even GREAT us or say Hello!! They kept passing by and going to service customers in the Sidewalk area! It was my wife and daugther and me! And I am 6 foot 3! All they had to do is say "hi, and will be with you in a few"!! That's ALL it would have taken. But NONE of the more than 3 waiters and the hostes would acknowledege our existance. I was looking forward to going to Andale since my husband told me it was one of his favorite Mexican places to eat. However, we were really disappointed by our experience today. My husband, I and my newborn baby walked into the restaurant to eat in the back patio area since that's what my husband had done for many years, and considering our newborn baby could get fussy anytime, we wanted to be outside so as to not potentially interrupt other guests' meals. According to my husband who has been going there for more than twenty years, he used to place his order at the front counter inside and then bring the food to either the patio out back or his seat inside. So, we went directly to a back patio table and then returned up front to check in with a waiter as to how to order. When we asked the waiter (host?) about placing an order, he was extremely rude to my husband. The waiter told us that we ignored him on our way in, and that we cannot eat in the back patio. My husband apologized many times and explained that we were not aware that there was now a host or that we now needed to be seated by this host. . Honestly, I did not see any host welcoming us when we entered. We immediately left the restaurant right after that very unpleasant interaction. I have to say how the food tastes is one thing, but how long-time customers are treated is another. My husband was visibly shaken from how he was addressed. October 21, 2025. My wife and I had lunch at Andale on October 15, 2025. The bill came to $60.09. Recognizing that the food and service were both below average, we added an $8.50 tip. However, when the charge appeared on my account, it was for $76.58, which is 27.3% higher than the original bill amount. I contacted the restaurant today to express my concern about this significant overcharge. Unfortunately, the manager responded in a very aggressive manner, accusing me of fabricating the situation and falsely claiming that I had intentionally added such a large tip. This is unacceptable, and I demand a sincere apology from the restaurant management for their unprofessional and accusatory behavior. Furthermore, I request the immediate reimbursement of the incorrect total of $76.58 that was charged to my account. In the past, I used to eat at the Palo Alto Andale at least once a week. I loved it and was excited to try the Andale in Los Gatos. Unfortunately, I had a very different experience at the Los Gatos location. In Los Gatos, we walked up to the front podium and was met with a very rushed Miguel who took our name and then ran away. We then walked outside and asked if we could sit at an open table. Once seated, we ordered and then asked for a side of Pico de Gallo and was told that a very small portion would be $1.50! The food was good, though the rice was cold and the portions smaller than I remembered. The real issue was when Miguel asked us to leave (we had just paid about ten minutes before) since he "needed the table." I was shocked! I have been going to Adelaides since they opened in 1989. We met the owners as they started their takeout res on North Santa Cruz ave downtown Their quality of "Real" Mexican food was the best we've ever eaten. The management team are all family Mexican people. Very nice, warm, servers. The bright paint and paintings on the walls are beautiful. The staff are very nice and helpful. The food is exceptional.
