Super wet burrito with red and green sauce
Spencer L.

Tried this spot for lunch and had a great burrito! Food: 5/5 I got a super carne asada burrito wet with red and green sauce. The burrito was large, had a good amount of meat and I enjoyed the green and red sauce. Customer Service: 5/5 I ordered it take out, so there is not much to report on the customer service. However, the staff were very nice and they did offer to add extra salsa cups. Price: 3/5 The price was a little high in my opinion. I paid almost $19 for the burrito and there were no chips with the order. Ambiance: 3/5 The restaurant is clean and well kept. It's great for a quick lunch or dinner. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Overall, a good experience ordering takeout from this restaurant. I'd come back.

Beef flautas with black beans, enchiladas suizas (1 chicken 1 beef) very delicious!
Julia O.

Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. The chips and salsa are $2.95 but they are homemade and the salsa was fantastic. Little ambiance to speak of but they do have booths. We had the house margaritas which were very big but needed more tequila and fresh lime juice. At about $15 each that is important! Very happy we stopped in for dinner!

This place was amazing. Food was hot , plenty of cheese in our burrito , everything was fresh floor were clean. It's funny having service dog you start to notice how dirty some floors are just because you look down more often and he got to lay on a nice clean cool floor being as it was a warm day. Friendly service and great portion size I got to take half my burrito home for tomorrow lunch I big plus for me .

These guys do a great job. Food is always yummy. The salsa is really good. The chili verde is the best.

As a regular I love their tacos and salsa. Food is great never oily but the service has gone down. I used to go regularly at least twice a week. Until an incident a few weeks ago. When I visited for dinner the server forgot to close my check. The next time I visited the manager belligerently accused me of not paying my bill. She yelled at me refused to serve me until I pulled up my bank statement and showed her that I did pay on the prior date. After realizing her mistake she served me with my food and gave me a complimentary coke but it didn't make up for the emotional distress of the confrontation so I don't see myself returning to this location. I rate this location two stars because of the tacos but the treatment was unacceptable.

Still great! The carnitas here is so good, you e got to go try it! Service is quick and friendly. Nice outdoor seating area, as well. Covered area on the patio. They charge extra for chips and salsa.

DISAPPOINTED! Grilled chicken deluxe, but there was VERY LITTLE to no chicken.
Heidi F.

DISAPPOINTED! ordered the deluxe version of their grilled chicken burrito but very little to almost NO chicken , Loaded up with the cheaper fillings. If I wanted a rice and bean burrito I would have ordered one. The food is seasoned good, it's authentic, atmosphere: counter service with tables to eat inside or out, and it is clean. Average mom and pop Mexican walk in.

Carne asada burrito (grande $10.95)
Jennifer H.

Mm... Carne asada burritos! It's been tough finding great Mexican food at affordable prices in the Bay Area. Pre and post inflation scaries. Dona Maria was a great find. The food is good - prices vary but for the burritos they are on par with most other places. For a $10.95 grande burrito you get a good sized tortilla stuffed full of rice, beans, meat, cheese, avocado, onions, and cilantro. I personally couldn't really taste the cheese though, so not sure if they skimped a bit there. The avocado was buried in the middle of the burrito but still present. There was a good amount of meat - maybe a 1:1:1 ratio of rice:beans:meat. For the area, this is a solid place to grab a burrito that will mostly fill you up. If you're really hungry, might be good to grab some sides too. I would come back again.

Potato Taco Combination Plate (~$17).
Greg W.

Rounding my stars up since I'd give Dona Maria a 4.5 star rating overall. Got the potato tacos combination plate (~$17) which comes with three potato tacos, Mexican rice, and beans. The potato tacos were fantastic. The shells were deep fried and crispy. The potatoes were both soft and had a nice mouthfeel. The fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese on top put the icing on the cake. The Mexican rice and beans could've been better. They weren't quite as flavorful as some of the other rice and beans I've had elsewhere. They weren't bad though. I wish the prices were cheaper. I do miss paying $2 for potato tacos, but with inflation it is what it is. I also wish they still provided free chips and salsa, but I get it too that nowadays certain luxuries are no more :-( Anyway, for the Bay Area, Dona Maria is pretty good quality Mexican food. It can be difficult finding a solid Mexican food joint, so I'm glad to have found this place. Eating out in general has gotten expensive so I can't fault them for being a bit more expensive than I'd prefer - at least not too much. I'll be back to try other options.

Food, drinks and staff have always been solid and consistently great but my evening tonight topped it all. After my friend left, I ordered food to go and a drink, went to the bathroom. The bartender was so fast.. but noticed I was alone so she kinda hid my drink until I got back. Then a little later I got sad because of a recent loss of a loved one. I was quiet, calm but this amazing woman noticed and checked on me. ‍ if I didn't love this place enough already, my stars tonight touched my heart. Thank you

I'm down for a place that named their restaurant after a dog. I appreciated that the chip basket wasn't huge - therefore we didn't over eat before our meal came. I ordered iced tea, and unfortunately, it was from the fountain, not fresh brewed, so I asked for a soda instead. This is one of the reasons I docked them 1 star. Salsa was decent, but the chips were a mix of stale and not stale. I am not sure how that happened, but I think they could improve their chips greatly - especially if they are mixing older ones with newer ones. I prefer light crispy thin chips and these were thicker. Food was really good - I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco with rice. My partner had shrimp fajitas. The fajita portion was incredibly generous and my tacos were great. If I came back, I would hold the sauce, because I don't like creamy sauce slathered on my tacos. The rice was the highlight of the meal - it was perfection. The interior of this place is fresh, modern and clean - not something you get very often in a sit-down Mexican restaurant, so I was a huge fan. Service was attentive, even though we were at an odd time, well after lunch but before dinner.

That said, the timing and service were a different story. It was a slow Sunday evening, yet the wait for our food took much longer than expected. Our server was friendly, but when the fajitas arrived, only the shrimp was brought out. The chicken I ordered was forgotten. I politely mentioned it, and when the chicken was brought out, it came out extremely smoky--so much so that our entire table and nearby tables were coughing. It sizzled a bit too aggressively at first, which wasn't very pleasant, though it eventually died down and I was able to enjoy it. For dessert, I ordered the churros. I believed the menu indicated they came with vanilla ice cream, but they were served with whipped cream instead, and the churros themselves were hard rather than soft, which was another disappointment. I'm giving three stars because the food itself was delicious. The experience was just impacted by service delays and a few execution issues.

And of course the food was so comforting to suit the atmosphere. I ordered the Albondigas con Arroz which was like a warm hug - and it came so quick even though it was busy! God forbid if you ask for fish or shrimp tacos, then it's $5 more for a total of $12 each. You probably have to eat about 3-4 to get full.. My son wanted a brunch item and it was 2:09 pm. We asked the waiter (guy), he said they stop serving brunch at 2:00 pm and couldn't care less to make an exception. Same guy, in the midst of our meal, walks out the door as I presume his shift ended. Not a word that he is leaving and some other lady just shows up as if she has been serving us all along. Very weird vibe in this place. Zero stars is all this place deserves. I am baffled how this place stays in business. Definitely a hard pass.
