    Cordant "Hyberbole" Pinot Noir 2022
    James P.

One of our favorite go-to spots for date nights. Rootstock is a fun, relaxing, and easy going environment with a very good wine selection and delicious food options. Depending on your mood, you have a choice of three seating options. Inside is a more formal option with table or bar seating. Outdoor patio if you want to get some fresh air while being connected to the indoor seating and a separate outdoor seating arrangement with tables that's parallel to the street if you want to be more private. We usually choose the outdoor seating as we can have a more intimate dining experience. We chose to get a bottle of Cordant Hyperbole Pinot Noir, chicken pesto sandwich and a 2x2 cheese & charcuterie platter. The wine was fantastic - bold wine, well balanced, very easy finish for being a younger wine. This sandwich was delicious, it had a fair amount of chicken, with fresh spring mix, pickled onions, tomato and Brie to bring it all together. The bread was actually my favorite part. The 2x2 platter was standard, nothing out of the ordinary. The size of the cheeses was slightly underwhelming, nevertheless enjoyable. Service was great. We were educated on the wine club and decided to join! We were able to get a discount on our bill and also get discounts on wines in future visits. Seeing that we come here relatively frequently, it totally made sense. Definitely come check this place out for any occasion, date night, dinner, lunch with friends, ect. They also have live band music at times. Great spot!

WOW! Grace was an incredible, friendly server and had so much knowledge about the wines my husband and I were trying. We did the "Perfectly Pinot" flight with olives and burrata and it was an excellent pairing with the wines - I highly recommend all things listed. Music was awesome!! We sat outside and were super comfortable and loved watched the busy street of people on a Friday night. We are excited to go back and learn more from Grace and try more options from the extensive menu.

A couple friends and I came by one afternoon on the weekend. It was pretty quiet inside and the service was attentive. We order a version of a bruschetta appetizer, deviled eggs and wine. The appetizers were delicious! The wine was pretty good too. It's a nice little spot to hang out and relax.

Came here for a wine flight and food for lunch with a friend and we had a very nice time. We sat inside in the back on the couches which were super cozy. I ordered the "around the world" flight which is three red wines from Italy, Spain and Portugal. I also ordered the pear and prosciutto sandwich which was delicious and came with a side salad. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall a very nice time and I will definitely be back!

Stopped in for a glass of wine and a quick bite yesterday. The service was fantastic and everyone was really friendly and very informative about the wines they serve. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and trio of bruschetta. Everything was really good! They have bands that play couple nights a week so it can be a bit loud inside but it's a festive environment. They are more on the pricey side with glasses of wine costing anywhere from 22.00 to 50.00! It might be better to just a bottle at that price!

Came here with a couple of girlfriends on a Saturday evening and it was quite lively! There was live music which was a nice surprise. I got the Euro Trip flight and it was delicious, all the 3 wines are on the dry side so I definitely recommend for dry wine fans. We ordered the Pecan Coated Herb Goat Cheese w/ Crackers and it was so amazing, also came with honey. I'm definitely going to bring others here!

We came right before 5pm, before the kitchen opened so we ordered drinks while we waited. Husband was very impressed with their wine list, which is a good sign. He was excited to try different wines and it's awesome they offer half pours so he could try more. But oh-my-gosh. GET. THE. SANTORINI. I loved that drink. Milk punch, yoghurt ... it was so refreshing and milky. I felt like I was in south of France or in Hawaii, sitting on the patio with the slight breeze and plants around and quiet atmosphere. It was so yummy, I got a second. This is a big indication how good the drink is because 99% of the time I usually have my husband finish my drink and never order a second one...especially the SAME ONE. But omg, I need to go back to get another. I've been dreaming of it. Service was great. Esp since we were one of the only guests, they tended to us well. It can be easy to forget about the guests on the patio but their cadence in checking on us was good. Portion sizes for the food is quite generous. We're used to octopus dishes coming out really small as tapas, but they gave a lot. And I loved the fried kidney beans that came with it. I liked how the bluefin tuna crudo came in a light oil and not overly sauced or salty. Pork chop ... WOW. Huge portion, we were so impressed. Rich flavors, delicious. Boar pappardelle, daughter did her happy food dance so you know it's good. Al dente and great taste.

But hey, things might turn around. My steak was....not good at all. Can't remember the last time I was that disappointed w steak. Had to spit out a few bites bc I literally couldn't break up the meat in my mouth. Taste was simply bad. Service was just as bad. Never checked on us once. I had to flag the server down to get a second drink. And that was it. Never seen again. A terrible time, overall. Couldn't wait to leave.

This place is owned by a husband and wife team. The tasting room in Los Gatos is cute with several tables, couches and seating at the bar and limited seating outside. You can walk in for a tasting or a glass or two of wine but it's best to make a reservation if it is a larger group. Tasting is $20 that is waived with purchase of 2 bottles or if you become a wine club member. The parking is the difficult part, but it's just to this tasting room. Downtown Los Gatos in general has limited parking. The first time I arranged a meetup event tasting here, it was not that busy on a weekend. Gail, one of the owners served us. What all of us noticed is that while she poured the wine for our tastings, she did not linger to talk about each wine nor did she promote the wine club or even ask us if we wanted to purchase anything. It was not busy at all so can't blame it on that. We wrote it off as a fluke. But, this happened the next time we went as a group and at the various wine walks. Gail will be smiling and will pour the wine for the people in front of us but as my group and I approach, the smile is gone. She will pour the tasting but wait for us to move on - again no explanation on what she is pouring etc. This past week, I was talking to her at an event and she just brushed me off with her hand and talked over me to some one else. I met the husband at the 2024 Vine to Wine event and we had a long conversation, which was a welcome change. Frankly, I don't remember what she poured or whether it tasted good, I came away with the memory of the person pouring.
