Super burrito (dry) with carne asada.
    Lara F.

We did takeout. There are a few tables and bright and cheerful atmosphere. The bathroom is on the left when you walk in. As you walk in, there's a big menu board up top and a very helpful cheerful person behind the cash register ready to take your order. There's a steam table with lots of options that you can see. And it's an open kitchen. The two cooks were fast and accurate. We got a carne asada super burrito, nachos (with carne asada) and chicken flautas. All the meat was clearly well marinated and seasoned. The next day I was eating the chicken out of the second flauta and it was so good. We really enjoyed the food and felt it was a lot for the price.

Hits the spot. I don't think you can go wrong with the super burrito or asada fries. The meat wasn't dry, seasoned well, and the right amount of savory for me. I'm soooo happy I found a closer location to me than the other one deeper in San Jose. The service is always very kind and thoughtful. I just don't have any complaints so far, I'll keep continuing to order here. It's a solid choice to hit that craving, I look forward to trying their tacos and tortas some time.

My go to hole in the wall spot. This place never disappoint me. Their orange sauce is fire, spicy goodness. Free chips too! Yes please .

Great service and they gave healthy sized portions of food! Not the largest seating area but liked the atmosphere inside.

Crispy tacos - which are very delicious and pretty hard to find on the peninsula. These have beef, but you can choose your meat.

A taqueria that has food that tastes like San Diego that is just different from up north. I'm pumped to have found it.

    Love some outside seating!

Located right on the corner of Bascom and Union Ave, where I typically drive by and never pay attention to shops there as I'm mostly a creature of habit. On this one day did decide to stop when I noticed there was a little Eatery, right on said corner called LUCYS MEXICAN GRILL. Walking in the first thing that I noticed is how clean the place is. I mean like really clean. The attention to detail you don't typically see out there anymore, unfortunately. I was also greeted by the nice young lady behind the counter who made me feel welcome instantaneously. She made some recommendations for what I should eat. I ended up with a super burrito with carne asada , and she asked me which hot sauce I would like with my meal. I wasn't sure since I had not been here before and was not familiar with what they offered, so she was kind enough to give me one or two of each and told me to come back and let me know which one that I liked the best. The food was prepared quickly and put together well and was delicious. (oh and I picked the red salsa. It is delicious but watch out it is hot!) There is inside seating and outside seating and I'm sure once the weather warms up a bit more, I will be back to spend an afternoon or early evening on the patio, enjoying the weather and some amazing food! This experience goes to show you should always look around you as sometimes little treasures are right in front of you and all you need to do is open your eyes and see them. Well done!! I will definitely be back.

The staff was good. Ordered chicken asado, was terribly dry and chewy. They also give a bag of chips as a side with salsa which were good.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

The service is not the best and you have to try hard to catch the servers attention. The food was better this time, but not as good as many other Mexican restaurants. It is not what I consider authentic Mexican food.

Fast food is overpriced and unhealthy. So what are your options? Look no further, because Los Pericos (The Parakeets) has one of the best family meal deals in the Bay Area! It's extremely affordable and delicious. The family meals include tacos with your choice of meat, beans (refried or whole), Mexican rice, salsa, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. They offer four sizes: 1 lb, 2 lb, 3 lb, and 4 lb of meat. They also have fresh carrot and orange juice, which I always enjoy while waiting for my order. I stopped by the following night and found a place at the bar. The staff were extremely helpful. The space is nicely decorated. The food is really nicely done, even in the context of vegetable forward dishes. In terms of food, I ordered the Chile relleno de calabacitas, and it was excellent. A nice portion of tart tomato sauce, plus rice and beans. Plus a nicely down relleno that didn't lean too hard into the concept of a deep fried orb of whipped egg whites. There's not anything wrong with the traditional version, but this felt a touch lighter. It was really nicely assembled. I'll also note that the house chips and salsa were extremely well done. The chips were clearly prepared in house. The salsas were flavorful and interesting. It was an excellent spread. Beer options were somewhat lacking: just Mexican lagers, but that's mostly just par for the course. That's what they're aiming for. All told, this was an excellent destination, it's pretty clear why it seems to be packed on a regular basis.

It was relatively empty, with only one other party seated at the time. Service was friendly and quick, and we got our food pretty quickly after ordering. It's got a quaint hole in the wall kind of vibe, but was still clean - though not very air conditioned. We missed it, but there was a salsa bar in the corner near the entrance. We were served complimentary salsa and chips - nice refreshing, tomatoey and lightly spicy salsa. We also got guacamole, which you could tell was freshly made, chunky and refreshing. Glad we got this, because it helped cut through how heavy the molcajete de mariscos we got was. We were NOT expecting how large the mocajete is - this can probably be split across 3 if not 4 people. It comes out boiling hot, and with 3 tortillas, and a side of beans and rice. When we ordered, they asked us if we would want more tortillas since it comes with only 3 - we didn't even finish the 3 it came with. The sauce was tasty, tomatoey and spicy, and it was chock full of mussels, squid, sooo many shrimp, a whole filet of fried fish, and other goodies - unfortunately most of the seafood was pretty dry/overcooked. It came out to about $60 for the two of us. Overall, the mocajete was fun to try, but I think next time I'd try some tacos or a burrito if I were to come back.

When I tried the food last year, I ordered the Blackened Salmon but asked to have the coleslaw taken out since I don't like it. While I enjoyed my meal, I wasn't full and figured spending $20 wasn't worth if I wasn't going to get a full meal. What made me come back to Aquis is eating with the same friend who hyped up the place. She told me I could actually get different veggies and try it with the herb sauce. When I did this, it was a game changer!! It was nice that I could enjoy a full meal and the herb sauce is a must every time I dine. It is a creamy, fresh sauce that can be paired with anything. It tasted great with the salmon too. You may be thinking, why not order a different dish if I don't like coleslaw? The thing is, the other dishes here are more of mexican cuisine, and I rather go to an authentic joint. Also, they cook seafood very well! The Blackened Salmon was so good, I actually ate it twice in a row. Funny enough, the worker recognized me from the day before. Aquis is definitely a spot to check out, and they are busy on the weekends!
