    Chicken Fried Waffle

We popped into here before a long drive, and had every intention of stuffing ourselves. We were super successful- the food was amazing! I got the Los Gatos Lu (southern fried chicken over biscuits and gravy) and ate the entire thing with zero regrets. It was delicious. My boyfriend got the chicken fried waffle and he absolutely loved it- there was huge chunks of fried chicken in the waffle. It's exactly what he pictured! We also had plain coffee, and it was delicious coffee. Not sure what kind it was but yum!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago and have already been back again because we enjoyed it so much! Overall, this is a very good breakfast / brunch spot, and well worth the driving over from the South Bay. First, I truly think there's something for everyone here, as Southern Kitchen has an expansive menu of both Southern-traditional, other savory and sweet options, and even substitutions. I've really enjoyed (and devoured) the eggs benedict with chorizo; the chorizo is house made, it's flavorful and a little greasy (which I like), and they don't skimp! I also like that this comes with avocado, and the eggs have been perfectly runny. I've ordered my entree with country potatoes both times, and they were inconsistent but not necessarily bad--one time they were more on the crispy side, and this last time they were just soft. My boyfriend ordered pancakes the first time, and fried chicken / biscuits the second time. He loved the big, fluffy pancakes, but the fried chicken missed the mark a bit. The biscuits were delicious and fluffy, but the dish seemed a little short on gravy, and he did not love that the chicken was bone-in (it was very little fried chicken by the time he worked around the bone). As for ambiance, both the indoor and outdoor seating feels a little close to other people, but we also appreciate that this feels like a smaller, friendly neighborhood restaurant. Lastly, we had great service one time and very slow service the next time, but they were completely full on a Sunday, so that's understandable. We look forward to another visit in the near future!

Great location in downtown Los Gatos Came in mid week, for late brunch. Had some ice tea and tried the chicken waffles for the first time in my life. It definitely covers breakfast lunch and might even dinner. Huge portion, I've asked the gravy on the side as I wasn't sure about it, indeed I didn't like it much. My server was really nice and it wasn't busy so food came out really quick. Only problem was all the yellow jacket bees which was kinda annoying but not much to be done about it

I had the perfect huevos rancheros, today. Eggs a perfect over medium on top of crispy corn tortillas. A nice layer of refried beans and chorizo coating the tortillas. Fresh salsa and avocado slices with a sprinkle of cheese to round it off. Hash browns were nice and crispy and Pam kept my mason jar cup of iced tea full. Great way to start off the day!

Friendly staff and very accommodating to our rather large party. I had the breakfast of champions and it was a good amount. Fluffy pancake, thick bacon. However I asked for over-well eggs and it was runny. Vanilla latte was okay. I'd come back here for some breakfast.

(Tom Cruise voiceover) The vibe is warm Southern hospitality right here smack dab in Los Gatos! Pam warmly greeted us! She is fab! Cold press juices! Wow! Cappucino avec quatre shots! Perfect! Veggie Benedict! Healthy! Corn Beef Hash w/ Poached Eggs! Exquisite! And bien sûr le Frickles! It's why I'm here! Satisfying! And prochainment le Fried Green Tomatoes! Would order everything again! Thanks, Pam! Woohoo!

Southern-style diner with breakfast food. I got the Southern omelette, which was pretty good, but the hash browns didn't taste like much. I really liked the coffee cake, which reminded me of a churro. The grits also had very little taste.

Great food and good service. What we order, and rating: Drinks: -matcha latte 3.5/5: good drink a bit bitter, but i added a bit sugar. -vanilla chai 4/5: taste like christmas Food: -meat lovers with pancake 4/5: relly good, just wish the omelette was a bit bigger. -chicken and waffle 5/5: chicken is inside the waffle. Waffle tasted like a funnel cake. Delish! Overall, will go there again. Only problem is finding parking.

Post-Wedding Brunch Vibes & Coffee Cake Worth the Hype.... We went to Sarah's Southern Kitchen today at 10am to meet up with my little brother before driving back to Sacramento. We were in town for a wedding last night and needed one last good meal before hitting the road. No reservation, but we were seated quickly inside. The place is cozy but definitely loud--lots of energy. I had their signature shrimp and grits, which were good but needed more salt and that little extra something. Even my boyfriend--who's from New Orleans--agreed. He ordered the huevos rancheros with housemade chorizo and it was amazing. I ended up stealing a good chunk of it. My brother went all in with French toast and the Champion's Breakfast, a classic all-American plate. We wrapped it all up by sharing the blueberry coffee cake, which was hands down the best part--moist, flavorful, and served with real butter on the side. That little touch made it. Service was great, but dishes came out one by one, so we waited for everything to arrive before eating. That meant some food cooled down by the time we all dug in--not ideal, but not a dealbreaker either. #PostWeddingBrunch #ChorizoWins #CoffeeCakeCravings #LoudButWorthIt #SaturdayFuel

I am back in Los Gatos and came here for breakfast but it was so crowded and usually worth the wait. . I have eaten here several times and it's pretty good for Southern food. Grits are gluten-free and everything else is pretty good

Since we had a large group, there was a bit of a wait for us to get a table which was understandable. However, it took an extremely long time to get our food, over 30 minutes which was not worth it especially since others who came after us got their food before us. I really enjoyed the breakfast burrito, it was great along with the sauce, and the hash browns were very plain. In my opinion, the food was good but it was very pricey.

Super yummy and comforting breakfast. We stopped by for a brunch date before visiting monterey aquarium. Service was super fast and the servers were very sweet. I love love grits. The sausage had a tasty smokey flavor and was perfectly cooked. The decorations are very warm and comforting with a classic diner feel.

Tasty American breakfast served in big portion, skip lunch if you come for breakfast ! Came here on weekday breakfast around 9:30 and sat on outside table. I ordered California egg Benedict with side of hash brown. The egg was runny inside which I like and tasty with bacon and avocado. The hash brown was crispy outside and soft inside. It doesn't have any seasoning so you need to season with salt & pepper or ketchup. French toast my friend ordered was very big portion and comes with whipped butter & maple syrup. It was too heavy if you eat all by yourself so I would recommend sharing. Their service was fast and attentive as it was not so busy on weekday and food is decent.

I'm so excited. I just heard that you serve gluten-free pancakes. Is this true?

    Yes we do!

    Do they take reservations?

Not that I know of. Put your name on the list. Before 8 am you should have no wait.

Is your oatmeal steel cut oats and is it made with water or made with milk?

Hello Laraine, our out meal is the old fashioned kind and is made with water.

Will you be open on Christmas Eve for brunch?

    Yes we are! From 7-2.

Is this still located in Los Gatos? The covid 19 update says it is moving to Rocklin, CA?

Yes, we are still in Los Gatos. You can give us a call or check our website! Thank you

Is outdoor dining still an option?

    Yes it is!

Do you serve gluten free options?

Probably! But u gotta ask them

Is it crowded on weekday mornings around 9 or 10?

When we go in around 9am on a weekday, we are always seated practically right away.

Is it possible to order the fried chicken on top of pancakes or French toast?

I've always found them to be accommodating with special requests.

    Is there a parking lot?

There is a large underground parking garage nearby as well as street parking. Parking can indeed be challenging in Los Gatos at lunch and dinner time.

    Is it open on Easter?

    Yes we are

    Ok for dogs?

We have 2 2 tops for dog owners out front

I looked at my watch and replied, "That's two hours from now and there are lots of tables open right now." We got seated, our food arrived, and then it started raining harder. Instead of quietly moving out the couches to add additional tables and chairs, the staff dragged them all across the floor, creating loud scraping noises the entire time. It made for a really unpleasant dining experience. We asked for a little more coffee, but it never came. We even flagged down our server and she just stared at us blankly as if we had never asked. We eventually just got up and left. The food was good, but it doesn't make up for the terrible service and rude treatment.

All of the cocktails were well balanced with bright citrus, a decent amount of liquor, and not too sweet. My favorite was the basil punch, which tasted like a very elevated limeade. After that, however, we waited for 30 minutes without hearing anything further from our server. With our kids getting fussy, we eventually checked in with another staff member. A few minutes later, the manager came over to apologize, gave our kids free muffins, and assured us our food would be out shortly. It became apparent that our original server had gone on break and forgotten to put our order in, resulting in an abnormal wait time. When our food finally arrived, we received nothing more than apologies from the manager and server. We were hoping they would at least compensate us for the kids' meals given the unreasonable delay. To make matters worse, the free muffins had filled our kids up, so they weren't even able to finish their actual meals. Overall, the long wait definitely soured our experience. We hope the restaurant trains its staff to prevent mistakes like this in the future--and, when they do happen, to do a much better job of making things right.

It's that "hole in the wall" with a menu that screams "try everything" and presentation that will make you happy. Breakfast and lunch each offered from 7 am to 2 pm. Delicious isn't a big enough word to describe the food experience at Lou's. I really can't say more than that. I have had my favorite Ruben sandwich with fries many times over the years. Did I say delicious? Corned beef piled high, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Breakfast and lunch both exquisite. Did I say exquisite? Yep, I guess I did. And I meant it. Great food, friendly atmosphere, superstar wait staff. You can't say more than that. I love this place. And now the things that have to be mentioned. Oops, no reservations There are other versions of Lou's hospitality, however, I have only experienced this version on Los Gatos Blvd. One more thing that has to be said. By giving this review, I've really screwed myself. LOL! Because of this review, everybody and his tree will be trying to go to Lou's. You should too. This place must be experienced. The prices are about $20 to $25 per person with an adult drink. By no means outrageous. I will be going back soon. And pictures will follow. Opens at 7am and closes at 2 pm Thanks for your time.

We recently visited this breakfast spot and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience…read more The seating area is very tight and cramped, so if you go with a big group it will be to small. The food was good overall, but it was somewhat bland. The main issue was the service we received from our server, Maria D. From the moment we sat down, she did not greet us and took our order as if she didn't want to be there. Not once did she return to check on us or ask if we needed refills on water or coffee. I had to get up multiple times to request coffee, water, and even a to-go box. When I politely asked for her name, she ignored me twice. After bringing the receipt, she handed it to me in a frustrated manner and began clearing the table. While doing so, she dropped creamer on my phone. She never came back to collect the payment -- I had to get up again. When I approached her with the receipt, she told another server to take my payment without acknowledging me at all. We remained friendly and respectful the entire time, so this treatment felt very undeserved and disrespectful. I do want to thank Bethany, who was very kind and helpful whenever we needed assistance -- even though she wasn't our assigned server. She stepped in multiple times while also handling her own tables, and her kindness did not go unnoticed. Overall, this was one of the worst service experiences we've had, and it was disappointing because it could have been avoided with basic courtesy and attentiveness. I really hope management can give me a call or message back because it's not okay being treated like this for no reason!

I showed them all of my correspondence with Manresa and luckily the LG team was able to pull together a whole quiche and almost all of my pastry's, but it was a concerning that they were completely unaware of my order. Thank you to the internal team for making a bad situation good.

Their rendition of this rich, crisp, laminated Breton butter orgy is the best I've had in this country, and yes I'll die on this hill. Sandwiches are amazing, as are loaves of any bread you care to mention. Prices are somewhat high, as part of the affluent Silicon Valley ecosystem where a place like Manresa can thrive. But I would say it's fair value for the high quality. They serve Verve coffee, so this is also the place to get the best latte in Los Gatos (a town strangely lacking in good coffee given how stinking rich the population is). The atmosphere is standard modern coffee joint. Not super comfortable but fine. Some outdoor seating, a pandemic-era street patio situation. Service is generally friendly and competent at baseline, and often even better.
