Recently OMEE J 2 pops up in my social media feeds multiple times, I was intrigued by the great looking bento box of colorful ingredients so we picked a day to go get lunch. When we got there, looking at the menu, I quickly realized it's basically a fancy k-style poke bowl restaurant. Because the photos on Yelp are not up-to-date, their price per meal has gone up quite a bit: price went from $17.95 to almost $22 for a bento box. The portions are big I have to say, and the poke are fresh, but I want to say if you order there, try not to get too much sauce on the poke or it will quickly become very salty. I had to drink 2 cups of water after the meal because it's just way too much salt in the sauces.

Save yourself and skip the sides. I tried the chicken karage and for the price you pay it's not worth it. There is nothing special about the chicken itself. It was fried ok, taste ok, but very small portion for large amount of money. The poke bowl has been consistent and you can ask for the sauces on the side if you are doing takeout so the bowl doesn't sit drenched in sauce. Stick with the main item, poke.

This poke place has very generous portions, and lots of options! You can get 2 proteins, 2 sauces, and 5 additional toppings. I sat down in the restaurant after getting my bowl, and left feeling pretty stuffed. Compared to other overpriced poke places in the area, I'd say for the amount of food I got, it was worth it.

I was disappointed in the quality of the spicy salmon this time. Some pieces had a weird, chunky chew and the flavor was quite heavy on sriracha. The plain salmon was delicious as usual though as is the garlic butter, creamy garlic sauce and unagi sauce! Prices are also now $24 after tax and their yellowtail quantity is limited, so come earlier in the day.

Whoever decided to make a 44oz bowl is a genius.. At first I was overwhelmed by Omee J 2's selection of what to include in my bowl, but all of the possibilities are delicious so it really doesn't matter that much. Add-ons I would definitely not skip include: garlic butter and grilled corn for my base toppings, spicy crab meat, and tobiko. For sauce, you can't go wrong with classic unagi or garlic ponzu. I will note that the quality of their proteins was really good; I especially enjoyed the tuna! This is a really clean spot and the service was super fast. Lots of seating inside as well, so you can eat your bowl while it's still fresh.

This place is like another chipotle style poke place but with more Asian dishes. Poke (5/5): I really enjoyed the poke here. There were so many flavors to choose from and the bowl was so packed!

Think Chipotle, but upgraded! This spot offers a massive variety of toppings, including meat and fish, and the portions are huge for what you pay. I loved that they have a wide selection of appetizers and house-made drinks, too. It's a perfect, casual spot for a solid meal. The parking lot is a bit small and sits right off a big road, but it's manageable once you get in there.

This is the Chipotle of Korean food. It was fun to build a bowl guessing what might go with what. If you aren't familiar with Korean/Japanese flavors, you may have a challenging time picking out what you want. If you are familiar with the different flavors--go to town on your bowl of yummy perfection. Three stars because it was super loud and yelling so the person making my bowl can hear my choices was not fun. In the end, I looked at my bowl and it looked like hodge-podge of this and that without rhyme or reason. Is it worth $27 per bowl? No.

First time trying Omee J 2 and I really enjoyed it! I appreciate that they offer not only poke options but also cooked meats for those who don't eat raw fish. The staff were friendly, patient, and helpful in explaining all the ingredients. Everything was neatly organized, which I liked since I shared a bowl with my husband and we each have different topping preferences. The ingredients tasted fresh, and I noticed the team consistently wiping down surfaces, keeping the area behind the glass partition very clean. We went with a mix of spicy tuna and beef along with several toppings. I also liked that they have sauce mixture recommendations displayed on the glass which is super helpful if you can't decide. You can request complimentary water and extra bowls for sharing. Definitely plan to come back to try more of their bases, toppings, and sauces!

Solid spot if ure looking for healthy hearty options with large portions! Like everyone said, it's like Asian Chipotle. One standout I will say is that I truly commend them for being SO CLEAN. When I was ordering, the server was wiping down the equipment and counter every time after he had used it. So clean! As for the food, I'd recommend people to SKIP THE POKE. I know. How could anyone resist poke? I, for one, couldn't resist and got a scoop of the spicy salmon only to be disappointed by it's rubbery texture. I almost thought I was eating tuna instead. Salmon is usually fatty and soft, but this salmon had tuna like texture. The spicy sauce also lacked salt or any flavor. Not really spicy. But beyond the poke options, everything else is pretty good. I got chicken as well which was delicious. The garlic butter is AMAZING. I was worried it'd be too strong and buttery but it was not! I think besides the poke, the only other thing I wish that the sauces were just a bit more seasoned. It was bland, at least for mine. Anyway, I'd still totally come back again as this is such a great spot for those looking for healthy choices!

Omggg this was amazing! They have so many options. I love how they do poke salmon and chicken they are god options for those who are vegetarian as well. This was worth my $22. Two meals in one I had it for brunch and lunch. I wish this wasn't so far from me otherwise I'd get it every week!

Think Korean chipotle - build your own bowls Bowls were ~$22, but generous portions. It could be 2 meals for some I had this place saved for a while and wish I tried it sooner! Bowls are customizable and there is such a wide selection from base, protein, toppings, and sauces!! You don't usually see purple rice as a base (get it!!). For my protein, I ended up choosing spicy pork (DELICIOUS) and spicy salmon (also delicious). Pear slushee was light and refreshing. It was a good place to catch up with some friends as it's casual, but nice inside with lots of seating. Love this place!

Food is delicious and tastes fresh! So many options to choose from. I got the purple rice (highly recommend). The spicy mayo definitely has a kick to it. I'm definitely going to eat here again!

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. As a fellow Korean, let me give you some advice. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

He told me it would take about 15-20 minutes, and by the time we got there around the 15 minute mark, everything was already ready to go. The soup was SO good. Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. We're definitely looking forward to ordering from here again. Would love to try the seafood pancake and some of their other dishes next time!

They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better.
