I came here one Friday evening and arrived 5 minutes before opening, there was already many people waiting in line. However, for 2 people, I were able to still be seated immediately after opening. This restaurant has a variety of fish and specials that change weekly. Everything is reasonably priced for what you get. For two people, we ordered the sushi dinner that provided a variety of fish which also came with a miso soup and salad. The fish quality was good. Also got the combination dinner with tempura and sashimi. The tempura had a lot of vegetable variety (carrot, bell pepper, kabocha, sweet poato - 2 pieces of each) and 2 pieces of shrimp. The sashimi came with 3 pieces of salmon and 3 pieces of tuna. Tuna was my favorite. This combo also came with some miso soup, salad and rice. For appetizer we also ordered some smelt tempura (shisamo). It came with three smelt that had lots of eggs, and tempura sauce. Crispy, easy to eat the head to bones, but a touch under salted. For the day that I visited, they had a special of Sea Bass Nigiri (hirasuzuki). There was a bit too much wasabi so hard to taste the fish. The texture of sea bass had little bit of a chew, halfway between a fish and a squid. Overall, would definitely come back again.

We didn't expect much from this place and were pleasantly surprised. The nigiri were fresh, delicious, and well presented. Definitely recommend the kampachi and the sake.

I came here for my dad's birthday and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. I have been coming here since I was younger and it has always been good experiences! I personally prefer the sashimi rice bowls over their rolls. Ambience of the store is very nice and I love the layout of the store + the wooden construction of everything. We even got complimentary ice cream for my dad's birthday!

I enjoy coming here, and I have been here multiple times over the recent years. The food has been pretty spot on, and prices are expected. But last night I came by and ordered the tempura dinner and it came out looking burnt. If you look at other photos of the tempura, the batter looks fluffy and well done. But my tempura was over fried and just not very good. Besides that, the sushi is decent and recently went up in price. They have rotating specials and the servers are generally very hospital. I am definitely coming back and I am sorry to leave a negative review, I only hope my review is seen and quality is enforced. Next time, I will be sure to complain.

Tomi Sushi has been our go to sushi spot since Sushi Tei closed down, and it continues to impress. They always have a wide selection of fresh cuts of fish, and I love how appetizers and dishes are written out on paper posted on the walls around the restaurant. We ordered the omakase nigiri set. It comes with a bowl of miso soup, lightly fried shrimp head, and 10 pieces of nigiri chosen by the chef. We also ordered sliced mackerel and a grilled yellowtail fin. The miso soup had a really rich sweet dash broth, and the shrimp was fried perfectly. My favorite nigiri was the thinly sliced engawa, halibut fin, which was lightly salted with lemon on top. It had a light crunchy texture while still being fatty. The anago, eel, was really fresh and flaky. I also really liked the smoky char on the grilled yellowtail, dipping it in soy sauce.

Came here for a sushi lunch for 1 and had a good experience. I ordered a few random nigiri pieces and a roll for lunch. The lunch came with miso soup, which included a chunk of salmon. The soup was excellent, however, the salmon was very bony and even after picking most of bones out of the soup and off the salmon, my mouth still found one. That said, the nigiri was excellent! The only real negatives of the experience were the bone and the parking! Strawberry Park has notoriously bad parking, so if you have a reservation, try to show up early.

I understand why this restaurant always has a line! Best service! The staff were attentive and very warm. The food was so delicious that we over ordered :) We will be back!

For lunch, I chose the $100 Omakase. Given my personal preference--unless I am absolutely starving, I only eat sushi with akazu rice, the Edo-style--I opted for the sashimi-focused course. At Tomi Sushi, the shari is not Edo-style red vinegar rice, so sashimi was naturally the better match for me. The sashimi was in the "fresh-forward" style: pristine sourcing, precise knife work, and careful temperature control. The expression is clean and direct, without the layered fatty aromas and umami depth that come from aging fish. Portions were generous, and the ingredients themselves were of high quality. Among the other dishes, the Makini stood out as the highlight. The simmered fish carried depth yet remained light on the palate, with a well-judged balance of sweetness and saltiness. The finish was lingering and elegant--proof of skilled technique and a strong command of fire and seasoning. The miso soup, enriched with salmon bone, was another example of quiet craftsmanship: seemingly simple, but slow-cooked to yield a round, soulful broth. From a Japanese perspective, the essence of Omakase is not about ostentation or elaborate presentation, but about the philosophy and conviction that the chef conveys through each dish. Here, the message is clear: an emphasis on freshness, restraint, and solid fundamentals. Most importantly, the experience allows the guest to feel a quiet, genuine sense of happiness in tasting the chef's conviction--not luxury, but sincerity.

Food = 5; Service, Value, Ambiance = 4 It's been decades since I dined at Tomi Sushi and was reminded to include in Japanese dining rotation. Visited during the middle of lunch crowd during the weekday. Sat at the sushi bar. Lots of menu options: omikase, special of the day & regular menu. Including a descent selection of plant forward items when wanting a break from animal protein. 3 sushi chefs and 2 wait staff managing busy lunch crowd in dimly lit restaurant making me feel I'm dining in an old fishing hut in Japan. Colleague ordered bento box and a california roll, portion was enough for her to make two meals. I thoroughly enjoyed my plant forward selection of steamed spinach with bonito flakes, vegetarian roll (surprisingly much pricier than other rolls), and the grilled eggplant. The iced green tea was refreshing and not like matcha sweet. Would like to come back and try the omikase option.

small sushi spot located in the strawberry plaza. ordered the super bomb roll and like others said it has a nice kick to it. i didn't realize it was fried, but overall a decent roll. next time i would try a roll that was not fried. the toro nigiri was also good. would come back to try other things!

One of my favorite places. Staff is welcoming and is on point with their service. The Sushi is fresh & delicious. I always like to try their specials to see how things play out, which is usually positive. Great date spot, family restaurant, & more.

One of my favourite date night is four dollar sign omakase. But obviously that's not realistic on a frequent basis. When I'm craving for one of those date nights but don't want to spend four dollar signs, we go to Sushi Tomi!! We always know that we'll be happy because that's what Sushi Tomi is - reliable! We always ONLY get their nigiris (from their a-la-carte nigiri menu, not the sets) and we sometimes think that the freshness of their fish rival other high end sushi restaurants. IMO this is the best way to eat here - only get their nigiri's and try your best to order from their handwritten special fish menu. They probably make less money from fresh nigiri than a cooked bento box so that's why I think it's a better bang for your buck!! Their scallops and tuna are very good - the baseline for a good sushi spot ;) Uni can vary sometimes but still very good for a day to day spot. We also love the Eel Roll!!!! We get it each time and I always alternate between the nigiri's and the eel roll for the perfect bites! We've never tried their omakase as I enjoy selecting my preferred nigiris instead at a place like this. Before going, set your expectations and know that it will usually be at least a 30 minute wait for weekend dinners. Though annoying, I think it's a testament that I'm not the only one that think this is a great place! There is no online waitlist, you must be physically present to put your name down. I find that the wait here is shorter than the Mountain View location and the atmosphere is more comfortable as it's more spacious and quiet. While I love the nigiri's, a growth area for them is their service. They can be slow at times with getting items (such as chopsticks or refilling tea) but it doesn't stop us from thinking that's it's one of our favourite spots!

Came back from Japan and felt like I transformed back once I entered Tomi Sushi! This place is always our go to whenever we want some authentic sushi. All the servers are very nice and attentive, the food always comes out fast, and the interior really gives you the hole in the wall in Japan vibes!

My favorite bar is the bar seating has a foot placement which other places do not. Bathroom was also clean and there were instructions on how to eat dry ramen. Food: The soup was delicious! Phenomenal, the texture, marinade was tiers above other ramen places and you get an entire egg not just a half! To preface, I'm comparing my experience with the Tsujita in LA that I have been to before. The tsukemen is not as flavorful as I quite remembered. It wasn't until near the end of the meal that I noticed the broth was concentrated at the bottom. I highly suggest mixing the broth first before eating. This was not an issue when I ate at the LA location. The salmon bowl is a new dish I did not try previously. There's a unique smell to the dish, which either comes from the sauce or fish, that can be off-putting to some people. I suggest to go with the tsukemen the restaurant is known for.

Pickled radish is additional dollar, kinda wish the meal came with it. Honestly would recommend just getting the choice of protein with the curry because it's a couple dollars more than getting a la carte... Curry was very good! Nice flavors and the rice helped enhance it. I liked the menchi katsu the most. It is basically a deep fried beef hamburger with crumb coating, flavors were really good and was juicy; came with 2 pieces for a la carte. Can't go wrong with chicken or tonkatsu too. It is straightforward with a good mix of udon, rice dishes, small bites, and drinks, which I really appreciated. The food felt delicate but still had layers of flavor. Nothing was heavy or overdone. The rice was one of my favorite parts. It was crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly inside, which made it so satisfying. The chicken karaage was also really good. Crispy, tender, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you order karaage. The only thing I would probably skip next time is the mixed sake drinks. They are fruity and fun, but they tasted like they were made with sugary syrup. So if you do not want a sugar bomb or you are watching sugar calories, I would stay away from those. The inside has a cozy feel that reminded me a little of something you would find in Japan, but with a bit of an American touch. It felt clean, casual, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive without making anything feel rushed. Also we had our son so they brought share plate without us even asking for him. I loved that they considered that. Both dishes came piping hot, and were very comforting, like home-cooked food. The shishito peppers came with a lot of bonito flakes; they're charred very well and not spicy at all.
