    49ers Roll
    Haley N.

Came in around 6:40 pm on a Saturday night and surprisingly we beat the crowd and there was no wait! We ordered the following items : Gyoza, expected it to be more crispy and toasted but was still delish 8/10. The 49ers roll was smaller than most rolls but still yummy with a citrus taste 8.5/10. The Sashimi Moriawase was pricey yet had small cuts. This was not as worth it in my opinion 7/10, only the salmon stood out to me from this dish. Lastly, the 2 pc nigiri of a torched salmon toro was yummy and fatty 9/10! Lots of seating inside the resturant and outdoors as well. Would come back!

Eh. Wouldn't go again. It wasn't too bad but if I want sushi, I want it to be good. The fish didn't taste fresh but it also didn't taste bad. It was mid. The squid was pretty good but I think the sauce carried it. And the bento box was good but pretty average. Service was good. The ambiance was not the best since it's in a mall but it wasnt a deal breaker.

Lunch box with agedashi tofu, futomaki rolls and teriyaki salmon
    Maria L.

Came here for lunch on Thursday. The place was pretty busy around noon. Service was slower than we would like, even though they had 3 servers. We sat in the "patio", which wasn't bad as the mall itself wasn't that crowded. My husband and I each ordered a lunch box. I had agedashi tofu, futomaki rolls and teriyaki salmon. Quality was ok. For $19, it's a pretty good deal. I liked that they included edamame and hiyashi-wakame instead of the usual lettuce/carrot salad most other Japanese restaurants had in their lunch bentos. Would like to come back and try their omakase lunch or dinner.

After a recent Japan trip, I visited sanraku and I was delighted to find that I was reminded of the fresh, clean, refreshing taste of Japanese sushi. I got the salmon oyako and my friend got the bento box (only $19 at lunch). I'd highly recommend Sanraku considering the price point and freshness of the fish.

Lunch box with tonkatsu, futomaki, and gyoza

Came here for lunch today and got the lunch box special for $19. It was pretty crowded and it took awhile to get seated, not because there were no tables, but only two servers who also seated guests. The food tasted pretty good! I was close to giving it a full 5 stars, but here's where it didn't quite meet the mark: the tonkatsu was right on the edge of being burnt, and as a result it was borderline dry and was close to tasting burnt. For the futomaki, another piece would have been nice. They fully disclose it's 2pcs vs 3 if you got the CA roll, but for $19, it just seemed like 3 pcs would have been right. Other than that, all was good and we were pleased. I would have still been hungry at dinner, but at lunch it was fine. We sat "outside", which means in the mall, but in the restaurant, but totally fine. Servers were nice, even though they were clearly busy and understaffed. They refilled water too. So no complaints there. We'd come back again. Probably like to try the nigiri next time as we'd be open to doing the omakase at some point if the nigiri were good.

We have struggled to find good sushi places in this area, and this place ended that for us. I feel silly saying this but the nigiri was so good we forgot to take pictures of them... Everything was super fresh and delicious. The meal far exceeded our expectations for a place in a mall.

    Sake Toro

Our favorite sushi spot with the MOST delicious seared salmon belly. Such a hidden gem that's located inside a mall. Not the most amazing environment, but for quality and price, so worth it. Highly recommend the eel roll, dragon, and the 5 pc seared salmon toro.

    Dynamite Roll and Crunch Roll

I was always hesitant to try this place since it's inside of the mall, but once I did I was pleasantly surprised! We've ordered a variety of different foods from here and everything has always been delicious and not crazy expensive. The grilled octopus appetizer is delicious, any nigiri, and the dynamite and oakridge roll are my favorites. You can't go wrong with anything, and they have an extensive list of Sake and drinks as well. The service is great and there's plenty of seating either inside next to the sushi bar, or in another section where you have the view of the exit of the mall.

Hotate and white tuna nigiri and tuna and salmon sashimi: all good 4.5 stars
    Eve K.

Wasn't expecting much for a mall restaurant but quality Japanese food. Food: 4.5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 4 (rolls ~$18, nigiri ~$8) Opentableable: no but via Yelp Return worthiness: yes Highlights: - High quality sushi especially the nigiri seafood. For the nigiri like that they ask if want wasabi or not - Dragon roll excellent perfect tempura texture and tasty unagi. One of the better versions I've had. 5 stars - Hotate: large hefty portion of scallop that tasted fresh. Not on the regular menu but the daily listing on the table. 5 stars - White tuna: also large slice 4.5 stars - Miso fish appetizer: great flavor snd tender fish. 4.5 stars - Sake: tons of options and waiter helped us pick a bottle to share - Seating: inside or "outside " uncovered in the mall - Miso soup only $2 and lots of seaweed and tofu - Also have boxes for full dinner. I hear sesame chicken is good and kids meal comes with edamame and yams - Loyalty service where get $$ Midlights - Soft shell crab roll: was fine but not as standout as the others. 3.5 stars - Just a few special rolls to choose from and most are spicy/mayo saucey but have standard rolls too Lowlights: - Service: could not get a hold of a server to order more to save our lives. Waited at least 15 minutes to get anyone. Flagged one and he looked at me and walked the other way. Had a good meal here and would come back.

Met up with friends for my birthday celebration. Upon arriving, I liked the look and feel of wooden slats. It is earthy, simple, and calming. The food was good too. I had the Una Ten Donburi. Nicely arranged, and everything tasted great. Meat was tender, rice had lots of flavor with sauce and mix-ins, Tempura shrimp crisp texture complemented the soft fish/rice.

Stopped in for a quick dinner before the movies and had a great experience. Service was friendly, fast, and attentive. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. Paying the tab was quick and easy with tap, which made the whole visit smooth and convenient. Diet Coke Garlic Octopus Beef Teriyaki -MED RARE Dynamite Roll Miso soup Total $76.56

Literally my favorite sushi spot around me that I was happy that I came here for my birthday last year. I don't always eat here, but certainly a special treat. They have such an assortment of dishes to choose from. Unlike typical sushi spots where people come for rolls, I come here for their nigiri or their sashimi or tokujo set. To die for and at a decent price! This place is in the mall, but right at a side entrance so not too tough to find, although the parking in the front of the mall is def a battle. They have a garage nearby too which I typically go to. They use to have the front of the restaurant near that mall side entrance, but have moved it to the other side facing the inside of the mall which I personally think it's better. I was just here yesterday and tried 2 new appetizers which is the green beans and fried squid and both were amazing along with some of my regular item. Salmon is always a must for me and sometimes toro if I'm in the mood. I've always seen the same staff everytime I come who are always kind which tells me that this place doesn't just have good service, but must be a great place to work if staff stick around. You have to come! They also allow rsvp on Yelp which is always a plus in my book.

Sanraku omakase located inside Westfield Oakridge meal. $80 a person. Comes with : Tuna with quail egg Clam miso soup Salmon ikura chawanmushi 7 piece nigiri with fatty tuna maki Overall, very good meal. They have high chairs for babies and kids meals available. The waitresss asked if I wanted miso soup with tofu for the baby and I thought that was a kind ask. The food was tasty too! They have a good choice of other types of nigiri's, and specials available.

The service was good--the servers were very friendly and attentive, and our food came out pretty quickly after we ordered as well. We ordered two of the sashimi sampler alongside the hamachi lover roll. I liked the roll! The ratio of fish, rice, and avocado were great. The sashimi sampler, however, was a little disappointing. The presentation was a little awkward--long, thin cuts of fish folded up into little bowls and scattered with greens. 4 of the 6 pieces were seared, which I have never expected when ordering sashimi. The pricing was a little on the higher end of normal, and, while the food was decent, it doesn't outdo any of the other local sushi spots that I have visited in the area. The roll was ~$17 and the sashimi sampler nearly $18. Overall, I think Goku Sushi is a decent spot. If I'm nearby and craving sushi, it is definitely in the running, even if it isn't my first choice. I'd personally ask for details on the contents of any of their samplers/combos in the future, though.

Spicy Garlic beef pepper rice: My 12yo liked the dish though there was alot of beef left at the end. 2. Garlic beef pepper rice: Hubby says it was bland and had to add the garlic sauce on the table to his plate. 3. Curry beef rice with cheese: I really enjoyed my plate but it was quite bland. I needed to add black pepper and salt along with the spicy seasoning to add flavor to it making it more savory. The curry seasoning has a good taste to it and was not overpowering. 4. Chicken katsu with curry sauce: Hubby says it was good. Chicken was tender and crispy. Curry sauce was flavorful. It's quite good that my 10yo asked to switch his plate, garlic beef pepper rice, with hubby. My 10yo really liked the sauce as there was 2 pieces of katsu left and he didn't want to eat it because there were no more sauce. 5. Chicken karaage: lightly seasoned with a light crisp, not too crispy likethe chicken katsu. The hicken was moist and the dipping sauce is like a spicy mayo sauce. Ive never seen food come out so fast. Within 5 minutes our 4 sizzling plates came out and once we started eating the chicken karaage came out. We ended up eating it along with our meal instead of an appetizer. The two staff working in the front were very efficient as I observed them to clean up the tables quickly, ring up customers and assists with the food delivery orders for DoorDash/UberEats/etc promptly. Although service and food was good, I am not sure if I will want to come back as the ventilation in the restaurant is poor. It was smoky and by the time I left the restaurant 45 minutes later my hair and clothes wreaked of the smoke from the sizzling platters.

We'd return, but if we had to choose, we prefer the Cupertino location.  We visited on a Thursday right around noon, and there weren't many other patrons, probably 2-3 other groups. We were greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress and seated quickly. She efficiently seated and served multiple tables and was appropriately attentive, even offering some spicy drops to add to the soup. We each got our usual order of sumo ribeye and kimchi base soup. This location gave us two soup pots, which is a nice plus. At the Cupertino location, they only give one pot for us to share, and if a broth refill is needed, they refill with the standard water/seaweed broth. We prefer the flavor of the kimchi broth and dipping sauces (ponzu & sesame) at the Cupertino location. The San Jose location felt watered down - we would've been happy to share one pot of broth if it meant a more flavorful soup base and dipping sauces. This location, though, is larger and brighter than the Cupertino location. Their seating arrangement allows for larger groups - they have multiple tables that accommodate 4 (2 burners) and 6 (3 burners). They also have settings for 2 (1 burner). Parking is also more abundant (at least when we came) vs. the Cupertino location.

tl;dr Already thinking about the next time I can go! Great variety on the menu, with sashimi,…read morerolls, udon, tempura, and more! The 3 person sashimi & role plate was definitely the star and something I'd come back for. I took my parents here for my father's birthday, and he loved it! We ordered a variety of things, udon, tempura, sashimi, chicken karaage, and a chirashi bowl, and everything was delicious. All the fish was high quality, smooth, no random stringy bits, and not fishy smelling. The portion sizes were great - it never felt that they were skimping out. Sushi Koya is our go to in this area now! We can't wait to go back.

Luckily for us, it was absolutely worth it! We called in for takeout about 15-20 minutes out from the restaurant and everything was ready by the time we arrived. Initial impressions: I was glad that we got takeout lol. There were essentially little to no parking spots and the restaurant was PACKED. Line out the door and an even larger queue inside! It did feel a bit cramped but fortunately I was just in and out. Service was great too! We got the Lion King and a sashimi platter. The lion king was SOOO good. I always get worried ordering this at new sushi spots because I feel like it can be a hit or miss (especially when they load waaay too much spicy mayo on it lol) - this roll had the perfect amount where it wasn't too overpowering. The ingredients tasted fresh too! As for the sashimi platter - every piece was thick and fresh. I'd definitely come back for takeout! Make sure you call ahead of time.
