    Tonkatsu curry rice
    Maddie W.

So good! Demiya is one of my go-tos for curry. Love their tonkatsu curry. The meat is super crispy, juicy, and pairs so well. Only downside is they don't include the red pickles and they don't have corn potage. Prices are a little steep but the quality is there. Come early since there's limited seating. Lots of people also do takeout, so the place was busy right after they opened at 11:30! Be sure to bus your own table. Water is also self serve with various temperatures which is thoughtful and smart!

I'm surprised I haven't written a review for this place yet. I used to have a phase where I went all the time because I was craving it so badly! I truly love the curry here and the spice levels it offers. I literally get level 3 hehe. I like that this curry is not as thick and doesn't have tomato paste as well. I tried a few other curry places and the tomato taste is so strong :/ The tonkatsu is my go to here. I also enjoy the chicken karaage as well which comes with spicy mayo :) They are super generous with the rice and the curry which is super filling. I went on Saturday night since my cousin was craving it. Her food was fine and most of mine was but I noticed the end pieces (3 pieces) of my tonkatsu were a bit pink still? I brought it up with the cashier and she informed me they cook it to a certain temperature so it should be fine to eat. I was a bit hesitant and she offered to make me a new one which was nice. I would give it a 3.5

    Hamburg curry

I've always seen this Japanese curry restaurant since Bar Bay Grill was still open in the plaza. I finally got around to trying the curry dishes here just last week. There was plenty of parking upon arriving. We had come around lunch time and there wasn't a lot of people inside, so we got to grab a table quickly. You order at the register with the cashier, grab a table then they call you when the food is ready. My boyfriend ordered the hamburg curry (he was craving since we went to Japan last year) and I ordered the chicken katsu curry for myself. We both got level 2 spicy for our curry. I want to say the food came out about 10-15 minutes later. Our dishes looked simple, but tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the curry and couldn't stop dipping the chicken in there. The level 2 was too spicy for my boyfriend, so I felt like he couldn't enjoy his meal all the way, but I love eating spicy so the level 2 was fine for me. The portion was too big for me, so I ended up giving my boyfriend half of the chicken katsu. We definitely both had food coma right after. I would come back here again when craving curry and I would probably try their other dishes they offer. This place was so good that my boyfriend went back a couple days later with his friend. There's no customer service here since it's more of an express self-serve restaurant. There's water and water cups available though.

Came here with a friend from years past and my karaage chicken curry was pretty good. The chicken was freshly fried and was still moist and the curry was smooth and creamy even though it was on the runny side. I enjoyed the meal and highly recommend the place. Service was a bit slow as they just opened the doors and there was a line out the door. You self order and the food is delivered to you. The place is clean and so was the bathroom. They have like I think eight tables for four people at each table and a couple of two seaters. If you reside near here come on over and give them a try.

I've been here a couple times with some friends, and the curry is always delicious. I've ordered the Mapo Nasu Curry Udon and the Buta-Shabu Curry Rice, and they've left me feeling satisfied.

Came at the open on a. Friday at 5:30pm Got the chicken katsu and pork katsu. (+) Pork katsu was fine. (=) Chicken katsu curry was a bit overly salty (--) They "ran out" of chicken karage. Wth, right at the open?? The dublin location is better in food quality and service etc.

Experience (4/5 stars): *Food: chicken katsu curry came w/ deep-fried chicken cutlet w/ curry and steamed rice. I added some pickled radish on the side! Chicken crispy and curry was flavorful. *Price: ~$16 Overall, I'd come back here to try the tonkatsu curry!

Demiya is located in a small strip mall with a small and limited parking lot. The restaurant is small and cozy. Not really setup to accommodate any large group, mostly a small number of 1-5 people. Simple decor but kept clean and proper. Order with the cashier, pay, then wait and they will call your name to pickup your food when ready. Self-bussing your own dishes. One unisex restroom only. The menu has expanded since the last time I was there and I was intrigued by this dish. So, I ordered it. *Niku Maki Cheese Curry Rice: Deep-fried 3-pork cheese rolls with house-made brown sauce served with curry and steamed rice (4/5). The pork cheese roll was pork slices wrapped around a mellow white cheese. I really enjoyed my dish. The brown sauce was sweet. The curry sauce (spice level 2) was spicy and had a good enough kick for me. *Chicken Katsu Curry Rice: Deep-fried chicken cutlet served with curry and steamed rice (3.5/5). The two golden brown cutlets were white meat. My wife enjoyed her dish though at spice level 1, it was really spicy for her. Our other friends ordered the... *Beef Croquette Curry Rice (4/5). I got to try a little bit of the beef croquette. It was crunchy on the outside yet creamy, and delicious on the inside. *Tonkatsu Curry Rice: Deep-fried pork cutlet served with curry and steamed rice (4/5). Traditional, and comforting. We were disappointed that they did not include Fukujinzuke (Japanese red pickles) with the curry rice plates. You have to pay extra for it. Comforting food made more enjoyable with great friends! Support your local business.

Definitely coming back!!! A huge variety to choose from, ordering is pretty straight forward, a lot of parking, seat yourself and order at the front. Take-out is an option! Got the Katsu chicken curry rice, +2 spice level and it was really good! Chicken was crisp and curry matches so well with everything!

They added more to their menu. So much flavor and plenty of food for sharing. The chicken katsu curry rice was a lot and is great for sharing if you only eat a little bit. Beef croquette was different but also very good. Need to try the rest of the menu next time. You order at the cashier and pay as soon as the order is taken. The restaurant is a bit small but table turn around is quick.

Yummy curry tonkatsu! It's a pretty small restaurant! At first I thought the food was on the cheaper side but soon realized it's because everything is an additional charge. Like a side small salad is more money. But overall good

The curry was very flavorful and you can taste the spice it works perfectly with the Tonkatsu. Very delicious curry. Portion size may seem small on picture but when eating all of it together you do feel full. Now the the biggest issue I had was the rice was extremely hard. Meaning it wasn't cooked all the way before serving the food or added enough water or it just wasn't checked beforehand. It felt disappointing. The amount sides, there really wasn't much to look at and the cost also is a bit pricey. The place is mainly selling Curry from what it looks like. Though everything is more self serve at this place it does feel pretty nice.

    Cindy H.

Tasty curry! Smaller portions than other locations. The Katsu Chicken was ok Curry: 10/10 Chicken Katsu: 6/10 The curry here is pretty tasty and I really enjoyed it but was a bit disappointment with the Katsu Chicken- it didn't have that juicy taste from the chicken that I was looking for and tasted very deep fried like hash brown. (I got the curry rice chicken Katsu). The portion was also a bit smaller than I expected, my sister said other locations of this place give more. Parking wise they have a lot of public spaces for you to park and the staff were friendly.

Is there a la carte curry to order?

Are they open for INDOOR DINING YET? I texted them and asekd them on IG too. no replies

    Sure are!

Has the online order been disabled? I tried every day this past week during the online ordering time 2:30-4pm and the new clover ordering site always tells me "this location is not accepting orders". When I try after 5:30pm and it is still not avail!

They're closed on Mondays so if you try to order for today, it will not happen. I tried just now on their website and it looks like I can order for tomorrow 12pm at the time I write this

    Are there indoor dining yet?

Yes, they do have indoor dining. You have to rearrange table if you have a big group of people though.

The website saids pre order only through (2-4pm) and after trying to check out it saids online pre order is (11:30am-12:30pm), online ordering is currently closed. So which is it? I tried at both times and still doesn't work. Their phone line is off

I wrote about the confusing ordering times in my review as well! I ordered online at 1:42 PM for pick up at 5:30 PM and got my order successfully. Hope that helps 🤦🏻‍♀️

What is their email address?? saratoga location?

    Saratoga location email address: demiya.front@icloud.com

How come nobody answers the phone?

If you are trying to order via phone, they only take online orders

Is this place even open? The last time we came from Sacramento, the business was closed, even though it clearly stated that they are open on yelp.…

Definitely always check their website or ig to see if they have any important updates. They generally keep both of those options updated as necessary.

Are there peanuts in the curry?

    What are the hours?

Information on Yelp is not provided by Demiya; therefore it is not necessary correct. For a more accurate information please go to demiya.com or Instagram: @demiya_inc for the latest update about hours. Thank you.

What is in the salad dressing?

It is definitely NOT thousand island dressing. Whatever it is, it's delicious and I'd love a bottle of it.

Parked easily on the side street, walked in around 3:30 in the afternoon, no hassle. The place has an authentic Japanese cafe feel, the kind where the menu has things you don't typically find at your average sushi spot. I had my eye on the sandos, specifically the Chicken Katsu Sando, but landed on the Spicy Tuna Don instead. Good call. Spicy yellowfin tuna tartare over well-seasoned sushi rice, topped with sesame, furikake, green onions, with a little radish and cucumber on the side. The tuna was very fresh, the rice was on point. Service was quick and polite - they even have an outside window for takeout. One nice detail: a neat dollop of wasabi is pasted along the inside wall of the bowl, which is a clean way of letting you control exactly how much heat you want to mix in. Tasteful presentation, but don't let that fool you. It has a legitimate kick, so calibrate accordingly. Paired it with their Honjozo dry sake cup, which was a nice complement to the meal and exactly the right call for a mid-afternoon bite. The sandos looked great on other tables and I fully intend to go back for the Chicken Katsu Sando - and then go try the wine bar next door to it. which was pretty tempting.
