Came here for the first time last Friday. It's right next to Clover. Very convenient, as we're also getting some stuff there. I had bookmarked this place for a while and wanted to check it out, anyway. Parking in the lot outside wasn't too bad around 5pm. They had a few other customers but not too busy. I was impressed by the huge bento and onigiri selections they had. They had a hot appetizer case at the back and some drinks as well. It took us a while to decide what to get. Everything looked really good. Besides food items, they also had a lot of interesting and cute Japanese figurines, tableware, toys, etc. Checkout was efficient and the staff were friendly. The food, however, looked much better than they tasted. We got 5pcs of takoyaki to share, and all 3 of us didn't like it. They're small, soggy and seemed to have been in the heater for a long time; just nothing like the usual takoyaki we had at restaurants. My unagi don was also ... meh. The amount of unagi was ok, but the quality wasn't very good. It was chewy and not flavorful. There was quite a bit of rice, and could use more sauce or some furikake. My husband and daughter said their bento, onigiri and drinks were ok. I'll probably stick with the bentos from Mitsuwa next time, though.

This place is 5 for its price point! They gave us quite a bit of salmon for $15. They offer a lot of fun japanese food options from onigiri, donburi, okonomiyaki, meal sets, chirashi, kimbap, and a lot more. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone looking for something filling at a good price. Parking: big lot but there can be a lot of people. It should not be a problem with a little patience :) Bonus: In the back of the store, they sell smiskis, miffy's, t-shirts, sunny angels! These are less of a steal but they are always in stock. They even had some hippers!

Came here on a Saturday and it was packed. It's a really small place, super cramped inside, but it's wonderful! Service was solid. They got lots of food options to choose from. I'd say reasonable priced and affordable!! Getting your bang for your buck. Also, they have lots of SUPER cute knickknacks like blind boxes, key chains, etc etc. Those prices are crazy though so beware... ended up walking out with food only, but I had to fight some demons to get there. The amount of self control you have to have to not indulge in spending lots of your money in there. Minus a star for the layout and how cramped it is. Besides that, a fun place!

So fun. Full of things I love and want to eat. Culturally sound Japanese eatery and shop. It's more than just bentos and other Japanese eats...it's food excitement. I was very full and happy when it was all over. The service was excellent, sizing up what you bought and giving you everything you need to get by, nothing more but plenty. That's good management. Last words... wife said "if you lived in town, you'd be poor ".

Fugetsu in Saratoga is a very interesting place where they sell Japanese toys, snacks, merchandise PLUS bento boxes from different Japanese restaurants they own. This small shop is very cramped like everyone else commented but the cashiers are very nice, sometimes you will find some good deals. For example we got this huge plate of chirashi sushi from Rokko for $45, it has enough food to serve 6 people.

Fugetsu San Jose is located at a plaza shared with other businesses. There is a big parking lot, so free parking was not an issue. We went there for the end-of-the-day 25% off discounted prepackaged food items. There was a large variety to choose from. Unfortunately, the food didn't taste very good, and the texture was not acceptable. They sell a lot of toys and other Japanese imported items as well.

This has gotta be one of my favorite places to get onigiri! They also have great bento box options as well! The store its self is like a small convenience store of fresh hot Japanese foods. It also has some collectible shopping items. The service is typically quick and easy as you do pick your own items.

I came about 1 hour before closing so things were limited. I got a California roll and it was fresh and delicious. Next time I plan to come earlier so I can try their other food. The store also has various stuff to buy like blind boxes, candy, and other Asian merch. Staff was friendly and place was organized even if there was a lot of stuff.

It's a small store that sells a bunch of bentos and rice ball. The bentos are really good and great for a grab and go. Service really friendly and the store sells lots of blind boxes too. There isn't room for seating inside but there is a patio outside next to the ramen place to sit and eat your food. Place is clean and organized so easy to find what you are looking for and they have so many options.

What an interesting little spot, with its blend of grab-and-go Japanese comfort meals and collectibles for sale. I visited for the first time on a weekend afternoon and while the cramped space was definitely packed, the line was surprisingly short and there was no wait when it came time to pay. While okonomiyaki is in the name, there's a number of other plates here that you won't find at the Japanese restaurants nearby (including the okonomiyaki, which isn't always an easy find on a menu in the Bay Area) alongside some well-known favorites. From omu soba to beef teriyaki don, from seafood shio yakisoba to hayashi rice, poke don, multiple variations of okonomiyaki, and so much more, there's something for everyone here. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer variety, but take your time because you never know what might be waiting that day for you to try (the menu has its regular items but others seem to get discontinued and replaced from time to time). If you're not hungry for a full meal, there are snacks like onigiri, a kushi katsu station with a lot of different fried options (takoyaki, croquettes, etc.), or prepackaged snacks. Make your way down the aisle from the food to the collectibles on your way to the registers and see if there's anything you want to grab before you leave. I went with the hayashi rice plate and can't wait to go back for it again. It came with a decent amount of rice topped with scrambled egg and a dash of ketchup, two croquettes, a handful of vegetables, and a well of the beef in gravy with carrots and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious and satisfying. This place is awesome and I wish there were either more Fugetsus around the Bay Area or more places like it. Good food at good prices.

AMAZING TO-GO JAPANESE BENTOS!! This place is my favorite when it comes to quick and easy meals. I've been coming here for a long time and everything always tastes amazing! They have sashimi, onigiris, takoyaki, gimbap, and desserts as well. The food prices range from $5-20 and they even have a selection of popular toys and blind boxes available as well. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, and always ensures we have a smooth checkout. This place is a decently small shop with narrow aisles and does get busy sometimes. Parking can become a hassle on the weekends since it's in a busy plaza!!

i love fugetsu for the convenience and variety! i love the onigiris since there's so many options to choose from and they're so good. their fried hot foods in the back is a nice option for fresh hot foods! there's a part of the store where you can also get different trinkets, cookware, etc. it's nice if you want some japanese related merchandise or japanese character items. i also appreciate that they offer a small discount near the end of the day to get rid of their hot foods. you can save a bit of money with that discount. wish they were closer to me but whenever i'm in the area, it's a must visit !

So many choices here but my favorites are the rice bowls they have! I enjoy most of them if not all. I recommended trying it!

That alone should tell you something All these years later, it is still just as amazing as it was back then. Same great atmosphere, same entertaining chefs, and most importantly... the same consistently incredible food. My go-to (and it will never change) is the Genji combination--filet mignon and shrimp with bean sprouts. The filet is always cooked perfectly, the shrimp is delicious, and everything on that grill just has that flavor you can't recreate at home (trust me... I've tried ). And let's talk about the extras... The salad dressing? I would pay good money for that recipe. I've tried to recreate it more times than I can count and it's just not happening. The soup is always comforting and perfect. And ending the meal with green tea ice cream? It's the cherry on top of a perfect experience. The chefs are part of the fun--they make it an experience, not just a meal. There's something so special about sitting around that grill, watching the show, and knowing exactly what you're about to get... because it's always spot on. After all these years, this is still one of my favorite restaurants ever. Not many places can say they've stayed this good for this long. If you haven't been... you're missing out.

The fried rice was especially delicious..everything was fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed Kyoto Palace. It's a fantastic spot for a fun date night or any evening when you want great food with a little show. We went on a Friday night and it was busy, so I highly recommend making reservations (my boyfriend was smart enough to do so ahead of time). Bonus: It's located in a cute little plaza, perfect for a relaxing stroll before or after dinner. I'm so glad he introduced me to this place..great ambiance and even better company. I'll admit, the raw meat pictures with the rice didn't look that appealing to me at first, so I kept putting it off. One day, we were nearby for her haircut and decided to walk in just to grab a to-go menu and check out the place. To my surprise, it smelled amazing inside, and seeing all the sizzling platters coming out completely changed my mind. The food looked SO good that I immediately said we had to come back and try it. We went during dinner time, and parking in the complex was a bit challenging, but we were able to find a spot fairly quickly. The staff greeted us right away, had us pick a table, and asked if it was our first time. When we said yes, they kindly walked us through how everything works. We ordered the Curry Beef Rice with cheese and the Garlic Beef Pepper Rice (their most popular dish). After placing our order through the QR code, the food came out almost immediately on hot, sizzling platters. The waitress explained how to cook the meat first before mixing everything together. I followed the instructions--cooked the meat until there was no pink, moved the butter to the bottom so it could melt, then mixed everything together and added the sauces. It turned out delicious! I especially loved the crispy, crunchy bits at the bottom of the pan. My daughter cooked her meat a bit longer before mixing, so hers ended up slightly tougher--but still flavorful. After eating, we paid at the front. Just a tip: remember your table number (or check your phone order), because they'll ask for it. Overall, it was such a fun and tasty experience, and we'll definitely be back. Also, random but worth mentioning--the water here is actually really good! I usually don't drink restaurant water, but my daughter said it tasted great, and I overheard another table say the same thing. I tried it, and it was cold, refreshing, and had no weird aftertaste. Huge kudos for that, especially on such a hot day!

LENT 2026: GOOD FRIDAY LUNCH…read more The first time I ate at Toro Sushi Stone Grill & Bar was the last Saturday of February for my mom's birthday. We had a private room for the party. Out of food that was served I really enjoyed eating the sashimi, which was presented on a platter. I also liked grilled salmon. During Lent I wanted to come back to Toro for lunch. I thought about getting sashimi or grilled salmon when I came back. A couple days before coming to Toro for Good Friday lunch I looked at the menu online. Why pay for the dishes I ate before? One of the dishes that intrigued me was the baked unagi fried rice. However the baked salmon fried rice sounded enticing. Also one of the appetizers sounded interesting was the sashimi pizza. My plan was to order an appetizer and an entree for Good Friday lunch. On Friday when I got a table I looked at the menu. The lunch special listed unagi don. Then I started thinking to myself. Why do I have to eat only fish on Fridays during Lent? Vegetables are permitted during Lent Fridays. I looked at the salad menu and one item intrigued me was the avocado salad. Instead of getting a sashimi pizza for an appetizer I choose avocado salad. Knowing a salad would not be filling I ordered the crispy salmon skin roll. For entree I ordered the unagi don. I'll start with the crispy salmon. A lot of people don't like to eat crispy skin of a fish. I love it. The crispy salmon skin roll is a filling roll due to the sauce, which adds flavor to the rice. Instead of a roll I would like to see crispy skin salmon as an appetizer as it would be similar to a chicharron. Regarding the avocado salad I liked how avocado wasn't skimpy in portion. There's one thing I don't like in salad and that is water. I understand cleaning the lettuce to get rid of the dirt, but the lettuce better be dry instead of water dripping at the bottom on the bowl. I came here for the unagi don. I felt I made a right decision of ordering the unagi don instead of the baked unagi fried rice. With the steamed rice I could taste the eel whereas the fried rice would've overpowered the eel. The unagi don was a filling dish and I believe if I ordered a baked unagi fried rice I would have felt bloated. On this last Friday during Lent I enjoyed my lunch at Toro Sushi Stone Grill and Bar. I liked the sashimi that was served for my mom's birthday party than what I ordered during Good Friday. I can see myself coming here again. Maybe next time I try the stone grill items.
