    Curry Katsu
    Craig V.

Came here for the soft opening, and was very surprised at how good it was! The Yumee Katsu is a pork Katsu (and does come with rice ). The batter was very crispy and the meat was tender! Not dry at all. The curry Katsu was the Yumee Katsu with curry, and was also plentiful and well cooked. What stood out to us was that we got a mini udon for our toddler, but it came with spicy sauce. The waitress noticed it was for our baby, and proactively took it back and removed the spice! Such service! I liked the decorations as well with a wooden interior. We both agreed that we would definitely come back again!!

Assorted katsu + chicken katsu curry

Waited around 30 mins before getting seated. Quite a lot of people joining the waitlist during the dinner hour rush. We got the assorted katsu(pork, shrimp and cheese) and also the chicken katsu curry. I find the chicken katsu to be the least dry and juicer than most. Cheese katsu has a nice cheese pull. I like how there are the pickled radish and kimchi on the sides, along with salad. Presentation is a plus too. -**: fried shrimp katsu is not crispy. Outer layer is too thin, so texture is almost mushy(?). Also the price for the set is normal, but the add-on side dishes are out of place. Ex: The mini udon is $5.99 and probably the size of a small fist size. It's equivalent of 2 mouthful udons. Don't think I'll get it again.

3.5/5 rounded down Chicken Spicy Chewy Noodles - 4/5 The Spicy is probably an overstatement but I also take spice really well so won't dock them for that. This does come out as a cold dish which knocks down 0.5 points. The Chicken Katsu also came out barely room temperature which also sucked for another -0.5. With that said, the noodles themselves were the highlight of the dish, with the chicken bringing it down. And again, will point out that I really do think this would be better off as a "hot" dish. Above, I put "hot" in quotes, because even the curry katsu dishes came out pretty room temperature which is a huge disappointment. When you're paying $21-26 pre-tax/tip per person I'm expecting made to order, not room temperature dishes. Furthermore, if they are coming out room temperature, is there really an point in a waiting time for dishes. I do want to come back to try out their other options such as the ramen and cheese katsu, but overall, this is a weak contender in the curry-space when you look at the pricing, serving size, and quality as a whole. Slightly would also recommend checking in with their hours when they grand open since I came at 2:57 when they were "suppose to be open" but they said they would be taking a lunch that day at 3 pm for an hour, which really sucked as none of their hours were stating that.

Assorted Katsu ($25.99) & extra curry ($5.99) Takeout
    Evonne C.

[Food] Takeout - Assorted Katsu ($25.99): Comes with rice, salad w/ dressing, sauce (katsu sauce & tartar), and soup. Also comes with pickled daikon and kimchi! I enjoyed the pork katsu and the shrimp, but I think the cheese one is a bit too heavy for me. You also have to eat the cheese one fast before it gets cold and hardens. - Extra Curry ($5.99): Yum! I'm glad I got extra to dip my katsu in or even with more rice. - Curry Katsu ($23.99): I feel like the takeout portion may be a tad smaller than if you were to dine-in. The tonkatsu is more on the lean side, but the curry has a nice flavor. Also comes with soup, salad, and some picked radish & kimchi. [Service] - Fast, friendly, helpful - Order via kiosk tablet [Ambiance] - Decent amount of seating indoors - Parking can get packed during peak dinner hours as it is in the plaza where 99 Ranch, Gen, Kura, Paris Baguette, Venus Cafe, etc are at. [Overall] - Would come back again to try other dishes!

    Korean katsu, rose tteok

There aren't many katsu places here in the bay so I was super excited to try this! We had the rose tteokbokki which had a lot of fish cake and chewy rice cake to share. My sister got the Yumee katsu which was good but we expected more sauce and she said usually they give curry sauce as well. I got the Korean katsu and it came with a sweet tomato sauce which was good. And my dad go the curry katsu. Something I noticed was the meat was a bit dry and they don't give much sauce (Korean sauce, katsu sauce, curry sauce) so towards the end it was super dry. Service was good you just order on a tablet. It's a quick bite vibe. If they gave more sauce and made the katsu crispier or juicier I would come back.

New and hot katsu place in town! This place is YUMEEEE! My friends and I got here around 7:30pm on a Saturday and it was really busy. We had to wait about 30 minutes at most after waitlisting in person. Since the place isn't too big and there are a lot of tables, it's pretty cramped. Also the parking lot in this area sucks too since its in a plaza with popular food/drink options.   They have a lot to choose from on their menu ranging from their different katsus, curry katsus, special menu katsus, and their normal noodle dishes.   I got their katsu curry udon and it was so good! The curry is flavorful but I asked if I could make it spicy and they gave me some sriracha with chili powder. The katsu was fried nicely and was crunchy but of course sitting in the curry made the crunchiness go away. They also give side dishes such as kimchi, pickled radish, soup and a salad which made the entire email even tastier! The only thing I thought could be better was how cooked the udon noodles were. They were too soft for my liking and felt a bit overcooked which is why im giving it stars.   The service is standard for soft opening but I understand that it was super busy. I will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes on their special menu. THey have a rose topokki katsu and that sounds so good!

So glad to see another Katsu curry spot open up in North side SJ. The food was so perfect for the weather as it was raining and cold. Since it was still their soft opening, there weren't many people in the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant was very aesthetic as it replicates a lot of Japanese designs to go with the food. I like that the waitress also let us choose where to sit. Service was also fast and east as everything you order is through a tablet. I ordered the Shrimp Katsu Curry, Pork Katsu, and Rose Tteboki. All were delicious and you can tell that they made with fresh ingredients! They also had a bunch of banchans on the side that were also really tasty! I will be coming back!

Always excited to try out new restaurants in our neighborhood. We ordered 2 dishes, which was enough to feed 3 people. Shrimp Curry Katsu - was our favorite because the curry sauce was the BOM. There was plenty of rice to soak up the yummy sauce. Assorted Katsu - included 2 cheese katsu, 2 shrimp tempura, and a bunch of chicken katsu over noodles. The cheese katsu was a new thing for me, love the complementary textures. It was a good meal. I would come back again.

    Assorted katsu with watermelon soda

This parking lot can get crowded and it can be hard to find parking. There's a decent amount of seating inside and you order through the kiosk. This place can get busy as well. The workers are friendly and the service was good. The canned watermelon soda was really sweet and okay. All the food items we ordered was enjoyable and high quality from the rose Tteok-bokki to the assorted katsu itself. The side dishes that came with the meal were good too. The food didn't really take too long to come out either. Definitely would come here again. This might be my favorite katsu spot in the area.

Craving Korean katsu and found this place! Their korean style giant katsu reminds me of the old days when I used to eat them in Korea :) It was a bit pricey in my own opinion but it does hit the spot! Loved spicy chewy noodle too! But donkatsu in donkatsu spicy chewy noodle did not have a katsu sauce at all. you have to order katsu sauce on the side for $2.99 if you want. They said it is because you can eat katsu with the spicy chewy noodle sauce. Service was fast and great! Servers were nice.

    Spicy Pork Katsu

Soft opening for Yumee Katsu, came for dinner family style to try multiple dishes! The interior design is very aesthetic, you can tell everything is clean and brand new. They offer booth and table seating and ordering is done through a tablet installed into the table. Service was pretty good considering only 1 server working. Onto the food review! (PS loved the kimchi and the pickled radish) Big Katsu 10/10 Spicy Pork Katsu 10/10 Curry Udon Katsu 6.9/10 The big Katsu was enormous!! If you have a big appetite and can eat I would order this 110%. Very filling and a generous amount of portioning. The sauce provided for it was very delicious. This Katsu is flakier and crispier than the other two dishes. The spicy pork Katsu was also very scrumptious! The spicy pork had incredible flavor and if you're looking for the best of both worlds this is it!! I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and was not expecting the spicy pork to be as good as it was; it lives up to the yummy name. The curry udon Katsu is a dish that fell flat. Did not really enjoy it and the portion sizing was very small compared to the other two dishes, and had barely any udon noodles. Definitely would not recommend it and would not order it again. The flavor was mild as well. Overall the experience was 4/5! Great experience, ambiance was good and 66% of the dishes ordered were magnificent. JD Big Back Tip: Avoid the noodle dishes because they don't give you the extra sides that come with the rice dishes!

So happy for another katsu place in South Bay! Our party of three tried the Rosé Tteokbokki katsu, rice curry katsu, and assorted katsu. While the food was good, I think the assorted katsu is the best value for what you're getting: 2 pieces of shrimp, 2 cheese katsu, and rest regular katsu pieces. I'm more appreciative of the wide selection of choices on their menu, from regular Tteokbokki to Rosé Tteokbokki, udon noodles, an entire separate selection for curry options, etc. I think this is a good spot for people who have a variety in tastes and want a lot of different options/preferences to choose from. The staff were also very nice and friendly! We order from the kiosk at the tables. It is located in a plaza so lots of parking spots available. One restroom in the restaurant and is pretty clean.

    Emily M.

Came across Yumee Katsu as I was shopping in the plaza. The recent open not too long ago and have good menu selection for Katsu and tteokbokki I enjoyed the chewy noodles that came with the tteokbokki. The tteokbokki also had the perfect amount of spice for me as someone who can't handle spicy food. At the end of the meal we were greater by the owner who was supper sweet and asked how we enjoyed the meal

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. We were just looking for some quick bites, so we ordered a seafood pancake and meat jun to share. Both of these were very generous portions. The seafood pancake had a nice light crisp, and was full of seafood and green onion, while the meat jun game on a bed of fresh cabbage and was full of tender, sweet and flavorful bulgolgi. We really enjoyed both with the banchan! Danbi has some great offerings, and I'll definitely try to come again to try some of the entrees and other things when I'm in the area and looking for a full meal!

This restaurant was filling up but it really only seemed like 3 or so employees, one waiting tables, one by the counter, and another in the kitchen. Looks like a family run business that could probably use some more hands! We ordered Yookdaejang: Good! I have no complaints about this one. Galbitang: Didn't try any but my wife said it was kind of bland. We went to Kunjip the week before and didn't get to order this, so we were really craving it. It's very good at Kunjip. I was debating just doing a seafood pancake instead. I saw a bunch of other tables have it and it looked thick and crispy. For both soups, it was too much for us so we took them both home and ate it for dinner the following day. Added more noodles to it too, so value wise it kinda worked out. The banchan was good. They ran out of fish cake but I loved the kimchi! Pretty solid for good korean food with no wait - the only wait really was the lack of employees, but sitting and ordering was quick enough.
