I was actually thinking of making the trip to their San Mateo store, luckily this one opened up that's way closer! Fantastic tsuekemen at fair pricing and speedy service that's on point. Very relaxed atmosphere with a pretty clean interior. Notably different from a lot of other places, they serve buckwheat noodles for their tsukemen. Quite fragrant and solid chew. Heavenly pork, supremely soft and melts in your mouth. Broth served piping hot as it should. Very rich yet well balanced, leaning heavily on dashi/seafood aroma for their broth. I'm quite the fan! Aburasoba is also really good, punchy flavor with lot of depth. My brother is hard to please and he's also quite excited about this place (there aren't many that do aburasoba well either). Chicken karaage is lightly battered, with kewpie mayo. Not too heavy and a good complement to the noodles. Absolutely returning customer here!

Very solid Tsukemen. I went here recently with my two homies for the first time. All of us went to Japan a year ago and there was this one place with Tsukemen Ramen at Tokyo Station. It was the best ramen I've ever had in my life. Ever since that day Ive wanted to try other places that do that same style thats why all of us ended up at Taishoken. We ordered a Karaage appetizer to start which was pretty yummy. Then we all ordered our own bowls of Tsukemen. This was pretty good. I loved the flavor of the broth and all the fixings were prepped perfectly. However even after every tasty bite there was still a small part of me that yearned for that first experience I had in Japan. Despite that I still scratched the itch and I would 100% come back if I had peeps who wanted to get some good ramen in the area.

Fantastic ambiance. Our family of 9 went to try this place on a Saturday around 530pm. Clean modern seating and kid friendly! They have kid friendly plates, utensils as well menu items. The squid appetizer is very tasty and I haven't seen the type of seasoning anywhere else. I enjoyed my ramen too. Typically I like the thicker noodle but my ramen came with the thin one and there's no substitutions. Food came quickly and staff are very friendly.

The prices are a little bit high here, typically low $20. The food is good here but I usually hope for a little bit more meat. I'm assuming the price is because of the noodle, which has very nice texture and is done well. I usually get the most popular item, the Tokusei Tsukemen (which is good) but I tried their Duck Tsukemen. It came with 4 pieces of duck that were soft but kind of hard to tear apart. The noodles are good and the accompanied broth is quite light. My only issue is that the lime in the soup was overpowering and I didn't taste much of the chicken in the soup. Everything was still great in all and the servers are very nice.

Again Taishoken never disappoints! My partner decided to get the Kamo Shoyu Tsukemen which is a new item. It was a nice light refreshing broth with a hint of citrus, if you're looking for a lighter meal I'd totally recommend it. If you're looking for bouncy, rich, and savory noodles you can never go wrong with the Tokusei Tsukemen! Quality is always consistent and delicious.

Decided to stop by for some ramen and I am not the biggest fan of ramen, but it was pretty tasty! For the price, I would say it comes with a generous amount. It was fairly busy, but all the staff was helpful when we needed something.

Honestly ramen was okay. Nothing really outstanding about it. Service was nice and we came during opening hours on a Thursday and still waited around 45 mins. My friend got the chicken ramen but it didn't have much flavor. Really nice and clean restaurant though and worth trying at least once. Maybe next time I would get their dip ramen since thats what they are known for.

My fave restaurant to revisit for a yummy meal :) I like that the proportions are very generous and consistently delicious! I've tried both their tsukemen dipping ramen spicy and non-spicy. Next time, I'm curious on trying more appetizers. I saw the tables around me order an assortment of them, and they all look so visually aesthetic and appetizing! Service is quick and attentive. Plenty of parking in a plaza parking lot, although it tends to get busy since it is a popular shopping plaza!I

Taishoken is famous for its tsukemen, and it lives up to the hype. The cold, chewy noodles are served separately so you can dip them into a rich broth that's thick, savory, and satisfying. It's fun to eat, filling, and a nice change of pace if you want something with a little more bite and texture than regular ramen. Their tonkotsu ramen is also a great option. The broth is creamy and comforting, the pork is tender, and the boiled egg is well prepared timing-wise; perhaps a little cold. It's tasty and perfect if you want a warm, cozy bowl without having to think too hard about it. Service is pretty decent and inside the restaurant is sophisticatedly nice. From the signage I learned the recipe originated in 1951. Generally a good parking situation because there's a huge lot, but this 'Ranch 99' area can get quite packed at times.

this spot is mainly known for their tsukemen, but we didn't order that. i ordered their niku spicy ramen and my friend ordered the Tokyo classic aburasoba. the ramen was decent, however it's not my favorite. i like it when the noodles are more on the thicker side and i wish the broth had a bit more flavor.

When I heard milpitas had a Taishoken, I was happy to head over as it is closer to me than San Mateo. The Milpitas location is larger while the San Mateo location feels more intimate. Think I prefer the San Mateo one more having experienced both. I got the same dish Spicy Tsukemen and it was just as delicious as I remembered it however was sad that my soup base came surprisingly lukewarm closer to room temp. My sister got the same order too and we were slightly debating if we wanted to ask them to reheat it a bit more. From our experience at San Mateo, the soup should have came with some steam oozing out so maybe we went on an off day for Milpitas. We got the takoyaki for an appetizer and liked the batter they had. The yuzu beer was good too!

We really like this ramen house. Their Tokusei Tsukemen is especially tasty. The dry noodles are served with a flavorful sauce, and you dip the noodles into the sauce with every bite. This keeps the noodles fresh and not soggy like they would be if sitting in broth. That said, their regular ramen is also very good. I had the Tori Chintan, and it hit the spot perfectly. The restaurant is located in the Ranch 99 Market plaza, very close to Mayflower Restaurant. Service is friendly and fast, making for a satisfying meal every time.

So glad they opened one near home! We basically ordered one of everything, since some of us have never been here, so we wanted to try it all. My favorites are the calamari, potato salad, and mazesoba!

I got the Tonkatsu Ramen with a less salty broth and my friends got the regular broth. With the less salty broth, you can tell it's diluted but the flavor still remains. The regular broth keeps it creamy. Both are savory. Noodles are soft and well-cooked, love how the meat is balanced with the fatty parts, and toppings are well-proportioned to the noodles.

In terms of price, this place is very affordable, with each bowl costing under $20, which is not expensive. The only downside is that the space inside is quite small, so you may have to wait if it gets crowded. However, overall the restaurant is very clean, the broth is solid, and the thick noodles have a great chewy texture. Next time, I'll probably try the thin noodles. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys ramen. Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5.

However, this…read morerestaurant fell short of my expectations, and rather than it being a good experience, it made out to be a very mid experience. First off: the location of this place just turned out to be a very closed off location. Not a lot of people knew about it, and the entrance towards the restaurant was rather pretty dark. It seemed kind of unwelcome, and we even had to wait a little bit even though there were plenty of seats available (I would understand the shortage of people serving, but even then, that shouldn't be an excuse. We shouldn't be the ones bearing the responsibility for it). I felt like as if I was rushed through this whole experience. Not only were the seating places small, but also, the portion for what they were offering was not worth it for its price. The customer service was almost as if it was non existent. I tried their ramen, and while the ramen noodles were good, the chashu was really rubbery and the onion taste was too overpowering. In addition, the pork broth was too salty, and was WAY too hot. Also, the fact that four gyozas were a little bit too less. I honestly don't know if I'm going to come back, unless things improve otherwise. It's just my take on this restaurant, but I think they need quite a bit of improving.
